Chelsea held on to win 1-0.
Up to Everton bringing in Aston Villa. Brad Guzan and Tim Howard are the American goalies. Everton opened in the seventeenth minute on a Ross Barkley goal. In the twenty-eighth minute, Everton added on with a Romelu Lukaku goal, via Seamus Coleman. Everton extended the lead in the forty-second minute as Barkley scored again, thanks to Arouna Kone. Everton padded the lead on a fifty-ninth minute Lukaku goal, coming off of Barkley. This was more than enough for the win, which went final at 4-0.
Further north, Newcastle United hosts Leicester City. Kasper Schmeichel and Robert Elliot are the gloved men. In the thirty-first minute, Robert Huth of Leicester City had a yellow card for a foul. Newcastle United had a yellow card go to Vurnon Anita in the thirty-sixth minute for a foul. In first half stoppage time, Leicester City led off on a Jamie Vardy goal, set up by Leonardo Ulloa. Newcastle United's Paul Dummett received a yellow card for a forty-eighth minute foul. In the sixty-second minute, Ulloa added on for Leicester City with his goal, helped along by Riyad Mahrez. Newcastle United was assessed yellow cards for fouls by Ayoze Perez in the seventy-sixth minute and Moussa Sissoko in the seventy-ninth minute. Leicester City extended the lead on a Shinji Okazaki goal in the eighty-third minute. This made it a 3-0 win for the visitors.
Down to Southampton welcoming Stoke City. Jack Butland and Maarten Stekelenburg are between the posts. Stoke City struck first in the tenth minute on a Bojan goal, assisted by Erik Pieters. Out in Wales, Swansea City brings in Bournemouth. Adam Federici and Lukasz Fabianski are the goalies with fun names. Joshua King began for Bournemouth with his tenth minute goal, via Junior Stanislas. Bournemouth added on in the twenty-sixth minute on a Dan Gosling goal, passed from Matt Ritchie. In the twenty-eighth minute, Swansea City got on the board with an Andre Ayew goal, coming off of Jonjo Shelvey. Ritchie of Bournemouth took a yellow card for a thirtieth minute foul. In the thirty-ninth minute, Shelvey converted a penalty kick to tie it for Swansea City. Bournemouth's Stanislas took a yellow card in the fifty-first minute. Swansea City had three yellow cards, given to Kyle Bartley in the seventy-second minute, Gylfi Sigurdsson in the eighty-seventh minute, and Shelvey at the eighty-seven minute mark, the first two for fouls and the last for dissent. The game ended in a 2-2 draw.
Back in England, West Bromwich Albion hosts Arsenal. Petr Cech and Boaz Myhill protect the nets. Arsenal was first to score in the twenty-eighth minute on an Olivier Giroud goal, coming off of Mesut Ozil. At the thirty-one minute mark, Hector Bellerin of Arsenal had a yellow card for a foul. West Bromwich Albion tied it in the thirty-fifth minute with a goal by James Morrison, courtesy of Chris Brunt. In the fortieth minute, West Bromwich Albion took the lead as Arsenal's Mikel Arteta had an own goal. In the forty-second minute, Arsenal had a yellow card given to Giroud. West Bromwich Albion's Morrison took a yellow card for his forty-third minute foul. West Bromwich Albion had two more yellow cards, given to Brunt in the eighty-third minute and Myhill in stoppage time, for a foul and time wasting, respectively. West Bromwich Albion closed the game with a 2-1 win.
Saturday's eight-pack ends with Manchester City welcoming Liverpool. Simon Mignolet and Joe Hart are the keepers. Carolina was first to score in the first period on a Brett Pesce goal, passed from Brad Malone. The Hurricanes added on in the second period on a Jeff Skniner goal, his fourth of the season, coming off of Kris Versteeg and Pesce. Carolina extended the lead as Justin Faulk scored his seventh of the year, a power play goal powered by Elias Lindholm and Versteeg. Los Angeles got on the board with a Dustin Brown penalty shot goal, his second of the season, coming after Noah Hanifin fell on the puck in the crease. The Kings got closer with an Anze Kopitar goal, his sixth of the year, going in unassisted. The Hurricanes fired back on Faulk's second of the game on the power play, his eighth of the season made possible by Hanifin and Victor Rask. Jhonas Enroth played the third period in lieu of Quick. Columbus started in the first minute with a Justin Meram goal, actually coming only nine seconds into the match. In the forty-sixth minute, the Crew had a yellow card given to Tyson Wahl. In the eighty-fifth minute, Columbus added on with a Kei Kamara goal. This made it 2-0, the final, with the man of the match being Meram for his quick winner. The Crew will take a 2-0 lead into the second leg next weekend.
