MLS 2019 - Week 27

A short week of MLS action is on tap, with five games to be played. First up...

New York City FC hosts the New England Revolution. Matt Turner and Brad Stuver draw the starts in goal. New England led off in the 2nd minute with a Juan Fernando Caicedo goal, assisted by Andrew Farrell. The Revolution went down to ten men in the 9th minute after Antonio Mlinar Delamea received a straight red card for denying a goal scoring opportunity. Maximiliano Moralez of New York City picked up a yellow card for a 10th minute foul, as did teammates Sebastien Ibeagha in the 22nd minute and Keaton Parks in the 42nd minute. The Pigeons tied it in the 70th minute with a Jesus Medina goal, passed from Anton Tinnerholm and Alexander Ring. New England saw yellow cards for time wasting issued to Farrell in the 71st minute, Turner in the 74th minute, and Wilfried Zahibo in the 81st minute. Ring of New York City took a yellow card for an 88th minute foul. Juan Agudelo of the Revolution received a yellow card for an 89th minute foul. In stoppage time, Carles Gil of New England had a yellow card for dissent. The Pigeons took the lead with a Medina penalty kick goal in stoppage time. The final held at 2-1, with Medina named man of the match.

Later, FC Cincinnati welcomes Toronto FC. Quentin Westberg and Przemyslaw Tyton are in goal. Toronto began in the 10th minute with a Patrick Mullins goal, via Marco Delgado. The Reds added on in the 21st minute with a Nick DeLeon goal. Michael Bradley of Toronto had a yellow card for a 23rd minute foul. The Reds extended the lead as Delgado scored in the 28th minute, thanks to Alejandro Pozuelo. Toronto padded the lead in the 63rd minute on a Bradley goal, assisted by Tsubasa Endoh and Pozuelo. Eriq Zavaleta of the Reds picked up a yellow card for a foul in the 72nd minute. Cincinnati's Fatai Alashe took a yellow card for an 81st minute foul. Toronto continued with a Nicolas Benezet goal in the 85th minute. The Reds went down to ten men in the 88th minute as Zavaleta received a second yellow card for a foul. The Orange and Blue got on the board in stoppage time with an Emmanuel Ledesma penalty kick goal. This only made it 5-1, the final, with Delgado as the man of the match.

Down in Florida, Orlando City SC hosts Los Angeles FC. Tyler Miller and Brian Rowe are between the sticks. Los Angeles opened in the 12th minute on an Adrien Perez goal. Orlando City tied it in the 13th minute with a Nani goal. The Lions took the lead with a Benji Michel goal in the 20th minute, set up by Ruan and Cristian Higuita. Orlando City had yellow cards for fouls by Higuita and Nani in first half stoppage time. Latif Blessing of the Black and Gold took a yellow card for a dive in the 59th minute. Oriol Rosell of the Lions earned a yellow card for a 60th minute foul. Los Angeles retied it in the 78th minute on a Diego Rossi goal, passed from Adama Diomande. The final was 2-2, with the man of the match being Rossi.

Westward to Colorado, as the Rapids bring in the Seattle Sounders FC. Stefan Frei and Clint Irwin are the veterans in goal. Colorado started in the 41st minute with an Andre Shinyashiki goal, guided in by Jonathan Lewis and Sam Nicholson. The Rapids added on in the 70th minute with a Shinyashiki goal, passed from Keegan Rosenberry and Nicolas Mezquida. Seattle's Emanuel Cecchini received a yellow card for a foul in the 79th minute. The final was 2-0, with Shinyashiki earning man of the match honors.

Finally, the Portland Timbers host Sporting Kansas City. Tim Melia and Steve Clark man the nets. Andy Polo of Portland took a yellow card for a 40th minute foul. Gerso of Kansas City had a yellow card for a handball in the 45th minute. Sporting's Graham Zusi received a yellow card for a foul in the 58th minute. Kansas City got going in the 65th minute with a Benny Feilhaber goal, via Daniel Salloi. The Timbers got on the board in the 83rd minute with a Jeremy Ebobisse goal. Portland's Ebobisse took a yellow card for an 86th minute foul. The Timbers pulled ahead on a Brian Fernandez goal in stoppage time, coming off of Diego Valeri and Tomas Conechny. This stood for a 2-1 win, with Ebobisse as the man of the match.

MLS 2019 - Week 26

A full weekend awaits with ten games to start on Saturday, beginning with...

The New York Red Bulls hosting the Colorado Rapids. Tim Howard and Luis Robles are the veterans in goal. Jack Price of Colorado had a yellow card for a 12th minute foul. The Rapids led off in the 14th minute with a Jonathan Lewis goal. Kemar Lawrence of New York took a yellow card for a 42nd minute foul. Rece Buckmaster of the Red Bulls had a yellow card for his 80h minute foul. In the 81st minute, Colorado's Nicolas Mezquida received a yellow card for a foul. The Rapids added on in the 87th minute with a Lewis goal, helped along by Diego Rubio. Colorado's Rubio picked up a yellow card for a foul in stoppage time. The final was 2-0, with Lewis as the man of the match.

Into Ohio, where the Columbus Crew SC welcome the Chicago Fire. Kenneth Kronholm and Eloy Room are the less experienced goalies. Columbus began in the 27th minute with a Pedro Santos goal, assisted by Luis Argudo. Chicago saw yellow cards for fouls by Jonathan Bornstein in the 46th minute, Francisco Calvo in the 48th minute, and Bastian Schweinsteiger in the 82nd minute. The Fire tied it with a Przemyslaw Frankowski goal in stoppage time, set up by Aleksandar Katai and Djordje Mihailovic. This made it 1-1, the final, with Frankowski earning man of the match honors.

Up to Montreal, with the Impact bringing in DC United. Bill Hamid and Evan Bush are the gloved men. Montreal's Rudy Camacho had a yellow card for an 18th minute foul. DC opened with an Ola Kamara goal in the 20th minute. Joseph Mora of the Black and Red took a yellow card for a 21st minute foul. DC added on with a Paul Arriola goal in the 23rd minute. The Black and Red extended the lead as Kamara scored again in the 32nd minute, thanks to Frederic Brillant and Felipe. Maximiliano Urruti of the Impact received a yellow card for a dive in the 56th minute. The score remained 3-0, and a brace from Kamara made him man of the match.

Back stateside, the Philadelphia Union host Atlanta United FC. Brad Guzan and Andre Blake are the strong keepers. Eric Remedi of Atlanta took a yellow card for a 12th minute foul. The Five Stripes were first to score in first half stoppage time with a Josef Martinez goal, set up by Darlington Nagbe. Philadelphia tied it in the 61st minute with a Brenden Aaronson goal, passed from Haris Medunjanin. Marco Fabian of the Union had a yellow card for a 78th minute foul. Philadelphia took the lead in the 86th minute with a Kacper Przybylko goal, guided in by Sergio Santos and Kai Wagner. The Union added on with a Santos goal, made possible by Przybylko and Ilsinho in the 88th minute. Santos took a yellow card for delaying the game. Atlanta's Leandro Gonzalez Pirez picked up a yellow card in second half stoppage time for a foul. The final was 3-1, with Przybylko as the man of the match.

Far south to Texas, where FC Dallas welcomes FC Cincinnati. Przemyslaw Tyton and Jesse Gonzalez are the keepers. Dallas started in the 12th minute with a Ryan Hollingshead goal, assisted by Zdenek Ondrasek. Matt Hedges of the Toros took a yellow card for a 37th minute foul. Dallas added on in the 49th minute with a Michael Barrios goal, coming off of Jesus Ferreira. The Toros extended the lead as Ondrasek scored in the 51st minute. Dallas saw yellow cards for fouls by Dominique Badji in the 60th minute and Reggie Cannon in the 62nd minute. Cincinnati got on the board with an Emmanuel Ledesma penalty kick goal in the 64th minute. The Orange and Blue received yellow cards for fouls by Andrew Gutman and Ledesma in the 65th and 73rd minutes, respectively. Cincinnati went down to ten men in the 75th minute when Kekuta Manneh picked up a straight red card for violent conduct. The Toros' Bryan Acosta was booked in the 85th minute for a foul. The final held at 3-1, with Ondrasek named man of the match.

Back to the northeast, the New England Revolution bring in Toronto FC. Quentin Westberg and Matt Turner patrol the penalty areas. Andrew Farrell of New England had a yellow card for a 37th minute foul. Toronto's Chris Mavinga took a yellow card for a 57th minute foul. The Reds got going in the 74th minute with a Nicolas Benezet goal. The Revolution tied it on a Gustavo Bou goal in the 88th minute, helped along by Diego Fagundez. The final stood at 1-1, with Bou selected as man of the match.

Out west, Sporting Kansas City hosts the Houston Dynamo. Joe Willis and Tim Melia are between the sticks. Kansas City struck first in the 12th minute with a Johnny Russell goal, via Graham Smith and Felipe Gutierrez. In the 47th minute, Sporting's Gutierrez had a yellow card for a foul. Houston saw yellow cards for dissent by Boniek Garcia in the 61st minute, a 65th minute foul by A.J. DeLaGarza, persistent infringement by Matias Vera in the 89th minute, and a Maynor Figueroa foul in stoppage time. The final remained 1-0, with Melia's five-save clean sheet making him man of the match.

Northwest to Vancouver, as the Whitecaps FC welcomes New York City FC. Sean Johnson and Maxime Crepeau draw the starts in goal. New York City drew first blood in the 10th minute with a Heber goal, via Alexandru Mitrita and Tony Rocha. The Pigeons added on with a 26th minute goal by Gary Mackay-Steven. Hwang In-Beom of Vancouver took a yellow card for a foul in first half stoppage time. Doneil Henry of the Whitecaps picked up a yellow card for a 49th minute foul. Vancouver got on the board in the 64th minute with a Yordy Reyna goal, helped along by Tosaint Ricketts. New York City shot back with a Mitrita goal in the 72nd minute. Michaell Chirinos of the Whitecaps received a yellow card for a 79th minute foul. Mitrita of the Pigeons had a yellow card for an 85th minute foul. The final was 3-1, with Mitrita picked as man of the match.

Down in Oregon, the Portland Timbers bring in Real Salt Lake. Nick Rimando and Steve Clark man the nets. Portland cracked the scoresheet in the 16th minute with a Diego Valeri goal, assisted by Andres Flores. Claude Dielna of the Timbers picked up a yellow card for a 66th minute foul. Portland went down to ten men in stoppage time as Renzo Zambrano received a straight red card for foul and abusive language. The final stayed at 1-0, with Clark's six-save clean sheet good for man of the match honors.

Saturday closes with the San Jose Earthquakes hosting Orlando City SC. Brian Rowe and Daniel Vega play in goal. San Jose was first to score in the 3rd minute with a Magnus Eriksson goal, via Jackson Yueill. The Earthquakes added on in the 20th minute with a Chris Wondolowski goal, assisted by Valeri Qazaishvili. San Jose extended the lead as Wondolowski scored again in the 33rd minute, with the help of Cristian Espinoza. Orlando City saw a yellow card for a Cristian Higuita foul in the 59th minute. The Earthquakes' Marcos Lopez picked up a yellow card for a 63rd minute foul. The Lions' Dom Dwyer took a yellow card for his foul in the 65th minute, as did teammate Oriol Rosell in the 90th minute. The final was 3-0, with Wondolowski's brace earning him the man of the match title.

On Sunday, the Seattle Sounders FC welcome the Los Angeles Galaxy. David Bingham and Stefan Frei protect the nets. Giancarlo Gonzalez of Los Angeles had a yellow card for a 6th minute foul. Seattle dented the scoreboard in first half stoppage time with a Raul Ruidiaz goal, via Nicolas Lodeiro. Xavier Arreaga of the Sounders took a yellow card for a foul in the 47th minute. Seattle added on with a Cristian Roldan goal in the 55th minute. The Galaxy's Diego Polenta received a yellow card for his 62nd minute foul. Los Angeles got on the board in the 66th minute with a Zlatan Ibrahimovic goal, set up by Sebastian Lletget. The Galaxy evened it in the 75th minute with a Uriel Antuna goal, helped along by Ibrahimovic and Cristian Pavon. The Sounders reclaimed the lead with a Jordan Morris goal in the 77th minute, fueled by Ruidiaz. Los Angeles tied it again on an 81st minute Jorgen Skjelvik goal, assisted by Polenta. Seattle surged ahead in the 89th minute with another Roldan goal, made possible by Brad Smith and Morris. The final was 4-3, and Roldan was the man of the match.

Finally, Los Angeles FC brings in Minnesota United FC. Vito Mannone and Pablo Sisniega draw the starts in goal. Minnesota kicked off the scoring in the 25th minute with a Mason Toye goal, via Jan Gregus. The Loons added on in the 29th minute with a Toye goal. Latif Blessing of Los Angeles had a yellow card for a foul in stoppage time. The final stayed at 2-0, with Toye picked as man of the match.
