Portland's Emily Sonnett received a yellow card for a foul in first half stoppage time, a brutal tackle on Debinha. The Thorns got one back in the forty-ninth minute with a Lindsey Horan goal, coming off of Tobin Heath. In the eighty-fifth minute, Portland's Caitlin Foord received a yellow card for a foul. In stoppage time, Minnesota's Ibarra took a yellow card for a handball, leading to the Sounders tying the game on a Nicolas Lodeiro penalty kick goal, which then saw the goal-scorer receive a yellow card for delay of game. The Sounders stole a 2-1 win at the end on a Will Bruin goal, made possible by Raul Ruidiaz and Kelvin Leerdam. The man of the match was Osvaldo Alonso, who kept the Sounders in the game with strong midfield play.
East again to the Bronx, as New York City FC brings in the Vancouver Whitecaps. Stefan Marinovic and Brad Stuver are the surprising starters in goal. Vancouver kicked off the scoring in the twenty-second minute with a Nicolas Mezquida goal, set up by Bernie Ibini-Isei. New York City tied it in first half stoppage time on a Jesus Medina goal, via Anton Tinnerholm and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi. New York City took the lead in the forty-sixth minute with a Valentin Castellanos goal, helped along by Jo Inge Berget and Maximiliano Moralez. New York City had yellow cards for Ronald Matarrita in the fifty-fifth minute and Moralez in the sixty-eighth minute, for a foul and time wasting, respectively. The Whitecaps tied it on an Erik Hurtado goal in the eighty-seventh minute, coming off of Brek Shea and Russell Teibert. Alexander Callens of New York City received a yellow card for a foul in the eighty-ninth minute. The game ended in a 2-2 draw, with the man of the match being Hurtado.
Westward to Colorado, where the Rapids host the Los Angeles Galaxy. David Bingham and Tim Howard are set to start in goal. Los Angeles was first to score in the thirty-third minute with a Romain Alessandrini goal. The Galaxy had yellow cards for time wasting by Ashley Cole in the forty-first minute and Servando Carrasco's foul in the forty-fourth minute. Colorado tied it in the fiftieth minute with a Kellyn Acosta goal, assisted by Jack Price. In the sixty-second minute, Kortne Ford of the Rapids had a yellow card for a foul. Chris Pontius of the Galaxy took a yellow card for a sixty-fifth minute foul. Colorado pulled ahead on a ninetieth minute goal by Sam Nicholson, coming off of Edgar Castillo and Bismark Boateng. This was good for a 2-1 win, with the man of the match being Nicholson.
Returning to Texas, where the Houston Dynamo welcome Sporting Kansas City. Tim Melia and Joe Willis are the gloved men. Houston got into quite a disciplinary mess early in the game, with Romell Quioto taking a yellow card for a foul in the fourth minute. The Dynamo went down to ten men with a fourteenth minute straight red card for Alejandro Fuenmayor's foul, and yellow cards for dissent were issued to Alberth Elis in the fifteenth minute and Oscar Boniek Garcia in the nineteenth minute. Seth Sinovic of Kansas City had a yellow card for a twenty-second minute foul. Houston's keeper Willis had a yellow card for dissent in the seventieth minute. Sporting got going in the seventy-fourth minute with a Diego Rubio goal, made possible by Gianluca Busio and Graham Zusi. Ronaldo Pena of the Dynamo took a yellow card for a foul in the eightieth minute. In stoppage time, Kansas City's Rubio received a yellow card for a foul, followed by red cards to Houston's Darwin Ceren for violent conduct and Elis upon review of another incident. Leonardo of the Dynamo capped the ugly night with a yellow card ten minutes deep into stoppage time with his team at eight men. Sporting won 1-0, with Rubio the man of the match.
Northwest to Utah, as Real Salt Lake bring in the Chicago Fire. Stefan Cleveland and Nick Rimando are between the sticks. Salt Lake drew first blood in first half stoppage time with a Damir Kreilach goal, assisted by Jefferson Savarino. Chicago tied it on a forty-eighth minute Bastian Schweinsteiger goal, courtesy of Drew Conner. The Fire's Conner had a yellow card for a fifty-fifth minute foul. Real retook the lead in the seventy-fifth minute on another Kreilach goal, via Joao Plata and Savarino. In the ninetieth minute, Salt Lake's Marcelo Silva took a yellow card for a foul. In second half stoppage time, Schweinsteiger of Chicago received a yellow card for dissent. Real won 2-1, with Kreilach as the man of the match for his brace.
Saturday ends with the Portland Timbers hosting the Philadelphia Union. Andre Blake and Jeff Attinella guard the woodwork. Portland dented the scoreboard in the fifty-eighth minute with a Diego Valeri penalty kick goal. The Timbers added on in the eighty-fourth minute with a Dairon Asprilla penalty kick goal. Portland extended the lead as David Guzman scored in the eighty-seventh minute, thanks to Valeri. Alejandro Bedoya of Philadelphia took a yellow card for a ninetieth minute foul. The final was 3-0, with Valeri picked as man of the match.
Finally, on Sunday, the New York Red Bulls host Los Angeles FC. Tyler Miller and Luis Robles play in goal. Los Angeles' Miller took a yellow card for time wasting in the thirty-eighth minute. New York found the first goal in the thirty-ninth minute, scored by Daniel Royer. Los Angeles tied it in the fifty-third minute with a Diego Rossi goal, passed from Carlos Vela. Bradley Wright-Phillips of the Red Bulls had a yellow card for dissent in the sixtieth minute. New York regained the lead on a Royer goal in the eightieth minute, courtesy of Wright-Phillips and Marc Rzatkowski. This stood for a 2-1 win, with the man of the match being Royer for his brace.
