2015-16 NHL Season - Day 91

Ten games on today, beginning with a pair of matinees. The first is...

The New York Rangers hosting the Washington Capitals. Braden Holtby and Henrik Lundqvist tend the twines. Washington struck first in the first period on an unassisted Alex Ovechkin power play goal, his twenty-third of the season. The Capitals added on in the second period with a Justin Williams goal, his twelfth of the year, via Nate Schmidt. New York got on the board with an Oscar Lindberg goal, his eleventh of the season, made possible by Dominic Moore and Ryan McDonagh in the third period. The Rangers tied it as Kevin Hayes scored his seventh of the year, thanks to McDonagh and Derick Brassard. New York took the lead with a Viktor Stalberg goal, his sixth of the season, fueled by Keith Yandle and Hayes. Washington tied it with a Nicklas Backstrom goal, his thirteenth of the year, courtesy of Williams and Matt Niskanen. The Capitals won 4-3 in overtime on an Ovechkin goal, his second of the game and twenty-fourth of the campaign, set up by Schmidt. The three stars belonged to Ovechkin, Williams, and Hayes, while Schmidt and McDonagh get the honorable mentions.

Over in Philadelphia, the Flyers welcome the New York Islanders. Jaroslav Halak and Steve Mason man the nets. Philadelphia got going in the second period on a Michael Raffl goal, his sixth of the season, coming off of Sean Couturier and Matt Read. The Flyers added on with an Evgeny Medvedev goal, his third of the year, passed from Read and Michael Del Zotto. Philadelphia extended the lead in the third period as Read scored his sixth of the season, thanks to Mark Streit and Scott Laughton. The Flyers padded the lead with a Couturier goal, his ninth of the year, assisted by Radko Gudas and Raffl. The final held at 4-0, with the three stars handed to Read, Mason (20 save shutout), and Raffl, while Couturier gets an honorable mention.

At the usual time, the Montreal Canadiens bring in the Pittsburgh Penguins. Marc-Andre Fleury and Mike Condon are in goal. Pittsburgh dented the scoreboard with a Patric Hornqvist power play goal, his ninth of the season, powered by Phil Kessel and Evgeni Malkin. Montreal tied it on a P.K. Along to Ontario, where the Ottawa Senators host the Boston Bruins. Tuukka Rask and Craig Anderson are the veteran goalies. Ottawa was first to score in the first period with a Mika Zibanejad goal, his eighth of the season, helped along by Erik Karlsson and Milan Michalek. Boston tied it on a David Pastrnak goal in the second period, his third of the year, coming off of Zdeno Chara and Patrice Bergeron. The Senators won 2-1 with a Mark Stone goal in overtime, his eleventh of the campaign, set up by Karlsson and Kyle Turris. The three stars were handed to Karlsson, Anderson (33 for 34 in saves), and Rask (38 for 40 in saves).

Out west, the San Jose Sharks welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jonathan Bernier and Martin Jones are in the creases. San Jose drew first blood in the second period on a Brent Burns goal, his seventeenth of the season, assisted by Paul Martin and Joe Pavelski. The Sharks added on with a Matt Nieto shorthanded goal, his fifth of the year, set up by Tommy Wingels and Burns. San Jose extended the lead as Pavelski scored his twenty-first of the season, thanks to Tomas Hertl and Joe Thornton. The Sharks padded the lead with a Hertl goal, his fifth of the year, made possible by Justin Braun and Thornton. San Jose continued in the third period on a Melker Karlsson goal, his fifth of the season, powered by Chris Tierney and Braun. The Sharks kept going with a Joonas Donskoi goal, his fifth of the year, fueled by Wingels and Marc-Edouard Vlasic. West to Arizona, with the Coyotes welcoming the Nashville Predators. Carter Hutton and Louis Domingue are the unknown goalies. Arizona started in the second period with an Antoine Vermette goal, his sixth of the season, coming off of Shane Doan and Tobias Rieder on the power play. The Coyotes added on with a Rieder goal in the third period, his ninth of the year, via Martin Hanzal. Arizona extended the lead on an empty net goal by Rieder, his second of the game and tenth of the season, set up by Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Vermette. The Coyotes padded the lead with an unassisted Anthony Duclair goal, his twelfth of the year. The final was 4-0, and the three stars belonged to Rieder, Vermette, and Domingue (26 save shutout).

Up in Vancouver, the Canucks bring in the Tampa Bay Lightning. Andrei Vasilevskiy and Jacob Markstrom are the unproven goalies. Tampa Bay opened in the first period on an Alex Killorn goal, his seventh of the season, via Nikita Kucherov and Vladislav Namestnikov. Vancouver tied it on a Sven Baertschi goal, his seventh of the year, a power play goal powered by Bo Horvat and Yannick Weber. The Lightning took the lead on a third period goal by Valtteri Filppula, his fifth of the season, made possible by Anton Stralman and Ryan Callahan. The Canucks retied it on a Horvat goal, his sixth of the year, courtesy of Ben Hutton and Alex Biega. Tampa Bay won 3-2 in overtime on a Kucherov goal, his sixteenth of the campaign, coming off of Namestnikov and Stralman. The three stars were awarded to Kucherov, Horvat, and Namestnikov, while Stralman gets an honorable mention.

Finally, the Los Angeles Kings host the St. Louis Blues. Brian Elliott and Jonathan Quick are the veterans in goal. Los Angeles began in the second period with an Anze Kopitar goal, his eleventh of the season, assisted by Milan Lucic. Vancouver tied it on an Alex Pietrangelo goal, his third of the year, guided in by Vladimir Tarasenko and Jori Lehtera. In the shootout, Alexander Steen and Troy Brouwer scored for the Blues, topping Marian Gaborik's tally for the Kings for a 2-1 win. The three stars were Elliott (26 for 27 in saves), Brouwer, and Quick (15 for 16 in saves).

Two games on today, with the first being...

Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg welcoming Severstal Cherepovets. Roman Smiryagin is mismatched with Jakub Kovar in goal. Cherepovets began in the first period with an Anton Sizov goal, guided in by Artyom Kryukov. Severstal made it 2-0 in the third period on an Ondrej Nemec power play goal, powered by Yury Trubachyov and Andrei Shefer. This was the final score, with the three stars being Smiryagin (29 save shutout), Sizov, and Nemec.

The other game sees Lada Togliatti bring in Avangard Omsk. Denis Kostin and Edgars Masalskis draw the starts in goal. Omsk got going in the second period on a Martin Erat power play goal, powered by Vladimir Sobotka. Avangard iced it at 2-0 with an empty net goal by Ilya Mikheyev, set up by Sobotka. Six games on for tonight, beginning with...

The Carolina Hurricanes hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets. Anton Forsberg is mismatched with Cam Ward in goal. Carolina was first to score in the first period with a Jordan Staal power play goal, his ninth of the season, powered by Jaccob Slavin and Kris Versteeg. Columbus tied it on a Brandon Dubinsky power play goal in the second period, his seventh of the campaign, helped along by Nick Foligno and Jack Johnson. The Hurricanes retook the lead on an Elias Lindholm goal, his fifth of the year, courtesy of Noah Hanifin and Versteeg. Carolina added on in the third period as Chris Terry scored his fourth of the season, thanks to Jeff Skinner and Riley Nash. The Hurricanes iced it at 4-1 with a Lindholm empty net goal, his second of the game and sixth of the year, set up by Eric Staal. Vladivostok, as Admiral hosts Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. Alexander Sudnitsin and Igor Bobkov are in goal. Vladivostok got going in the second period with a David Booth goal, coming off of Jonathon Blum. Admiral added on with a Mikhail Fisenko power play goal, powered by Alexander Gorshkov. Nizhnekamsk got on the board with a Denis Kuzmin goal, guided in by Bogdan Yakimov and Nikita Shchitov. Vladivostok wrapped it up at 3-1 with an Artyom Podshendyalov power play goal in the third period, with a lone assist by Konstantin Makarov. The three stars went to Bobkov (32 for 33 in saves), Fisenko, and Podshendyalov.

North to Khabarovsk, where Amur welcomes Traktor Chelyabinsk. Pavel Francouz and Alexander Pechursky man the nets. Magnitogorsk padded the lead in the third period with a Rafael Batyrshin goal, coming off of Semin and Oskar Osala. Andrei Kareyev replaced Podyapolsky. SKA added on with a Nikita Gusev power play goal, powered by Evgeny Dadonov and Kuteikin. Moscow got on the board with a second period goal by Alexander Radulov, coming off of Jan Mursak and Andrei Svetlakov. CSKA tied it on an Igor Makarov goal, with a lone assist by Mikhail Naumenkov. Riga opened in the first period on a Miks Indrasis goal, assisted by Gunars Skvorcovs. Podolsk tied it with a Nikita Vyglazov goal, via Roman Horak. Dinamo retook the lead in the third period with an unassisted Andris Dzerins goal. Riga iced it at 3-1 with a Skvorcovs goal, made possible by Indrasis. The three stars went to Sedlacek (30 for 31 in saves), Skvorcovs, and Indrasis.

Out in Belarus, Dinamo Minsk welcomes Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Vitaly Kolesnik and Kevin Lalande are between the pipes. Up in Finland, Jokerit Helsinki brings in Dynamo Moscow. Alexander Lazushin and Henrik Karlsson play in the blue paint. South to Dallas, where the Stars host the Winnipeg Jets. Connor Hellebuyck and Kari Lehtonen man the nets. Dallas was first to score in the first period on a Tyler Seguin goal, his twenty-fourth of the season, made possible by Patrick Sharp and Mattias Janmark. Winnipeg tied it on a Mathieu Perreault goal, his sixth of the year, coming off of Nikolaj Ehlers and Tyler Myers in the second period. In the shootout, goals from Seguin and Sharp lifted the Stars to a 2-1 win over a lone tally by Andrew Ladd. The three stars were Seguin, Sharp, and Lehtonen (32 for 33 in saves).

Back into Canada, with the Calgary Flames welcoming the Arizona Coyotes. Louis Domingue and Karri Ramo are the little-known goalies. Arizona tied it on an Oliver Ekman-Larsson power play goal, his eleventh of the year, assisted by Anthony Duclair and Mikkel Boedker. Five games on for tonight, beginning in...

Montreal, as the Canadiens host the New Jersey Devils. Cory Schneider and Mike Condon man the nets. Montreal was first to score in the first period with a Max Pacioretty power play goal, his seventeenth of the season, powered by Tomas Plekanec and P.K. Subban. The Canadiens added on in the second period with a Torrey Mitchell goal, his sixth of the year, a shorthanded goal set up by Paul Byron. New Jersey got on the board with an Adam Henrique goal, his fourteenth of the campaign, helped along by Andy Greene and Lee Stempniak. This only made it 2-1, the final, with the three stars going to Condon (19 for 20 in saves), Mitchell, and Pacioretty.

Down in Chicago, the Blackhawks welcome the Pittsburgh Penguins. Marc-Andre Fleury and Scott Darling draw the starts in goal. Chicago struck first in the first period on an Artemi Panarin goal, his fourteenth of the season, courtesy of Artem Anisimov and Patrick Kane. Pittsburgh tied it in the second period with an Evgeni Malkin power play goal, his nineteenth of the year, powered by Phil Kessel and Kris Letang. The Blackhawks took the lead back on an unassisted Panarin goal, his second of the game and fifteenth of the season. Vladivostok started in the first period on a Konstantin Makarov goal, passed from Artyom Podshendyalov. Admiral added on with a Makarov power play goal in the second period, powered by Jonathon Blum and Oskars Bartulis. Up to Khabarovsk, where Amur welcomes Salavat Yulaev Ufa. Niklas Svedberg and Juha Metsola are the goalies. CSKA added on with a Geoff Platt power play goal, powered by Nikita Zaitsev and Stephane Da Costa. Moscow extended the lead as Dmitry Kugryshev scored, thanks to Alexander Radulov. 2015-16 NHL Season - Day 86

Five games on for tonight, beginning in...

New Jersey, as the Devils host the Detroit Red Wings. Petr Mrazek and Cory Schneider guard the cages. Detroit opened in the first period on a Dylan Larkin goal, his fourteenth of the season, assisted by Brad Richards and Riley Sheahan. This was it for the scoring, with the final at 1-0. The three stars went to Mrazek (22 save shutout), Larkin, and Schneider (20 for 21 in saves).

West to St. Louis, with the Blues welcoming the Ottawa Senators. Andrew Hammond and Brian Elliott are the backups in goal. St. Louis started in the first period on a Troy Brouwer goal, his seventh of the season, courtesy of Alexander Steen and Paul Stastny. The Blues added on in the second period with a Kevin Shattenkirk power play goal, his eighth of the year, powered by Steen and Vladimir Tarasenko. Ottawa got on the board with a Mike Hoffman power play goal, his nineteenth of the season, coming off of Bobby Ryan and Erik Karlsson. The Senators tied it in the third period with a Ryan power play goal, his twelfth of the year, with a lone assist by Kyle Turris. Ottawa won 3-2 with a Ryan overtime goal, his second of the game and thirteenth of the campaign, helped along by Mark Stone and Chris Wideman. The three stars were Ryan, Steen, and Hoffman.

Northwest to Edmonton, as the Oilers host the Carolina Hurricanes. Cams Ward and Talbot man the nets. Edmonton won 1-0 in overtime with an Andrej Sekera goal, his fifth of the season, courtesy of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jordan Eberle. The three stars were Talbot (29 save shutout), Sekera, and Ward (26 for 27 in saves).

Back stateside, the Colorado Avalanche bring in the Los Angeles Kings. Jhonas Enroth is mismatched with Semyon Varlamov in goal. Colorado got going in the second period on a Tyson Barrie power play goal, his fifth of the season, powered by Matt Duchene and Blake Comeau. Los Angeles tied it with a Tyler Toffoli power play goal, his nineteenth of the year, guided in by Anze Kopitar and Jake Muzzin. The Avalanche retook the lead on a Barrie goal, his second of the game and sixth of the season, helped along by Andreas Martinsen. Colorado added on in the third period with a Duchene power play goal, his eighteenth of the year, fueled by Barrie and Gabriel Landeskog. The Avalanche extended the lead on a Jarome Iginla power play goal, his eleventh of the campaign, with assists provided by Barrie and Comeau. This made it a 4-1 final, with the three stars being Barrie, Duchene, and Comeau.

Finally, the Vancouver Canucks host the Arizona Coyotes. Louis Domingue and Jacob Markstrom are the unknown goalies. Arizona dented the scoreboard in the second period with a Shane Doan goal, his fourteenth of the season, passed from Connor Murphy and Brad Richardson. Vancouver tied it on a Bo Horvat power play goal, his third of the year, going in unassisted. The Coyotes took the lead back as Laurent Dauphin scored, thanks to Tobias Rieder and Domingue. The KHL is back in full force with a heavy oscillation in their scheduling for most of the rest of the season. There are eleven games today, beginning in...

Vladivostok, as Admiral hosts Salavat Yulaev Ufa. Niklas Svedberg and Ivan Nalimov are in the blue paint. Ufa began in the first period on an Artyom Chernov goal, with a lone assist by Sergei Soin. Salavat Yulaev added on with an Andreas Engqvist goal, assisted by Igor Grigorenko and Linus Omark. Ufa extended the lead with a shorthanded Grigorenko goal, set up by Engqvist. Vladivostok got on the board in the second period with a Viktor Alexandrov goal, passed from David Booth. Salavat Yulaev replied in the third period with a power play goal by Zakhar Arzamastsev, powered by Ivan Vishnevsky and Dmitry Makarov. Admiral got one back on a Yegor Dugin power play goal, with a lone assist by Oskars Bartulis. This only made it 4-2, the final, with the three stars going to Grigorenko, Engqvist, and Svedberg (34 for 36 in saves).

Up in Khabarovsk, Amur welcomes Metallurg Magnitogorsk. Vasily Koshechkin faces former understudy Alexander Pechursky in goal. Magnitogorsk dented the scoreboard on a second period goal by Chris Lee, helped along by Sergei Mozyakin and Tomas Filippi. This stood for a 1-0 win, with the three stars being Koshechkin (33 save shutout), Lee, and Pechursky (37 for 38 in saves).

To the west, Metallurg Novokuznetsk brings in Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. Alexander Sudnitsin and Andrei Kareyev man the nets. Novokuznetsk got going in the second period on a Daniil Yerdakov goal, via Kirill Lebedev. Nizhnekamsk tied it on a third period goal from Igor Polygalov, made possible by Kirill Lyamin and Mikhail Zhukov. Neftekhimik won 2-1 in overtime on a Zhukov goal, assisted by Dan Sexton and Evgeny Ryasensky. The three stars belonged to Zhukov, Sudnitsin (22 for 23 in saves), and Kareyev (31 for 33 in saves).

Nearby, Sibir Novosibirsk hosts Traktor Chelyabinsk. Vasily Demchenko and Alexander Salak tend the twines. Novosibirsk was first to score in the second period with an Alexei Kopeikin goal, with a lone assist by Sergei Gimayev. Chelyabinsk tied it on a Maxim Yakutsenya goal, via Alexei Kruchinin and Dmitry Pestunov. Torpedo added on with an Evgeny Mozer goal, fueled by Alexei Pepelyaev and Nikolai Zherdev. Nizhny Novgorod extended the lead in the second period as Alexander Frolov scored, thanks to Dmitry Semin. Torpedo padded the lead with a Semin power play goal, powered by Ashton. This produced the 4-0 final score, with the three stars going to Ashton, Proskuryakov (15 save shutout), and Semin.

In Moscow, Dynamo brings in SKA St. Petersburg. Mikko Koskinen faces a lesser foe in Alexander Lazushin in goal. St. Petersburg opened in the first period with a Dinar Khafizullin goal, going in unassisted. Moscow tied it on a Juuso Hietanen power play goal, powered by Maxim Pestushko and Andrei Mironov. Dynamo took the lead with a second period Vladimir Bryukvin goal, assisted by Denis Kokarev and Alexei Tereshchenko. Moscow added on with a Mat Robinson goal, guided in by Alexander Osipov. Dynamo extended the lead in the third period as Ivan Igumnov scored, thanks to Ilya Shipov. Moscow padded the lead with another Robinson goal, with a lone helper by Maxim Karpov. Staying in the city, CSKA Moscow hosts the Sochi Leopards. Dmitry Shikin and Ilya Sorokin are the backups in goal. Cherepovets started in the first period on a Daniil Vovchenko goal, assisted by Yury Trubachyov. Yaroslavl tied it on a second period goal by Andrei Loktionov, guided in by Ilya Gorokhov. Lokomotiv took the lead on a Petri Kontiola power play goal, powered by Gorokhov. This stood for a 2-1 win, with the three stars handed to Gorokhov, Murygin (16 for 17 in saves), and Kontiola.

Out in Belarus, Dinamo Minsk brings in Ak Bars Kazan. Stanislav Galimov and Dmitry Milchakov are the masked men. Minsk began in the first period with a Ryan Gunderson power play goal, powered by Ryan Vesce and Konstantin Koltsov. Kazan tied it on an Albert Yarullin goal, helped along by Yakov Rylov and Mikhail Varnakov. Ak Bars took the lead in the second period with a Vasily Tokranov goal, fueled by Justin Azevedo and Oscar Moller. Kazan added on with an unassisted Moller goal. Along to Latvia, where Dinamo Riga welcomes Slovan Bratislava. Barry Brust and Joacim Eriksson play goal. Bratislava led off in the first period with an unassisted goal by Pavol Skalicky. Riga tied it on a Tim Sestito goal in the second period, passed from Steven Seigo and Bruno Zabis. In the shootout, Ziga Jeglic scored twice with the help of one extra tally from Lukas Kaspar as Slovan topped Dinamo, who had goals from Miks Indrasis and Lauris Darzins. The three stars in the 2-1 game were Jeglic, Brust (21 for 22 in saves), and Eriksson (34 for 35 in saves).

Finally, in Croatia, Medvescak Zagreb brings in Jokerit Helsinki. Henrik Karlsson and Danny Taylor protect the nets. Zagreb drew first blood in the first period on an unassisted power play goal by Mark Katic. Helsinki tied it in the second period on a Niko Kapanen power play goal, powered by Jesse Joensuu and Philip Larsen. Jokerit took the lead with an Atte Ohtamaa goal, via Joensuu and Brandon Kozun. Helsinki added on with a Topi Jaakola goal, guided in by Pekka Jormakka and Tim Kennedy. Jokerit extended the lead in the third period as Ville Lajunen scored a power play goal, with the help of Kapanen and Peter Regin. Kazakhstan, as Barys Astana hosts Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk. Vladislav Fokin and Pavel Poluektov are in goal. Khanty-Mansiysk opened in the first period with a Denis Gorbunov power play goal, powered by Konstantin Panov and Igor Bortnikov. Astana tied it on a Mike Lundin goal, going in unassisted. Yugra took the lead on an Evgeny Orlov goal in the second period, via Kirill Rasskazov and Evgeny Lapenkov. Barys tied it on a Dustin Boyd goal in the third period, passed from Brandon Bochenski and Lundin. Astana won 3-2 in the shootout with a Roman Starchenko tally. The three stars went to Lundin, Boyd, and Starchenko.

Around the world, the New York Islanders welcome the Dallas Stars in the lead-off NHL game. Kari Lehtonen and Thomas Greiss draw the starts. Dallas started in the first period on a Vernon Fiddler goal, his sixth of the season, fueled by Radek Faksa and Travis Moen. New York tied it on an Anders Lee power play goal, his sixth of the year, powered by Kyle Okposo and Marek Zidlicky. Down in Florida, the Panthers host the Minnesota Wild. Devan Dubnyk and Al Montoya are in the creases. Minnesota tied it in the second period on a Jason Zucker goal, his tenth of the year, assisted by Mikko Koivu and Ryan Suter. The Blackhawks added on in the third period with an Artem Anisimov goal, his fifteenth of the year, courtesy of Michal Rozsival and Patrick Kane. Chicago iced it at 3-0 with a Desjardins empty net goal, his fifth of the campaign, set up by Phillip Danault. The three stars were Crawford (26 save shutout), Desjardins, and Keith.

Finally, the Anaheim Ducks host the Winnipeg Jets. Michael Hutchinson and John Gibson are the goalies. Anaheim was first to score in the first period on a Rickard Rakell goal, his eighth of the season, going in unassisted. The Ducks added on with a Kevin Bieksa power play goal, powered by Sami Vatanen and Mike Santorelli. Anaheim extended the lead in the second period with a Corey Perry goal, his fourteenth of the year, coming off of Rakell and the goalie Gibson. Winnipeg got on the board with a Tyler Myers goal, his fifth of the season, passed from Blake Wheeler and Bryan Little. The Ducks replied with a Ryan Kesler power play goal, his sixth of the year, made possible by Chris Stewart and Bieksa. The Premier League wraps up its annual holiday blitz with all teams in action before 10 days with no league games. Saturday has eight of those games, beginning with...

West Ham United hosting Liverpool. Simon Mignolet and Adrian are the goalies. West Ham United began in the tenth minute on a Michail Antonio goal, via Enner Valencia. In the eighteenth minute, Manuel Lanzini of West Ham United took a yellow card. Liverpool had a yellow card for a twenty-fourth minute foul by Lucas Leiva. West Ham United added on with an Andy Carroll goal in the fifty-fifth minute, passed from Mark Noble. This made it 2-0, the final.

Down in London, Arsenal welcomes Newcastle United. Robert Elliot and Petr Cech get the starts in goal. Newcastle United saw a yellow card in the thirty-fifth minute for a Jack Colback foul. Newcastle United had a yellow card given to Daryl Janmaat in the sixty-eighth minute. Arsenal got going in the seventy-second minute with a Laurent Koscielny goal, passed from Olivier Giroud. Mathieu Flamini of Arsenal received a yellow card for an eighty-second minute foul. In stoppage time, Mesut Ozil of Arsenal took a yellow card for time wasting. The final held at 1-0 Arsenal.

North to Leicester City bringing in Bournemouth. Artur Boruc and Kasper Schmeichel are in the six-yard boxes. Harry Arter of Bournemouth had a yellow card for his thirty-fourth minute foul. In the fifty-seventh minute, Simon Francis of Bournemouth received a straight red card for a foul in the box. Marc Albrighton of Leicester City took a yellow card for his sixty-second minute foul. The game ended in a 0-0 draw.

In Manchester, United hosts Swansea City. Lukasz Fabianski and David de Gea are the keepers. Manchester United had a yellow card for a forty-second minute foul by Chris Smalling. Manchester United led off in the forty-seventh minute with an Anthony Martial goal, via Ashley Young. Angel Rangel of Swansea City took a yellow card for a sixty-fourth minute dive. Swansea City tied it on a seventieth minute goal from Gylfi Sigurdsson, made possible by Modou Barrow. Manchester United regained the lead in the seventy-seventh minute on a Wayne Rooney goal, assisted by Martial. Daley Blind of Manchester United had a yellow card for an eighty-fifth minute foul. Alan Hutton of Aston Villa took a yellow card for a forty-third minute foul. Aston Villa tied it in the sixty-third minute with a Carles Gil goal, passed from Adama Traore. In the sixty-ninth minute, a Traore foul earned him a yellow card for Aston Villa. Sunderland regained the lead with a Jermain Defoe goal in the seventy-second minute, set up by Adam Johnson. Aston Villa's Gil took a yellow card in the eighty-seventh minute. Sunderland added on with a stoppage time Defoe goal, assisted by Ola Toivonen. Later on, Lee Cattermole of Sunderland and Rudy Gestede of Aston Villa took yellow cards for an argument. Sunderland won 3-1.

Continuing along, West Bromwich Albion hosts Stoke City. Jack Butland and Boaz Myhill guard the woodwork. Jonny Evans won it 2-1 for West Bromwich Albion on a stoppage time goal, although teammate Chris Brunt took a yellow card a few minutes later for time wasting to close out their win.

Saturday ends with Watford welcoming Manchester City. Joe Hart and Heurelho Gomes are the gloved men. In the thirty-eighth minute, Nyom of Watford took a yellow card for his dive. Watford got a gift to open the scoring, as Aleksandar Kolarov put the ball in his own net for an own goal in the fifty-fifth minute. Manchester City tied it on an eighty-second minute Yaya Toure goal, via Kolarov. Manchester City took the lead with a Sergio Aguero goal, set up by Bacary Sagna. This made it 2-1, the final.

On Sunday, London rivals Crystal Palace bring in Chelsea. Thibaut Courtois and Wayne Hennessey are the gloved men. Crystal Palace had a yellow card for a Damien Delaney foul in the thirteenth minute. Chelsea struck first in the twenty-ninth minute on an Oscar goal, set up by Diego Costa. Crystal Palace saw a yellow card assessed to Mile Jedinak in the fifty-seventh minute for his foul. Chelsea added on with a sixtieth minute Willian goal, coming off of Oscar. Chelsea extended the lead as Costa scored in the sixty-sixth minute. Scott Dann of Crystal Palace had a yellow card for his eightieth minute foul. The game ended 3-0 for Chelsea.
