NHL 2022-23 - Day 124

There's 13 games on for a big Saturday. First up...

The St. Louis Blues host the Colorado Avalanche. Justus Annunen and Jordan Binnington man the nets. Colorado led off in the first period with a Mikko Rantanen goal, his thirty-fifth of the season, coming off of Nathan MacKinnon and J.T. Compher. The Avalanche added on in the second period with a Bowen Byram goal, his third of the year, via Rantanen and Samuel Girard. St. Louis got on the board with a Sammy Blais goal, his second of the season, assisted by Jordan Kyrou and Logan Brown. Colorado replied in the third period with a Valeri Nichushkin power play goal, his ninth of the year, powered by Artturi Lehkonen and MacKinnon. The Avalanche extended the lead as Byram scored his second of the game and fourth of the season on the power play, with the help of Girard and Compher. The Lightning retook the lead on a Steven Stamkos power play goal, his twenty-fifth of the season, powered by Victor Hedman and Nikita Kucherov. The Golden Knights tied it on a Jonathan Marchessault goal, his sixteenth of the year, coming off of Paul Cotter and Shea Theodore. Vegas pulled ahead with a Theodore goal, his sixth of the season, helped along by Reilly Smith and William Karlsson. The Kings retook the lead with an Anze Kopitar goal, his eighteenth of the season, assisted by Quinton Byfield and Matt Roy. Los Angeles added on with a Blake Lizotte goal, his ninth of the year, via Alex Iafallo and Fiala. The Kings extended the lead as Roy scored his eighth of the season, thanks to Kopitar and Sean Durzi. Los Angeles padded the lead on a Fiala goal, his second of the game and twenty-first of the year, helped along by Lizotte. Connor Ingram replaced Vejmelka in goal. Buffalo led off in the first period with a Dylan Cozens goal, his twentieth of the season, going in unassisted. San Jose tied it on an Evgeny Svechnikov goal, his sixth of the year, courtesy of Jacob MacDonald and Steven Lorentz. The Sabres pulled ahead on an Owen Power goal, his fourth of the season, coming off of Alex Tuch and Jeff Skinner. The Sharks retied it on an Alexander Barabanov goal, his eleventh of the year, via Logan Couture and Erik Karlsson. Buffalo took the lead in the third period on a Skinner goal, his twenty-first of the season, passed from Tage Thompson. The Sabres iced it at 4-2 with a Tuch empty net goal, his twenty-sixth of the year, set up by Rasmus Dahlin. The three stars went to Skinner, Tuch, and Power.

Finally, the Seattle Kraken host the Detroit Red Wings. Ville Husso and Philipp Grubauer protect the nets. The Kraken extended the lead in the third period as Eeli Tolvanen scored his twelfth of the season, thanks to Daniel Sprong and Will Borgen. New York tied it on an Anders Lee goal, his twentieth of the year, via Mathew Barzal. The Penguins retook the lead in the second period with a Rickard Rakell goal, his twentieth of the season, assisted by Jake Guentzel and Kris Letang. Pittsburgh added on with a Jason Zucker goal, his fourteenth of the year, guided in by Joseph and Ruhwedel. The Islanders replied with a Brock Nelson goal, his twenty-third of the season, courtesy of Scott Mayfield and Alexander Romanov. Chicago tied it on a Sam Lafferty goal, his ninth of the year, going in unassisted. The Maple Leafs took the lead back with a Rasmus Sandin goal, his fourth of the season, fueled by John Tavares. The Avalanche added on in the second period with a Denis Malgin goal, his fourth of the year, via Nathan MacKinnon and Josh Manson. Minnesota got on the board with a Joel Eriksson Ek power play goal, his twenty-first of the season, powered by Mats Zuccarello and Matt Boldy. Colorado replied with a MacKinnon goal, his eighteenth of the year, guided in by Artturi Lehkonen and Toews. The Flyers tied it in the second period with a James van Riemsdyk goal, his ninth of the year, guided in by Tippett and Morgan Frost. Seattle gained the lead with a Jaden Schwartz goal, his eleventh of the season, fueled by Eberle and Alexander Wennberg. The Kraken added on in the third period with another Schwartz goal, his second of the game and twelfth of the year, via Wennberg and Will Borgen. Philadelphia pulled one back with a Patrick Brown shorthanded goal, his second of the campaign, set up by Ivan Provorov. This only made it 4-3, the final, with the three stars going to Schwartz, Eberle, and Wennberg, while Tippett get the honorable mentions.

Along to DC, as the Washington Capitals bring in the San Jose Sharks. Kaapo Kahkonen and Charlie Lindgren are the backups in goal. San Jose led off in the first period with an Evgeny Svechnikov goal, his fifth of the season, made possible by Jonah Gadjovich and Erik Karlsson. The Sharks added on in the second period with an Alexander Barabanov power play goal, his ninth of the year, powered by Tomas Hertl and Karlsson. Washington got on the board with an Evgeny Kuznetsov goal, his eighth of the season, via Erik Gustafsson and Trevor van Riemsdyk. San Jose replied in the third period with a Karlsson goal, his eighteenth of the year, fueled by Barabanov and Logan Couture. The Sharks iced it at 4-1 with a Hertl empty net goal, his fifteenth of the campaign, set up by Nick Bonino. The three stars were Karlsson, Barabanov, and Hertl.

Finally, the Vegas Golden Knights host the Anaheim Ducks. John Gibson and Adin Hill start in goal. Vegas began in the first period with a Paul Cotter goal, his tenth of the season, assisted by Nicolas Hague and Jack Eichel. The Golden Knights added on with a Brett Howden goal, his second of the year, via Keegan Kolesar and Nicolas Roy in the second period. Anaheim got on the board with a Frank Vatrano goal, his thirteenth of the season, coming off of Isac Lundestrom and Colton White. Vegas answered in the third period on a Shea Theodore goal, his fifth of the year, courtesy of Michael Amadio and William Karlsson. The Golden Knights extended the lead as Phil Kessel scored his eleventh of the season, thanks to William Carrier and Theodore. Vegas padded the lead on an Eichel goal, his seventeenth of the year, passed from Reilly Smith and Alec Martinez. The Ducks got one back with a Lundestrom goal, his second of the season, with helpers from Derek Grant and Trevor Zegras. The Golden Knights replied with an Amadio goal, his ninth of the year, made possible by Smith and Karlsson. Vegas continued on a Carrier goal, his fourteenth of the season, helped along by Chandler Stephenson and Kessel. The final stood at 7-2, with the three stars being Eichel, Theodore, and Carrier, while Kessel, Lundestrom, Karlsson, and Smith get the honorable mentions.
