There's four games on today, all early. First up...
The Montreal Canadiens host the Edmonton Oilers. Stuart Skinner and Jake Allen are in goal. Montreal started in the first period with an Alex Belzile goal, via Michael Pezzetta and Jesse Ylonen. The Canadiens added on with a Jordan Harris goal in the second period, his second of the season, fueled by Evgenii Dadonov and Johnathan Kovacevic. Montreal extended the lead on a Josh Anderson power play goal, his fifteenth of the year, powered by Dadonov and Jonathan Drouin. Edmonton got on the board with a Leon Draisaitl power play goal, his thirtieth of the season, with assists provided by Zach Hyman and Evan Bouchard. The Oilers got closer with an Evander Kane goal, his ninth of the year, guided in by Darnell Nurse and Bouchard. The Canadiens replied with a Rafael Harvey-Pinard goal, his sixth of the season, helped along by Michael Matheson and Nick Suzuki. Montreal padded the lead in the third period on a Harris goal, his second of the game and third of the year, with helpers from Joel Armia and Drouin. The Canadiens finished it at 6-2 with a Christian Dvorak shorthanded goal, his eighth of the campaign, set up by Kirby Dach. The three stars belonged to Harris, Drouin, and Dadonov, while Bouchard gets an honorable mention.
Stateside, the Philadelphia Flyers welcome the Seattle Kraken. Philipp Grubauer and Felix Sandstrom are the goalies. Philadelphia opened in the first period with an Owen Tippett power play goal, his fifteenth of the season, powered by Rasmus Ristolainen and Scott Laughton. Seattle tied it on a Jordan Eberle goal, his eleventh of the year, coming off of Jared McCann. The Kraken pulled ahead on an Eeli Tolvanen goal, his eleventh of the season, assisted by Oliver Bjorkstrand. The Flyers tied it in the second period with a James van Riemsdyk goal, his ninth of the year, guided in by Tippett and Morgan Frost. Seattle gained the lead with a Jaden Schwartz goal, his eleventh of the season, fueled by Eberle and Alexander Wennberg. The Kraken added on in the third period with another Schwartz goal, his second of the game and twelfth of the year, via Wennberg and Will Borgen. Philadelphia pulled one back with a Patrick Brown shorthanded goal, his second of the campaign, set up by Ivan Provorov. This only made it 4-3, the final, with the three stars going to Schwartz, Eberle, and Wennberg, while Tippett get the honorable mentions.
Along to DC, as the Washington Capitals bring in the San Jose Sharks. Kaapo Kahkonen and Charlie Lindgren are the backups in goal. San Jose led off in the first period with an Evgeny Svechnikov goal, his fifth of the season, made possible by Jonah Gadjovich and Erik Karlsson. The Sharks added on in the second period with an Alexander Barabanov power play goal, his ninth of the year, powered by Tomas Hertl and Karlsson. Washington got on the board with an Evgeny Kuznetsov goal, his eighth of the season, via Erik Gustafsson and Trevor van Riemsdyk. San Jose replied in the third period with a Karlsson goal, his eighteenth of the year, fueled by Barabanov and Logan Couture. The Sharks iced it at 4-1 with a Hertl empty net goal, his fifteenth of the campaign, set up by Nick Bonino. The three stars were Karlsson, Barabanov, and Hertl.
Finally, the Vegas Golden Knights host the Anaheim Ducks. John Gibson and Adin Hill start in goal. Vegas began in the first period with a Paul Cotter goal, his tenth of the season, assisted by Nicolas Hague and Jack Eichel. The Golden Knights added on with a Brett Howden goal, his second of the year, via Keegan Kolesar and Nicolas Roy in the second period. Anaheim got on the board with a Frank Vatrano goal, his thirteenth of the season, coming off of Isac Lundestrom and Colton White. Vegas answered in the third period on a Shea Theodore goal, his fifth of the year, courtesy of Michael Amadio and William Karlsson. The Golden Knights extended the lead as Phil Kessel scored his eleventh of the season, thanks to William Carrier and Theodore. Vegas padded the lead on an Eichel goal, his seventeenth of the year, passed from Reilly Smith and Alec Martinez. The Ducks got one back with a Lundestrom goal, his second of the season, with helpers from Derek Grant and Trevor Zegras. The Golden Knights replied with an Amadio goal, his ninth of the year, made possible by Smith and Karlsson. Vegas continued on a Carrier goal, his fourteenth of the season, helped along by Chandler Stephenson and Kessel. The final stood at 7-2, with the three stars being Eichel, Theodore, and Carrier, while Kessel, Lundestrom, Karlsson, and Smith get the honorable mentions.
