There's 13 games on today, including a pair of matinees. The action begins with...

The Ottawa Senators hosting the New York Rangers. Alexandar Georgiev and Matt Murray make the starts in goal. Ottawa started in the first period with a Nick Paul goal, his second of the season, assisted by Tim Stutzle and Connor Brown. The Senators added on in the third period with a Josh Norris goal, his second of the year, going in unassisted. New York got on the board with a Chris Kreider power play goal, his fourth of the season, powered by Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad. Anton Forsberg replaced Murray in goal. The Rangers tied it with a Ryan Lindgren goal, via Adam Fox and Kreider. New York won 3-2 with a Barclay Goodrow goal, his second of the year, passed from Sammy Blais and Jacob Trouba. The three stars were Kreider, Goodrow, and Lindgren.

Along to Washington, as the Capitals welcome the Calgary Flames. Dan Vladar and Vitek Vanecek draw the starts in goal. Calgary opened in the first period with an Andrew Mangiapane power play goal, his third of the season, powered by Milan Lucic and Noah Hanifin. The Flames added on with an Elias Lindholm goal, his fourth of the year, guided in by Johnny Gaudreau. Calgary extended the lead as Lindholm scored a shorthanded and unassisted goal, his second of the game and fifth of the season. Ilya Samsonov replaced Vanecek in goal for the second period. Washington got on the board with an Evgeny Kuznetsov shorthanded goal, his fourth of the year, going in unassisted. The Capitals got closer with a Martin Fehervary goal, coming off of Tom Wilson and Alex Ovechkin. Washington tied it with an unassisted Ovechkin goal, his fifth of the season. The Flames won 4-3 in overtime with a Lindholm goal to complete his hat trick on his sixth of the year, set up by Gaudreau and the goalie Vladar. The three stars were Lindholm, Gaudreau, and Ovechkin. 

Westward to Minnesota, as the Wild bring in the Anaheim Ducks. John Gibson and Cam Talbot protect the nets. Anaheim led off in the first period with a Rickard Rakell goal, his third of the season, coming off of Hampus Lindholm and Adam Henrique. Minnesota tied it on a Brandon Duhaime goal, assisted by Nico Sturm and Matt Dumba. The Wild took the lead with a Jared Spurgeon goal, guided in by Alex Goligoski and Jordan Greenway. The Ducks retied it on a Troy Terry goal, his second of the year, via Lindholm and Ryan Getzlaf. Anaheim took the lead in the second period with a Rakell power play goal, his second of the game and fourth of the season, powered by Jamie Drysdale and Getzlaf. Minnesota retied it on a Jon Merrill goal, helped along by Marcus Foligno. The Wild won 4-3 in overtime with a Ryan Hartman goal, his second of the year, fueled by Mats Zuccarello and Jonas Brodin. The three stars were Hartman, Rakell, and Lindholm, while Getzlaf gets an honorable mention.

Back east, the Montreal Canadiens host the Detroit Red Wings. Thomas Greiss and Jake Allen are in the blue paint. Detroit was first to score in the first period with a Dylan Larkin power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Moritz Seider. Montreal tied it on a Ben Chiarot goal, fueled by Jonathan Drouin and David Savard. The Canadiens took the lead with a Mike Hoffman power play goal, coming off of Sami Niku and Christian Dvorak. Montreal added on with a Dvorak goal, courtesy of Niku and Drouin. The Canadiens extended the lead as Mathieu Perreault scored an unassisted goal. Montreal padded the lead on another Perreault goal, his second of the game, made possible by Tyler Toffoli and Cole Caufield. Alex Nedeljkovic replaced Greiss in goal. The Canadiens continued in the third period with Perreault finishing his hat trick, with the help of Chiarot into an empty net. The final was 6-1, and the three stars went to Perreault, Dvorak, and Niku, while Drouin gets an honorable mention.

Down south, the Tampa Bay Lightning welcome the Colorado Avalanche. Darcy Kuemper and Andrei Vasilevskiy tend the twines. Colorado kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Gabriel Landeskog goal, his second of the season, made possible by Nathan MacKinnon and Bowen Byram. Tampa Bay tied it in the second period with a Mathieu Joseph goal, via Anthony Cirelli and Alex Killorn. The Avalanche took the lead back with a Mikko Rantanen goal, his third of the year, assisted by MacKinnon and Cale Makar. The Lightning tied it in the third period with a Steven Stamkos goal, his fourth of the season, coming off of Ondrej Palat and Ryan McDonagh. Colorado retook the lead with a MacKinnon power play goal, powered by Makar and Landeskog. Tampa Bay tied it again on a Brayden Point goal, his second of the year, courtesy of Victor Hedman and Stamkos. The tie lasted to a shootout, where Rantanen, Landeskog and Makar lifted the Avalanche 4-3 over Hedman, Stamkos, and the Lightning. The three stars went to MacKinnon, Landeskog, and Makar, while Stamkos gets an honorable mention.

North again to New Jersey, where the Devils bring in the Buffalo Sabres. Dustin Tokarski and Nico Daws are the backups in goal. Buffalo began in the first period with a Dylan Cozens power play goal, powered by Jacob Bryson and Kyle Okposo. New Jersey tied it on a Nico Hischier power play goal, with assists provided by Dougie Hamilton and Tomas Tatar. The Devils won 2-1 in overtime with a Pavel Zacha goal, his second of the season, via Damon Severson. The three stars were awarded to Daws (24 for 25 in saves), Zacha, and Hischier.

In Philadelphia, the Flyers host the Florida Panthers. Sergei Bobrovsky and Carter Hart are the masked men. Florida dented the scoreboard in the first period with a Jonathan Huberdeau power play goal, powered by Aaron Ekblad and Patric Hornqvist. Philadelphia tied it in the second period with a Claude Giroux power play goal, his third of the season, with assists provided by Sean Couturier. The Flyers took the lead with a shorthanded Cam Atkinson goal, his fourth of the year, going in unassisted. The Panthers tied it on an Owen Tippett goal, guided in by MacKenzie Weegar and Huberdeau. Florida took the lead in the third period with a Huberdeau shorthanded goal, his second of the game, set up by Sam Bennett. The Panthers iced it at 4-2 with an empty net goal by Sam Reinhart, his  of the campaign, with helpers from Anton Lundell and Mason Marchment. The three stars belonged to Huberdeau, Tippett, and Bobrovsky (27 for 29 in saves).

Across the state, the Pittsburgh Penguins welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jack Campbell and Tristan Jarry patrol the creases. Pittsburgh cracked the scoresheet in the first period with a Drew O'Connor goal, his second of the season, assisted by Marcus Pettersson and Mark Friedman. Toronto tied it on a Jason Spezza goal, his third of the year, guided in by Pierre Engvall and Wayne Simmonds. The Penguins took the lead in the second period with a Mike Matheson goal, coming off of Kasperi Kapanen. Pittsburgh added on with a Jason Zucker goal, his second of the season, made possible by Danton Heinen. The Penguins extended the lead as O'Connor scored his second of the game and third of the year, helped along by Heinen and Pettersson. Pittsburgh padded the lead on a Pettersson goal, via Evan Rodrigues and Jake Guentzel. Michael Hutchinson replaced Campbell in goal for the third period. The Penguins continued in the third period with a Brian Boyle goal, his second of the season, fueled by Dominik Simon. Pittsburgh kept going with a Rodrigues power play goal, his third of the year, powered by Matheson and Kapanen. This made it 7-1, the final, with the three stars awarded to Pettersson, O'Connor, and Matheson, while Rodrigues, Heinen, and Kapanen get the honorable mentions.

Next up, the Columbus Blue Jackets bring in the Carolina Hurricanes. Frederik Andersen and Joonas Korpisalo receive the starting nods in goal. Carolina drew first blood in the first period with a Jesper Fast goal, his third of the season, coming off of Jordan Staal. The Hurricanes added on with a Vincent Trocheck power play goal, powered by Andrei Svechnikov and Tony DeAngelo. Columbus got on the board in the second period with a Boone Jenner power play goal, his fourth of the year, with assists provided by Jakub Voracek and Patrik Laine. Carolina replied with a Staal power play goal, courtesy of Brett Pesce and Jesperi Kotkaniemi. The Hurricanes extended the lead in the third period as Sebastian Aho scored his third of the season on the power play, thanks to Trocheck and Teuvo Teravainen. Carolina padded the lead with a Trocheck goal, his second of the game, with helpers from Svechnikov and Jaccob Slavin. This stood for a 5-1 win, with the three stars handed to Trocheck, Staal, and Svechnikov.

In Canada again, the Winnipeg Jets host the Nashville Predators. Juuse Saros and Connor Hellebuyck guard the cages. Nashville struck first in the first period with a Colton Sissons goal, assisted by Tanner Jeannot and Nick Cousins. Winnipeg tied it on an Adam Lowry goal, fueled by Dylan DeMelo and Jansen Harkins. The Jets took the lead in the second period with a Pierre-Luc Dubois goal, his fourth of the season, coming off of Nate Schmidt and Evgeny Svechnikov. Winnipeg added on with a Paul Stastny power play goal, powered by Kyle Connor and Neal Pionk. The Predators got one back with a Cousins power play goal, with assists provided by Thomas Novak and Philip Tomasino. The Jets answered with a Kristian Vesalainen goal, passed from Schmidt and Dubois. Nashville pulled one back with a Roman Josi goal in the third period, his second of the season made possible by Dante Fabbro and Novak. Winnipeg answered with a Stastny goal, his second of the game, helped along by Pionk and Brenden Dillon. The Jets extended the lead as Connor scored on the power play, his sixth of the year, thanks to Schmidt and Nikolaj Ehlers. The Predators responded with a Tomasino power play goal, his second of the campaign, with helpers from Cousins and Novak. This made it 6-4, the final, with the three stars given to Stastny, Connor, and Dubois, while Schmidt, Pionk, Cousins, Novak, and Tomasino get the honorable mentions.

Stateside, the St. Louis Blues welcome the Los Angeles Kings. Cal Petersen and Jordan Binnington are the steady netminders. Los Angeles got going in the first period with an Alex Iafallo goal, helped along by Alexander Edler. St. Louis tied it on a David Perron power play goal, his third of the season, powered by Torey Krug and Vladimir Tarasenko. The Blues took the lead with an Ivan Barbashev shorthanded goal, his third of the year, set up by Marco Scandella. St. Louis added on in the second period with another Perron goal, his second of the game and fourth of the season, assisted by Krug and Klim Kostin. The Blues extended the lead as Jake Neighbours scored, thanks to Brayden Schenn and Kyle Clifford. St. Louis padded the lead on a Ryan O'Reilly power play goal, his second of the year, with assists provided by Schenn and Perron. The Blues continued in the third period with a James Neal power play goal, coming off of Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou. The Kings got one back with a Dustin Brown goal, his second of the season, via Sean Walker and Viktor Arvidsson. Los Angeles pulled closer on a Carl Grundstrom goal, courtesy of Edler and Blake Lizotte. St. Louis answered with a Perron power play goal to complete his hat trick on his fifth of the year, passed from Tarasenko and Krug. This stood for a 7-3 win, with the three stars going to Perron, Krug, and Schenn, while Tarasenko and Edler get the honorable mentions.

Southwest to Arizona, as the Coyotes bring in the New York Islanders. Ilya Sorokin and Karel Vejmelka are in the creases. New York opened in the first period with a Cal Clutterbuck goal, his second of the season, with a lone helper from Adam Pelech. The Islanders added on in the second period with a Brock Nelson power play goal, his second of the year, powered by Josh Bailey and Noah Dobson. New York extended the lead as Anthony Beauvillier scored his second of the season in the third period, thanks to Nelson and Kyle Palmieri. This stood for a 3-0 win, with the three stars awarded to Sorokin (26 save shutout), Nelson, and Clutterbuck.

Finally, the Seattle Kraken host the Vancouver Canucks. Thatcher Demko and Philipp Grubauer will be in goal. Seattle started in the first period with a Vince Dunn goal, assisted by Adam Larsson and Joonas Donskoi. Vancouver tied it in the second period with a Bo Horvat goal, his second of the season, made possible by Conor Garland. The Kraken took the lead back in the third period with a Mark Giordano goal, via Jared McCann and Alex Wennberg. The Canucks tied it again on a Horvat power play goal, his second of the game and third of the year, powered by Quinn Hughes and J.T. Miller. Vancouver pulled ahead with a Garland goal, his third of the season, going in unassisted. The Canucks iced it at 4-2 with a Justin Dowling empty net goal, his second of the year, set up by Brock Boeser and Miller. The three stars were Horvat, Garland, and Miller.

NHL 2021-22 - Day 11

Four games on for a Friday night, beginning with...

The Toronto Maple Leafs hosting the San Jose Sharks. Adin Hill and Michael Hutchinson are the lesser-known goalies. San Jose got going in the second period with a Logan Couture goal, his second of the season, helped along by Marc-Edouard Vlasic. Toronto tied it on a Jason Spezza goal, his second of the year, via Pierre Engvall and Wayne Simmonds. The Sharks retook the lead with a Timo Meier goal, his second of the season, going in unassisted. The Maple Leafs tied it again with an Ondrej Kase goal, an unassisted tally. San Jose regained the lead with an Erik Karlsson goal, his second of the year, fueled by Jacob Middleton. The Sharks added on in the third period with a Jonathan Dahlen goal, his third of the season, guided in by Couture and Meier. Toronto shot back with a John Tavares goal, courtesy of William Nylander and Jake Muzzin. San Jose iced it at 5-3 with a Couture empty net goal, his second of the game and third of the year, set up by Andrew Cogliano. The three stars were Couture, Meier, and Karlsson. 

In Buffalo, the Sabres welcome the Boston Bruins. Linus Ullmark and Craig Anderson are the goalies. Boston led off in the first period with a David Pastrnak goal, assisted by Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron. The Bruins added on with a Tomas Nosek goal, fueled by Charlie Coyle and Taylor Hall, Boston extended the lead in the second period on a Coyle power play goal, powered by Marchand and Mike Reilly. Buffalo got on the board in the third period with a Victor Olofsson goal, his second of the season, made possible by Rasmus Asplund and Colin Miller. The Bruins iced it at 4-1 with a Hall empty net goal, set up by Coyle. The three stars went to Coyle, Ullmark (35 for 36 in saves), and Hall, while Marchand gets an honorable mention. 

Down in Dallas, the Stars bring in the Los Angeles Kings. Jonathan Quick and Braden Holtby are the veteran goalies. Los Angeles began in the first period with an Anze Kopitar goal, his sixth of the season, coming off of Viktor Arvidsson and Dustin Brown. Dallas tied it on a Tyler Seguin power play goal, powered by Ryan Suter and Miro Heiskanen. The Kings replied in the second period with a Gabriel Vilardi power play goal, with assists provided by Arthur Kaliyev and Sean Walker. The Stars tied it again in the third period with a Heiskanen power play goal, helped along by Joe Pavelski and Seguin. Dallas won 3-2 in overtime with a Denis Gurianov goal, set up by Heiskanen and Roope Hintz. The three stars were Heiskanen, Seguin, and Gurianov.

Finally, the Vegas Golden Knights host the Edmonton Oilers. Mikko Koskinen and Robin Lehner protect the nets. Vegas struck first in the first period with a Nicolas Roy goal, via Zach Whitecloud. Edmonton tied it on a Zach Hyman power play goal, his fourth of the season, powered by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. The Golden Knights answered in the second period with a Nolan Patrick goal, assisted by Dylan Coghlan and Brayden McNabb. The Oilers replied with a Hyman goal, his second of the game and fifth of the year, coming off of McDavid and Jesse Puljujarvi. Edmonton took the lead with a Draisaitl goal, his third of the season, guided in by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Kris Russell. Vegas tied it in the third period with a Nicolas Hague goal, fueled by Roy and Chandler Stephenson. The Oilers took the lead back with a Zack Kassian goal, his third of the year, with a lone helper from Duncan Keith. Edmonton iced it at 5-3 with a Draisaitl empty net goal, his second of the game and fourth of the campaign, going in unassisted. The three stars were Hyman, Draisaitl, and McDavid, while Roy gets an honorable mention.

We've got ten games on tonight, beginning with...

The Montreal Canadiens hosting the Carolina Hurricanes. Frederik Andersen and Jake Allen will protect the nets. Carolina got going in the second period with a Sebastian Aho power play goal, powered by Teuvo Teravainen and Tony DeAngelo. The Hurricanes added on with an Andrei Svechnikov goal, his fourth of the season, coming off of Martin Necas and Vincent Trocheck. Montreal got on the board with a Tyler Toffoli power play goal, with assists provided by Nick Suzuki and Jonathan Drouin. Carolina replied in the third period with a Jesperi Kotkaniemi goal, made possible by Brady Skjei and Aho. The Hurricanes iced it at 4-1 with an Aho empty net goal, his second of the game, set up by Teravainen and Trocheck. The three stars were Aho, Andersen (27 for 28 in saves), and Teravainen, while Trocheck gets an honorable mention.

New Jersey got on the board with a Janne Kuokkaken power play goal, powered by Damon Severson and Yegor Sharangovich. This only made it 4-1, the final, with the three stars given to Sprong, Kuznetsov, and Vanecek (24 for 25 in saves), while Ovechkin gets an honorable mention.

Boston tied it on a Brad Marchand goal, his third of the season, guided in by David Pastrnak and McAvoy. The Flyers restored the lead on an Atkinson goal, his second of the game and third of the year, fueled by Farabee in the third period. Philadelphia added on with a Travis Konecny goal, his third of the season, with helpers from Sean Couturier and Claude Giroux. The Flyers iced it at 6-3 with a Couturier empty net power play goal, set up by Yandle. The three stars were Atkinson, Farabee, and Couturier, while Brassard, Yandle, and McAvoy get the honorable mentions.

The other game sees the Vegas Golden Knights bring in the St. Louis Blues. Jordan Binnington and Robin Lehner tend the twines. Vegas began in the first period with a William Karlsson goal, assisted by Reilly Smith and Alec Martinez. St. Louis tied it on a Brandon Saad goal in the second period, courtesy of David Perron and Ryan O'Reilly. The Blues took the lead in the third period with a Vladimir Tarasenko goal, passed from Jordan Kyrou and Brayden Schenn. St. Louis iced it at 3-1 with an Ivan Barbashev empty net goal, his second of the season, set up by Robert Thomas and Colton Parayko. The three stars were Binnington (42 for 43 in saves), Tarasenko, and Lehner (35 for 37 in saves).

NHL 2021-22 - Day 8

We've got 11 games on the docket tonight, beginning with...

The Buffalo Sabres hosting the Vancouver Canucks. Thatcher Demko and Craig Anderson are set to start in goal. Vancouver led off in the first period with a Bo Horvat goal, assisted by Tanner Pearson. Buffalo tied it on a Kyle Okposo goal, his second of the season, made possible by Zemgus Girgensons and Rasmus Dahlin. The Canucks took the lead with a Justin Dowling goal, helped along by Luke Schenn and J.T. Miller. The Sabres tied it in the second period with a Girgensons goal, his second of the year, via Okposo and Dylan Cozens. Buffalo took the lead with a Jeff Skinner goal, courtesy of Colin Miller and Cozens. The Sabres added on with a Tage Thompson goal, fueled by Will Butcher and Victor Olofsson. Buffalo iced it at 5-2 with a Rasmus Asplund empty net goal, going in unassisted. The three stars were Okposo, Girgensons, and Cozens. 

In Montreal, the Canadiens welcome the San Jose Sharks. Adin Hill and Jake Allen are the goalies. San Jose began with a Jonathan Dahlen goal, via Timo Meier and Brent Burns. The Sharks added on with another Dahlen goal, assisted by Logan Couture and Meier. San Jose extended the lead as Erik Karlsson scored, thanks to Matt Nieto and Mario Ferraro. The Sharks padded the lead on a Meier power play goal in the second period, powered by Couture and Karlsson. San Jose continued in the third period with a Kevin Labanc power play goal, with assists provided by Karlsson and William Eklund. The final held at 5-0, with the three stars given to Hill (21 save shutout), Dahlen, and Meier, while Karlsson and Couture get the honorable mentions.

Way south to Tampa Bay, as the Lightning bring in the Florida Panthers. Spencer Knight and Andrei Vasilevskiy are the masked men. Florida got going in the second period with a Brandon Montour goal, coming off of Sam Reinhart and Anton Lundell. Tampa Bay tied it in the third period with a Brayden Point goal, assisted by Victor Hedman and Jan Rutta. The Panthers retook the lead with an Aleksander Barkov goal, his second of the season, fueled by Carter Verhaeghe. Florida added on with a Lundell goal, courtesy of Reinhart and Mason Marchment. The Panthers iced it at 4-1 with an Anthony Duclair empty net goal, his third of the year, set up by Barkov and Gustav Forsling. The three stars were Lundell, Reinhart, and Barkov.

Back north, the New Jersey Devils host the Seattle Kraken. Joey Daccord and Jonathan Bernier are in the blue paint. New Jersey opened in the first period with a Dawson Mercer goal, fueled by Tomas Tatar and Ryan Graves. The Devils added on with a Damon Severson goal, guided in by Jack Hughes and Graves. Seattle got on the board in the second period with a Riley Sheahan goal, via Adam Larsson and Vince Dunn. New Jersey replied with a Jimmy Vesey goal, assisted by Andreas Johnsson and Colton White. The Kraken got one back on a Jared McCann power play goal in the third period, his third of the season, powered by Mark Giordano and Yanni Gourde. The Devils iced it at 4-2 with a Pavel Zacha empty net goal, set up by Michael McLeod and Nico Hischier. The three stars were Graves, Vesey, and Severson.

Over in Pittsburgh, the Penguins welcome the Dallas Stars. Braden Holtby and Tristan Jarry guard the cages. Dallas struck first in the first period with a Michael Raffl goal, his second of the season, passed from Radek Faksa and Miro Heiskanen. Pittsburgh tied it in the second period with a John Marino goal, courtesy of Brock McGinn and Marcus Pettersson. The tie lasted to a shootout, where Joe Pavelski and Alexander Radulov tallied for a 2-1 Stars win over Jeff Carter and the Penguins. The three stars were Holtby (27 for 28 in saves), Jarry (28 for 29 in saves), and Raffl.

To DC, as the Washington Capitals bring in the Colorado Avalanche. Darcy Kuemper and Ilya Samsonov protect the nets. Washington started in the first period with an Evgeny Kuznetsov goal, helped along by John Carlson. Colorado tied it on a shorthanded J.T. Compher goal, his second of the season, going in unassisted. The Capitals took the lead back with a Nick Jensen goal, assisted by Dmitry Orlov and Tom Wilson. The Avalanche tied it in the second period with a Darren Helm goal, via Logan O'Connor and Bowen Byram. Washington took the lead again with an Anthony Mantha goal, made possible by Lars Eller. The Capitals added on with a Kuznetsov goal, his second of the game, passed from Wilson and Orlov. Washington extended the lead as Nic Dowd scored in the third period, thanks to Jensen and Carl Hagelin. Colorado got one back with a Mikko Rantanen power play goal, powered by Nathan MacKinnon and Compher. The Capitals answered with an Alex Ovechkin empty net goal, his fourth of the year, set up by Wilson and Kuznetsov to make it a 6-3 final. The three stars belonged to Kuznetsov, Wilson, and Jensen, while Orlov and Compher get the honorable mentions.

Along to Detroit, as the Red Wings host the Columbus Blue Jackets. Joonas Korpisalo and Thomas Greiss are given the starting nods in goal. Detroit drew first blood in the third period with a Lucas Raymond goal, assisted by Dylan Larkin and Nick Leddy. The Red Wings added on with a Tyler Bertuzzi goal, his fifth of the season, guided in by Larkin and Raymond. Columbus got on the board with a Boone Jenner power play goal, his second of the year, powered by Jakub Voracek and Patrik Laine. Detroit answered with a Vladislav Namestnikov empty net goal, his second of the campaign, set up by Adam Erne and Marc Staal. The Red Wings iced it at 4-1 with an Erne empty net goal, via Namestnikov and Michael Rasmussen. The three stars were Raymond, Larkin, and Namestnikov, while Erne gets an honorable mention.

Next up, the Chicago Blackhawks welcome the New York Islanders. Ilya Sorokin and Marc-Andre Fleury are between the pipes. New York cracked the scoresheet in the second period with an Anthony Beauvillier goal, going in unassisted. The Islanders added on in the third period with an Oliver Wahlstrom goal, his second of the season, an unassisted goal. New York extended the lead as Wahlstrom scored again, his second of the game and third of the year, thanks to Jean-Gabriel Pageau. The Islanders padded the lead on a Cal Clutterbuck goal, going in unassisted. Chicago got on the board with a MacKenzie Entwistle goal, via Kirby Dach and Erik Gustafsson. The three stars of the 4-1 game were Sorokin (39 for 40 in saves), Wahlstrom, and Beauvillier.

Down in Nashville, the Predators bring in the Los Angeles Kings. Calvin Petersen and Juuse Saros patrol the creases. Los Angeles dented the scoreboard in the second period with an Anze Kopitar goal, his fifth of the season, helped along by Dustin Brown and Drew Doughty. Nashville tied it in the third period with a Matt Duchene power play goal, powered by Mikael Granlund and Roman Josi. The Predators took the lead on a Tanner Jeannot goal, via Colton Sissons and Alexandre Carrier. The final stood at 2-1, with the three stars going to Saros (25 for 26 in saves), Jeannot, and Duchene.

Back north, the Minnesota Wild host the Winnipeg Jets. Connor Hellebuyck and Cam Talbot tend the twines. Winnipeg kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Kyle Connor goal, his second of the season, assisted by Andrew Copp and Mark Scheifele. Minnesota tied it on a Mats Zuccarello goal, via Matt Dumba and Kirill Kaprizov. The Jets retook the lead with another Connor goal, his second of the game and third of the year, with a lone helper by Copp. The Wild retied it on a Joel Eriksson Ek power play goal, powered by Zuccarello and Jared Spurgeon. Winnipeg took the lead with a Josh Morrissey power play goal, with assists provided by Paul Stastny and Neal Pionk. Minnesota retied it again on a Zuccarello goal, his second of the game, made possible by Alex Goligoski. The Jets retook the lead once more in the third period with a Pierre-Luc Dubois power play goal, his second of the season, coming off of Connor and Nate Schmidt. Winnipeg added on with a Copp goal, his second of the year, fueled by Scheifele and Pionk. The Wild pulled one back with a Marcus Foligno power play goal, his second of the season, guided in by Goligoski and Frederick Gaudreau. Minnesota tied it on an Eriksson Ek goal, his second of the game, helped along by Zuccarello and Kaprizov. The Wild won 6-5 in overtime with an Eriksson Ek power play goal, set up by Kaprizov. The three stars were Eriksson Ek, Zuccarello, and Kaprizov, while Goligoski, Connor, Copp, Scheifele, and Pionk get the honorable mentions.

Finally, the Edmonton Oilers host the Anaheim Ducks. Anthony Stolarz is mismatched with Mike Smith in goal. Anaheim was first to score in the first period with a Kevin Shattenkirk goal, his second of the season, made possible by Trevor Zegras and Adam Henrique. Edmonton tied it on a Zack Kassian goal, via Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Warren Foegele. The Oilers took the lead on with a Connor McDavid goal, his fourth of the year, guided in by Leon Draisaitl and Jesse Puljujarvi. The Ducks tied it on a Sam Steel goal, helped along by Isac Lundestrom and Jakob Silfverberg. Edmonton took the lead again with a Draisaitl power play goal, powered by McDavid and Nugent-Hopkins. Anaheim tied it with a Nicolas Deslauriers goal, coming off of Ryan Getzlaf and Troy Terry. The Ducks pulled ahead with a Steel goal, his second of the game, courtesy of Lundestrom and Silfverberg. Mikko Koskinen replaced Smith in goal. The Oilers retied it on a Kassian power play goal, his second of the game, with assists provided by Evan Bouchard and Darnell Nurse. Edmonton took the lead with a Bouchard goal, assisted by Puljujarvi and Draisaitl. The Oilers padded the lead with a Draisaitl empty net goal, his second of the game, set up by Zach Hyman and McDavid. Anaheim got one back on a Shattenkirk goal, his second of the game and third of the year, passed from Terry. NHL 2021-22 - Day 7

Four games on to complete the first week of NHL play. First up...

The Philadelphia Flyers host the Seattle Kraken. Philipp Grubauer and Carter Hart are the masked men. Philadelphia opened in the first period with a Claude Giroux goal, his second of the season, assisted by Travis Konecny. The Flyers added on with a Konecny goal, his second of the year, courtesy of Keith Yandle. Philadelphia extended the lead as Derick Brassard scored, thanks to Justin Braun and Travis Sanheim. The Flyers padded the lead in the second period with a Ryan Ellis goal, via Brassard and Joel Farabee. Philadelphia chased Grubauer with a Braun goal, coming off of James van Riemsdyk and Oskar Lindblom. Chris Driedger replaced Grubauer in goal. Seattle got on the board with a Carson Soucy goal, passed from Jared McCann and Joonas Donskoi. The Flyers responded in the third period with a Farabee goal, his second of the season, guided in by Cam Atkinson and Brassard. The final held at 6-1, with the three stars handed to Brassard, Konecny, and Braun, while Farabee gets an honorable mention.

Along to Toronto, as the Maple Leafs welcome the New York Rangers. Igor Shesterkin and Jack Campbell tend the twines. New York started in the first period with a Mika Zibanejad goal, going in unassisted. Toronto tied it in the second period with a Michael Bunting goal, his second of the season, via Morgan Rielly and John Tavares. The Rangers won 2-1 in overtime with an Artemi Panarin goal, set up by Zibanejad. The three stars were awarded to Zibanejad, Shesterkin (40 for 41 in saves), and Panarin.

Westward to Calgary, as the Flames bring in the Anaheim Ducks. John Gibson and Jacob Markstrom guard the cages. Calgary led off in the first period with a Blake Coleman goal, fueled by Johnny Gaudreau. Anaheim tied it on a Cam Fowler power play goal, powered by Kevin Shattenkirk and Troy Terry. The Flames retook the lead in the second period with an Elias Lindholm goal, his second of the season, coming off of Gaudreau and Rasmus Andersson. The Ducks tied it in the third period with a Rickard Rakell goal, helped along by Adam Henrique and Josh Mahura. Anaheim won 3-2 in overtime with a Jamie Drysdale goal, courtesy of Terry. The three stars were Terry, Drysdale, and Gaudreau.

Finally, the Arizona Coyotes host the St. Louis Blues. Jordan Binnington and Carter Hutton are the goalies. Arizona began in the first period with a Clayton Keller power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Phil Kessel and Shayne Gostisbehere. St. Louis tied it on a Pavel Buchnevich goal, passed from Jordan Kyrou and Torey Krug. The Coyotes retook the lead in the second period with a Lawson Crouse goal, coming off of Kessel and Gostisbehere. The Blues answered with a Justin Faulk power play goal, his second of the year, with assists provided by Kyrou and Tyler Bozak. St. Louis took the lead on an unassisted Kyrou goal. The Blues added on with a Klim Kostin goal, fueled by Robert Thomas and Faulk. St. Louis extended the lead as Kostin scored again, thanks to Jake Neighbours and Robert Bortuzzo. The Blues padded the lead on another Kyrou goal, his second of the game, with helpers from Ryan O'Reilly and Jake Walman. Karel Vejmelka replaced Hutton in goal. Arizona got one back in the third period with a Christian Fischer goal, guided in by Keller and Gostisbehere. The Coyotes got closer with an Ilya Lyubushkin goal, helped along by Travis Boyd and Kessel. St. Louis finished it at 7-4 with an Ivan Barbashev goal, made possible by Thomas and Vladimir Tarasenko. The three stars were Kyrou, Faulk, and Kostin, while Thomas, Keller, Gostisbehere and Kessel get the honorable mentions.

NHL 2021-22 - Day 6

Just one game on for today, as the Ottawa Senators host the Dallas Stars. Anton Khudobin and Filip Gustavsson receive the starting nods in goal. Dallas led off in the first period with a Michael Raffl goal, via Alexander Radulov and Radek Faksa. Ottawa tied it with a Nick Paul goal, courtesy of Connor Brown and Artem Zub. The Senators took the lead in the second period with a Chris Tierney power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Shane Pinto and Brown. Ottawa added on with another Tierney power play goal, his second of the game and third of the year, with assists provided by Zach Sanford and Brown. The Stars got one back in the third period with a Joe Pavelski goal, fueled by Faksa and Andrej Sekera. This only made it 3-2, the final, with the three stars going to Tierney, Brown, and Faksa.
