The Philadelphia Flyers welcoming the Boston Bruins. Jeremy Swayman and Martin Jones are the goalies. Philadelphia led off in the first period with a Cam Atkinson goal, his second of the season, assisted by Derick Brassard and Justin Braun. Boston tied it on a Karson Kuhlman goal, via Trent Frederic and Tomas Nosek. The Flyers took the lead back with Joel Farabee power play goal, his third of the year, powered by Brassard and Ryan Ellis. Philadelphia added on in the second period with a Scott Laughton goal, coming off of James van Riemsdyk and Keith Yandle. The Bruins got one back with a Taylor Hall goal, courtesy of Charlie McAvoy. Boston tied it on a Brad Marchand goal, his third of the season, guided in by David Pastrnak and McAvoy. The Flyers restored the lead on an Atkinson goal, his second of the game and third of the year, fueled by Farabee in the third period. Philadelphia added on with a Travis Konecny goal, his third of the season, with helpers from Sean Couturier and Claude Giroux. The Flyers iced it at 6-3 with a Couturier empty net power play goal, set up by Yandle. The three stars were Atkinson, Farabee, and Couturier, while Brassard, Yandle, and McAvoy get the honorable mentions.
The other game sees the Vegas Golden Knights bring in the St. Louis Blues. Jordan Binnington and Robin Lehner tend the twines. Vegas began in the first period with a William Karlsson goal, assisted by Reilly Smith and Alec Martinez. St. Louis tied it on a Brandon Saad goal in the second period, courtesy of David Perron and Ryan O'Reilly. The Blues took the lead in the third period with a Vladimir Tarasenko goal, passed from Jordan Kyrou and Brayden Schenn. St. Louis iced it at 3-1 with an Ivan Barbashev empty net goal, his second of the season, set up by Robert Thomas and Colton Parayko. The three stars were Binnington (42 for 43 in saves), Tarasenko, and Lehner (35 for 37 in saves).
