Orlando Pride v. Washington Spirit - October 5, 2019
The only game during the last international break of the season has the Orlando Pride hosting the Washington Spirit in a make-up from late August. Aubrey Bledsoe faces a lesser foe in Lainey Burdett in goal. Bayley Feist of Washington took a yellow card for a 1st minute foul. Washington began with a 5th minute Ashley Hatch goal, via Crystal Thomas. The Spirit added on in the 62nd minute with a Thomas goal. Orlando's Claire Emslie took a yellow card in the 71st minute for a foul. Washington extended the lead in the 85th minute as Tiffany McCarty scored. The final stood at 3-0, with Thomas as the woman of the match.

Philadelphia added on with another Konecny goal, with a lone helper by Scott Laughton. The Blackhawks pulled back on an Alex DeBrincat power play goal, powered by Kane and Erik Gustafsson. NHL 2019-20 - Day 1
It's the beginning of a new hockey league. With that comes the news that I am now a contributor with Rotowire, a fantasy sports site. I have worked in baseball but I'm beginning my first full season with the hockey department. As such, I may have to prioritize my contributions with Rotowire versus what I post here. With that in mind, that is a concern for another day. Here's your scoring recaps from Opening Night.
First up, the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Ottawa Senators. Craig Anderson and Frederik Andersen are the similarly-named goalies. Ottawa began in the first period with a Brady Tkachuk goal, via Connor Brown and Colin White. Toronto tied it on a Frederik Gauthier goal in the second period, coming off of Tyson Barrie and Dmytro Timashov. The Maple Leafs took the lead on a Trevor Moore goal, passed from Ilya Mikheyev and Rasmus Sandin. The Senators retied it with a Scott Sabourin goal, assisted by Filip Chlapik and Jean-Gabriel Pageau. A full slate of games goes on Sunday, beginning with...
The Chicago Fire hosting Toronto FC. Quentin Westberg and Kenneth Kronholm man the nets. Toronto got going in the 59th minute with a Jozy Altidore goal, set up by Marco Delgado. Chicago tied it in the 68th minute with an Aleksander Katai goal, passed from Przemyslaw Frankowski. Delgado of the Reds took a yellow card for dissent in the 69th minute. Alex Bono had to replace Westberg in the 75th minute. The Fire took the lead with a Fabian Herbers goal in the 77th minute, courtesy of Nicolas Gaitan. Toronto retied it with an Omar Gonzalez goal in the 80th minute, made possible by Alejandro Pozuelo. Gaitan of Chicago received a yellow card for a foul in the 85th minute. The final was 2-2, with the man of the match being Gonzalez.

Toronto retied it with an Omar Gonzalez goal in the 80th minute, made possible by Alejandro Pozuelo. Gaitan of Chicago received a yellow card for a foul in the 85th minute. The final was 2-2, with the man of the match being Gonzalez.
Along to Ohio, where FC Cincinnati welcomes Orlando City SC. Brian Rowe and Przemyslaw Tyton are in goal. Cincinnati began in the 40th minute with an Allan Cruz goal, passed from Emmanuel Ledesma and Joseph-Claude Gyau. Jhegson Mendez of Orlando City saw a yellow card for persistent infringement in the 45th minute. The Orange and Blue's Cruz took a yellow card for a dive in first half stoppage time. The Lions picked up yellow cards for fouls by Robin Jansson and Kyle Smith in the 61st and 89th minutes, respectively. Orlando City tied it on a Benji Michel goal in second half stoppage time. This produced the 1-1 final score, with Rowe earning man of the match honors for going six for seven in saves.
Staying in the state, the Columbus Crew SC bring in the Philadelphia Union. Andre Blake and Eloy Room protect the nets. Jamiro Monteiro of Philadelphia had a yellow card for his 13th minute foul. Columbus saw a yellow card for a 55th minute Wil Trapp foul. The Crew dented the scoreboard in the 69th minute on a Youness Mokhtar goal, via Pedro Santos and Luis Diaz. Columbus added on with a 73rd minute Santos goal. Mokhtar of the Crew took a yellow card for time wasting in the 80th minute. Kacper Przybylko of the Union picked up a yellow card for a foul in stoppage time. The final remained at 2-0, with Santos named man of the match.
In Canada, the Montreal Impact host Atlanta United FC. Brad Guzan and Clement Diop are set to start in goal. Atlanta cracked the scoresheet in the 53rd minute with a Julian Gressel goal, via Emerson Hyndman. Montreal tied it on a Bojan goal, coming off of Orji Okwonkwo in the 81st minute. The final stood at 1-1, with Bojan picked as man of the match.
Back stateside, the New England Revolution welcome New York City FC. Sean Johnson and Matt Turner are the gloved men. Brandon Bye of New England took a yellow card for a 61st minute foul. The Revolution drew first blood in the 66th minute with a Teal Bunbury goal, passed from Cristian Penilla and Gustavo Bou. Alexander Callens of New York City had a yellow card for an 82nd minute foul. New England added on in the 89th minute with a Bou goal, set up by Wilfried Zahibo. This sealed their win at 2-0, with Bou as man of the match.
Wrapping up the east, the New York Red Bulls bring in DC United. Bill Hamid and Luis Robles tend the twines. Cristian Casseres, Jr. of New York took a yellow card for a 33rd minute foul. DC saw a yellow card for a Wayne Rooney foul in the 77th minute. The final remained as it started, 0-0, with Hamid's two-save clean sheet enough for the man of the match title.
Out west, the Colorado Rapids host FC Dallas. Jesse Gonzalez and Tim Howard are between the sticks. Colorado led off in the 10th minute with a Jack Price goal, set up by Andre Shinyashiki. Further to the west, the Los Angeles Galaxy welcome the Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Maxime Crepeau and Matt Lampson are in the six-yard boxes. Vancouver opened in the 20th minute with a Doneil Henry goal, via Hwang In-Beom. Los Angeles retied it with a 23rd minute Zlatan Ibrahimovic goal, passed from Cristian Pavon. Sebastian Lletget of the Galaxy took a yellow card for a 34th minute foul. The Whitecaps retook the lead on a Theo Bair goal in the 41st minute. Los Angeles evened it again in the 58th minute on an Uriel Antuna goal, set up by Jonathan dos Santos. Vancouver pulled ahead with a 64th minute Tosaint Ricketts goal, fueled by Erik Godoy and Hwang. The Galaxy retied it on an 86th minute Chris Pontius goal, courtesy of Ibrahimovic and Diego Polenta. The Whitecaps took the lead in stoppage time with a Michaell Chirinos goal, coming off of Hwang and Fredy Montero. This held for a 4-3 win, with Hwang selected as man of the match.
Back northeast, Minnesota United FC brings in Los Angeles FC. Pablo Sisniega and Vito Mannone guard the woodwork. Mason Toye of Minnesota had a yellow card for a 43rd minute foul. Los Angeles kicked off the scoring in the 70th minute with a Carlos Vela goal, courtesy of Diego Rossi. The Loons tied it on a Michael Boxall goal in the 75th minute, helped along by Jan Gregus. The final remained 1-1, with Boxall being the man of the match.
West again to Utah, as Real Salt Lake hosts the Houston Dynamo. Tyler Deric and Nick Rimando draw the starts in goal. Salt Lake started in the 1st minute with a Corey Baird goal. Jefferson Savarino of Real took a yellow card for a 29th minute foul. Houston tied it in the 32nd minute on a Tomas Martinez goal. Salt Lake regained the lead with a Savarino goal in the 75th minute, made possible by Sebastian Saucedo. Tommy McNamara of the Dynamo had a yellow card for 87th minute foul. The final stuck at 2-1, with Savarino earning the man of the match title.
Returning to California, the San Jose Earthquakes welcome the Seattle Sounders FC. Stefan Frei and Daniel Vega are the keepers. San Jose went down to ten men in the 56th minute when Tommy Thompson received a straight red card for violent conduct. Seattle would drop to ten men as well with yellow cards for fouls by Xavier Arreaga in the 60th and 71st minutes. Nouhou of the Sounders received a yellow card for time wasting in the 87th minute. Seattle struck late with a Jordan Morris goal in stoppage time, enough to take the win. Frei was awarded the man of the match honors for his ten-save clean sheet.
Finally, Sporting Kansas City brings in the Portland Timbers. Steve Clark and Tim Melia are the veterans in goal. Portland was first to score in the 29th minute with a Sebastian Blanco goal. Kansas City tied it on a 30th minute Krisztian Nemeth goal, via Johnny Russell and Roger Espinoza. In the 35th thru 38th minutes, Felipe Gutierrez of Sporting and the Timbers' Brian Fernandez received yellow cards for fouls, and Portland's Fernandez and Kansas City's Roger Espinoza each received straight red cards for violent conduct. Sporting took the lead in the 46th minute with a Daniel Salloi goal. The Timbers saw yellow cards for fouls by Renzo Zambrano in the 60th minute, Blanco in the 65th minute, and Zarek Valentin in the 72nd minute. Kansas City picked up yellow cards for Botond Barath's 75th minute foul and Melia's time wasting in the 81st minute. Sporting went down to nine men in the 84th minute when Ilie Sanchez denied a goal scoring opportunity. Portland tied it with a Dairon Asprilla penalty kick goal in the 85th minute, producing the 2-2 final score. Blanco was the man of the match.
