It's Saturday, so that means a ton of games. There's 14 on this time, beginning with...

The Buffalo Sabres welcoming the Florida Panthers. Spencer Knight and Eric Comrie are in goal. Buffalo led off in the first period with an Alex Tuch goal, assisted by Henri Jokiharju and the goalie Comrie. Florida tied it on a Colin White goal, via Eetu Luostarinen and Anton Lundell. The Panthers took the lead with a Matthew Tkachuk goial, his second of the season, made possible by Gustav Forsling. The Sabres tied it again with a Zemgus Girgensons goal, courtesy of JJ Peterka and Rasmus Dahlin. Florida regained the lead in the second period with an Aaron Ekblad goal, coming off of Aleksander Barkov and Sam Reinhart. The Panthers added on with a Brandon Montour power play goal, powered by Tkachuk and Barkov. Buffalo got one back with a Dahlin goal, his second of the year, with a lone assist by Tuch. This made it 4-3, the final, with the three stars being Tkachuk, Dahlin, and Tuch, while Barkov gets an honorable mention. 

Along to Philadelphia, as the Flyers bring in the Vancouver Canucks. Thatcher Demko and Carter Hart man the nets. Vancouver began in the first period with a Kyle Burroughs goal, fueled by Brock Boeser and Tanner Pearson. The Canucks added on with a Conor Garland goal, via Vasily Podkolzin and Luke Schenn. Philadelphia got on the board with a Tony DeAngelo power play goal in the second period, powered by James van Riemsdyk and Kevin Hayes. The Flyers tied it on a Scott Laughton shorthanded goal, set up by Travis Konecny. Philadelphia took the lead in the third period with a Konecny goal, his third of the season, coming off of Ivan Provorov and DeAngelo. This stood for a 3-2 win, with the three stars being Konecny, DeAngelo, and Laughton.

Over in Boston, the Bruins host the Arizona Coyotes. Karel Vejmelka and Jeremy Swayman receive the starting nods in goal. Boston started in the first period with a Pavel Zacha power play goal, via Nick Foligno and Craig Smith. The Bruins added on with a Charlie Coyle goal, passed from Trent Frederic and A.J. Greer. Arizona got on the board in the second period with a Clayton Keller power play goal, powered by Travis Boyd and Matias Maccelli. Boston replied with a Foligno goal, coming off of Connor Clifton. The Coyotes pulled one back in the third period with a Josh Brown goal, courtesy of Nick Bjugstad and Dylan Guenther. Arizona tied it on a Shayne Gostisbehere shorthanded goal, going in unassisted. The Bruins took the lead on a Derek Forbort goal, with helpers from David Krejci and Pavel Zacha. Boston added on with a Greer goal, made possible by Hampus Lindholm. The Bruins iced it at 6-3 with an empty net goal by Greer, his second of the game, set up by Coyle. The three stars were Greer, Coyle, and Foligno.

In Canada, the Toronto Maple Leafs welcome the Ottawa Senators. Anton Forsberg and Ilya Samsonov are the goalies. Ottawa kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Shane Pinto power play goal, powered by Claude Giroux and Jake Sanderson. Toronto tied it in the second period with a David Kampf goal, coming off of Jake Muzzin and Calle Jarnkrok. The Maple Leafs took the lead in the third period with a William Nylander power play goal, his second of the season, with assists provided by Auston Matthews and John Tavares. The Senators tied it on a Giroux goal, passed from Alex DeBrincat and Thomas Chabot. Toronto gained the lead with a Justin Holl goal, assisted by Michael Bunting and Mitchell Marner. This stood for a 3-2 win, with the three stars being Giroux, Holl, and Nylander.

Back stateside, the New Jersey Devils bring in the Detroit Red Wings. Alex Nedeljkovic and Vitek Vanecek are the masked men. New Jersey struck first in the first period with a Dougie Hamilton goal, coming off of Jesper Bratt and Jonas Siegenthaler. Detroit tied it on a Ben Chiarot goal in the second period, courtesy of Dylan Larkin and Tyler Bertuzzi. The Red Wings took the lead with a Jakub Vrana goal, passed from Lucas Raymond and Chairot. The Devils retied it on a Miles Wood goal, via Fabian Zetterlund and Hamilton. Detroit pulled ahead on a David Perron goal, with helpers from Vrana and Olli Maatta. The Red Wings added on with a Larkin goal, helped along by Andrew Copp and Filip Hronek. Detroit extended the lead in the third period as Dominik Kubalik scored, thanks to Raymond and Larkin. This made it 5-2, the final, with the three stars being Larkin, Chiarot, and Vrana, while Hamilton and Raymond get the honorable mentions.

West to Pittsburgh, as the Penguins host the Tampa Bay Lightning. Brian Elliott and Tristan Jarry are in the creases. Tampa Bay opened in the first period with a Steven Stamkos power play goal, his fourth of the season, powered by Victor Hedman and Nikita Kucherov. Pittsburgh tied it with a Sidney Crosby goal, his second of the year, via Jake Guentzel and Brian Dumoulin. The Penguins took the lead in the second period with a Danton Heinen power play goal, with assists from Jeff Carter and Jason Zucker. Pittsburgh added on in the third period with a Guentzel goal, his second of the season, passed from Kris Letang and Crosby. The Penguins extended the lead as Carter scored, thanks to Kasperi Kapanen and Pierre-Olivier Joseph. Pittsburgh padded the lead as Bryan Rust scored, with the help of Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. The Lightning got one back with a Brayden Point goal, made possible by Kucherov and Stamkos. The Penguins finished it at 6-2 with a Rickard Rakell empty net goal, going in unassisted. The three stars belonged to Crosby, Guentzel, and Carter, while Stamkos and Kucherov get the honorable mentions.

In DC, the Washington Capitals welcome the Montreal Canadiens. Sam Montembeault and Darcy Kuemper patrol the blue paint. Montreal got going in the second period with a Nick Suzuki goal, helped along by Arber Xhekaj and Cole Caufield. Washington tied it on a Conor Sheary goal, his second of the season, assisted by Nick Jensen and Trevor van Riemsdyk. The Capitals took the lead with an Anthony Mantha goal, his second of the year, via T.J. Oshie and Evgeny Kuznetsov. Washington added on with an Oshie power play goal, powered by Alex Ovechkin and Dylan Strome. The lead held at 3-1, with the three stars going to Oshie, Kuemper (21 for 22 in saves), and Mantha.

Along to New York, as the Islanders bring in the Anaheim Ducks. John Gibson and Ilya Sorokin guard the cages. New York drew first blood in the first period with a Scott Mayfield goal, assisted by Anders Lee and Anthony Beauvillier. The Islanders added on with a Noah Dobson goal, his second of the season, via Matt Martin. New York extended the lead in the second period as Oliver Wahlstrom scored, thanks to Jean-Gabriel Pageau. The Islanders padded the lead on Mayfield's second goal of the game, coming off of Mathew Barzal and Zach Parise. New York kept going with a Beauvillier goal, helped along by Ryan Pulock and Lee. Anthony Stolarz replaced Gibson in goal for the third period. Anaheim got on the board in the third period with a Troy Terry goal, his third of the year, going in unassisted. The Islanders replied with a Robin Salo goal, with helpers from Barzal and Lee. New York finished it at 7-1 with a Salo goal, his second of the game, fueled by Wahlstrom and Brock Nelson. Out west, the St. Louis Blues host the Columbus Blue Jackets. Elvis Merzlikins and Jordan Binnington are between the pipes. St. Louis dented the scoreboard in the first period with a Pavel Buchnevich goal, assisted by Torey Krug on the power play. The Blues added on in the second period with a Vladimir Tarasenko goal, courtesy of Justin Faulk and Robert Thomas. Columbus got on the board with a Gustav Nyquist goal, his second of the season, via Johnny Gaudreau and Erik Gudbranson. The Blue Jackets tied it with a Sean Kuraly goal, guided in by Mathieu Olivier and Eric Robinson. St. Louis gained the lead in the third period with an Ivan Barbashev goal, coming off of Brayden Schenn and Buchnevich. The Blues extended the lead as Jake Neighbours scored, thanks to Nick Leddy. St. Louis padded the lead on another Tarasenko goal, his second of the game, going in unassisted. The final was 5-2, and the three stars were Tarasenko, Buchnevich and Barbashev.

Down in Dallas, the Stars welcome the Nashville Predators. Juuse Saros and Jake Oettinger tend the twines. Dallas cracked the scoresheet in the first period with a Roope Hintz shorthanded goal, set up by Miro Heiskanen. The Stars added on in the second period with another Hintz goal, his second of the game, via Joe Pavelski and Jason Robertson. Dallas extended the lead as Heiskanen scored, thanks to Robertson. Nashville got on the board with a Nino Niederreiter power play goal, his fourth of the season, powered by Mikael Granlund and Ryan Johansen. The Stars answered in the third period with a Robertson goal, with helpers from Hintz and Pavelski. Dallas extended the lead with a Mason Marchment empty net goal, his third of the year, going in unassisted. The three stars were Hintz, Robertson, and Heiskanen, while Pavelski gets an honorable mention.

Way north to Minnesota, as the Wild bring in the Los Angeles Kings. Cal Petersen and Marc-Andre Fleury will start in goal. Los Angeles was first to score in the first period with an Adrian Kempe goal, his second of the season, assisted by Kevin Fiala and Mikey Anderson. The Kings added on with a Gabriel Vilardi goal, his second of the year, via Alex Iafallo and Quinton Byfield. Los Angeles extended the lead as Drew Doughty scored on the power play, thanks to Anze Kopitar and Fiala. Minnesota got on the board with a Jacob Middleton goal, coming off of Jared Spurgeon and Matt Boldy. The Wild got closer with a Marcus Foligno goal, helped along by Joel Eriksson Ek and Matt Dumba. The Kings fired back with an Iafallo goal, his second of the season, passed from Vilardi and Matt Roy. Filip Gustavsson replaced Fleury in goal for the second period. Minnesota got one back in the second period with an Eriksson Ek power play goal, powered by Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello. The Kings replied with a Fiala power play goal, with helpers from Kempe and Kopitar. The Wild answered on a Kaprizov power play, guided in by Zuccarello and and the goalie Gustavsson. The Kings responded on a Roy goal, with assists from Brendan Lemieux and Arthur Kaliyev. Minnesota pulled one back with a Zuccarello power play goal, his second of the season, dished from Calen Addison and Boldy. The Wild tied it on a Sam Steel goal, fueled by Ryan Hartman and Jonas Brodin. Los Angeles reclaimed the lead as Kempe scored his second of the game and third of the year, with the help of Kopitar. This made it 7-6, the final, with the three stars given to Kempe, Fiala, and Kopitar, while Vilardi, Iafallo, Roy, Zuccarello, Kaprizov, Eriksson Ek, and Boldy get the honorable mentions.

Northwest to Edmonton, as the Oilers host the Calgary Flames. Dan Vladar and Jack Campbell draw the starts in goal. Calgary led off in the first period with a Mikael Backlund goal, assisted by Michael Stone and Blake Coleman. Edmonton tied it on a Cody Ceci goal, via Kailer Yamamoto and Leon Draisaitl. The Flames retook the lead with a Stone goal, helped along by Kevin Rooney. Calgary added on with a Nazem Kadri goal, coming off of Stone on the power play. The Flames extended the lead as Andrew Mangiapane scored, thanks to Kadri and Dillon Dube. The Oilers got one back in the second period with a Connor McDavid power play goal, his fourth of the season, powered by Evander Kane and Draisaitl. Edmonton got closer with a Ryan McLeod goal, courtesy of Ryan Murray. This only made it 4-3, the final, with the three stars being Stone, Kadri, and Draisaitl.

In Seattle, the Kraken welcome the Vegas Golden Knights. Adin Hill and Martin Jones are the backups in goal. Vegas began in the first period with a Keegan Kolesar goal, guided in by William Carrier. The Golden Knights added on with a Jonathan Marchessault power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Nicolas Roy and Alex Pietrangelo. Vegas extended the lead in the second period as Reilly Smith scored on the power play, thanks to Mark Stone and Jack Eichel. The Golden Knights padded the lead on a Marchessault goal, his second of the game and third of the year, via Chandler Stephenson and Shea Theodore. Vegas continued with a Theodore goal, guided in by Phil Kessel and Eichel. Philipp Grubauer took over for Jones in goal for the third period. Seattle got on the board in the third period with a Justin Schultz goal, courtesy of Andre Burakovsky and Matty Beniers. The Kraken got closer with a power play goal by Jaden Schwartz, his second of the season, with assists provided by Burakovsky and Vince Dunn. The final remained at 5-2, with the three stars going to Marchessault, Theodore, and Eichel, while Burakovsky gets an honorable mention.

Finally, the San Jose Sharks bring in the Chicago Blackhawks. Petr Mrazek and Kaapo Kahkonen have the green light to start in goal. San Jose struck first in the first period with a Nico Sturm goal, fueled by Erik Karlsson and Mario Ferraro. The Sharks added on with a Karlsson goal, assisted by Logan Couture and Steven Lorentz. Chicago got on the board in the second period with a Jonathan Toews goal, his second of the season, guided in by Tyler Johnson and Taylor Raddysh. The Blackhawks tied it on a Sam Lafferty shorthanded goal, set up by Jason Dickinson and Jack Johnson. Chicago pulled ahead with another Lafferty shorthanded goal, his second of the game, via Dickinson and Seth Jones. The Blackhawks extended the lead as Raddysh scored, thanks to Tyler Johnson. Chicago padded the lead on a Dickinson goal, made possible by Philipp Kurashev and Lafferty. The final held at 5-2, with the three stars awarded to Lafferty, Dickinson, and Tyler Johnson, while Raddysh and Karlsson get the honorable mentions.

A light four-game Friday is up, beginning with...

The Detroit Red Wings hosting the Montreal Canadiens. Jake Allen and Ville Husso are the goalies. Detroit dented the scoreboard in the third period with an Elmer Soderblom goal, assisted by Michael Rasmussen and Oskar Sundqvist. The Red Wings added on with a Rasmussen empty net goal, set up by Andrew Copp and Dylan Larkin. Detroit finished it at 3-0 with an Olli Maatta empty net goal, courtesy of Rasmussen and Sundqvist. The three stars were Husso (29 save shutout), Rasmussen, and Sundqvist.

Along to Columbus, as the Blue Jackets welcome the Tampa Bay Lightning. Andrei Vasilevskiy and Daniil Tarasov start in goal. Columbus led off in the first period with a Johnny Gaudreau goal, assisted by Justin Danforth and Boone Jenner. Tampa Bay tied it on a Corey Perry power play goal, powered by Vladislav Namestnikov and Mikhail Sergachev. The Lightning took the lead with a Steven Stamkos goal, his second of the season, via Alex Killorn and Haydn Fleury. The Blue Jackets tied it again on a Gustav Nyquist goal, courtesy of Kent Johnson and Erik Gudbranson. Tampa Bay retook the lead with a Ross Colton goal, fueled by Perry and Victor Hedman. The Lightning added on with a Cal Foote goal in the second period, made possible by Colton and Namestnikov. Tampa Bay extended the lead in the third period as Stamkos scored his second of the game and third of the year, with helpers from Sergachev and Killorn. This stood for a 5-2 win, with the three stars being Stamkos, Perry, and Colton, while Sergachev, Killorn, and Namestnikov get the honorable mentions. 

Northwest to Winnipeg, where the Jets bring in the New York Rangers. Jaroslav Halak and Connor Hellebuyck man the nets. Winnipeg began in the first period with a Mark Scheifele goal, assisted by Nikolaj Ehlers and Josh Morrissey. New York tied it in the third period with a Dryden Hunt goal, fueled by Vincent Trocheck and Artemi Panarin. The Jets took the lead with a Sam Gagner goal, coming off of Saku Maenalanen and David Gustafsson. Winnipeg added on with a Scheifele power play goal, his second of the game, powered by Pierre-Luc Dubois and Ehlers. The Jets iced it at 4-1 with a Kyle Connor empty net goal, set up by Blake Wheeler. The three stars were Scheifele, Hellebuyck (40 for 41 in saves), and Ehlers. 

Finally, the San Jose Sharks host the Carolina Hurricanes. Antti Raanta and James Reimer are in the creases. San Jose kicked off the scoring in the first period with an Evgeny Svechnikov goal, assisted by Jaycob Megna and Erik Karlsson. Carolina tied it in the second period with a Martin Necas goal, his second of the season, fueled by Andrei Svechnikov. The Hurricanes took the lead in the third period with a Sebastian Aho goal, guided in by Brett Pesce and Teuvo Teravainen. This stood for a 2-1 win, with the three stars going to Aho, Raanta (18 for 19 in saves), and Necas.

We've got 10 games on for the first big day of the season. First up...

The Sabres took the lead with a Rasmus Dahlin goal, courtesy of Peyton Krebs and Kyle Okposo. Buffalo added on in the third period with a Victor Olofsson empty net goal, going in unassisted. The Sabres iced it at 4-1 with another Olofsson empty net goal, his second of the game, set up by Ilya Lyubushkin. The three stars were Olofsson, Dahlin, and Peterka.

Down in Philadelphia, the Flyers welcome the New Jersey Devils. Mackenzie Blackwood and Carter Hart man the nets. Over in Minnesota, the Wild bring in the New York Rangers. Igor Shesterkin and Marc-Andre Fleury guard the cages. Minnesota got on the board in the second period with a Mats Zuccarello power play goal, with assists provided by Kirill Kaprizov and Marcus Foligno. Calgary tied it on a Brett Ritchie goal, via Milan Lucic and MacKenzie Weegar. The Flames took the lead with a Dillon Dube shorthanded goal, set up by Andrew Mangiapane. Calgary added on with a Rasmus Andersson goal, coming off of Weegar. The Flames extended the lead in the third period as Tyler Toffoli scored on the power play, powered by Nazem Kadri and Andersson. Calgary padded the lead on an Elias Lindholm power play goal, with an assist provided by Jonathan Huberdeau. The Avalanche got one back with a MacKinnon goal, fueled by the goalie Francouz. Back south, the Vegas Golden Knights bring in the Chicago Blackhawks. Alex Stalock is mismatched with Logan Thompson in goal. Vegas dented the scoreboard in the second period with a Paul Cotter goal, via Zach Whitecloud. This held up for a 1-0 win, with the three stars awarded to Thompson (27 save shutout), Cotter, and Stalock (36 for 37 in saves).

Finally, the Los Angeles Kings host the Seattle Kraken. Martin Jones and Jonathan Quick are the veteran goalies. Seattle drew first blood in the first period with a Jaden Schwartz power play goal, powered by Jordan Eberle and Andre Burakovsky. Los Angeles tied it on an Alex Iafallo power play goal, going in unassisted. The Kraken regained the lead in the second period with a Brandon Tanev goal, via Will Borgen. Seattle added on with an Alexander Wennberg goal, helped along by Matty Beniers and Oliver Bjorkstrand. The Kraken finished it at 4-1 with an Adam Larsson shorthanded empty net goal, an unassisted tally. The three stars were Jones (26 for 27 in saves), Tanev, and Wennberg.

NHL 2022-23 - Day 4

The season kicks it up a notch on Wednesday with six games. First up...

The Carolina Hurricanes host the Columbus Blue Jackets. Daniil Tarasov and Frederik Andersen are the goalies. Columbus got going in the second period with a Patrik Laine goal, assisted by Zach Werenski. Carolina tied it on a Seth Jarvis goal, going in unassisted. The Hurricanes took the lead with a Brady Skjei goal, coming off of Martin Necas and Jesperi Kotkaniemi. Carolina added on with a Necas goal in the third period, helped along by Derek Stepan and Jordan Martinook. The Hurricanes extended the lead as Andrei Svechnikov scored, thanks to Necas and Paul Stastny. The final stood at 4-1, with the three stars going to Necas, Andersen (31 for 32 in saves), and Skjei.

In Montreal, the Canadiens welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs. Matt Murray and Jake Allen protect the nets. Toronto led off in the first period with a Michael Bunting goal, coming off of Mitchell Marner and T.J. Brodie. Montreal tied it in the second period with a Cole Caufield goal, via Nick Suzuki and David Savard. The Maple Leafs retook the lead with a Denis Malgin goal, assisted by John Tavares and William Nylander. The Canadiens tied it on another Caufield goal, going in unassisted. Montreal pulled ahead in the third period with a Sean Monahan goal, helped along by Jordan Harris and Kirby Dach. Toronto tied it on a Nylander goal, courtesy of Tavares and Morgan Rielly. The Canadiens reclaimed the lead with a Josh Anderson goal, fueled by Suzuki. This stood for a 4-3 win, with the three stars going to Caufield, Suzuki, and Nylander, while Tavares gets an honorable mention.

Stateside again to DC, as the Washington Capitals bring in the Boston Bruins. Linus Ullmark and Darcy Kuemper are the masked men. Boston began in the first period with a Patrice Bergeron power play goal, powered by David Pastrnak and David Krejci. The Bruins added on with a Pastrnak goal, via Krejci and Connor Clifton. Boston extended the lead in the second period as Taylor Hall scored, with the help of Pastrnak and Mike Reilly. Washington got on the board with an Anthony Mantha goal, courtesy of Dylan Strome and Erik Gustafsson. The Capitals got closer with a Conor Sheary goal, fueled by Nic Dowd. The Bruins replied in the third period with a Krejci goal, made possible by Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha. Boston iced it at 5-2 with a Hampus Lindholm empty net goal, going in unassisted. The three stars were Pastrnak, Krejci, and Hall. 

Out in Colorado, the Avalanche host the Chicago Blackhawks. Petr Mrazek and Alexandar Georgiev are between the pipes. Colorado struck first in the first period with an Andrew Cogliano goal, assisted by Nathan MacKinnon and Devon Toews. Chicago tied it with a Jonathan Toews power play goal, powered by Philipp Kurashev and Andreas Athanasiou. The Avalanche retook the lead with a Valeri Nichushkin power play goal, with assists provided by Mikko Rantanen and Artturi Lehkonen. Colorado added on with a Lehkonen goal, coming off of Rantanen and MacKinnon on the power play. The Avalanche extended the lead as Lehkonen scored another power play goal, thanks to Rantanen and Cale Makar. The Blackhawks pulled one back with a Max Domi power play goal in the third period, guided in by Tyler Johnson and Patrick Kane. Colorado fired back with a power play goal by Nichushkin, his second of the game, helped along by Makar and Rantanen. The final stood at 5-2, with the three stars awarded to Rantanen, Lehkonen, and Nichushkin, while MacKinnon and Makar get the honorable mentions.

Up in Edmonton, the Oilers welcome the Vancouver Canucks. Thatcher Demko and Jack Campbell guard the cages. Vancouver started in the first period with an Elias Pettersson unassisted goal. The Canucks added on with a J.T. Miller goal, via Brock Boeser and Quinn Hughes. Vancouver extended the lead in the second period as Andrei Kuzmenko scored on the power play, with the help of Miller and Bo Horvat. Edmonton got on the board with a Leon Draisaitl power play goal, courtesy of Connor McDavid and Tyson Barrie. The Oilers got closer with a McDavid power play goal, with helpers from Draisaitl and Zach Hyman. Edmonton tied it with a Darnell Nurse shorthanded goal, set up by Draisaitl. The Oilers gained the lead in the third period with another McDavid goal, his second of the game, guided in by Hyman. Edmonton iced it at 5-3 with a McDavid power play empty net goal to complete his hat trick, fueled by Evander Kane and Nurse. The three stars went to McDavid, Draisaitl, and Nurse, while Miller and Hyman were the honorable mentions.

Finally, the Anaheim Ducks bring in the Seattle Kraken. Philipp Grubauer and John Gibson are in the creases. Anaheim opened in the first period with a Troy Terry goal, assisted by Mason McTavish and Ryan Strome. Seattle tied it on a Jared McCann power play goal, powered by Matty Beniers and Justin Schultz. The Kraken took the lead in the second period with an Andre Burakovsky power play goal, with assists provided by Vince Dunn. Seattle added on with an Oliver Bjorkstrand power play goal, helped along by Schultz and Ryan Donato. The Ducks got one back with a Strome power play goal, coming off of McTavish and Trevor Zegras. The Kraken answered in the third period with a Beniers goal, via Jaden Schwartz and Carson Soucy. Anaheim pulled one back on a Frank Vatrano goal, made possible by Strome and John Klingberg. The Ducks tied it with a Zegras power play goal, with helpers from Terry and Klingberg. Anaheim won 5-4 in overtime on a Terry goal, his second of the game, set up by Gibson. The three stars were Terry, Strome, and Zegras, while Beniers, McTavish, Klingberg, and Schultz get the honorable mentions.

NHL 2022-23 - Day 3

The first day of NHL action in North America is here, with a pair of games on. First up...

The New York Rangers welcome the Tampa Bay Lightning. Andrei Vasilevskiy and Igor Shesterkin tend the twines. New York got going in the second period on a Mika Zibanejad shorthanded goal, set up by Jacob Trouba and K'Andre Miller. Tampa Bay tied it on a Steven Stamkos power play goal, powered by Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point. The Rangers retook the lead in the third period on another Zibanejad goal in the third period, a power play goal, via Artemi Panarin and Chris Kreider. New York added on with a Barclay Goodrow goal, assisted by Ryan Lindgren and Ryan Carpenter. The final stood at 3-1, with the three stars going to Zibanejad, Shesterkin (25 for 26 in saves), and Goodrow.

Out west, the Los Angeles Kings bring in the Vegas Golden Knights. Logan Thompson and Jonathan Quick make the starts in goal. Los Angeles struck first in the first period with a Gabriel Vilardi goal, courtesy of Quinton Byfield and Alex Iafallo. Vegas tied it in the second period on a Jonathan Marchessault goal, fueled by William Karlsson. The Golden Knights took the lead in the third period with a Jack Eichel goal, guided in by Chandler Stephenson and Reilly Smith. The Kings tied it on an Adrian Kempe goal, assisted by Anze Kopitar and Sean Durzi. Vegas retook the lead with a Karlsson goal, helped along by Alex Pietrangelo and Nicolas Roy. Los Angeles retied it on an Arthur Kaliyev goal, made possible by Trevor Moore and Vilardi. The Golden Knights reclaimed the lead with a Mark Stone goal, via Stephenson and Pietrangelo. The final held at 4-3, with the three stars given to Karlsson, Stephenson, and Pietrangelo, while Vilardi gets the honorable mention.
