Winnipeg got going in the third period as Alexei Ponikarovsky scored his second of the season, with a lone assist by Kyle Wellwood. This stood for a 1-0 victory, where Montoya (33 save shutout), Bishop (36 for 37 in saves), and Mark Stuart got the three stars, while Ponikarovsky should have the third star.
West to San Jose, with the Sharks hosting the Phoenix Coyotes. Mike Smith and Antti Niemi are given the starting nods. The game was scoreless into the shootout, until Mikkel Boedker and Radim Vrbata both found the twine behind Niemi for a 1-0 Phoenix win. Into Canada again, with the Montreal Canadiens hosting the Toronto Maple Leafs. James Reimer and Carey Price stand 200 feet apart.
