Avangard Omsk hosting Metallurg Novokuznetsk. Mikhail Biryukov and Dominik Furch are the veteran goalies. Omsk started in the first period with a Nikita Nikitin goal, assisted by Nikolai Lemtyugov and Danil Faizullin. Avangard added on with an Alexander Perezhogin goal, via Derek Roy. Novokuznetsk got on the board in the second period with a power play goal by Nikita Yazkov, powered by Kirill Semyonov and Denis Vikharev. Omsk replied with a Valentin Pyanov goal, with a lone assist by Perezhogin. Avangard extended the lead as Roy scored, thanks to Perezhogin and Nikitin. Metallurg got one back with a Kirill Lebedev goal, helped along by Fyodor Polishchuk and Mikhail Anisin. Metallurg Magnitogorsk hosting Medvescak Zagreb. Niko Hovinen and Ilya Samsonov are the backups in goal. Magnitogorsk quickly opened the first period with a Wojtek Wolski goal, assisted by Jan Kovar. Zagreb tied it on a Brandon McMillan goal, going in unassisted. Metallurg took the lead back in the second period with a Kovar power play goal, powered by Chris Lee and Sergei Mozyakin. Magnitogorsk added on with an Alexei Bereglazov goal, passed from Vladislav Kaletnik and Denis Kazionov. Metallurg extended the lead with an unassisted Kazionov goal. Magnitogorsk padded the lead with a power play goal by Tomas Filippi, courtesy of Alexander Semin and Oskar Osala. Major League Soccer 2016 - Week 28

The slate is full once again this weekend. We begin on Friday with...

The Chicago Fire hosting DC United. Bill Hamid and Sean Johnson are in goal. DC started in the nineteenth minute with a Rob Vincent goal, set up by Luciano Acosta. Chicago tied it on a twenty-second minute Razvan Cocis goal, passed from Arturo Alvarez. The First took the lead in the twenty-ninth minute on a David Accam goal, coming off of Cocis. United tied it in stoppage time with a Bobby Boswell goal. This produced the 2-2 final, with the man of the match being Cocis.

On Saturday, the games begin with the Seattle Sounders FC welcoming the Vancouver Whitecaps FC. David Ousted and Stefan Frei tend the nets. Vancouver's Cristian Techera took a yellow card for a thirty-ninth minute foul. Seattle got going in the eighty-first minute on a Jordan Morris goal, helped along by Nicolas Lodeiro and Erik Friberg. The Sounders had yellow cards for Tyrone Mears' foul and Nelson Valdez's delay of game in stoppage time. The Whitecaps saw David Edgar take a yellow card for a foul two minutes later. The game ended 1-0, with Morris the man of the match for his winner.

Down south a bit, the Portland Timbers bring in the Philadelphia Union. Andre Blake and Jake Gleeson are in the six-yard boxes. Philadelphia had yellow cards for Joshua Yaro in the twenty-fifth minute and Alejandro Bedoya in the thirty-fifth minute, both for fouls. Portland dented the scoreboard with a forty-sixth minute Diego Valeri goal, via Darren Mattocks. The Union tied it in the forty-seventh minute on a Chris Pontius goal, set up by Fabian Herbers. The Timbers took the lead back in the fifty-third minute on a Fanendo Adi goal, courtesy of Mattocks. Brian Carroll of Philadelphia had a seventy-eighth minute yellow card for a foul. In the eighty-fifth minute, the Union went down to ten men as Yaro received a second yellow card for a foul. The game ended at 2-1, with the man of the match being Mattocks for setting up both Timbers goals.

Out in the east, New York City FC hosts FC Dallas. Chris Seitz and Josh Saunders man the nets. New York City led off in the eighth minute with a Thomas McNamara goal, via Jack Harrison and Ronald Matarrita. RJ Allen of New York City had a yellow card for a fourteenth minute foul. Dallas tied it in the twentieth minute with a Maximiliano Urruti goal, assisted by Mauro Rosales. Dallas had yellow cards given to Ryan Hollingshead in the twenty-eighth minute and Maynor Figueroa in the thirty-first minute, both for fouls. Dallas took the lead in the fifty-second minute on a Michael Barrios goal, coming off of Rosales and Urruti. In the seventy-third minute, Kellyn Acosta of Dallas took a yellow card for a foul. New York City retied it in the seventy-eighth minute on a goal by Khiry Shelton, courtesy of Harrison. Dallas' Carlos Gruezo had a yellow card for his eighty-eighth minute foul. Up in Canada, the Montreal Impact welcome the New England Revolution. Brad Knighton and Evan Bush play goal. New England opened in the first minute with a Kei Kamara goal, set up by Kelyn Rowe and Juan Agudelo. The Revolution added on in the twenty-seventh minute with a Rowe goal, courtesy of Kamara and Diego Fagundez. New England saw a yellow card in the thirty-ninth minute for dissent from Jose Goncalves. In the forty-first minute, Harry Shipp of Montreal took a yellow card for a handball. The Impact got on the board with a fiftieth minute Didier Drogba penalty kick goal. Victor Cabrera of Montreal received a yellow card for a fifty-fourth minute foul. In the fifty-ninth minute, Rowe scored again for the Revolution. New England's Agudelo took a yellow card in the seventy-second minute for his foul. The game ended at 3-1, with Rowe the man of the match for his brace and assist.

South to Florida, where Orlando City SC brings in the Columbus Crew SC. Steve Clark and Joe Bendik are the veteran keepers. Columbus began in the sixth minute on an Ethan Finlay goal, set up by Ola Kamara and Justin Meram. The Crew added on with Orlando City's Seb Hines committing an own goal in the twenty-second minute. Columbus extended the lead as Kamara scored in the forty-fourth minute, with the help of Finlay and Nicolai Naess. Orlando City received yellow cards for Carlos Rivas in the forty-ninth minute for a foul, Matias Perez Garcia in the fifty-seventh minute for dissent, and Mikey Ambrose for a sixtieth minute foul. Gaston Sauro of the Crew had a yellow card for a sixty-second minute foul. Orlando City got on the board in the seventy-ninth minute with a Cyle Larin goal, made possible by Servando Carrasco. Columbus iced it at 4-1 with a Kamara goal in stoppage time, helped along by Finlay. Kamara was the man of the match for his brace and assist.

Northwest to Colorado, with the Rapids hosting the San Jose Earthquakes. David Bingham and Tim Howard are the gloved men. Colorado's Sam Cronin took a yellow card for a thirty-fifth minute foul, as did teammates Dillon Powers and Axel Sjoberg in the thirty-eighth minute. The game ended at 0-0, with Howard the man of the match for his three-save clean sheet.

Saturday ends with Real Salt Lake welcoming the Houston Dynamo. Joe Willis and Nick Rimando are set to start in goal. Houston saw Alex take a yellow card for a thirty-third minute foul. The Dynamo struck first as Alex redeemed himself with a thirty-sixth minute goal, set up by Ricardo Clark. Houston's Sheanon Williams received a yellow card for time wasting in the fifty-fourth minute, and teammate Cristian Maidana had a yellow card of his own for time wasting in the sixty-ninth minute. Salt Lake saw a yellow card given to Tony Beltran for a foul in the seventy-sixth minute. The Dynamo saw yellow cards for Willis' time wasting in the eighty-first minute, a Clark foul in the eighty-fifth minute, and time wasting by Eric Alexander in stoppage time. The game ended 1-0, with the man of the match being Alex.

The first of Sunday's two games sees Sporting Kansas City bring in the Los Angeles Galaxy. Brian Rowe and Tim Melia are the keepers. Los Angeles drew first blood in the seventh minute on an Alan Gordon goal, fueled by Emmanuel Boateng and Sebastian Lletget. In the forty-fourth minute, Jeff Larentowicz of the Galaxy had a yellow card for a foul. Kansas City tied it on a fiftieth minute Jacob Peterson goal, guided in by Dominic Dwyer. Sporting took the lead in the sixty-ninth minute on a Dwyer goal, helped along by Saad Abdul-Salaam and Benny Feilhaber. Los Angeles regained the lead with a seventy-sixth minute goal from Landon Donovan, coming off of Robbie Rogers. The game ended 2-2, with the man of the match being Dwyer for his goal and assist.

Finally, Toronto FC hosts the New York Red Bulls. Luis Robles faces a lesser foe in Alex Bono in goal. New York was first to score in the twelfth minute as Toronto's Steven Beitashour committed an own goal. The Red Bulls added on with a thirty-first minute goal by Bradley Wright-Phillips, set up by Daniel Royer. Toronto got on the board with a Michael Bradley goal in the forty-first minute, via Justin Morrow and Jonathan Osorio. New York replied with another Wright-Phillips goal in the forty-eighth minute, coming off of Sacha Kljestan and Alex Muyl. Toronto replied with a sixty-eighth minute goal by Jozy Altidore. Chris Duvall of the Red Bulls had an eighty-first minute yellow card for dissent. Toronto tied it in the eighty-sixth minute with another Altidore goal, courtesy of Bradley. Felipe of the Red Bulls had a stoppage time yellow card for a foul. The game ended at 3-3, with Altidore the man of the match for his brace to scrape a point.

Five games for today's schedule, beginning with...

Amur Khabarovsk hosting Ak Bars Kazan. Emil Garipov and Juha Metsola are the masked men. Kazan led off in the first period with a Justin Azevedo power play goal, powered by Mikhail Varnakov and Vasily Tokranov. Khabarovsk tied it on a Kristian Kuusela power play goal in the second period, via Teemu Ramstedt and Maxim Kondratyev. Amur took the lead on a Vladislav Ushenin goal, guided in by Artyom Zub and Vyacheslav Ushenin. Ak Bars retied it with a Damir Musin goal, assisted by Vladimir Tkachyov and Artyom Lukoyanov. Khabarovsk retook the lead in the third period on a Vladislav Ushenin goal, helped along by Dmitry Kosmachyov and Alexei Byvaltsev. This stood for a 3-2 win, with the three stars given to Vladislav Ushenin, Kuusela, and Musin.

Down in China, Kunlun Red Star Beijing welcomes Lada Togliatti to Shanghai. Ilya Ezhov and Andrei Makarov are the goalies. Togliatti opened with a Viktor Komarov power play goal, powered by Georgy Belousov. Beijing tied it on a Damien Fleury goal in the second period, helped along by Janne Jalasvaara and Oleg Yashin. Kunlun Red Star took the lead on a Chad Rau goal, via Max Warn. Lada retied it in the third period with an Anton Shenfeld goal, coming off of Vladimir Malenkikh and Dmitry Sinitsyn. Beijing took the lead back on a Sean Collins goal, made possible by Tuukka Mantyla. Kunlun Red Star added on with an Alexei Ponikarovsky goal, fueled by Mantyla and Vadim Pereskokov. The three stars of the 4-2 game were Mantyla, Ponikarovsky, and Rau.

Along to Kazakhstan, where Barys Astana hosts Severstal Cherepovets. Jakub Kovar and Henrik Karlsson protect the nets. Astana started in the first period with an Evgeny Rymarev goal, assisted by Cam Barker and Roman Starchenko. Barys added on with a Brandon Bochenski power play goal in the second period, powered by Nigel Dawes and Martin St. Pierre. Cherepovets got on the board in the third period with a Clay Wilson goal, made possible by Dmitry Kagarlitsky and Pavel Chernov. This only made it 2-1, the final, with the three stars being Karlsson (25 for 26 in saves), Bochenski, and Rymarev.

Into Russia, where Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk brings in CSKA Moscow. Ilya Sorokin and Alexander Sharychenkov are in the blue paint. Moscow began in the first period with a Dmitry Kugryshev goal, via Jan Mursak and Stephane Da Costa. CSKA added on with a Kirill Petrov goal, guided in by Bud Holloway and Igor Ozhiganov. This made it 2-0, the eventual final, with the three stars awarded to Sorokin (13 save shutout), Kugryshev, and Petrov.

Finally, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl hosts Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. Ilya Proskuryakov and Alexei Murygin guard the cages. Nizhny Novgorod got going in the second period on a Maxim Osipov goal, via Kiriil Rasskazov and Kirill Vorobyov. Torpedo added on with a Kaspars Daugavins goal, coming off of Stanislav Yegorshev and Evgeny Grachyov. Nizhny Novgorod iced it at 3-0 with an empty net goal by Fredrik Pettersson, set up by Rasskazov and Alexei Potapov. The three stars went to Proskuryakov (27 save shutout), Osipov, and Rasskazov.
