Metallurg Magnitogorsk hosting Medvescak Zagreb. Niko Hovinen and Ilya Samsonov are the backups in goal. Magnitogorsk quickly opened the first period with a Wojtek Wolski goal, assisted by Jan Kovar. Zagreb tied it on a Brandon McMillan goal, going in unassisted. Metallurg took the lead back in the second period with a Kovar power play goal, powered by Chris Lee and Sergei Mozyakin. Magnitogorsk added on with an Alexei Bereglazov goal, passed from Vladislav Kaletnik and Denis Kazionov. Metallurg extended the lead with an unassisted Kazionov goal. Magnitogorsk padded the lead with a power play goal by Tomas Filippi, courtesy of Alexander Semin and Oskar Osala. Metallurg iced it at 6-1 with a third period power play goal from Sergei Tereshchenko, coming off of Artyom Zhelezkov and Evgeny Timkin. The three stars were Kovar, Kazionov, and Samsonov (38 for 39 in saves).
Westward to Podolsk, where Vityaz welcomes Sibir Novosibirsk. Alexander Salak and Harri Sateri guard the cages. Podolsk started in the first period with a Nikita Vyglazov goal, assisted by Alexander Nikulin. Novosibirsk tied it on an Oleg Gubin goal, made possible by Ilya Nekolenko and Artyom Artyomov. Sibir took the lead with a Maxim Shalunov power play goal in the second period, powered by Sergei Shumakov and Adam Polasek. Vityaz retied it on a Jakub Jerabek goal, via Alexei Kopeikin on the power play. Podolsk won it 3-2 in overtime with a Kopeikin power play goal, guided in by Jerabek and Mario Kempe. The three stars were awarded to Kopeikin, Jerabek, and Sateri (31 for 33 in saves).
Along to St. Petersburg, where SKA hosts Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk. Vladislav Fokin and Igor Shestyorkin man the nets. St. Petersburg led off in the first period with an Ilya Kovalchuk goal, fueled by Sergei Plotnikov and Vyacheslav Voynov. SKA added on with an Alexander Barabanov power play goal, powered by Anton Belov and Nikita Gusev. St. Petersburg extended the lead as Barabanov scored again, with the help of Jarno Koskiranta and Gusev. Alexander Sharychenkov replaced Fokin in goal. SKA didn't seem to notice, with a Plotnikov power play goal made possible by Voynov and Kovalchuk. Khanty-Mansiysk got on the board with a Konstantin Panov goal, coming off of Igor Bortnikov. St. Petersburg replied in the second period on a Kovalchuk goal, his second of the game, via Voynov and Plotnikov, the former earning a sock trick. SKA padded the lead with a Sergei Shirokov goal, guided in by Dinar Khafizullin and Alexander Khokhlachyov. St. Petersburg kept going with another Shirokov goal, with helpers from Khokhlachyov and Belov. Ugra got one back with an Alexander Ugolnikov goal, passed from Yakov Seleznyov and Evgeny Lapenkov. Khanty-Mansiysk chipped closer with a Oleg Pogorishny power play goal, with assists provided by Denis Gorbunov and Lapenkov. SKA answered on a Nikita Tochitsky goal, with a lone helper from Khafizullin. Ugra countered on a Nikita Khlystov goal, helped along by Panov and Bortnikov. St. Petersburg finished it at 9-4 with a Gusev goal, dished from Barabanov. The three stars were Shirokov, Barabanov, and Kovalchuk, while the honorable mentions are a long list as follows: Plotnikov, Voynov, Belov, Gusev, Panov, Bortnikov, Khafizullin, Khokhlachyov, and Lapenkov.
Into Finland, where Jokerit Helsinki brings in CSKA Moscow. Ilya Sorokin and Ryan Zapolski are the goalies. Moscow began in the first period with an Alexander Popov goal, via Nikita Pivtsakin and Kirill Petrov. Helsinki tied it on a Peter Regin power play goal, powered by Tommi Huhtala and Topi Jaakola. CSKA retook the lead with an Igor Ozhiganov power play goal in the second period, assisted by Popov and Petrov. Jokerit retied it on a Mika Niemi goal, with assists provided by Charles Genoway and Regin on the power play. Jokerit won 3-2 in the shootout with a lone tally by Sakari Salminen. The three stars belonged to Popov, Petrov, and Regin.
Finally, the Sochi Leopards host Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Alexander Sudnitsin and Konstantin Barulin protect the nets. Sochi struck first in the first period with a Vadim Shchegolkov goal, courtesy of Rinat Ibragimov and Pavel Padakin. The Leopards added on with an Andre Petersson goal, coming off of Andrei Kostitsyn on the power play. Yaroslavl got on the board in the second period with an Alexander Polunin goal, assisted by Ilya Lyubushkin. Lokomotiv tied it on a Daniil Apalkov goal, via Yegor Averin and Petri Kontiola. Yaroslavl took the lead with a Pavel Kraskovsky goal in the third period, helped along by Polunin and Yegor Korshkov. This stood for a 3-2 win, with the three stars handed to Polunin, Kraskovsky, and Apalkov.
