KHL 2016/17 - Day 31

Five games on for today, beginning with...

Amur Khabarovsk hosting Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. Ivan Lisutin and Juha Metsola are in the creases. Khabarovsk began in the first period with a Tomas Zohorna goal, via Teemu Ramstedt. Amur added on with a Vladislav Ushenin goal in the second period, made possible by Vitaly Atyushov. Khabarovsk extended the lead with a Kristian Kuusela power play goal, powered by Ramstedt and Zohorna. Amur padded the lead as Kirill Kapustin scored in the third period, thanks to Vyacheslav Litovchenko and Maxim Kondratyev. Nizhnekamsk got on the board with an unassisted goal by Andrei Stas. The game ended at 4-1, with the three stars being Zohorna, Ramstedt, and Metsola (27 for 28 in saves).

Down in Vladivostok, Admiral welcomes Lada Togliatti. Ilya Ezhov and Igor Bobkov draw the starts in goal. Vladivostok led off in the first period with a Robert Sabolic goal, assisted by Artyom Zemchyonok and Anton Volchenkov. Admiral added on with a Jason Akeson goal, fueled by Maxim Kazakov and Zemchyonok. Vladivostok extended the lead with a Sabolic power play goal, powered by Jonathon Blum and Vladimir Tkachyov. Admiral padded the lead on an unassisted Andrei Sigaryov goal. Vladivostok kept going with a Dmitry Lugin goal, coming off of Dmitry Sayustov and Vadim Krasnoslobodtsev. Togliatti got on the board with a second period goal from Andrei Ivanov, via Alexander Bolshakov and Nikita Filatov. Lada got closer with a Georgy Belousov power play goal, with a lone assist by Viktor Komarov. The game ended at 5-2, with the three stars being Sabolic, Zemchyonok, and Akeson.

Into China, where Kunlun Red Star Beijing hosts Ak Bars Kazan in Shanghai. Stanislav Galimov and Andrei Makarov are between the pipes. Beijing opened in the first period on a Tomas Marcinko goal, via Tobias Viklund. Kazan tied it on a Jiri Sekac power play goal, powered by Vasily Tokranov. Ak Bars took the lead with a Fyodor Malykhin goal, helped along by Mikhail Varnakov and Mikhail Sidorov. Kunlun Red Star retied it in the second period with a power play goal by Anssi Salmela, courtesy of Viklund. Kazan retook the lead in the third period on an Andrei Chibisov goal, passed from Vladimir Tkachyov and Artyom Lukoyanov. This stood for a 3-2 win, with the three stars going to Chibisov, Viklund, and Malykhin.

Back in Russia, Salavat Yulaev Ufa brings in Slovan Bratislava. Justin Pogge and Niklas Svedberg are the goalies. Ufa started in the first period with an Andreas Engqvist power play goal, powered by Linus Omark and Teemu Hartikainen. Bratislava tied it on a Marek Daloga goal, courtesy of Jeff Taffe and Jonathan Cheechoo on the power play. Salavat Yulaev retook the lead on an Igor Makarov goal in the second period, made possible by Evgeny Bodrov and Enver Lisin. Ufa added on with an Omark goal, passed from Engqvist and Denis Kulyash. Slovan got one back on another Daloga goal, via Matej Pokorny. Salavat Yulaev shot back with an Alexander Loginov power play goal, guided in by Omark and Lisin. Ufa extended the lead in the third period as Artyom Chernov scored, with the help of Anton Lazarev. Bratislava pulled back with a Tomas Zigo goal, coming off of Mislav Rosandic. Salavat Yulaev iced it at 6-3 with an Omark empty net goal, set up by Igor Grigorenko. The three stars were awarded to Omark, Engqvist, and Daloga, while Lisin gets an honorable mention.

Finally, Dynamo Moscow hosts Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. Ilya Proskuryakov and Alexander Lazushin tend the twines. Nizhny Novgorod struck first in the first period with a Dmitry Semin goal, coming off of Evgeny Mozer and Kaspars Daugavins. This was it for the scoring, with the final holding at 1-0. The three stars were Semin, Proskuryakov (20 save shutout), and Lazushin (20 for 21 in saves).
