Traktor Chelyabinsk hosting Medvescak Zagreb. Danny Taylor and Vasily Demchenko are in the blue paint. Chelyabinsk got going in the second period with a Dmitry Pestunov goal, assisted by Maxim Yakutsenya. Traktor added on with a Paul Szczechura empty net goal, set up by Artyom Penkovsky. Chelyabinsk iced it at 3-0 as Alexander Pankov scored an unassisted goal. The three stars were Demchenko (31 save shutout), Pestunov, and Pankov.
Along to Yekaterinburg, where Avtomobilist welcomes Severstal Cherepovets. Jakub Kovar faces his former teammate and understudy Igor Ustinsky in goal. Yekaterinburg opened in the first period with a Niclas Andersen goal, guided in by Evgeny Chesalin and Rok Ticar. Cherepovets tied it on a Daniil Vovchenko goal, passed from Yury Trubachyov and Maxim Trunyov. Avtomobilist took the lead back with a Jan Buchtele power play goal, powered by Alexei Vasilevsky. Severstal tied it again in the second period with an Alexander Yevseyenkov goal, coming off of Nikolai Stasenko and Vitaly Sitnikov on the power play. Cherepovets took the lead with a Trunyov goal, with a lone assist provided by Vovchenko. Severstal added on with a Sergei Monakhov goal, helped along by Clay Wilson. The game ended at 4-2, with the three stars given to Trunyov, Vovchenko, and Kovar (39 for 41 in saves).
Up to Khanty-Mansiysk, where Ugra brings in SKA St. Petersburg. Igor Shestyorkin and Alexander Sharychenkov man the nets. Khanty-Mansiysk led off in the first period with a Konstantin Panov goal, fueled by Igor Bortnikov and Denis Khlystov. St. Petersburg tied it in the second period with a Sergei Shirokov goal, assisted by Sergei Plotnikov and Ilya Kovalchuk. Ugra took the lead with an Anton Kuryanov goal, made possible by Alexander Ugolnikov and Bortnikov on the power play. SKA tied it again with an Alexander Khokhlachyov, courtesy of Shirokov and Anton Belov. St. Petersburg took the lead with a Khokhlachyov goal, his second of the game, via Yegor Yakovlev. SKA added on with a Dinar Khafizullin goal, with helpers from Evgeny Ketov and Nikita Tochitsky. This produced the 4-2 final, with the three stars given to Khokhlachyov, Shirokov, and Bortnikov.
Out in Belarus, Dinamo Minsk hosts Sibir Novosibirsk. Alexander Salak and Ben Scrivens guard the cages. Novosibirsk started in the first period with a Sergei Shumakov goal, with a lone assist by Adam Polasek. Sibir added on with a Maxim Shalunov goal, via Oleg Gubin and Shumakov. Novosibirsk extended the lead as Shalunov scored his second of the game, with the help of Polasek and Shumakov on the power play. Minsk got on the board with a shorthanded and unassisted Nikita Komarov goal. Dinamo pulled closer in the second period with a Matt Ellison goal, made possible by Sergei Kostitsyn. Minsk tied it on an Alexander Kulakov goal, via Alexander Materukhin and Evgeny Lisovets. Sibir retook the lead with a Polasek power play goal, powered by Shalunov. Dinamo tied it on an Evgeny Kovyrshin power play goal, with assists provided by Ellison and Nick Bailen. Alexei Krasikov took over for Salak in goal. In overtime, Minsk won on an Ellison goal, his second of the game, guided in by Kostitsyn and Marc-Andre Gragnani. The three stars went to Ellison, Shulakov, and Shumakov, while Polasek and Kostitsyn get the honorable mentions.
Up in Finland, Jokerit Helsinki welcomes Metallurg Novokuznetsk. Andrei Kareyev and Ryan Zapolski are set to start in goal. Helsinki began in the first period with a Topi Jaakola power play goal, powered by Sakari Salminen. Jokerit added on with a Joey Hishon goal, via Ville Lajunen on the power play. Helsinki extended the lead as Michael Keranen scored a power play goal, thanks to Lajunen. Jokerit padded the lead with a Tommi Huhtala goal, courtesy of Peter Regin. Mikhail Biryukov replaced Kareyev in goal. Helsinki continued in the second period with a Salminen power play goal, helped along by Regin and Jaakola. Novokuznetsk got on the board in the third period with a Viktor Postnikov goal, assisted by Ignat Zemchenko and Alexander Komaristy. This made it 5-1, the final, with the three stars being Salminen, Jaakola, and Lajunen, while Regin gets an honorable mention.
Finally, Dinamo Riga brings in Avangard Omsk. Dominik Furch and Janis Kalnins are the goalies. Riga dented the scoreboard in the second period with a Colton Gillies goal, assisted by Miks Indrasis and Guntis Galvins. Omsk tied it on a Maxim Pestushko goal, via Danil Faizullin and Alexander Kucheryavenko. Avangard took the lead with an Andrei Kuteikin goal, coming off of Ilya Zubov. This stood for a 2-1 win, with the three stars going to Furch (40 for 41 in saves), Kuteikin, and Pestushko.
