KHL 2016/17 - Day 33

Only three games as the schedule starts to oscillate more in the coming days. We begin with...

Avangard Omsk hosting Metallurg Novokuznetsk. Mikhail Biryukov and Dominik Furch are the veteran goalies. Omsk started in the first period with a Nikita Nikitin goal, assisted by Nikolai Lemtyugov and Danil Faizullin. Avangard added on with an Alexander Perezhogin goal, via Derek Roy. Novokuznetsk got on the board in the second period with a power play goal by Nikita Yazkov, powered by Kirill Semyonov and Denis Vikharev. Omsk replied with a Valentin Pyanov goal, with a lone assist by Perezhogin. Avangard extended the lead as Roy scored, thanks to Perezhogin and Nikitin. Metallurg got one back with a Kirill Lebedev goal, helped along by Fyodor Polishchuk and Mikhail Anisin. This produced the eventual final score of 4-2, with the three stars going to Roy, Perezhogin, and Nikitin.

Next up, Traktor Chelyabinsk welcomes Slovan Bratislava. Barry Brust and Vasily Demchenko are in the blue paint. Bratislava opened in the first period with a Patrik Lusnak goal, coming off of Kyle Chipchura. Slovan added on with a Chipchura goal in the second period, with a lone helper by Jonathan Cheechoo. Bratislava extended the lead as Juraj Siska scored, with the help of Lusnak. Chelyabinsk got on the board with an Igor Mirnov goal, courtesy of Nikolai Belov. This only made it 3-1, the eventual final, with the three stars given to Chipchura, Lusnak, and Brust (34 for 35 in saves).

Finally, Dynamo Moscow brings in Dinamo Minsk. Ben Scrivens and Alexander Lazushin are the masked men. Minsk struck first in the first period with a Nick Bailen power play goal, powered by Rob Klinkhammer and Evgeny Kovyrshin. Dinamo added on in the third period with an unassisted Andrei Stepanov goal. Minsk extended the lead as Alexander Materukhin scored, thanks to Alexander Kulakov and Klinkhammer. This made it 3-0, with the three stars going to Scrivens (34 save shutout), Klinkhammer, and Bailen.
