Nine games on tonight, beginning in...

New York, as the Rangers host their crosstown rivals, the New York Islanders. Jaroslav Halak and Henrik Lundqvist guard the cages. The Rangers were first to score on a Rick Nash goal, his fifth of the season, going in unassisted. The Islanders tied it on a Johnny Boychuk power play goal, his second of the year, powered by Kyle Okposo and Frans Nielsen. The Rangers retook the lead in the second period on a Derick Brassard goal, his second of the season, fueled by Chris Kreider and Lee Stempniak. The Islanders tied it on a John Tavares goal, his second of the year, helped along by Nikolay Kulemin. The Islanders took the lead in the third period with an unassisted goal by Okposo. The Islanders added on as Brock Nelson scored his fourth of the season, thanks to Ryan Strome and Mikhail Grabovski. The Islanders extended the lead with a Grabovski goal, his second of the year with a lone helper by Strome. The Islanders kept going with a Nick Leddy goal, passed from Tavares. The Rangers got one back with Nash's second of the night and sixth of the campaign, fueled by Anthony Duclair and Martin St. Louis. This only made it 6-3, the final, with the three stars going to Tavares, Nash, and Okposo, while Strome and Grabovski get the honorable mentions.

Over in Philadelphia, the Flyers welcome the Anaheim Ducks. Frederik Andersen and Steve Mason are the goalies. Anaheim began in the first period on a Tim Jackman goal, assisted by Francois Beauchemin and Nate Thompson. The Ducks added on with a Devante Smith-Pelly goal, made possible by Hampus Lindholm and Cam Fowler. Philadelphia got on the board in the second period with a Mark Streit power play goal, powered by Claude Giroux and Wayne Simmonds. The Flyers tied it on a Simmonds power play goal, his fifth of the season, guided in by Brayden Schenn and Giroux. Anaheim retook the lead on a Matt Beleskey goal, his third of the season, coming off of Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. Philadelphia pulled even in the third period on a Jakub Voracek goal, with a lone assist by Michael Del Zotto. The tie lasted to a shootout, where Jakob Silfverberg was cancelled out by Giroux before William Karlsson scored for a 4-3 Ducks win. The three stars went to Simmonds, Giroux, and Beleskey.

Along to DC, where the Washington Capitals bring in the San Jose Sharks. Antti Niemi and Braden Holtby man the creases. San Jose struck first in the first period on a Matt Irwin goal, with a lone assist by Joe Thornton. The Sharks added on as Irwin scored his second of the game, a power play goal, powered by Tommy Wingels and Matthew Nieto. San Jose extended the lead with a John Scott goal, courtesy of Adam Burish and Brent Burns. Holtby was pulled for Justin Peters at this time. Washington got on the board with a Marcus Johansson power play goal, coming off of Alexander Ovechkin and John Carlson. The Sharks shot back with a Joe Pavelski goal, made possible by Thornton and Justin Braun. The Capitals answered with a Mike Green goal, his second of the season, via Liam O'Brien and Evgeny Kuznetsov. Washington pulled closer on an Ovechkin goal, his third of the year, guided in by Nicklas Backstrom and Eric Fehr. San Jose countered in the third period on a Wingels goal, his third of the season, pushed through by Chris Tierney and Tye McGinn. The Capitals replied with Ovechkin's second of the night and fourth of the year, driven in by Backstrom and Carlson. Washington tied it with a troy Brouwer goal, with helpers provided by Green and Andre Burakovsky. The tie lasted to a shootout, where Pavelski's lone tally secured a 6-5 Sharks win. The three stars went to Wingels, Ovechkin, and Pavelski, while the honorable mentions include Irwin, Thornton, Carlson, Green, and Backstrom.

West to Columbus, where the Blue Jackets host the Dallas Stars. Kari Lehtonen and Sergei Bobrovsky tend the twines. Dallas led off in the first period with a Tyler Seguin goal, assisted by Jamie Benn and Colton Sceviour. The Stars added on with an unassisted Benn goal. Columbus got on the board in the second period with a Ryan Johansen goal, via Cam Atkinson and Jack Johnson. The Blue Jackets tied it with a Johansen power play goal, powered by Nick Foligno and Johnson. Dallas retook the lead on a Seguin goal, his second of the game, coming off of Benn and Alex Goligoski. The Stars iced it at 4-2 with Seguin's third of the night for a hat trick, an empty net goal set up by Cody Eakin and Benn. The three stars belonged to Seguin, Benn, and Johansen, while Johnson gets an honorable mention.

Back to the Atlantic coast, where the Carolina Hurricanes welcome the Buffalo Sabres. Jhonas Enroth and Cam Ward are the mediocre goalies. Buffalo started in the first period on a Marcus Foligno goal, courtesy of Chris Stewart and Tyson Strachan. Carolina tied it in the second period as Riley Nash scored, with a lone assist by Jay Harrison. The Sabres retook the lead with a Torrey Mitchell goal, made possible by Brian Gionta. Buffalo added on in the third period with Foligno's second of the game, assisted by Cody Hodgson. The Hurricanes got one back as Chris Terry scored his second of the season, fueled by Zach Boychuk and Nash. Carolina tied it with a Boychuk goal, helped along by Terry and Jay McClement. The tie lasted to a shootout, where Terry cancelled out Matt Moulson, but the Sabres got a tally from Zemgus Girgensons for a 4-3 win. The three stars belonged to Terry, Foligno, and Boychuk, while Nash gets an honorable mention.

Further south, the Tampa Bay Lightning bring in the New Jersey Devils. Cory Schneider faces a lesser foe in Evgeni Nabokov in goal. New Jersey got going in the second period with a Travis Zajac goal, fueled by Andy Greene and Michael Cammalleri. Tampa Bay tied it in the third period on an Alex Killorn goal, assisted by Tyler Johnson and Anton Stralman. The Devils took the lead back on a Cammalleri power play goal, his fourth of the season, powered by Patrik Elias and Martin Havlat. This held up for a 2-1 win, with the three stars given to Cammalleri, Schneider (26 for 27 in saves), and Zajac.

North again to Toronto, where the Maple Leafs host the Colorado Avalanche. Semyon Varlamov and James Reimer draw the starts. Toronto opened in the first period with a James van Riemsdyk goal, his second of the season, assisted by Phil Kessel and Tyler Bozak. Colorado tied it with a Ryan O'Reilly goal, passed from Jarome Iginla and Erik Johnson. The Avalanche took the lead in the second period on a Matt Duchene goal, via Iginla and Jame McGinn. The Maple Leafs tied it with the second of the year from Joffrey Lupul, going in unassisted. Toronto won 3-2 in overtime with a Kessel goal, his second of the campaign, with assists provided by Bozak and Dion Phaneuf. The three stars were handed to Kessel, Bozak, and Iginla.

Down in Nashville, the Predators welcome the Calgary Flames. Karri Ramo and Pekka Rinne are the Finnish goalies. Nashville dented the scoreboard in the first period on a Filip Forsberg goal, courtesy of Derek Roy and Craig Smith. Calgary tied it on a T.J. Brodie goal, his second of the season, made possible by Mark Giordano and Brandon Bollig. The Flames took the lead in the second period as Giordano scored a power play goal, powered by Jiri Hudler and Brodie. The Predators tied it again with a Mike Ribeiro goal, assisted by Colin Wilson and Smith. The tie lasted to a shootout, where Joe Colborne scored the only tally for a 3-2 Calgary win. The three stars were given to Brodie, Giordano, and Smith.

Finally, out in Los Angeles, the Kings bring in the Edmonton Oilers. Viktor Fasth is mismatched with Jonathan Quick in goal. Los Angeles began in the first period with a Jeff Carter goal, his third of the season, assisted by Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson. The Kings added on as Justin Williams scored, thanks to Anze Kopitar and Matt Greene. Los Angeles extended the lead with a shorthanded Toffoli goal, his second of the year, set up by Slava Voynov. Ben Scrivens came on in relief of Fasth to play against his former team. The Kings padded the lead in the second period with a Dustin Brown goal, made possible by Dwight King. Los Angeles kept going with a Pearson goal, his third of the season, coming off of Carter. The Kings continued in the third period as Pearson scored his second of the game and fourth of the year, a power play goal powered by Alec Martinez and Mike Richards. Edmonton avoided the shutout with a Matt Hendricks goal, courtesy of Boyd Gordon. The final was 6-1, and the three stars were awarded to Pearson, Carter, and Toffoli (the "That 70s Line" trio).

Sibir added on in the third period with an unassisted Patrik Hersley. Omsk got on the board with a Vladimir Sobotka goal, via Denis Parshin. Novosibirsk answered with another Bobrov goal, going in unassisted. The final was 3-1, with the three stars going to Bobrov, Bespalov (27 for 28 in saves), and Hersley.

Up in Ufa, Salavat Yulaev welcomes Metallurg Novokuznetsk. Rafael Khakimov and Vitaly Koval received the starting nods. Ufa led off in the first period with an unassisted goal by Dmitry Makarov. Salavat Yulaev added on with an Ilkka Heikkinen power play goal, powered by Makarov and Teemu Hartikainen. Ufa extended the lead on an Ivan Vishnevsky power play goal in the third period, coming off of Kirill Koltsov and Alexei Kaigorodov. This made it 3-0, the final, with the three stars going to Makarov, Koval (29 save shutout), and Heikkinen.

Into Kazakhstan, where Barys Astana hosts Amur Khabarovsk. Sergei Borisov faces a lesser foe in Alexei Ivanov in goal. Astana started in the first period with a Dustin Boyd goal, assisted by Brandon Bochenski and Kevin Dallman. Barys added on as Nigel Dawes scored, thanks to Boyd and Bochenski on the power play. Astana extended the lead in the second period on another Dawes goal, via Dallman and Konstantin Pushkaryov. Barys padded the lead on an unassisted Roman Starchenko goal. Sergei Bolshakov replaced Borisov at this time. Astana kept going in the third period on a Dmitry Upper goal, with a lone assist by Konstantin Rudenko. This was all they needed for a 5-0 win. Cherepovets got on the board with a Pavel Chernov goal, courtesy of Dmitry Kagarlitsky and Evgeny Mons. CSKA added on with another Radulov goal, assisted by Stephane Da Costa and Jan Mursak on the power play. Sochi got on the board in the second period with an Igor Ignatushkin goal, with a lone assist by Ilya Krikunov. Moscow shot back with a third period power play goal by Nikita Zaitsev, powered by Grigorenko and Da Costa. CSKA extended the lead with an Igor Volkov goal, guided in by Sergei Andronov and Georgy Misharin. Moscow padded the lead on a Mursak penalty shot goal, coming after he was slashed by Andrei Plekhanov on a scoring chance. Vityaz tied it on a Mathias Porseland goal, guided in by Horak and Denis Grebeshkov. Podolsk took the lead with a Maxim Afinogenov power play goal, powered by Dmitry Tsyganov and Alexander Kucheryavenko. This gave them a 3-2 win, with the three stars being Horak, Afinogenov, and Porseland.

Out to Minsk, where Dinamo hosts Atlant Mytishchi. Atte Engren and Lars Haugen are between the pipes. Mytishchi dented the scoreboard in the first period on a Konstantin Koltsov goal, courtesy of Igor Radulov. Minsk tied it on an Evgeny Nogachyov goal, via Dmitry Meleshko. Finally, in Croatia, Medvescak Zagreb brings in Slovan Bratislava. Jaroslav Janus and Barry Brust guard the cages. Zagreb got going in the first period with a Brandon Segal goal, coming off of Martin St. Pierre. They made this hold up for the rest of the game, taking a 1-0 win. The three stars were awarded to Brust (36 save shutout), Segal, and Janus (19 for 20 in saves).

Four games on this Columbus Day/Thanksgiving (depends on your country), beginning in...

Boston, as the Bruins host the Colorado Avalanche. Backups Reto Berra and Niklas Svedberg are called on for the starts. Colorado got going in the second period with a Jamie McGinn goal, assisted by Tyson Barrie and Matt Duchene. Boston tied it on a power play goal by Loui Eriksson, powered by Carl Soderberg and Reilly Smith. The Avalanche won it in the last second of regulation with a Daniel Briere goal, made possible by Jan Hejda and Nathan MacKinnon. The three stars of the 2-1 game were Briere, Berra (27 for 28 in saves), and McGinn.

Over in Buffalo, the Sabres welcome the Anaheim Ducks. Frederik Andersen and Michal Neuvirth are in the blue paint. Anaheim led off in the first period with a Corey Perry power play goal, his fourth of the season, powered by Patrick Maroon and Sami Vatanen. The regularly-timed games come from the same state. The first is in Tampa Bay, where the Lightning bring in the Montreal Canadiens. Carey Price and Ben Bishop protect the nets. Tampa Bay began in the first period with a Victor Hedman goal, his third of the season, guided in by Nikita Kucherov and Vladislav Namestnikov. The Lightning added on as Steven Stamkos scored, thanks to Ryan Callahan and Hedman on the power play. Montreal got on the board with a Brendan Gallagher goal, via Jarred Tinordi and Mike Weaver. Tampa Bay shot back on a second period Stamkos goal, his second of the night, courtesy of Hedman. The Lightning extended the lead with a power play goal by Stamkos to complete his hat trick, powered by Hedman, who got a sock trick, and Valtteri Filppula. Dustin Tokarski relieved Price for the third period. Tampa Bay padded the lead in the third period on a Callahan goal, his second of the year, made possible by Matthew Carle. The Lightning struck again with an Ondrej Palat goal, passed from Brian Boyle and Anton Stralman. Tampa Bay finished it at 7-1 with a Namestnikov goal, with a lone assist by Kucherov. The three stars belonged to Stamkos, Hedman, and Namestnikov, while Kucherov and Callahan get the honorable mentions.

The final game comes from Sunrise, Florida, where the Panthers host the Ottawa Senators. Craig Anderson and Roberto Luongo occupy the creases. Ottawa dented the scoreboard in the second period with a Clarke MacArthur power play goal, powered by Kyle Turris and Erik Karlsson. This was the game's only goal, so the Senators won 1-0. Anderson (30 save shutout), MacArthur, and Luongo (22 for 23 in saves) received the three stars.

Yekaterinburg, as Avtomobilist hosts Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk. Stepan Goryachevskikh and Jakub Kovar are the young goalies. Yekaterinburg got going in the second period on a Filipp Metlyuk goal, with a lone assist by Anatoly Golyshev. This was good for a 1-0 win, with the three stars being Kovar (32 save shutout), Metlyuk, and Goryachevskikh (21 for 22 in saves).

Down in Magnitogorsk, Metallurg welcomes Traktor Chelyabinsk. Vasilys Demchenko and Koshechkin are the masked men tonight. Magnitogorsk was first to score in the first period on a Viktor Antipin power play goal, via Danis Zaripov. Metallurg added on as Zaripov goal, with a lone assist by Sergei Mozyakin. Magnitogorsk extended the lead in the second period on a Mozyakin power play goal, powered by Chris Lee and Zaripov. Metallurg padded the lead on a Maxim Yakutsenya goal, assisted by Vladislav Kaletnik and Rafael Batyrshin. Magnitogorsk kept going with a Lee goal, guided in by Mozyakin and Zaripov, the latter getting a sock trick. Vladislav Fokin took over for Demchenko in the third period. Ak Bars added on with a Konstantin Korneyev goal, via Igor Mirnov and Justin Azevedo. Kazan extended the lead in the second period with a Sergei Kostitsyn goal, assisted by Azevedo. Vladivostok got on the board with a power play goal by Vladislav Ushenin, powered by Enver Lisin and Denis Kuzmin. Admiral pulled closer on a Jan Kolar goal, coming off of Ilya Zubov and Alexander Gorshkov. The Maple Leafs retook the lead on a second period Kessel power play goal, fueled by Dion Phaneuf and Franson. Toronto added on with a Nazem Kadri goal, his second of the year, coming off of James van Riemsdyk and Daniel Winnik. The Maple Leafs extended the lead with a shorthanded van Riemsdyk goal, set up by Leo Komarov. The Rangers got one back on Lee Stempniak's second of the season, going in unassisted. Toronto answered on a Bozak goal, his third of the year, assisted by Kessel and Stephane Robidas. The Maple Leafs padded the lead on a David Clarkson goal, with helpers provided by Stuart Percy and Komarov. Lundqvist was pulled for Cam Talbot at this time. Reimer also left the game after a hit to the head, being replaced by Jonathan Bernier. New York shot back in the third period as Derick Brassard scored, thanks to Chris Kreider and Stempniak. Los Angeles extended the lead in the second period on a Tanner Pearson unassisted goal. The Kings padded the lead with a Carter goal, his second of the year, via Toffoli and Pearson. Winnipeg got on the board with a Bryan Little goal, his third of the season, assisted by Michael Frolik. This was it for the scoring, with the final being 4-1. MLS Weekend October 10-12, 2014

Nine games to go with for the next three days, beginning on Friday in...

Kansas City, as Sporting hosts the Chicago Fire. Sean Johnson and Andy Gruenebaum are the goalies. Chicago's Matt Watson picked up a yellow card for his fourth minute foul. The Fire had another yellow card for a foul by Bakary Soumare in the sixtieth minute. Kansas City took a yellow card for a Matt Besler foul in the seventy-first minute. Sporting opened the scoring in the eightieth minute as Graham Zusi scored, thanks to Kevin Ellis. In the eighty-eighth minute, Quincy Amarikwa of Chicago was shown a yellow card for his foul. Kansas City added on in stoppage time with a Dominic Dwyer goal, via Zusi. This made it 2-0, the final, with the man of the match being Zusi for his goal and assist.

The other Friday game comes from Seattle, as the Sounders FC welcome the Vancouver Whitecaps FC. David Ousted and Stefan Frei are the reliable goalies. Seattle's Leonardo Gonzalez received a yellow card for a foul in the forty-first minute. Vancouver struck first in the forty-fifth minute with a Kekuta Manneh goal, courtesy of Pedro Morales. The Sounders got another yellow card for dissent by Clint Dempsey in the sixty-fourth minute. The Whitecaps were booked for a foul by Kendall Watson in the seventy-fifth minute. Vancouver took another yellow card for a Matias Laba foul in the eighty-fifth minute. They held on to win 1-0, and the man of the match was Manneh for his goal late in the first half.

For Saturday, the first game is in Montreal, as the Impact bring in the New England Revolution. Bobby Shuttleworth and Evan Bush are in the six-yard boxes. Montreal began in the twelfth minute with a Marco Di Vaio goal, with an assist from Calum Mallace. New England tied it in the sixteenth minute with a Kelyn Rowe goal, made possible by Charlie Davies. The Impact pulled ahead again with a Di Vaio goal, assisted by Andres Romero in the thirty-ninth minute. The Revolution took a yellow card in the forty-seventh minute for a Jermaine Jones foul. New England pulled level in the sixty-ninth minute as Lee Nguyen scored, thanks to Scott Caldwell. The final stayed level at 2-2. The man of the match was Di Vaio for his brace.

Down in Philadelphia, the Union host the Columbus Crew. Steve Clark and Zach MacMath protect the nets. Philadelphia opened in the sixty-eighth minute on a Danny Cruz goal, helped along by Amobi Okugo and Fabinho. In the seventieth minute, Cruz was shown a yellow card for his foul. The Union added on in the seventy-fifth minute with an unassisted goal by Andrew Wenger. Columbus got on the board in the seventy-eighth minute as Ethan Finlay scored, thanks to Hector Jimenez. The Crew tied it on a Justin Meram goal in the seventy-ninth minute, made possible by Jairo Arrieta. Columbus took the lead with an Arrieta goal in the eighty-second minute, guided in by Tony Tchani and Bernardo Anor. The Crew saw a booking for a Chad Barson foul in stoppage time that brought out a yellow card. They held on for a 3-2 win, and Arrieta's late goal and assist earned him man of the match honors.

Over in New York, the Red Bulls welcome Toronto FC. Joe Bendik and Luis Robles guard the woodwork. New York had the first yellow card in the fifteenth minute for a Richard Eckersley foul. The Red Bulls led off in the twenty-sixth minute on a Bradley Wright-Phillips goal, via Kosuke Kimura and Thierry Henry. Toronto saw a yellow card in the thirty-third minute for a foul by Warren Creavalle. New York added on in the thirty-fifth minute with an unassisted goal by Ruben Bover Izquierdo. The Red Bulls extended their lead in the forty-fourth minute as Dax McCarty scored, thanks to Wright-Phillips and Lloyd Sam. Toronto got on the board in the fifty-fifth minute with a Jonathan Osorio goal, passed from Justin Morrow and Michael Bradley. New York had a yellow card go to Eric Alexander in the seventy-eighth minute for his foul. Toronto went down to ten men in the eighty-sixth minute, as Nick Hagglund was sent off on a straight red card for his foul. Toronto took another booking on a yellow card for dissent from Bradley in the eighty-ninth minute. The Red Bulls took a yellow card in stoppage time for an argument from Jamison Olave. The final was 3-1, and the man of the match was Wright-Phillips with a goal and an assist.

Out west, Real Salt Lake brings in the San Jose Earthquakes. Jon Busch and Jeff Attinella draw the starts in goal. Salt Lake began in the twenty-fourth minute with an unassisted Ned Grabavoy goal. Real added on in the twenty-eighth minute as Sebastian Velasquez scored, with an assist from Luke Mulholland. San Jose took a yellow card for a foul by Yannick Djalo in the thirty-second minute. The Earthquakes took another yellow card for a foul by Ty Harden in the seventy-fourth minute. Salt Lake's Grabavoy was booked on a yellow card for his eighty-first minute foul. The final was 2-0, and the man of the match was Grabavoy.

Closing out the day, Chivas USA hosts the Colorado Rapids. Clint Irwin and Dan Kennedy are the veteran goalies. The teams exchanged yellow cards in the first half with Colorado's Jose Mari getting one in the twenty-third minute, followed by one for Chivas' Eriq Zavaleta a minute later, both for fouls. Colorado struck first in the thirtieth minute on a goal by John Neeskens, set up by Charles Eloundou. Chivas had a pair of yellow cards later in the half for a foul by Oswaldo Minda in the forty-second minute and persistent infringement in the forty-fourth minute by Akira Kaji. Chivas tied the score in the sixty-fifth minute with a Kristopher Tyrpak goal, coming off of Matthew Dunn. In the eighty-fifth minute, Chivas took the lead with a Felix Borja goal, courtesy of Kaji. Chivas had another yellow card go to Tony Lochhead in stoppage time for his foul. The final stood at 2-1, with the man of the match being Borja for his late winner.

Sunday's first game has the Houston Dynamo welcome DC United. Bill Hamid and Tyler Deric man the nets. DC started in the forty-first minute with a Taylor Kemp goal. United added on in the sixty-fourth minute with a Fabian Espindola goal, set up by Sean Franklin. Hamid took a yellow card for DC for time wasting in the seventieth minute. Houston got on the board with an eighty-third minute Giles Barnes penalty kick conversion. United shot back in the eighty-seventh minute as Eddie Johnson scored, thanks to David Estrada and Franklin. This made it 3-1, the final, with the man of the match honors going to Espindola.

The final game of the weekend has FC Dallas bring in the Los Angeles Galaxy. Jaime Penedo faces a lesser foe in Chris Seitz in goal. Los Angeles had a yellow card for an A.J. DeLaGarza foul in the seventeenth minute. The Galaxy scored first with a twenty-second minute goal by Stefan Ishizaki. Los Angeles took another yellow card in the forty-fourth minute for a foul by James Riley. Dallas tied it in the fifty-second minute on a David Texeira, set up by Andres Escobar. Dallas took the lead in the eighty-seventh minute on a Fabian Castillo goal. Dallas went down to ten men in the eighty-ninth minute as Moises Hernandez was given a red card for his foul. They held on for a 2-1 win, with the man of the match being Castillo.

Omsk, with Avangard hosting Amur Khabarovsk. Sergei Borisov and Konstantin Barulin are in the blue paint. Omsk led off in the first period with a power play goal by Alexander Popov, powered by Denis Kulyash and Denis Parshin. Avangard added on with a Vladimir Sobotka power play goal, fueled by Erik Gustafsson and Parshin. Khabarovsk got on the board as Michel Miklik scored, thanks to Dmitry Lugin and Mikhail Fisenko. Omsk shot back with a Sergei Kalinin goal, guided in by Alexander Perezhogin and Evgeny Moser. Avangard extended the lead in the third period on a Parshin goal, with assists provided by Sobotka and Popov. This made it 4-1, the final, with the three stars being Parshin, Sobotka, and Popov.

Over to Ufa, where Salavat Yulaev welcomes Sibir Novosibirsk. Mikko Koskinen and Leland Irving draw the starts in goal. Ufa got going in the second period with an Alexei Kaigorodov power play goal, powered by Kirill Koltsov and Evgeny Skachkov. Salavat Yulaev added on with an Ivan Vishnevsky power play goal, coming off of Koltsov. Novosibirsk got on the board in the third period with a Dmitry Kugryshev goal, guided in by Andreas Thuresson. Sibir tied it on a Maxim Ignatovich goal, passed from Jonas Enlund. Novosibirsk took the lead with an unassisted Jarno Koskiranta goal. This held up for a 3-2 win, with the three stars going to Koskiranta, Koltsov, and Ignatovich.

Down in Astana, Barys brings in Metallurg Novokuznetsk. Rafael Khakimov and Jan Laco are the goalies. Novokuznetsk began in the first period with a Cade Farechild goal, via Ansel Galimov and Vladimir Malinovsky. Astana tied it on a power play goal from Nigel Dawes, powered by Dustin Boyd and Brandon Bochenski. Barys took the lead on an unassisted Boyd goal. Metallurg tied it again in the second period as Tomas Rachunek scored, thanks to Mikhail Kuklev and Ryan Stoa. Astana retook the lead in the third period on another Boyd goal, assisted by Bochenski. Novokuznetsk tied it again on a Mark Skutar goal, passed from James O'Brien. Metallurg took the lead on a Stoa goal, coming off of Dmitry Maltsev and Denis Kurepanov. Barys retied it with a Kevin Dallman goal, made possible by Boyd. In the shootout, Metallurg got goals from Stoa and Alexander Komaristy, while Roman Starchenko had the only Barys goal, so Metallurg won 5-4. The three stars were given to Boyd, Stoa, and Bochenski.

Northwest to Moscow, where Dynamo hosts Severstal Cherepovets. Roman Smiryagin is mismatched with Alexander Yeryomenko in goal. Moscow struck first in the first period on a Kaspars Daugavins goal, passed from Konstantin Gorovikov. Dynamo added on with a Maxim Karpov goal, courtesy of Filip Novak. Cherepovets got on the board with a Zakhar Azamastsev goal, made possible by Marek Kvapil and Vadim Berdnikov. Moscow shot back with an Alexei Tsvetkov penalty shot goal, after he was hooked by Arzamastsev. Dynamo extended the lead as Maxim Pestushko scored, thanks to Gorovikov. Moscow padded the lead on a Mat Robinson, with a lone assist by Gorovikov. This held up for a 5-1 win, with the three stars going to Gorovikov, Yeryomenko (25 for 26 in saves), and Karpov.

Out in Yaroslavl, Lokomotiv brings in Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. Ivan Kasutin and Curtis Sanford guard the cages. Yaroslavl opened in the first period on an Igor Musatov goal, assisted by Yegor Yakovlev and Kirill Kapustin. Nizhny Novgorod tied it on a Nikita Dvurechensky goal, via Petteri Nokelainen. Torpedo took the lead on a Dvurechensky goal in the second period, coming off of Alexei Potapov. Lokomotiv tied it with a Geoff Platt goal, made possible by Jiri Novotny and Martin Thornberg. Nizhny Novgorod pulled ahead with a Vladimir Malevich goal, going in unassisted. Yaroslavl pulled even again with a power play goal by Yegor Averin, powered by Staffan Kronwall. The tie lasted to a shootout, where Torpedo's Wojtek Wolski and Jarkko Immonen scored, topping a single tally by Sergei Konkov. The three stars of the 4-3 game were Dvurechensky, Malevich, and Averin.

Back toward Moscow, Atlant Mytishchi welcomes Medvescak Zagreb. Barry Brust and Atte Engren are between the pipes. Mytishchi started in the first period on an Andreas Engqvist goal, passed from Artyom Chernov and Sergei Shmelyov. Atlant added on with a power play goal by Matthew Gilroy, with a lone assist by Engqvist. Mytishchi extended the lead in the second period as Maxim Potapov scored, thanks to Maxim Mayorov and Mikhail Glukhov. Zagreb got on the board with a Bill Thomas power play goal, powered by Mathieu Carle. Atlant answered in the third period on a Chernov goal, guided in by Shmelyov on the power play. Medvescak got on the board with a shorthanded and unassisted goal by Mike Glumac. Mytishchi finished it at 5-2 with a Glukhov power play goal, courtesy of Shmelyov, who got a sock trick, and Gilroy. The three stars in the game were Engqvist, Shmelyov, and Chernov, while Gilroy and Glukhov get the honorable mentions.

Finally, Slovan Bratislava hosts Jokerit Helsinki. Henrik Karlsson and Jaroslav Janus occupy the creases.
