New York got things started in the second period as Ryan Callahan netted his sixteenth of the season, courtesy of Brandon Prust. Boston tied it on an Andrew Ference goal, his fourth of the year, made possible by David Krejci and Milan Lucic. The Rangers shot back on a Marian Gaborik goal, his twenty-fourth of the season, fueled by Carl Hagelin and Dan Girardi. The Bruins tied it up again with an Adam McQuaid goal, his second of the year, via Rich Peverley and Ference. New York took it with four seconds remaining in overtime as Gaborik put his second of the game and twenty-fifth of the campaign away on the power play, powered by Brad Richards and Callahan for a 3-2 win. The three stars went out to Gaborik, Ference, and Callahan.
Down a bit to New Jersey, as the Devils host the Philadelphia Flyers. Ilya Bryzgalov and Martin Brodeur are in front of the goals. Philadelphia scored first in the second period as Matt Read potted his fifteenth of the season, thanks to Wayne Simmonds. The Flyers added on with Scott Hartnell on the power play, his twenty-first of the year, powered by Kimmo Timonen and Claude Giroux. New Jersey quickly got one back as Alexei Ponikarovsky scored, with the help of Matt Taormina and David Clarkson. Philadelphia answered in the third period with another Hartnell goal, his second of the game and twenty-second of the season, coming off of Giroux and Simmonds. The Flyers iced it with Simmonds depositing his thirteenth of the year in the empty net, going down unassisted for a 4-1 win. The three stars went to Hartnell, Simmonds, and Bryzgalov (30 for 31 in saves), with Giroux earning the honorable mention.
Out to Vancouver, with the Canucks hosting the San Jose Sharks. Antti Niemi and Roberto Luongo get the green light to start. Vancouver led off with a David Booth goal, his seventh of the season, assisted by Alexander Edler and Chris Higgins. San Jose tied it with a Logan Couture goal, his nineteenth of the year, coming shorthanded from Andrew Desjardins. The Sharks took a second period lead with Couture's second of the game and twentieth of the season, a power play goal powered by Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski. The Canucks retied it as Cody Hodgson potted his twelfth of the year, courtesy of Mason Raymond and Aaron Rome. Ryan Kesler gave Vancouver a lead in the third period with his thirteenth of the campaign, made possible by Booth. San Jose answered on a Dan Boyle goal, his fourth of the season, set up by Pavelski and Desjardins. The Canucks would win 4-3 as Hodgson sank his second of the game and thirteenth of the year, with a helper from Raymond. South to Anaheim, as the Ducks bring in the Ottawa Senators. Craig Anderson and Jonas Hiller are in the blue paint. Anaheim got going in the second period as Corey Perry netted his twenty-second of the season, with the help of Bobby Ryan and Ryan Getzlaf. The Ducks added on with a Lubomir Visnovsky goal, his fifth of the campaign, fueled by Niklas Hagman and Saku Koivu. Ottawa got as close as 2-1 with a third period Chris Neil goal, his eighth of the year, made possible by Nick Foligno and Erik Karlsson. The three stars were given erroneously to Ryan, Hiller (31 for 32 in saves), and Francois Beauchemin, where any goal scorers could be easily substituted in.
Now for the regular game times, we begin in Winnipeg, as the Jets host the Florida Panthers. Scott Clemmensen and Ondrej Pavelec are tasked with stopping the puck. Florida was first on the board with a Kris Versteeg goal, his eighteenth of the season, with a lone assist by Marcel Goc. The Panthers added on when Mike Santorelli put away his sixth of the year, thanks to Krys Barch and Versteeg. Winnipeg got on the board with Nik Antropov nailing his seventh of the season in the second period on the power play, from Kyle Wellwood. The Jets tied it on another Antropov goal, his second of the game and eighth of the year coming in the third period via Andrew Ladd and Wellwood. Florida took the lead again as Versteeg's second of the night and nineteenth of the season found the twine with no assistance. Winnipeg got another equalizer on an Alex Burmistrov goal, his ninth of the year, guided in by Tobias Enstrom and Antti Miettinen. The tie lasted into a shootout where Wellwood and Versteeg matched goals, followed by a cancel-out by Blake Wheeler and Santorelli, all before Mikael Samuelsson clinched a victory of 4-3 for the Panthers over the Jets. The three stars were awarded to Versteeg, Antropov, and Zach Bogosian, while Wellwood and Santorelli are justifiable for the third slot.
South a tad to Detroit, as the Red Wings host the Columbus Blue Jackets. Curtis Sanford and Jimmy Howard wore the pads. Detroit answered with a Niklas Kronwall goal, his tenth of the year, fueled by Valtteri Filppula and Jiri Hudler. The Blue Jackets regained control in the second period as Nikita Nikitin potted his second of the season, with the help of Antoine Vermette on the power play. The Red Wings got the equalizer as Nicklas Lidstrom put his tenth of the year away on the power play, powered by Kronwall. Eastward, as the New York Islanders host the Carolina Hurricanes. Cam Ward and Evgeni Nabokov are the masked men. Carolina opened with Jeff Skinner sinking his thirteenth of the season, thanks to Zac Dalpe and Bryan Allen. New York tied it with a John Tavares goal, his eighteenth of the campaign, fueled by Kyle Okposo and Mark Streit. The game went to overtime, where Tavares proved to be the hero by potting his second of the game and nineteenth of the year, courtesy of P.A. Parenteau and Travis Hamonic for a 2-1 win. Tavares, Nabokov (32 for 33 in saves), and Skinner earned the three stars.
Into Canada, as the Toronto Maple Leafs welcome the Montreal Canadiens. Carey Price and Jonas Gustavsson will be the guards of the goalmouths. Rene Bourque got Montreal in the led first with his fourteenth of the season, assisted by Tomas Plekanec and Erik Cole. Toronto answered with a Matthew Lombardi goal, his fourth of the year, set up by Tyler Bozak. The Canadiens established a lead again in the third period as Raphael Diaz potted his third of the season, coming off of Scott Gomez. Montreal iced it at 3-1 when Lars Eller registered his tenth of the year, with assist provided by Travis Moen and Andrei Kostitsyn. Westward again, as the St. Louis Blues brought in the Buffalo Sabres. Ryan Miller and Jaroslav Halak tend the twines. Buffalo began as Mike Weber scored, thanks to Tyler Myers and Ville Leino. St. Louis replied on a B.J. Crombeen goal in the second period, via David Backes and Alex Pietrangelo. David Perron put the Blues in the lead with his fourth of the season, made possible by T.J. Oshie and Backes. Backes finally found twine in the third period with his fifteenth of the year, a power play goal, powered by Oshie and Pietrangelo. The Sabres got one back when Myers netted his fourth of the season, also a power play goal, set up by Marc-Andre Gragnani and Jason Pominville. Backes iced it at 4-2 for the Blues with his second of the game and sixteenth of the year, an empty net goal passed through Barret Jackman. Backes, Crombeen, and Jackman took the three stars, while Oshie, Pietrangelo, and Myers get honorable mentions.
Southeast a little to Nashville, where the Predators host the Chicago Blackhawks. Corey Crawford and Pekka Rinne began the game, but Crawford was pulled in favor of Ray Emery partway through the second period. Marian Hossa began the scoring in Chicago's favor, with his nineteenth of the season getting assistance from Andrew Shaw and Brent Seabrook. Craig Smith tied it for Nashville with a power play goal, his tenth of the year, powered by Ryan Ellis and Sergei Kostitsyn. Kevin Klein gave the Predators a lead in the second period with his third of the campaign, coming off of David Legwand and Gabriel Bourque. Colin Wilson extended the Nashville lead on his ninth of the season, assisted by Legwand and Patric Hornqvist. Kostitsyn added on for the Predators by registering his twelfth of the year, via Mike Fisher and Martin Erat. Hossa got one back for the Blackhawks in the third period with his second of the game and twentieth of the season, fueled by Niklas Hjalmarsson. Southwest now to Phoenix, as the Coyotes welcome the Tampa Bay Lightning. Dwayne Roloson and Mike Smith received the starting nods. Tamp Bay opened as Steven Stamkos recorded his thirty-second of the season, assisted by Martin St. Louis and Dominic Moore. Teddy Purcell extended the Lightning lead with his twelfth of the year, via Steve Downie and Pavel Kubina. St. Louis added on for Tampa Bay in the second period by making his eleventh of the season, coming off of Trevor Smith and Pierre-Cedric Labrie. Phoenix got on the board as Lauri Korpikoski notched his eleventh of the year, a shorthanded goal passed through Boyd Gordon. Downie got it back for the Lightning on his eighth of the campaign, fueled by Vincent Lecavalier. Kieth Yandle replied back for the Coyotes in the third period with his sixth of the season, made possible by Korpikoski and Ray Whitney. Whitney made it a 4-3 deficit for Phoenix, eventually a final score, on his fifteenth of the year, a power play goal powered by Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Shane Doan. The three stars were given to Korpikoski, Downie, and St. Louis, with honorable mention for Whitney.
Northward to Minnesota, with the Wild welcoming the Dallas Stars. Kari Lehtonen and Josh Harding took to the creases initially, but Lehtonen had a rough go of it, and Richard Bachman relieved him after the second period. Dallas began the scoring as Eric Nystrom potted his fourteenth of the season, assisted by Stephane Robidas and Vernon Fiddler. Minnesota answered in the second period with a Devin Setoguchi power play goal, his tenth of the year, powered by Dany Heatley and Nate Prosser. The Stars regained the lead with a Philip Larsen goal, pushed through by Alex Goligoski and Loui Eriksson. The Wild retied it on a Cal Clutterbuck goal, his twelfth of the season, coming off of Matt Cullen and Setoguchi. Minnesota took the lead fourteen seconds later when Chad Rau scored, helped along by Carson McMillan and Jed Ortmeyer.
