American League Championship Series: New York Yankees VS. Detroit Tigers

Welcome to the post for the ALCS between the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers. Please use this post as a reference for the entire series.

Game 1: Yankee Stadium, New York City, New York. On the mound: Doug Fister for Detroit and Andy Pettitte for New York. Detroit led off in the sixth inning as Prince Fielder singled to plate Austin Jackson and Delmon Young did the same for Miguel Cabrera. The Tigers got another in the eighth inning as Young hit a solo home run, followed by Avisail Garcia singling to drive in Jhonny Peralta. New York got on the board in the ninth inning as Ichiro Suzuki hit a two-run home run, also scoring Russell Martin, before tying the game with a two-run blast by Raul Ibanez, sweeping in Mark Teixeira. Detroit took the lead back in the twelfth inning with Young doubling Cabrera across the dish, followed by Andy Dirks singling to score Don Kelly. This made it 6-4, a final, with the win going to Drew Smyly and the loss to David Phelps. The Tigers own a 1-0 series lead.

Game 2: Yankee Stadium, New York City, New York. On the mound: Anibal Sanchez for Detroit and Hiroki Kuroda for New York. Detroit finally got going in the seventh inning as Delmon Young grounded into a fielder's choice to bring in Quintin Berry. The Tigers added on in the eighth inning with Avisail Garcia singling to plate Omar Infante and Miguel Cabrera doing the same for Austin Jackson. This stood up for a 3-0 win, picked up by Sanchez, while Phil Coke tossed the save, and Kuroda had no help in a very good game but loss of his own. The Tigers head home with a 2-0 series lead in their hands.

Game 3: Comerica Park, Detroit, Michigan. On the mound: Phil Hughes for New York and Justin Verlander for Detroit. Detroit opened with a fourth inning Delmon Young solo home run. The Tigers added on in the fifth inning as Miguel Cabrera doubled home Quintin Berry. New York tried a ninth inning rally as Eduardo Nunez hit a solo shot, but they fell short and lost 2-1. Verlander was dominant in the win, Phil Coke shut the door for a save, and Hughes had no help in an injury-shortened loss. Detroit holds New York on the verge with a 3-0 series lead, one win away from the World Series. 

Game 4: Comerica Park, Detroit, Michigan. On the mound: CC Sabathia for New York and Max Scherzer for Detroit. Detroit began in the first inning as Delmon Young singled to plate Omar Infante. The Tigers added on in the third inning with Avisail Garcia singling in Prince Fielder. Detroit padded the lead in the fourth inning as Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run home run, also scoring Infante, followed by Jhonny Peralta doing the same thing for Young. New York got on the board in the sixth inning as Nick Swisher doubled to drive in Eduardo Nunez. The Tigers replied in the seventh inning on an Austin Jackson solo home run. Detroit struck again as Peralta hit a solo shot in the eighth inning. This concluded the scoring in an 8-1 game. Scherzer earned the win and Sabathia was crushed in the loss. Detroit advances to the World Series against an opponent yet to be named by sweeping the Yankees 4-0.
