The Revolution added on in the fifty-fifth minute as Jose Goncalves scored, with the help of Charlie Davies and Nguyen. Columbus' playoff hopes dimmed further in the sixty-first minute as Ethan Finlay was sent off on a straight red card for his contact with Shuttleworth in goal. In the sixty-sixth minute, the Crew's Justin Meram was given a yellow card for a foul. Columbus got on the board with a Tony Tchani goal in the sixty-ninth minute, made possible by Meram. New England shot back on a Bunbury goal in the seventy-seventh minute, coming off of Daigo Kobayashi. The Crew went to nine men as Meram was ejected for his second yellow card foul in the eighty-fifth minute. The Revolution won the game 3-1, with Nguyen being the man of the match.
