NHL February 23rd, 2015

Two games tonight, with the first in...

New Jersey, where the Devils host the Arizona Coyotes. Mike Smith and Cory Schneider are the experienced goalies. New Jersey led off in the first period on a Scott Gomez goal, his fifth of the season, going in unassisted. The Devils added on in the third period on a Michael Cammalleri goal, his twenty-first of the year, via Jordin Tootoo and Jon Merrill. New Jersey iced it at 3-0 with a Cammalleri empty net goal, his second of the game and twenty-second of the year, set up by Stephen Gionta and Adam Larsson. The three stars went to Schneider (38 save shutout), Cammalleri, and Gomez.

The other game is the Anaheim Ducks hosting the Detroit Red Wings. Jimmy Howard and John Gibson are in the creases. Detroit began in the second period on a Pavel Datsyuk goal, his twentieth of the season, going in unassisted. The Red Wings added on with a Datsyuk power play goal, his second of the game and twenty-first of the year, powered by Justin Abdelkader and Niklas Kronwall. Anaheim got on the board in the third period as Andrew Cogliano scored, his tenth of the season, courtesy of Hampus Lindholm and Jakob Silfverberg. The Ducks tied it on a Emerson Etem goal, his third of the year, with a lone assist by Clayton Stoner. Anaheim gained the lead on a Francois Beauchemin goal, his seventh of the season, guided in by Ryan Getzlaf and Kyle Palmieri. Detroit tied it on a Riley Sheahan goal, his tenth of the year, coming off of Gustav Nyquist and Kronwall. The Ducks won 4-3 on shootout goals from Corey Perry and Silfverberg, topping Nyquist to secure the game. The three stars were Datsyuk, Silfverberg, and Kronwall.
