KHL 2016/17 - Day 129

Only three games on today, beginning with...

Kunlun Red Star Beijing hosting Vityaz Podolsk. Igor Saprykin and Tomi Karhunen are set to start in goal. Podolsk started in the first period with an Alexei Makeyev goal, via Roman Horak and Pavel Lukin. Vityaz added on with another Makeyev goal, assisted by Maxim Afinogenov. Beijing got on the board in the second period with a Chad Rau goal, coming off of Linus Videll. This only made it 2-1, the eventual final, with the three stars going to Makeyev, Saprykin (33 for 34 in saves), and Rau.

In Russia, Traktor Chelyabinsk welcomes Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. Ilya Proskuryakov and Vasily Demchenko protect the nets. Nizhny Novgorod got going in the second period with a Vladimir Galuzin goal, passed from Brandon McMillan and Dmitry Rodionychev. Torpedo added on with an Evgeny Mozer goal, helped along by Alexei Potapov and Vyacheslav Kulyomin. Chelyabinsk got on the board in the third period with a Dmitry Pestunov goal, courtesy of Artyom Borodkin. Traktor tied it on a Konstantin Klimontov power play goal, powered by Alexei Petrov. Torpedo won 3-2 in the shootout with tallies by Galuzin and Kaspars Daugavins. The three stars were Galuzin, Daugavins, and Mozer.

Finally, Salavat Yulaev Ufa brings in Spartak Moscow. Markus Svensson and Niklas Svedberg are the Scandinavian goalies. Moscow opened in the first period with a Ryan Stoa goal, coming off of Tim Stapleton and Vladislav Provolnev. Spartak added on with a Dmitry Kalinin power play goal, powered by Stoa. Ufa got on the board in the second period with a Tomas Mertl power play goal, made possible by Linus Omark. Salavat Yulaev tied it on a Kirill Kaprizov goal, guided in by Omark. Ufa took the lead with another Kaprizov goal, with a lone assist by Omark, who earned a sock trick. Salavat Yulaev added on with an Alexander Loginov power play goal, fueled by Sami Lepisto and Kaprizov. Moscow pulled back in the third period with an Alexei Kirillov goal, helped along by Artyom Voronin and Alexander Vasilyev. Ufa iced it at 5-3 with a Denis Kulyash empty net goal, set up by Kaprizov. The three stars were awarded to Kaprizov, Omark, and Stoa.
