NHL 2017-18 Day 86 - The Winter Classic

Just one game on to ring in the New Year, as the Buffalo Sabres act as hosts to the New York Rangers at Citi Field in the 2018 Winter Classic. Henrik Lundqvist and Robin Lehner man the nets. New York started in the first period with a Paul Carey goal, his fifth of the season, made possible by Jesper Fast and Boo Nieves. The Rangers added on with a Michael Grabner goal, his eighteenth of the year, passed from Kevin Hayes and J.T. Miller. Buffalo got on the board in the second period with a Sam Reinhart power play goal, his sixth of the season, powered by Kyle Okposo and Rasmus Ristolainen. The Sabres tied it on a Ristolainen goal in the third period, his second of the year, assisted by Ryan O'Reilly and Okposo. New York won 3-2 in overtime on a Miller power play goal, his eighth of the campaign, with assists provided by Kevin Shattenkirk and Mats Zuccarello. The three stars went to Miller, Ristolainen, and Okposo.
