NHL 2018/19 - Day 177

Three games on for the penultimate day of the regular season. We begin with...

The New York Rangers hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets. Sergei Bobrovsky and Alexandar Georgiev play in goal. New York got going in the second period with a Chris Kreider goal, his twenty-eighth of the season, with a lone assist by Mika Zibanejad. Columbus tied it in the third period with a Ryan Dzingel goal, his twenty-sixth of the year, passed from Nick Foligno and David Savard. The Blue Jackets took the lead on an Artemi Panarin goal, his twenty-eighth of the season, helped along by Savard. The Rangers tied it again with a Pavel Buchnevich goal, his twenty-first of the year, guided in by Zibanejad and Ryan Strome. The tie went to a shootout, where Panarin's lone tally gave the Blue Jackets a 3-2 win. The three stars were Panarin, Savard, and Zibanejad.

Along to Chicago, as the Blackhawks welcome the Dallas Stars. Anton Khudobin and Corey Crawford draw the starts in goal. Chicago opened in the first period on a Patrick Kane goal, his forty-third of the season, assisted by Drake Caggiula and Jonathan Toews. Cam Ward replaced Crawford in the second period. The Blackhawks added on in the second period with a Dominik Kahun goal, his thirteenth of the year, via Brandon Saad and Brent Seabrook. Chicago extended the lead as Chris Kunitz scored his fifth of the season, thanks to David Kampf. The Blackhawks padded the lead with a Dylan Strome goal, his twentieth of the year, fueled by Erik Gustafsson and Alex DeBrincat. Chicago kept going in the third period with a Slater Koekkoek goal, his second of the season, made possible by Seabrook and Toews. Dallas got on the board with a Joel L'Esperance power play goal, his second of the year, powered by Tyler Seguin and Alexander Radulov. The Blackhawks capped it at 6-1 with a Kane goal, his second of the game and forty-fourth of the season, coming off of Caggiula and Duncan Keith. The three stars were Kane, Caggiula, and Seabrook, while Toews gets an honorable mention.

Finally, the Anaheim Ducks bring in the Los Angeles Kings. Jack Campbell and John Gibson man the creases. Los Angeles started in the first period with a Michael Amadio goal, his sixth of the season, passed from Austin Wagner and Matt Roy. Anaheim tied it on a Carter Rowney goal, his seventh of the year, courtesy of Max Jones and Derek Grant. The Ducks took the lead in the second period with a Korbinian Holzer goal, coming off of Jones. Anaheim added on with a Daniel Sprong goal, his fourteenth of the season, assisted by Devin Shore and Cam Fowler. The Ducks extended the lead in the third period with a Sam Steel shorthanded goal, his sixth of the year, set up by Jakob Silfverberg and Fowler. The Kings got one back with a Carl Grundstrom goal, his fifth of the season, going in unassisted. Anaheim iced it at 5-2 with a Silfverberg empty net goal, his twenty-fourth of the year, set up by Rickard Rakell. The three stars were Silfverberg, Jones, and Fowler.
