The Washington Capitals welcoming the Calgary Flames. Cam Talbot and Ilya Samsonov draw the starts in goal. Calgary opened in the first period with an Andrew Mangiapane goal, his third of the season, coming off of Matthew Tkachuk. Washington tied it with a Jakub Vrana goal, his seventh of the year, via Evgeny Kuznetsov and Tom Wilson. The Capitals took the lead with an unassisted Vrana goal, his second of the game and eighth of the season. The Flames retied it on an Elias Lindholm goal, his tenth of the year, passed from Oliver Kylington and Mangiapane. Washington regained the lead in the second period with a Vrana goal to complete his hat trick, his ninth of the season, assisted by Kuznetsov and Michal Kempny. The Capitals added on in the third period with a Lars Eller power play goal, his fifth of the year, powered by Wilson. The final stood at 4-2, with the three stars going to Vrana, Kuznetsov, and Mangiapane, while Wilson gets an honorable mention.
Out west, the Anaheim Ducks bring in the Chicago Blackhawks. Robin Lehner and Ryan Miller are in the creases. Chicago started in the first period with an Adam Boqvist goal, coming off of Alex Nylander and Jonathan Toews. The Blackhawks added on with an Alex DeBrincat power play goal, his fourth of the season, powered by Patrick Kane and Dominik Kubalik. Anaheim got on the board with a Sam Steel goal in the second period, courtesy of Erik Gudbranson and Ryan Getzlaf. The Ducks tied it on a Nick Ritchie power play goal in the third period, his second of the year, with assists provided by Steel and Cam Fowler. Chicago won 3-2 in overtime with a Kane goal, his fourth of the campaign, passed from Toews and Duncan Keith. The three stars were Kane, Toews, and Steel.
