The trade deadline has passed in the NHL, and now the Columbus Blue Jackets host the Ottawa Senators. Marcus Hogberg and Elvis Merzlikins are the inexperienced goalies. Columbus opened in the first period with a Nick Foligno goal, his eighth of the season, via Pierre-Luc Dubois and Gustav Nyquist. Ottawa tied it on a Connor Brown goal, his twelfth of the year, passed from Chris Tierney and Christian Jaros. The Senators took the lead in the second period with with a Brown power play goal, his second of the game and thirteenth of the season, powered by Artem Anisimov and Mike Reilly. The Blue Jackets tied it again with a Foligno goal, his ninth of the year, passed from Boone Jenner and Vladislav Gavrikov. Ottawa retook the lead on a Colin White goal, his sixth of the season, coming off of Jayce Hawryluk and Matthew Peca. Columbus tied it again with a Stefan Matteau goal, his second of the year, with helpers from Scott Harrington and Kevin Stenlund. The Blue Jackets won 4-3 in overtime with an Emil Bemstrom goal, his seventh of the campaign, assisted by Zach Werenski and Jenner. The three stars were Foligno, Brown, and Jenner.
