NHL 2022-23 - Day 11

There's 12 games on for today's schedule, beginning with...

The Boston Bruins hosting the Anaheim Ducks. John Gibson and Linus Ullmark man the nets. Boston got going in the second period with a Taylor Hall goal, his second of the season, assisted by Hampus Lindholm and Matt Grzelcyk. Anaheim tied it on a Frank Vatrano goal, his third of the year, via Mason McTavish and Ryan Strome. The tie went to a shootout, where Hall had the lone tally to give the Bruins a 2-1 win. The three stars were Hall, Ullmark (30 for 31 in saves), and Gibson (35 for 36 in saves).

Along to Toronto, as the Maple Leafs welcome the Dallas Stars. Scott Wedgewood and Ilya Samsonov make the starts in goal. Dallas kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Luke Glendening goal, coming off of Nils Lundkvist and Joel Kiviranta. Toronto tied it on an Alexander Kerfoot power play goal in the second period, powered by Michael Bunting and Rasmus Sandin. The Maple Leafs took the lead in the third period with a Nicholas Robertson goal, via Bunting and William Nylander. The Stars tied it on a Tyler Seguin power play goal, his second of the season, with assists provided by Mason Marchment and Wyatt Johnston. Toronto won 3-2 in overtime with a Robertson goal, his second of the game, made possible by Auston Matthews and Morgan Rielly. . The three stars were Robertson, Bunting, and Kerfoot.

Staying in Canada, the Montreal Canadiens bring in the Arizona Coyotes. Connor Ingram and Jake Allen are in the blue paint. Montreal led off in the first period with a Josh Anderson goal, his second of the season, via Jonathan Drouin and Kirby Dach. The Canadiens added on with a Cole Caufield goal, his fourth of the year, going in unassisted. Montreal extended the lead as Brendan Gallagher scored, thanks to David Savard. The Canadiens padded the lead in the second period on a Juraj Slafkovsky unassisted goal. Montreal continued with a Nick Suzuki penalty shot goal, his third of the season. Arizona got on the board in the third period with a J.J. Moser goal, helped along by Travis Boyd and Lawson Crouse. The Coyotes got closer with a Boyd goal, with helpers from Crouse and Clayton Keller. The Canadiens iced it at 6-2 with a Sean Monahan empty net goal, his second of the year, going in unassisted. The three stars were Boyd, Crouse, and Slafkovsky.

Back to Ontario, as the Senators host the Washington Capitals. Darcy Kuemper and Anton Forsberg are between the pipes. Washington struck first in the first period with a T.J. Oshie power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Marcus Johansson and John Carlson. The Capitals added on with an Anthony Mantha power play goal, his third of the year, with assists provided by Dmitry Orlov and Conor Sheary. Ottawa got on the board in the second period with a Drake Batherson power play goal, his second of the season, helped along by Brady Tkachuk and Alex DeBrincat. The Senators tied it on a Batherson power play goal, his second of the game and third of the year, guided in by Thomas Chabot and Tkachuk. Ottawa gained the lead in the third period with a Shane Pinto goal, his third of the season, made possible by Tyler Motte and Mathieu Joseph. The Senators extended the lead with a Motte empty net goal, going in unassisted. Ottawa iced it at 5-2 with a DeBrincat empty net goal, set up by Claude Giroux. The three stars were Batherson, Motte, and DeBrincat, while Tkachuk gets an honorable mention.

Stateside, the New York Rangers welcome the San Jose Sharks. James Reimer and Igor Shesterkin are in the creases. San Jose started in the first period with a Logan Couture power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Luke Kunin and Erik Karlsson. New York tied it in the second period with a Filip Chytil goal, his second of the year, passed from Chris Kreider. The Rangers took the lead with an Artemi Panarin goal, his third of the season, made possible by Adam Fox and Vincent Trocheck. The Sharks tied it on a Radim Simek goal, fueled by Matt Nieto and Oskar Lindblom. San Jose won 3-2 in overtime with a Karlsson goal, his second of the year, assisted by Timo Meier and Tomas Hertl. The three stars were Karlsson, Simek, and Couture.

Over in Pittsburgh, the Penguins bring in the Los Angeles Kings. Cal Petersen and Tristan Jarry patrol the creases. Pittsburgh opened in the first period with a Jan Rutta goal, assisted by Evgeni Malkin and Jason Zucker. The Penguins added on with a Jake Guentzel goal, his third of the season, via Kris Letang and Sidney Crosby. Pittsburgh extended the lead as Rickard Rakell scored his second of the year, thanks to Jeff Petry and Marcus Pettersson. Jonathan Quick replaced Petersen in goal in the second period. The Penguins padded the lead in the second period on a Petry power play goal, coming off of Danton Heinen. Pittsburgh continued with a Jeff Carter goal in the third period, his second of the season, courtesy of Kasperi Kapanen and Petry. The Penguins struck again with a Ryan Poehling shorthanded goal, going in unassisted. Los Angeles got on the board with a Carl Grundstrom power play goal, with helpers from Brandt Clarke and Drew Doughty. The final stood at 6-1, with the three stars being Petry, Guentzel, and Jarry (39 for 40 in saves).

Further west, the Columbus Blue Jackets host the Nashville Predators. Kevin Lankinen and Elvis Merzlikins receive the starting nods in goal. Nashville began in the first period with a Tanner Jeannot goal, his second of the season, fueled by Colton Sissons and Yakov Trenin. The Predators added on with a Ryan Johansen goal, his second of the year, guided in by Mattias Ekholm and Nino Niederreiter. Columbus got on the board in the second period with a Jake Bean goal, via Kent Johnson and Yegor Chinakhov. Nashville fired back with a Trenin goal, assisted by Jeannot and Sissons. The Blue Jackets responded in the third period with a Johnny Gaudreau goal, his third of the season, coming off of Nick Blankenburg. Columbus tied it on a Justin Danforth goal, his second of the year, passed from Chinakhov and Andrew Peeke. The Blue Jackets gained the lead with a Blankenburg goal, made possible by Jakub Voracek and Jack Roslovic. Columbus iced it at 5-3 with a Gaudreau empty net goal, his second of the game and fourth of the year, set up by Gustav Nyquist. The three stars belonged to Gaudreau, Blankenburg, and Chinakhov, while Trenin, Jeannot, and Sissons get the honorable mentions.

Eastward to New York, as the Islanders welcome the New Jersey Devils. Mackenzie Blackwood and Ilya Sorokin man the creases. New Jersey dented the scoreboard in the second period with a Jack Hughes goal, assisted by Damon Severson. The Devils added on with an Ondrej Palat goal, his second of the season, coming off of Jesper Bratt and Nico Hischier. New Jersey extended the lead in the third period as Palat scored his second of the game and third of the year, thanks to Hischier and Bratt. New York got on the board with an Anders Lee goal, his second of the season, made possible by Kyle Palmieri and Mathew Barzal. The Devils iced it at 4-1 with a Hischier empty net goal, his second of the year, going in unassisted. The three stars were Palat, Hischier, and Bratt.

Northwest to Minnesota, as the Wild bring in the Vancouver Canucks. Thatcher Demko and Marc-Andre Fleury guard the cages. Minnesota cracked the scoresheet in the first period with a Mats Zuccarello goal, his third of the season, assisted by Ryan Hartman and Jacob Middleton. Vancouver tied it on a Bo Horvat goal, his fourth of the year, via Tanner Pearson and Brock Boeser. The Canucks pulled ahead on a Nils Aman goal, courtesy of Dakota Joshua and Quinn Hughes. The Wild tied it on a Sam Steel goal, his second of the season, passed from Kirill Kaprizov. Vancouver retook the lead in the second period with a Joshua goal, guided in by Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Aman. Minnesota tied it again in the third period with a Zuccarello power play goal, his second of the game and fourth of the year, powered by Kaprizov and Calen Addison. The Wild won 4-3 in overtime with a Kaprizov goal, his fourth of the campaign, fueled by Zuccarello and Addison. The three stars were Zuccarello, Kaprizov, and Addison, while Aman and Joshua get the honorable mentions.

Out to Edmonton, as the Oilers host the Carolina Hurricanes. Frederik Andersen and Jack Campbell protect the nets. Edmonton kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Zach Hyman power play goal, powered by Tyson Barrie and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Carolina tied it in the second period with an Andrei Svechnikov goal, his fourth of the season, assisted by Sebastian Aho and Jaccob Slavin. The Oilers took the lead with a Ryan McLeod shorthanded goal, his second of the year, set up by Nugent-Hopkins and Evan Bouchard. Edmonton added on with an Evander Kane goal, helped along by Connor McDavid. The Hurricanes got one back on another Svechnikov goal, his second of the game and fifth of the season, made possible by Martin Necas and Brent Burns. The Oilers replied with a Nugent-Hopkins goal in the third period, his second of the year, guided in by Hyman and McDavid. Carolina shot back with a Svechnikov power play goal to complete his hat trick on his sixth of the season, with a helper from Aho and Stefan Noesen. Edmonton responded again with a Leon Draisaitl power play goal, his second of the year, with assists provided by McDavid and Nugent-Hopkins. The Hurricanes stayed closer with a Necas power play goal, his third of the season, via Aho and Burns. The Oilers iced it at 6-4 with a McDavid empty net goal, his fifth of the year, fueled by Draisaitl. The three stars were Nugent-Hopkins, Svechnikov, and McDavid, while Aho, Hyman, Draisaitl, Necas, and Burns get the honorable mentions.

Staying in Alberta, the Calgary Flames welcome the Buffalo Sabres. Eric Comrie and Jacob Markstrom are tabbed to start in goal. Calgary drew first blood in the first period with an Andrew Mangiapane goal, his second of the season, via Nazem Kadri and Dillon Dube. Buffalo tied it with a Dylan Cozens goal, coming off of Jacob Bryson and Vinnie Hinostroza. The Sabres took the lead with a Rasmus Dahlin goal, his fourth of the year, assisted by JJ Peterka and Hinostroza. Buffalo added on with a Casey Mittelstadt shorthanded goal, set up by Hinostroza and Owen Power. Dan Vladar replaced Markstrom in goal for the second period. The Sabres extended the lead in the second period as Alex Tuch scored his third of the season, thanks to Power and Bryson. The Flames got one back with a Trevor Lewis goal, courtesy of Jonathan Huberdeau and Michael Stone. Calgary got closer with a Nikita Zadorov goal, helped along by Rasmus Andersson and Tyler Toffoli. Buffalo answered with a Tuch power play goal, his second of the game and fourth of the year, powered by Tage Thompson and Mittelstadt. The Sabres finished it at 6-3 with a Tuch empty net goal to complete his hat trick on his fifth of the campaign, guided in by Zemgus Girgensons and Cozens. The three stars were Tuch, Hinostroza, and Mittelstadt, while Cozens, Power, and Bryson get the honorable mentions.

Finally, the Vegas Golden Knights bring in the Winnipeg Jets. David Rittich and Adin Hill are the backups in goal. Vegas got on the board first in the first period with a Jack Eichel goal, his second of the season, assisted by Reilly Smith and Alex Pietrangelo. The Golden Knights added on with a William Karlsson goal, his second of the year, via Michael Amadio and Jonathan Marchessault. Vegas extended the lead as Chandler Stephenson scored, thanks to Shea Theodore. The Golden Knights padded the lead on another Eichel goal, his second of the game and third of the season, going in unassisted. Winnipeg got on the board in the second period with a Pierre-Luc Dubois goal, passed from Neal Pionk and Cole Perfetti. The Jets got closer in the third period with a Pionk goal, his third of the year, with helpers from Josh Morrissey and Adam Lowry. Vegas capped it at 5-2 with an empty net goal by Marchessault, his fourth of the campaign, set up by Karlsson and Pietrangelo. The three stars were Eichel, Karlsson, and Marchessault, while Pionk and Pietrangelo get the honorable mentions.
