NHL 2022-23 - Day 44

Just two games on this Tuesday, beginning with...

The Montreal Canadiens hosting the Buffalo Sabres. Craig Anderson and Jake Allen are the veteran goalies. Buffalo kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Rasmus Dahlin goal, his eighth of the season, coming off of Tage Thompson and Jeff Skinner. The Sabres added on with a J.J. Peterka goal, his fourth of the year, via Dylan Cozens and Jack Quinn. Buffalo extended the lead on an Alex Tuch power play goal, his tenth of the season, powered by Dahlin and Skinner. Montreal got on the board with a Cole Caufield goal, his twelfth of the year, assisted by Kaiden Guhle and David Savard. The Sabres fired back in the second period with a Skinner goal, his sixth of the season, passed from Thompson and Tuch. The Canadiens got one back with a Sean Monahan goal, his fourth of the year, courtesy of Evgenii Dadonov and Chris Wideman. Buffalo fired back in the third period with a Henri Jokiharju goal, guided in by Tuch and Thompson. The Sabres padded the lead on a Thompson goal, his thirteenth of the season, helped along by Skinner and Vinnie Hinostroza. Buffalo continued with a Skinner power play goal, his second of the game and seventh of the year, with assists provided by Cozens and Dahlin. The final held at 7-2, with the three stars being Skinner, Thompson, and Tuch, while Dahlin and Cozens receive the honorable mentions.

Out west, the Los Angeles Kings host the New York Rangers. Igor Shesterkin and Cal Petersen are in the creases. Los Angeles drew first blood in the first period with a Kevin Fiala goal, his seventh of the season, fueled by Adrian Kempe and Anze Kopitar. The Kings added on with a Gabriel Vilardi power play goal, his eleventh of the year, powered by Fiala and Drew Doughty. New York got on the board in the second period with a Braden Schneider goal, via Filip Chytil and Alexis Lafreniere. The Rangers tied it on a Vincent Trocheck goal, his seventh of the season, coming off of Ryan Lindgren and Adam Fox. New York gained the lead with a Kaapo Kakko goal, his fourth of the year, helped along by Chytil and Lafreniere. Los Angeles tied it in the third period with a Sean Walker goal, courtesy of Kopitar and Fiala. The Rangers regained the lead with a Chris Kreider goal, his eighth of the season, assisted by Mika Zibanejad. New York iced it at 5-3 with a Kreider empty net goal, his second of the game and ninth of the year, set up by Jimmy Vesey and K'Andre Miller. The three stars were Kreider, Chytil, and Lafreniere, while Fiala and Kopitar get the honorable mentions.
