Pittsburgh led off in the first period with a Rickard Rakell power play goal, his seventeenth of the season, powered by Jake Guentzel and Jeff Petry. The Penguins added on with a Jason Zucker goal, his thirteenth of the year, going in unassisted. Pittsburgh extended the lead in the second period as Guentzel scored his nineteenth of the season, thanks to Bryan Rust. Ottawa got on the board with a Brady Tkachuk goal, his seventeenth of the year, via Tim Stutzle. The Penguins shot back with a Guentzel goal, his second of the game and twentieth of the campaign, made possible by Sidney Crosby and Rust in the third period. The three stars of the 4-1 game were Jarry (44 for 45 in saves), Guentzel, and Rust.
Out west, the Vancouver Canucks bring in the Colorado Avalanche. Alexandar Georgiev and Collin Delia are the goalies. Colorado began in the first period with an Andrew Cogliano goal, his seventh of the season, assisted by Alex Newhook. The Avalanche added on in the second period with a Valeri Nichushkin power play goal, his eighth of the year, powered by J.T. Compher and Nathan MacKinnon. Colorado extended the lead as Mikko Rantanen scored his thirty-second of the season on the power play, thanks to MacKinnon and Evan Rodrigues. Vancouver got on the board with an Elias Pettersson goal, his nineteenth of the year, made possible by Brock Boeser and Andrei Kuzmenko. The Avalanche answered with a Brad Hunt goal, his third of the season, fueled by Rantanen. The final held at 4-1, with the three stars being Rantanen, MacKinnon, and Georgiev (28 for 29 in saves).
