Seattle added on in the sixth inning when Xavier Avery singled home Abraham Almonte, followed by Jesus Montero scoring on a balk, Jesus Sucre singling to finish Avery's trip around the bases, and then he came home on a Nate Tenbrink two-run home run. The Mariners extended the lead in the eighth inning with a three-run home run by James Jones, sweeping in Cole Gillespie and Sucre, followed by Ji-Man Choi singling to knock in Chris Taylor.
