2015/16 Premier League Week 9

The English sides are back in action, with all teams playing this weekend. We begin in...

London, where Tottenham Hotspur hosts Liverpool. Simon Mignolet and Hugo Lloris are the keepers. James Milner of Liverpool took a yellow card for his thirty-fifth minute foul. Erik Lamela of Tottenham Hotspur had a yellow card for a fifty-ninth minute foul. Lucas Leiva of Liverpool received a yellow card in stoppage time for a foul. The final stood at 0-0.

Staying in London, Chelsea welcomes Aston Villa. Brad Guzan and Asmir Begovic are in goal. Chelsea led off in the thirty-fourth minute on a Diego Costa goal, via Willian. Jordan Ayew of Aston Villa took a yellow card for his forty-ninth minute foul. In the fifty-fourth minute, Alan Hutton of Aston Villa put the ball in his own net, giving Chelsea a larger lead. Kieran Richardson of Aston Villa received a yellow card for his sixty-second minute foul. In the seventy-fourth minute, Chelsea's Willian took a yellow card for dissent. Aston Villa saw Jack Grealish get booked on a yellow card for his eighty-fifth minute foul. The final favored Chelsea 2-0.

A third game from London sees Crystal Palace bring in West Ham United. Adrian and Wayne Hennessey are set to start in goal. James Tomkins of West Ham United took a yellow card for his twentieth minute foul. West Ham United struck first with a Carl Jenkinson goal in the twenty-second minute, coming off of Victor Moses. Crystal Palace tied it in the twenty-fifth minute on a Yohan Cabaye penalty kick goal. Dwight Gayle of Crystal Palace got booked on a yellow card for a thirty-second minute foul. Dimitri Payet of West Ham United received a yellow card for a foul in the fortieth minute. Crystal Palace went down to ten men when Gayle took another yellow card for his forty-fourth minute foul, earning an ejection. In the sixty-ninth minute, Crystal Palace's Mile Jedinak received a yellow card for a foul. West Ham United took the lead in the eighty-eighth minute on a Manuel Lanzini goal, passed from Nikica Jelavic. Jelavic received a yellow card in stoppage time, but a minute later, West Ham United iced it at 3-1 with a Payet goal in stoppage time, set up by Lanzini.

Up north, Everton hosts Manchester United. David de Gea and Tim Howard are the world class goalies. Manchester United was first to score in the eighteenth minute with a Morgan Schneiderlin goal, courtesy of Chris Smalling. In the twenty-second minute, Ander Herrera scored for Manchester United, with the help of Marcos Rojo. Seamus Coleman of Everton received a yellow card for his argument. Manchester United had two yellow cards in the second half, for Bastian Schweinsteiger in the fiftieth minute and Rojo in the fifty-second minute, both for fouls. Manchester United extended the lead with a Wayne Rooney goal in the sixty-second minute, via Herrera. Everton's Romelu Lukaku received a yellow card for a seventieth minute rules violation. The final held at 3-0 for Manchester United.

Into Manchester, as City welcomes Bournemouth. Adam Federici and Joe Hart protect the nets. Manchester City began in the seventh minute on a Raheem Sterling goal, assisted by Wilfried Bony. In the eleventh minute, Bony added on for Manchester City with his goal. Glenn Murray got Bournemouth on the board in the twenty-second minute, with the help of Eunan O'Kane. In the twenty-sixth minute, Bacary Sagna of Manchester City received a yellow card for his foul. Manchester City shot back with a Sterling goal in the twenty-ninth minute, helped along by Kevin de Bruyne. In the forty-second minute, Manchester City's Nicolas Otamendi took a yellow card for a foul. Sterling extended the Manchester City lead by completing his hat trick in first half stoppage time. Matt Ritchie of Bournemouth took a yellow card for his foul in the eighty-seventh minute. Manchester City capped the win at 5-1 with a Bony goal in the eighty-ninth minute, coming off of Jesus Navas.

In the south, Southampton brings in Leicester City. Kasper Schmeichel and Kelvin Davis are in the six-yard boxes. Southampton opened in the twenty-first minute with a Jose Fonte goal, coming off of Dusan Tadic. In the twenty-second minute, Southampton's Victor Wanyama took a yellow card for a foul. Southampton added on with a Virgil van Dijk goal in the thirty-seventh minute. Leicester City got on the board in the sixty-sixth minute with a Jamie Vardy goal, set up by Nathan Dyer. Southampton took a yellow card for a seventy-sixth minute Ryan Bertrand foul. Leicester City tied it on a Vardy goal in stoppage time, made possible by Riyad Mahrez. The final stuck at 2-2.

Along to West Bromwich Albion hosting Sunderland. Costel Pantilimon and Boaz Myhill are between the posts. West Bromwich Albion had a yellow card for a ninth minute foul by Craig Dawson. In the fifty-fourth minute, West Bromwich Albion got going with a Saido Berahino goal. Sunderland keeper Pantilimon received a yellow card in the fifty-fifth minute for his actions after the goal. West Bromwich Albion took a yellow card on a fifty-sixth minute incident with Claudio Yacob. In the eighty-fourth minute, Fabio Borini of Sunderland had a yellow card for a foul. West Bromwich Albion cruised to a 1-0 win.

The last of Saturday's eight games has Watford welcoming Arsenal. Petr Cech and Heurelho Gomes are the gloved men. Nyom of Watford took a yellow card for his forty-seventh minute foul. Arsenal saw a yellow card for a Per Mertesacker foul in the fifty-eighth minute. Arsenal dented the scoreboard in the fifty-ninth minute on an Alexis Sanchez goal, set up by Mesut Ozil. Watford had a yellow card go to Gomes in the sixty-third minute. Arsenal added on with a sixty-eighth minute goal by Olivier Giroud, via Ozil. Arsenal extended the lead as Aaron Ramsey scored in the seventy-fourth minute, with the help of Hector Bellerin. This produced the 3-0 final for Arsenal.

Sunday's game is Newcastle United bringing in Norwich City. John Ruddy and Robert Elliot are in goal. Cheick Tiote of Newcastle United had a yellow card for his sixth minute foul. In the fourteenth minute, Newcastle United started with a Georginio Wijnaldum goal, passed from Moussa Sissoko. Norwich City tied it in the twentieth minute with a Dieumerci Mbokani goal, courtesy of Martin Olsson. Newcastle United reclaimed the lead on a twenty-sixth minute Wijnaldum goal, again set up by Sissoko. Newcastle United added on with a thirty-third minute goal from Ayoze Perez. Norwich City got one back on a Nathan Redmond goal in the thirty-fourth minute, coming off of Olsson. In the sixty-fourth minute, Aleksandar Mitrovic scored for Newcastle United, thanks to Sissoko, who earned a sock trick for his third assist. Newcastle United extended the lead with a Wijnaldum goal in the sixty-sixth minute, completing his hat trick on a passed ball from Daryl Janmaat. Graham Dorrans of Norwich City received a yellow card for dissent in the same minute. Newcastle United padded the lead on another Wijnaldum goal in the eighty-fifth minute, his fourth of the game, with an assist from Perez. The final stood at 6-2 for Newcastle United. 

Monday saw the final game of the weekend, with Swansea City hosting Stoke City. Jack Butland and Lukasz Fabianski are the keepers. Stoke City took an early lead with a Bojan penalty kick goal in the fourth minute. In the forty-first minute, Swansea City's Ashley Williams had a yellow card for a foul. Stoke City saw a yellow card given to Erik Pieters for his forty-fifth minute foul. Swansea City's Jonjo Shelvey received a yellow card in the fifty-seventh minute for a foul. Xherdan Shaqiri of Stoke City had a yellow card in the sixty-sixth minute. The final held at 1-0, favoring Stoke City.

2015/16 KHL Season - Day 56

Eight games once again grace the schedule. The day begins in...

Khabarovsk, with Amur hosting Severstal Cherepovets. Jakub Stepanek and Juha Metsola are set to start in goal. Khabarovsk was first to score in the first period on a Denis Tolpeko goal, fueled by Nikita Cherepanov and Tom Wandell. Cherepovets tied it in the second period with an unassisted Evgeny Kovyrshin goal. Amur took the lead back on a Vladislav Ushenin goal, with a lone assist by Vyacheslav Ushenin. Severstal retied it in the third period as Evgeny Mons scored, thanks to Ondrej Nemec and Pavel Chernov. Cherepovets took the lead on a Sergei Monakhov goal, guided in by Anatoly Nikontsev and Kovyrshin. This stood for a 3-2 win, with the three stars given to Kovyrshin, Monakhov, and Mons.

Down to Vladivostok, where Admiral welcomes CSKA Moscow. Stanislav Galimov and Ivan Nalimov are given the starting nods. Moscow dented the scoreboard in the third period on an Andrei Svetlakov goal, courtesy of Alexander Radulov and Andrei Kuzmenko. CSKA added on with a Svetlakov goal, his second of the game, passed from Radulov and Nikita Zaitsev. This made it 2-0, the final, with the three stars being Svetlakov, Galimov (26 save shutout), and Radulov.

To the west, Metallurg Novokuznetsk hosts Dinamo Minsk. Kevin Lalande and Andrei Kareyev draw the starts. Novokuznetsk struck first in the first period on a Kirill Kaprizov goal, assisted by Ryan Stoa. Minsk tied it on an Andrei Stepanov goal, via Alexei Kalyuzhny in the second period. Dinamo took the lead on a Dmitry Meleshko goal, coming off of Lukas Krajicek and Dmitry Buinitsky. Metallurg retied it on a Stoa goal, with a lone assist by Cade Fairchild. Minsk took the lead in the third period as Alexander Pavlovich scored, thanks to Paul Szczechura and Nick Bailen. Novokuznetsk tied it again with a Fairchild power play goal, going in unassisted. In the shootout, Stepanov was the only one to find twine, lifting Dinamo to a 4-3 win. The three stars went to Stepanov, Fairchild, and Stoa.

Nearby, Sibir Novosibirsk brings in Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. Mikhail Biryukov and Alexander Salak are the veteran goalies. Novosibirsk led off in the first period on a David Ullstrom power play goal, powered by Calle Ridderwall and Ivan Vereshchagin. Sibir added on in the second period with an Alexei Kopeikin power play goal, courtesy of Vitaly Menshikov and Oleg Gubin. Novosibirsk extended the lead on an unassisted goal from Sergei Shumakov. Nizhny Novgorod got on the board in the third period with a Sergei Kostitsyn shorthanded goal, set up by Maxim Osipov. Sibir iced it at 4-1 on a Ridderwall goal, helped along by Ullstrom and Tomas Vincour. The three stars went to Ullstrom, Salak (27 for 28 in saves), and Ridderwall.

Way out west, Vityaz Podolsk hosts Avangard Omsk. Dominik Furch and Harri Sateri are the masked men. Podolsk started in the first period on an Alexei Makeyev goal, assisted by Mario Kempe and Olli Palola. Omsk tied it on an unassisted Ilya Zubov goal in the second period. Vityaz retook the lead as Makeyev scored again, with the help of Denis Abdullin and Alexander Nikulin. Podolsk added on in the third period with a power play goal from Maxim Afinogenov, powered by Dmitry Shitikov and Roman Horak. The final remained at 3-1, with the three stars handed to Makeyev, Sateri (38 for 39 in saves), and Afinogenov.

Up in Moscow, Dynamo welcomes Barys Astana. Jan Laco and Alexander Lazushin are between the pipes. Moscow opened in the first period on a Mat Robinson goal, made possible by Maxim Pestushko. Astana tied it on a third period goal from Vadim Krasnoslobodtsev, via Talgat Zhailauov. Barys took the lead with a Nigel Dawes goal, fueled by Brandon Bochenski. This made it 2-1, the final, with the three stars being Dawes, Laco (33 for 34 in saves), and Krasnoslobodtsev.

Out to Slovakia, where Slovan Bratislava hosts Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg. Jakub Kovar and Barry Brust tend the twines. Yekaterinburg got going in the second period on an Eero Elo goal, guided in by Alexei Simakov and Nikolai Timashov. Bratislava tied it on a Vaclav Nedorost goal, coming off of Juraj Valach. Avtomobilist took the lead in the third period with a power play goal from Alexei Vasilevsky, powered by Petr Koukal. Slovan tied it on an Andrej Stastny goal, fueled by Ziga Jeglic. Bratislava took the lead on a Milan Bartovic goal, helped along by Cam Barker and Tomas Starosta. Yekaterinburg tied it on an Anatoly Golyshev power play goal, with a lone helper from Tommi Kivisto. In the shootout, Slovan won 4-3 with tallies from Jeglic and Lukas Kaspar. The three stars went to Jeglic, Golyshev, and Bartovic.

Finally, in Croatia, Medvescak Zagreb brings in Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk. Georgy Gelashvili and Danny Taylor are in the creases. Khanty-Mansiysk began in the first period on a Konstantin Panov power play goal, powered by Kirill Rasskazov and Stanislav Kalashnikov. Zagreb tied it on a Nathan Perkovich goal, passed from Geoffrey Kinrade and Mike Glumac. Medvescak took the lead on a Tomislav Zonaski goal, helped along by Shaone Morrisonn. Yugra retied it with a Nikita Gusev goal, made possible by Mikhail Mamkin and Andrei Ivanov. Zagreb regained the lead on a Gilbert Brule goal, via Jesse Saarinen. Khanty-Mansiysk retied it again with a Panov goal, his second of the game, with a lone assist by Rasskazov. Gasper Kroselj relieved Taylor beginning in the second period. Medvescak pulled ahead on a power play goal from Marek Kvapil, courtesy of Milan Jurcina and Radek Smolenak. Yugra tied it once again as Alexei Mikhnov scored, thanks to Kalashnikov and Andrei Taratukhin. Khanty-Mansiysk took the lead with an unassisted Panov goal, completing his hat trick. Zagreb fired back, tying the game with a Kinrade goal, going in unassisted. Yugra regained the lead in the third period on a Taratukhin goal, with a lone assist by Gusev. Medvescak equalized as Smolenak scored, with the help of Kvapil. In the shootout, Khanty-Mansiysk saw a tally by Artyom Bulyansky cancelled out by Zagreb's Smolenak, but Panov proved the hero with the decisive tally for a 7-6 Yugra win. The three stars were awarded to Panov, Gusev, and Kinrade, while Rasskazov, Kalashnikov, Kvapil, Smolenak, and Taratukhin all get honorable mentions.

2015-16 NHL Season - Day 12

Five games going today, beginning with...

The New York Rangers hosting the New Jersey Devils. Cory Schneider and Henrik Lundqvist guard the cages. New York struck first in the first period on a Derek Stepan goal, his third of the season, assisted by Oscar Lindberg. New Jersey tied it in the second period on an Adam Henrique goal, his third of the year, coming off of Mike Cammalleri and Damon Severson. The Devils took the game 2-1 in overtime with a Lee Stempniak goal, passed from Henrique and Andy Greene. The three stars went to Henrique, Stempniak, and Schneider (26 for 27 in saves).

Northwest to Winnipeg, where the Jets welcome the St. Louis Blues. Brian Elliott and Ondrej Pavelec are the veteran goalies. St. Louis got going in the second period on a Vladimir Tarasenko goal, his fourth of the season, assisted by Dmitrij Jaskin and Jori Lehtera. Winnipeg tied it on a Mathieu Perreault power play goal, powered by Blake Wheeler and Bryan Little. The Blues retook the lead on a Scottie Upshall goal, his second of the year, via Jaskin and Joel Edmundson. The Jets retied it as Drew Stafford scored his second of the season, a power play goal, fueled by Nikolaj Ehlers and Mark Scheifele. St. Louis pulled ahead on a third period goal by Tarasenko, his second of the game and fifth of the year, courtesy of Scott Gomez and Carl Gunnarsson. The Blues added on with a Gunnarsson power play goal, made possible by Colton Parayko and David Backes. The final stood at 4-2, with the three stars handed to Tarasenko, Gunnarsson, and Jaskin.

Out in California, the Anaheim Ducks host the Minnesota Wild. Devan Dubnyk and Anton Khudobin are the masked men. Anaheim was first to score in the first period on a Cam Fowler goal, assisted by Ryan Getzlaf and Carl Hagelin. Minnesota tied it on a Nino Niederreiter goal, his second of the season, with a lone assist from Mikko Koivu. The Ducks took the lead back with a Rickard Rakell goal, helped along by Hampus Lindholm and Corey Perry. Anaheim added on in the third period with a Mike Santorelli goal, via Shawn Horcoff and Patrick Maroon. The Ducks extended the lead with an unassisted Lindholm empty net goal. The final was 4-1, with the three stars given to Lindholm, Khudobin (34 for 35 in saves), and Rakell.

North to British Columbia, as the Vancouver Canucks bring in the Edmonton Oilers. Anders Nilsson is mismatched with Ryan Miller in goal. Edmonton led off in the first period on a Nail Yakupov power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Connor McDavid and Mark Letestu. Vancouver tied it on a Matt Bartkowski goal, coming off of Sven Baertschi and Dan Hamhuis. Edmonton won 2-1 in overtime on a Lauri Korpikoski goal, his second of the year, with a lone assist by Andrej Sekera. The three stars belonged to Korpikoski, Nilsson (33 for 34 in saves), and Yakupov.

Finally, the Los Angeles Kings host the Colorado Avalanche. Reto Berra and Jonathan Quick draw the starts in goal. Los Angeles began in the first period on a Marian Gaborik goal, assisted by Dustin Brown and Brayden McNabb. Colorado tied it on a Matt Duchene power play goal in the second period, powered by Carl Soderberg and Jarome Iginla. The Kings took the lead as Tyler Toffoli scored his third of the campaign, going in unassisted. This held up for a 2-1 win, with the three stars being Toffoli, Quick (22 for 23 in saves), and Gaborik.

Major League Soccer Week 33

This week is structured a bit differently, with nine games in an unusual distribution. We begin with...

Orlando City SC hosting New York City FC as one of two Friday games. Josh Saunders and Tally Hall protect the nets. Orlando City's Cristian Higuita took a yellow card for a foul in the thirty-sixth minute. New York City opened in first half stoppage time on a Kwame Watson-Siriboe goal. Orlando City tied it in the sixty-second minute with a Cyle Larin goal, via Corey Ashe. In the sixty-eighth minute, Carlos Rivas of Orlando City took a yellow card for dissent. Orlando City gained the lead on a seventieth minute goal by Larin, set up by Adrian Winter. This made it 2-1, the final, with the man of the match being Larin for his brace.

The other Friday game has the San Jose Earthquakes welcoming Sporting Kansas City. Tim Melia and David Bingham are the inexperienced goalies. San Jose was first to score in the forty-seventh minute on an Anibal Godoy goal, passed from Chris Wondolowski and Shea Salinas. In the sixty-seventh minute, Godoy took a yellow card for his foul for the Earthquakes. Kansas City took a yellow in the sixty-ninth minute for a foul by Amobi Okugo. Sporting had another yellow card for an eighty-second minute Dominic Dwyer foul. The final stood at 1-0 for San Jose, and Godoy was the man of the match for the winner.

Saturday had three games, beginning with Toronto FC bringing in the Columbus Crew SC. Steve Clark and Joe Bendik draw the starts in goal. Columbus had a yellow card go to Federico Higuain in the thirty-first minute for a foul. In the fortieth minute, the Crew started with an Ethan Finlay goal, coming off of Tony Tchani and Higuain. In the forty-second minute, Michael Bradley of Toronto had a yellow card for dissent. Kei Kamara of Columbus received a yellow card for a sixty-third minute foul. Toronto's Benoit Cheyrou took a yellow card for his seventy-third minute foul. In the eighty-fifth minute, Gaston Sauro of the Crew got booked on a yellow card for a foul. In the eighty-seventh minute, Columbus saw a yellow card assessed to Michael Parkhurst for dissent. The Crew capped the win at 2-0 on a Higuain goal in stoppage time, passed from Aaron Schoenfeld. Higuain was the man of the match with a goal and an assist.

Stateside, the New England Revolution host the Montreal Impact. Bobby Shuttleworth and Evan Bush are the gloved men. Montreal's Johan Venegas received a yellow card for an argument in the fifth minute. In the fifty-second minute, Marco Donadel of the Impact took a yellow card for his persistent infringement. Montreal got going on a fifty-fifth minute Ignacio Piatti goal. This stood for a 1-0 win, with the man of the match being Piatti for his winner.

Saturday's last game has Real Salt Lake welcoming FC Dallas. Jesse Gonzalez and Jeff Attinella are the goalies. Salt Lake saw a yellow card for a twenty-sixth minute foul by Tony Beltran. Real's Kyle Beckerman received a yellow card for his fifty-third minute foul. Dallas dented the scoreboard in the fifty-seventh minute with a David Texeira goal, coming off of Mauro Diaz. Salt Lake had a yellow card given to Elias Vazquez in the sixtieth minute for a foul. In the sixty-second minute, Juan Manuel Martinez of Real took a yellow card for a foul. Dallas had a yellow card go to Je-Vaughn Watson in the sixty-sixth minute for a foul. John Stertzer of Salt Lake had a yellow card for an eighty-fifth minute foul. Gonzalez, the Dallas keeper, received a yellow card for time wasting in stoppage time. The final held at 1-0, with the man of the match being Gonzalez for his five-save clean sheet. 

Sunday is the big day this week, with four games, including the first, DC United bringing in the Chicago Fire. Jon Busch and Bill Hamid are in the six-yard boxes. DC struck first in the thirty-ninth minute on a Chris Pontius goal. Chicago's Gilberto took a yellow card for his fiftieth minute foul. United added on in the sixty-seventh minute with a Bobby Boswell goal, assisted by Fabian Espindola. DC extended the lead Espindola scored in the seventy-first minute, with the help of Nick DeLeon. The Fire's David Accam had a yellow card for his seventy-seventh minute foul. United padded the lead on an eightieth minute goal from Alvaro Saborio. The final held at 4-0, with the man of the match being Espindola with his goal and assist.

Along to New Jersey, where the New York Red Bulls host the Philadelphia Union. Andre Blake and Luis Robles receive the starting nods in goal. New York drew first blood early, with a Mike Grella goal in the first minute, the fastest in MLS history. The Red Bulls added on with a fourth minute goal from Bradley Wright-Phillips, assisted by Damien Perrinelle and Sacha Kljestan. New York extended the lead on Grella's second of the game in the seventeenth minute, courtesy of Dax McCarty. Philadelphia had a yellow card go to Steven Vitoria in the forty-first minute for his foul. The Red Bulls padded the lead on a Kemar Lawrence goal in the forty-fourth minute, passed from McCarty and Lloyd Sam. The Union got on the board with a fifty-fifth minute Sebastien Le Toux goal, helped along by Tranquillo Barnetta. This ended the scoring at 4-1, with the man of the match being Grella for his brace.

Down in Houston, the Dynamo welcome the Seattle Sounders FC. Stefan Frei and Tyler Deric guard the woodwork. Seattle's Gonzalo Pineda took a yellow card in the fortieth minute for dissent. Andreas Ivanschitz of the Sounders took a yellow card for his fifty-fifth minute foul. Houston had a yellow card given to Luis Garrido in the sixty-fourth minute for a foul. The Dynamo began in the sixty-fifth minute on a Ricardo Clark goal, via Brad Davis. Seattle's Chad Barrett took a yellow card for a foul in the seventy-first minute. The Sounders tied it in the eighty-second minute with an Obafemi Martins goal, set up by Ivanschitz. This stood for a 1-1 final, with Martins as the man of the match for his equalizer.

Finally, the Los Angeles Galaxy bring in the Portland Timbers. Adam Larsen Kwarasey is opposite former Timber Donovan Ricketts in goal. Los Angeles led off in the thirty-sixth minute with a Robbie Keane goal, coming off of Juninho. Portland tied it on a sixty-fifth minute goal from Fanendo Adi, passed from Lucas Melano and Diego Valeri. In the sixty-seventh minute, Dan Gargan of the Galaxy took a yellow card for his foul, and on the ensuing penalty kick, Adi scored again to give the Timbers the lead. Portland added on in the seventy-fourth minute with a Diego Chara goal, set up by Rodney Wallace and Adi. Los Angeles had a yellow card for a seventy-seventh minute foul from Leonardo. In the eighty-first minute, the Timbers had a yellow card go to Jorge Villafana for his foul. The Galaxy pulled back with an eighty-fourth minute Keane goal, coming off of Jose Villarreal. Portland replied in the eighty-fifth minute on a Darlington Nagbe goal, made possible by Maximiliano Urruti and Villafana. The Timbers extended the lead as Urruti scored in the ninetieth minute, with the help of Villafana. Metallurg Magnitogorsk hosting Traktor Chelyabinsk. Vasilys Demchenko and Koshechkin tend the twines. Chelyabinsk got going in the second period on an Ilya Davydov goal, passed from Filip Novak and Anton Glinkin. Magnitogorsk tied it on a Sergei Mozyakin power play goal, powered by Tomas Filippi. Traktor took the lead back on an Artyom Penkovsky goal, coming off of Stanislav Chistov and Nikita Khlystov. Chelyabinsk added on with an Artyom Borodkin goal in the third period, assisted by Alexander Rybakov on the power play. Metallurg shot back with a Danis Zaripov power play goal, via Mozyakin. Magnitogorsk tied it as Mozyakin scored his second of the game, with the help of Zaripov and Bogdan Potekhin on the power play. Metallurg won 4-3 in overtime on a Zaripov goal, with helpers provided by Mozyakin and Rafael Batyrsin. The three stars went to Mozyakin, Zaripov, and Demchenko (35 for 39 in saves).

Out west, Spartak Moscow welcomes Ak Bars Kazan. Emil Garipov and Atte Engren protect the nets. Kazan struck first in the first period on an Oscar Moller power play goal, courtesy of Mattias Sjogren. Ak Bars added on in the second period on a Mikhail Glukhov goal, via Vasily Tokranov and Fyodor Malykhin. Moscow got on the board with an Alexander Mereskin goal, helped along by Yaroslav Dyblenko. Spartak tied it in the third period as Gleb Klimenko scored a power play goal, powered by Charles Genoway and Lukas Radil. Moscow took the lead on a Konstantin Glazachev power play goal, made possible by Genoway and Klimenko. This stood for a 3-2 win, with the three stars going to Klimenko, Genoway, and Mereskin.

Backtracking to Yaroslavl, where Lokomotiv brings in Jokerit Helsinki. Henrik Karlsson and Alexei Murygin are the masked men. Helsinki dented the scoreboard with a Pekka Jormakka goal in the second period, assisted by Philip Larsen and Tommi Huhtala on the power play. Yaroslavl tied it on a Daniil Apalkov goal, guided in by Patrik Hersley and Ilya Gorokhov. Lokomotiv took the lead in the third period on a Sergei Konkov power play goal, powered by Mikhail Pashnin and Andrei Loktionov. Finally, SKA St. Petersburg hosts Lada Togliatti. Edgars Masalskis and Mikko Koskinen are between the pipes. St. Petersburg was first to score in the first period on an Ilya Kovalchuk power play goal, powered by Vadim Shipachyov. Togliatti tied it on a second period power play goal from Anton Shenfeld, fueled by Tobias Viklund and Anton Krysanov. 2015-16 NHL Season - Day 11

Ten games on tonight, beginning with...

The Montreal Canadiens hosting the Detroit Red Wings. Petr Mrazek and Carey Price receive the starting nods in goal. Detroit got going in the second period with a Dylan Larkin goal, his second of the season, with a lone assist from Henrik Zetterberg. Montreal tied it on a Brendan Gallagher power play goal, going in unassisted. The Canadiens took the lead in the third period on a Jeff Petry power play goal, powered by Alex Galchenyuk and David Desharnais. Montreal added on with a Tomas Plekanec goal, his fifth of the year, assisted by Gallagher. The Canadiens iced it on an unassisted empty net goal from Brian Flynn. The three stars in the 4-1 game were Gallagher, Petry, and Price (21 for 22 in saves).

Over in Ontario, the Ottawa Senators welcome the Nashville Predators. Carter Hutton is mismatched with Craig Anderson in goal. Nashville led off in the first period on a James Neal power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Roman Josi. Ottawa tied it in the second period on a Mark Stone goal, his second of the year, coming off of Kyle Turris and Mike Hoffman. The Senators took the lead as Hoffman scored his second of the season, with the help of Turris and Stone. The Predators tied it again with a Craig Smith goal, his third of the year, with helpers provided by Mike Ribeiro and Mattias Ekholm. Nashville took the lead back on a Neal power play goal in the third period, his second of the game and third of the season, guided in by Josi and Shea Weber. Ottawa tied it on a Hoffman goal, his second of the game and third of the year, made possible by Erik Karlsson and Patrick Wiercioch. The tie lasted to a shootout, where Filip Forsberg and Neal topped Bobby Ryan, allowing the Predators to win 4-3. The three stars were awarded to Neal, Hoffman, and Stone, while Turris and Josi get the honorable mentions.

Down in Pittsburgh, the Penguins bring in the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jonathan Bernier and Marc-Andre Fleury are in the creases. Pittsburgh started in the first period on an Evgeni Malkin goal, his second of the season, going in unassisted. The Penguins added on with an Olli Maatta goal, via Sergei Plotnikov and Rob Scuderi. Toronto got on the board with a Jake Gardiner goal, his second of the year, passed from Nazem Kadri and Michael Grabner. This was it for the scoring, with the final at 2-1. The three stars went to Fleury (26 for 27 in saves), Maatta, and Malkin.

South to Tampa Bay, where the Lightning host the Buffalo Sabres. Chad Johnson and Ben Bishop make the starts in goal. Buffalo struck first on a Sam Reinhart goal, via Tyler Ennis. Tampa Bay tied it on an unassisted Vladislav Namestnikov goal in the second period, his second of the campaign. The Lightning pulled ahead on an Alex Killorn power play goal in the third period, powered by Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat. This stood for a 2-1 win, with the three stars belonging to Bishop (31 for 32 in saves), Killorn, and Namestnikov.

North to DC, where the Washington Capitals welcome the Carolina Hurricanes. Cam Ward and Braden Holtby are between the pipes. Washington was first to score on a T.J. Oshie power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Nicklas Backstrom. The Capitals added on with a Backstrom goal, going in unassisted in the third period. Carolina got on the board with an unassisted Jeff Skinner goal. Washington answered with a John Carlson power play goal, his second of the year, via Backstrom and Oshie. The Capitals finished it at 4-1 with an Alex Ovechkin goal, his third of the campaign, going in unassisted. The three stars went to Backstrom, Oshie, and Holtby (18 for 19 in saves).

Returning to Florida, the Panthers bring in the Dallas Stars. Kari Lehtonen and Roberto Luongo protect the nets. Florida dented the scoreboard in the second period on an Aleksander Barkov goal, his third of the season, courtesy of Jonathan Huberdeau and Jaromir Jagr. The Panthers added on with a Brandon Pirri goal, coming off of Reilly Smith and Alex Petrovic. Dallas got on the board with a Tyler Seguin goal, his second of the year, with a lone assist by Patrick Sharp. The Stars tied it on a Jamie Benn power play goal in the third period, his fourth of the season, powered by Seguin and Jason Spezza. North again, with the New York Islanders hosting the San Jose Sharks. Alex Stalock and Jaroslav Halak man the creases. New York tied it on a Johnny Boychuk goal in the second period, coming off of Ryan Strome and John Tavares. The Sharks retook the lead with a Nikolay Goldobin goal, via Thornton and Braun. The Islanders retied it as Anders Lee scored a power play goal, his second of the year, assisted by Strome and Tavares. San Jose regained the lead on a Joel Ward goal, courtesy of Matt Nieto and the goalie Stalock. New York tied it as Josh Bailey scored his second of the season, thanks to Frans Nielsen and Kyle Okposo. The Islanders pulled ahead in the third period as Okposo scored his second of the year, with the help of Bailey. New York added on with a Brock Nelson goal, his second of the campaign, with assists provided by Mikhail Grabovski and Nikolay Kulemin. The Islanders wrapped it up at 6-3 with an empty net goal from Nielsen, set up by Okposo and Calvin de Haan. The three stars were given to Okposo, Bailey, and Nielsen, while Tavares, Strome, Braun, and Thornton get the honorable mentions.

Along to Chicago, with the Blackhawks welcoming the Columbus Blue Jackets. Curtis McElhinney and Corey Crawford draw the starts. Chicago got started with a second period goal from Artem Anisimov, his second of the season, with a lone assist by Artemi Panarin. The Blackhawks added on with a Teuvo Teravainen power play goal, his second of the year, powered by Trevor Daley and Marian Hossa. Chicago extended the lead with an unassisted Hossa goal in the third period, coming on the power play. Columbus got on the board with a Jack Johnson goal, helped along by David Savard. The Blackhawks iced it at 4-1 with a Patrick Kane empty net goal, his fourth of the campaign, set up by Panarin and Jonathan Toews. Northwest to Alberta, where the Calgary Flames bring in their provincial rivals, the Edmonton Oilers. Cam Talbot and Jonas Hiller guard the cages. Edmonton began in the first period with a Ryan Nugent-Hopkins goal, his second of the season, assisted by Eric Gryba and Taylor Hall. Calgary tied it in the second period on a David Jones goal, his second of the year, courtesy of Dennis Wideman and Micheal Ferland. The Oilers retook the lead on a Connor McDavid goal, his second of the season, fueled by Nail Yakupov. Edmonton added on in the third period with a Hall goal, his second of the year, coming off of Oscar Klefbom and Matt Hendricks. The Oilers extended the lead with a Yakupov goal, via Benoit Pouliot and McDavid. The Flames replied with Jones' second of the game and third of the season, helped along by Wideman on the power play. The Bruins took the lead on a Krejci power play goal, his fourth of the season, powered by Krug and Loui Eriksson. Boston added on with a shorthanded goal by Brad Marchand, set up by Tommy Cross. The Coyotes got one back with a Tobias Rieder power play goal, his third of the year, via Doan and Michael Stone. Arizona tied it on a Kyle Chipchura goal, assisted by Doan and Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Amur added on with a Vitaly Shulakov goal in the second period, going in unassisted. Moscow got on the board with a Dmitry Kugryshev goal, via Roman Lyubimov. CSKA tied it in the third period on an Andrei Svetlakov goal, courtesy of Kirill Vorobyov. Khabarovsk regained the lead on a Shulakov goal, his second of the game, made possible by Artyom Zub and Tomas Zohorna on the power play. The final stood at 3-2, with the three stars being Shulakov, Wandell, and Metsola (30 for 32 in saves).

Down in Vladivostok, Admiral welcomes Severstal Cherepovets. Jakub Stepanek and Igor Bobkov draw the starts in goal. Out in Slovakia, Slovan Bratislava hosts Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk. Vladislav Fokin and Barry Brust are in the blue paint. Patrik Lusnak led off for Bratislava with an unassisted goal. Slovan padded the lead in the second period as Lusnak scored again, thanks to Marek Viedensky and Vladimir Mihalik.
