Up in Detroit, the Red Wings welcome the Winnipeg Jets. Connor Hellebuyck and Jimmy Howard are in the creases. Detroit started in the first period with a Justin Abdelkader goal, his fifth of the season, guided in by Gustav Nyquist and Henrik Zetterberg. The Red Wings added on with a Nyquist goal, his seventh of the year, via Tomas Tatar and Niklas Kronwall. Winnipeg got on the board in the second period with a Patrik Laine power play goal, his fourteenth of the season, powered by Blake Wheeler and Dustin Byfuglien. Detroit answered on a Jonathan Ericsson goal, his second of the year, made possible by Nick Jensen and Nyquist. The Red Wings extended the lead as Darren Helm scored his fourth of the season, an unassisted goal. Colorado tied it on a Nathan MacKinnon power play goal, his ninth of the year, powered by Alexander Kerfoot and Mikko Rantanen. The Sabres retook the lead with a Jake McCabe goal, passed from Pouliot and Johan Larsson.
