Buffalo pulled closer on a Jack Eichel power play goal, his eighteenth of the year, with assists provided by Brandon Montour and Marcus Johansson. The Toronto Maple Leafs hosting the Colorado Avalanche. Philipp Grubauer and Frederik Andersen protect the nets. Colorado got going in the second period with a Nathan MacKinnon power play goal, his eighteenth of the season, powered by Mikko Rantanen and Cale Makar. Toronto tied it on a Zach Hyman goal, his third of the year, fueled by Alexander Kerfoot and Cody Ceci. The Avalanche took the lead in the third period with a Valeri Nichushkin shorthanded goal, his third of the season, going in unassisted. Colorado iced it at 3-1 with a Joonas Donskoi empty net goal, his twelfth of the year, set up by MacKinnon and Matt Calvert. The three stars went to MacKinnon, Grubauer (38 for 39 in saves), and Nichushkin.
Stateside, the Pittsburgh Penguins welcome the St. Louis Blues. Jordan Binnington and Tristan Jarry are in goal.
