Washington led off in the first period with a Lars Eller goal, his twelfth of the season, via Richard Panik. Pittsburgh tied it on a Sam Lafferty goal, his fifth of the year, coming off of Alex Galchenyuk. The Penguins took the lead with a Patric Hornqvist goal, his twelfth of the season, passed from John Marino and Evgeni Malkin. Pittsburgh added on in the second period with a Dominik Simon goal, his seventh of the year, assisted by Sidney Crosby and Jared McCann. The Capitals got one back in the third period with an Evgeny Kuznetsov goal, his eighteenth of the season, made possible by Jakub Vrana and Nick Jensen. The Penguins answered with a Brandon Tanev goal, his eleventh of the year, guided in by Teddy Blueger and Zach Aston-Reese. Washington chipped back on an Eller goal, his thirteenth of the campaign, fueled by Carl Hagelin and Radko Gudas. Carolina tied it in the second period with a Nino Niederreiter goal, his seventh of the year, assisted by Teuvo Teravainen and Jake Gardiner. The Hurricanes took the lead with a Sebastian Aho goal, his twenty-sixth of the season, courtesy of Warren Foegele and Jaccob Slavin. The Canucks tied it on a Tyler Myers goal, his sixth of the year, via Brandon Sutter and Oscar Fantenberg. Carolina pulled ahead with an Andrei Svechnikov goal, his twentieth of the season, coming off of Foegele and Joel Edmundson. Vancouver tied it as Pettersson scored his second of the game and twenty-third of the year, thanks to J.T. Miller and Fantenberg.
