Torpedo took the lead in the third period with a Maxim Potapov goal, fueled by Vladimir Galuzin and Alexei Potapov. This was good for a 2-1 win, with the three stars being Koval (28 for 29 in saves), Maxim Potapov, and Salminen.

Leaving Russia for Latvia, where Dinamo Riga welcomes Vityaz Podolsk. Johan Backlund and Mikael Tellqvist are between the pipes. Riga led off in the first period as Marcel Hossa scored, with the help of Kristaps Sotnieks and Gints Meija. Dinamo added on with a Mat Robinson goal, passed from Aleksandrs Nizivijs and Martins Cipulis. They wouldn't score again, leaving Lev with a 2-1 victory, and the three stars were Vehanen (21 for 22 in saves), Lazushin (31 for 33 in saves) and Kapanen.

Finally, we end with Slovan Bratislava bringing in Ak Bars Kazan. Emil Garipov and Jaroslav Janus protect the nets. Bratislava got going in the second period with a Milan Bartovic goal, assisted by Martin Skoula and Juraj Mikus on the power play. Kazan tied it in the third period with an Alexander Svitov goal, set up by Dmitry Obukhov. Slovan won the game 2-1 in overtime as Bartovic scored again, an unassisted goal. Chelyabinsk, as Traktor hosts Amur Khabarovsk. Mika Jarvinen and Michael Garnett are in the creases. Khabarovsk started in the first period with a Dmitry Tarasov goal, assisted by Dmitry Lugin. Chelyabinsk tied it in the third period with a Petri Kontiola power play goal, powered by Andrei Kostitsyn. The tie went to a shootout, where Traktor's Lauris Darzins scored three times en route to helping his team to a 2-1 victory, after Amur's Jakub Petruzalek scored twice in the skills competition. The three stars were Darzins, Petruzalek, and Garnett (25 for 26 in saves), while Jarvinen (31 for 32 in saves) gets the honorable mention.

Moving into Ufa, as Salavat Yulaev welcomes Sibir Novosibirsk. Sergei Gaiduchenko and Alexei Volkov are the masked men. Ufa was first to score in the first period on a Nikita Filatov goal, coming off of Dmitry Makarov. Novosibirsk tied it on a Jonas Enlund goal, fueled by Jori Lehtera and Vyacheslav Belov. Sibir took the lead in the second period as Belov scored, with a lone assist from Lehtera. Salavat Yulaev retied the game in the third period with an Alexander Stepanov goal, courtesy of Brent Sopel and Alexei Glukhov. Novosibirsk pulled ahead again as Enlund potted an unassisted goal. This held up for a 3-2 Sibir win, with the three stars being Enlund, Belov, and Lehtera.

Next up, Metallurg Magnitogorsk hosts Admiral Vladivostok. Evgeny Ivannikov and Vasily Koshechkin are between the pipes. Vladivostok began with a first period goal by Viktor Drugov, going in unassisted. Magnitogorsk tied it on a Jan Kovar goal, passed from Chris Lee. Metallurg added on as Kovar scored again, with helpers provided by Sergei Mozyakin and Sergei Tereshchenko. Magnitogorsk extended the lead in the second period as Denis Platonov scored, via Cal O'Reilly and Yaroslav Khabarov. Metallurg padded the lead in the third period on an Evgeny Timkin goal, with a lone assist by Mozyakin. They would win by this 4-1 margin, with the three stars being Kovar, Koshechkin (23 for 24 in saves), and Mozyakin.

To the west, Severstal Cherepovets brings in Donbass Donetsk. Michael Leighton and Jakub Stepanek are in the blue paint. Backtracking to Nizhnekamsk, where Neftekhimik hosts Metallurg Novokuznetsk. Ilya Sorokin and Alexander Sudnitsin receive the starting nods. Nizhnekamsk struck first in the first period on a Martin Cibak goal, fueled by Oskar Osala and Yegor Milovzorov. Novokuznetsk tied it on a power play goal by Mikhail Chernov, powered by Tuukka Mantyla. Neftekhimik took the lead in the second period on a Denis Tolpeko power play goal, set up by Mikhail Anisin and Vitaly Shulakov. Metallurg tied it again on an Evgeny Lapenkov power play goal, via Mantyla and Rafael Akhmetov. Nizhnekamsk regained the lead with a Milovzorov goal, coming off of Cibak and Osala. West again to Yaroslavl, with Lokomotiv welcoming Medvescak Zagreb. Mark Dekanich and Vitaly Kolesnik being padded up. Yaroslavl led off in the first period with a power play goal by Jonas Holos, assisted by Yury Patrov and Staffan Kronwall. Zagreb tied it with a power play goal by Kurtis Foster, powered by Bill Thomas and Mathieu Carle. Medvescak took the lead in the third period as Thomas scored, thanks to Carle. Lokomotiv tied it with a power play goal by Alexei Vasilyev, set up by Ilya Gorokhov. Yaroslavl ended up taking the game 3-2 in the shootout with goals from Alexander Chernikov and Daniil Apalkov to topple Zagreb's lone tally by Charles Linglet. The three stars were Thomas, Carle, and Apalkov.

Into St. Petersburg, where SKA hosts Spartak Moscow. Jeff Glass and Alexander Salak tend the twines. Moscow got going with an Alexei Krutov goal, set up by Denis Bodrov. St. Petersburg tied it in the second period with a Maxim Chudinov goal, fueled by Patrick Thoresen and Tony Martensson. SKA took the lead as Ilya Kovalchuk scored, with a lone assist by Viktor Tikhonov. St. Petersburg added on with a Martensson goal, passed from Yury Alexandrov and Roman Cervenka. SKA extended the lead when Kovalchuk scored again, again helped along by Tikhonov. This proved to create the 4-1 final score, with the three stars being Kovalchuk, Martensson, and Tikhonov.

Finally, we end in Mytishchi, with Atlant bringing in Dinamo Minsk. Lars Haugen and Stanislav Galimov guard the cages. Minsk opened in the first period with an Alexei Yefimenko goal, assisted by Dmitry Meleshko and Pavel Chernook. Mytishchi tied it in the second period as Alexander Kadeikin scored an unassisted goal. Atlant took the lead as Kadeikin scored again, with the help of Rafael Batyrshin and Evgeny Artyukhin. Mytishchi added on as Igor Radulov scored a third period goal, via Batyrshin. Dinamo got one back with an unassisted goal by Evgeny Dadonov. They failed to tie the game, losing 3-2, with the three stars being Kadeikin, Batyrshin, and Radulov.

Thursday Night Football Week 3 2013

Tonight's Thursday Night game is a homecoming for Andy Reid, as his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, host his new team, the Kansas City Chiefs. Kansas City led off in the first quarter with a 33 yard field goal by Ryan Succop. The Chiefs added on as Eric Berry intercepted Michael Vick and returned the ball 38 yards for a touchdown, and Succop nailed the extra point. Philadelphia got on the board as Vick tossed a touchdown pass to the right guy, Jason Avant, for 22 yards, but Zach Ertz's scramble for two points went awry. Kansas City replied in the second quarter on a 31 yard field goal by Succop. The Chiefs extended the lead as Succop made a 34 yard field goal. The Eagles got some back in the third quarter as Alex Henery made a 29 yard field goal. Kansas City answered in the fourth quarter with a 3 yard touchdown run by Jamaal Charles, and Succop was true with the PAT. Philadelphia chipped back as LeSean McCoy ran 41 yards for a touchdown, and Henery nailed the extra point. The Chiefs shot back with a 38 yard Succop field goal. This was good for a 26-16 win, and the Chiefs are now 3-0 while dropping the Eagles to 1-2.

KHL Day 16 2013-2014

Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg hosting Avangard Omsk. Teemu Lassila and Jakub Kovar will make the starts. Yekaterinburg got going in the second period with a Fyodor Malykhin goal, passed from Anton Lazarev. Omsk tied it with an unassisted Oleg Kvasha goal. Avtomobilist retook the lead in the third period on an unassisted goal by Malykhin. Yekaterinburg added on when Eduard Lewandowski scored an unassisted goal. Avtomobilist padded the lead with a power play goal by Tobias Viklund, powered by Evgeny Fyodorov and Alexei Simakov. This made it 4-1, the final, with the three stars being Malykhin, Kovar (26 for 27 in saves), and Lewandowski.

Over in Khanty-Mansiysk, Yugra hosts Barys Astana. Ari Ahonen and Mikhail Biryukov protect the nets. Barys added on with an Alexei Litvinenko goal, coming on the power play from Talgat Zhailauov. Astana extended the lead Brandon Bochenski scored a power play goal, powered by Nigel Dawes and Evgeny Blokhin. Khanty-Mansiysk got on the board with an Alexei Pepelyaev power play goal, pushed through by Mikhail Yakubov and Anton Krysanov. Barys replied with a Mikhail Rakhmanov goal, fueled by Artemy Lakiza in the second period. Astana struck again in the third period on a Dustin Boyd goal, with a lone helper from Bochenski on the power play. Barys padded the lead as Boyd put away an unassisted power play goal. Yugra got one back on a Vladimir Gorbunov goal, assisted by Kirill Dyakov and Troncinsky. This was as close as it got, with the final being 6-2 Barys, and the three stars were awarded to Boyd, Bochenski, and Upper.

Exiting Russia and entering Latvia, we have Dinamo Riga hosting Dynamo Moscow. Alexander Lazushin and Mikael Tellqvist are between the pipes. Next up, Dinamo Riga hosts Ak Bars Kazan. Konstantin Barulin and Mikael Tellqvist tend the twines. Kazan began in the first period with a Janne Pesonen goal, fueled by Ilya Nikulin and Kirill Petrov. Ak Bars added on in the second period with a power play goal by Alexander Burmistrov, powered by Tim Stapleton and Mikhail Varnakov. Kazan got another as Shaun Heshka scored a power play goal set up by Stapleton and Evgeny Medvedev. Riga got on the board in the third period on a Paul Szczechura goal, coming off of Gunars Skvorcovs. This made it 3-1, a final, with Barulin (24 for 25 in saves), Stapleton, and Burmistrov.

Finally, in Slovakia, Slovan Bratislava brings in Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. Georgy Gelashvili and Jaroslav Janus guard the cages. Nizhny Novgorod started in the first period as Wojtek Wolski scored, thanks to Tim Brent. Torpedo added on in the second period with a Vadim Krasnoslobodtsev goal, fueled by Pyotr Schastlivy. Nizhny Novgorod extended the lead when Wolski scored again, with the help of Vladimir Denisov and Mikhail Grigoryev. They held on for a 3-0 win, with the three stars belonging to Gelashvili (20 save shutout), Wolski, and Krasnoslobodtsev.

Monday Night Football Week 2

Our Monday night game this week comes from Cincinnati, as the Bengals host the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh started in the first quarter on a 44 yard field goal by Shaun Suisham. Cincinnati took the lead as Giovani Bernard ran 7 yards for a touchdown, and Mike Nugent made the extra point. The Bengals added on in the second quarter as Nugent handled a 41 yard field goal. The Steelers pulled even when Ben Roethlisberger tossed a 1 yard touchdown pass to Derek Moye, and Suisham had the equalizer. Cincinnati took the lead back in the third quarter as Andy Dalton threw a 27 yard touchdown pass to Bernard, and Nugent was there with the PAT. The Bengals padded the lead in the fourth quarter as Nugent kicked a 25 yard field goal. This made it 20-10, a final, with the Bengals now at 1-1 while the Steelers fall to 0-2.
