Hockey on Thanksgiving? One game of course
Today in the Hockey world, a single game was played between the Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers, who took the game 3-2. The goalies for tonight's match were Martin Gerber (Mr. Baby Food) and Peter Budaj (boo!die). In the first period, Gilbert Brule and Andrew Cogliano scored goals very early for Edmonton, with assists by Tom Gilbert on both goals, and Dustin Penner for Brule and Taylor Hall on Cogliano's. Later, Kevin Shattenkirk scored with assists from Milan Hejduk and Matt Duchene to cut the Oilers lead to 2-1 to end the first. The Avalanche also scored the only second period goal, courtesy of Duchene with helpers from Brandon Yip and David Jones on the power play. With the game going 2-2 well into the third until a Taylor Hall game winner with 29 seconds left in regulation. He was assisted by Jordan Eberle and the goalie, Martin Gerber. The Oilers held on for a 3-2 win. Taylor Hall was awarded the first star, with Matt Duchene getting the second and Theo Peckham getting the third with a +2 rating.
