Washington Capitals hosting the Chicago Blackhawks. Corey Crawford and Braden Holtby were in front of the cages. Chicago was first on the board with Nick Leddy sinking his third of the season, courtesy of Marian Hossa and Michael Frolik. Washington answered with Boyd Gordon sending his third of the year home unassisted and shorthanded. The Capitals took the lead on a Jason Arnott power play goal, his 15th of the season powered by Alexander Semin and Dennis Wideman. The Blackhawks retied it in the second period as Tomas Kopecky notched his 13th of the year, an unassisted goal. Washington retook the lead with Brooks Laich netting his 15th of the season, thanks to Matt Hendricks and Eric Fehr. Chicago got another equalizer on the power play with only thirty-nine seconds remaining, as Jonathan Toews was helped by Duncan Keith and Patrick Sharp to get his 29th of the year. The tie was broken in overtime by Mike Knuble, who supplied his 16th of the campaign off of Marcus Johansson and Wideman to give the Capitals the 4-3 victory over the Blackhawks. The three stars were awarded to Knuble, Laich, and Toews.
Into Dallas, Texas, where the Stars host the Los Angeles Kings. Taking control of the goalmouths are Jonathan Quick and Kari Lehtonen. Los Angeles opened the scoring with Drew Doughty on the power play, his eleventh of the season gathering steam off of Jarret Stoll and Alexei Ponikarovsky. The Kings extended their lead with Dustin Penner notching his 23rd of the year, made possible by Anze Kopitar and Justin Williams. Dallas got on the board when Brad Richards registered his 25th of the season, courtesy of Loui Eriksson. The Stars tied it on Jamie Langenbrunner netted his ninth of the campaign, with helpers credited to Alex Goligoski and Jamie Benn with forty-three seconds left in regulation. Los Angeles snuck in a goal with only twenty-one seconds left, the tenth of the year by Michal Handzus, assisted by Ponikarovsky and Wayne Simmonds to solidify a 3-2 victory. The three stars were awarded to Handzus, Richards, and Doughty.
Up north to Pennsylvania, where the Pittsburgh Penguins host the Edmonton Oilers. Devan Dubnyk and Marc-Andre Fleury tended the twines. Pittsburgh was the first on the board with a Chris Kunitz goal, his 19th of the season, with the help of Tyler Kennedy and Jordan Staal. Max Talbot extended the lead for the Penguins with his eighth of the year, assisted by Pascal Dupuis and Ben Lovejoy. Pittsburgh rolled on with Staal's eighth of the season, coming off of Kennedy and Matt Cooke. Edmonton entered the scoring in the third period with Ryan Jones potting his 16th of the year, fueled by Andrew Cogliano and Alexandre Giroux. The Penguins regained this goal with Zbynek Michalek notching his second of the season, helped along by Craig Adams and Talbot. Pittsburgh sealed a 5-1 victory with Kunitz nailing his second goal of the game and 20th of the year, guided in by James Neal and the sock trick completing assist by Kennedy. The three stars went out to Kunitz, Kennedy, and Staal.
Into Buffalo, where the Sabres hosted the Ottawa Senators. Craig Anderson and Jhonas Enroth made the starts. Buffalo was the first on the board with a Tyler Ennis goal, his 16th of the season created from efforts by Tim Connolly and Andrej Sekera. Ottawa tied it when Jason Spezza sank his 14th of the year on the power play from Erik Karlsson and Sergei Gonchar. The Sabres regained the lead with a Thomas Vanek goal from Paul Gaustad and Mike Weber, his 25th of the season. The Senators found another equalizer with Colin Greening potting his second of the year off of Jesse Winchester and Spezza. Ennis gave Buffalo the lead again with his second of the game and 17th of the season, assisted by Connolly and Weber. The Sabres extended their lead with Gaustad's tenth of the year, courtesy of Mark Mancari and Vanek, good enough to have Anderson replaced by Curtis McElhinney. Spezza pulled Ottawa back within a goal by nailing his second of the game and 15th of season, an unassisted tally. Buffalo made it 5-3 with Nathan Gerbe registering his ninth of the year, made possible by a sock trick earning Weber and Jason Pominville. The Sabres kept going with a goal by Brad Boyes, his 16th of the season coming via Pominville and Sekera. Karlsson brought the score to 6-4 for the Senators with his 12th of the year, helped in by Spezza. This was the final, with Ennis, Weber, and Vanek collecting the three stars.
Lastly, the Anaheim Ducks hosted the Phoenix Coyotes. Ilya Bryzgalov and Dan Ellis took control of the cages. Anaheim entered the scoring first with a Corey Perry goal, his 35th of the season from Bobby Ryan and Ryan Getzlaf. Phoenix replied with Taylor Pyatt registering his 17th of the year, an unassisted goal. Lauri Korpikoski put the Coyotes out front with his 16th of the season, assisted by Shane Doan. Perry added an equalizer for the Ducks with his 36th of the campaign and second of the game coming on the power play via Cam Fowler and Lubomir Visnovsky. Korpikoski put Phoenix back in front with his second of the game and 17th of the year, fueled by Doan and Keith Yandle. David Schlemko kept the Coyotes going with his third of the season, guided by Ray Whitney and Radim Vrbata. Phoenix sealed a 5-2 victory with an empty net goal by Doan, his 17th of the year getting help along the way from Adrian Aucoin. Bryzgalov (36 for 38 saves), Perry, and Getzlaf collected the three stars.
