Three games tonight, beginning in...
Pittsburgh, as the Penguins welcome the Florida Panthers. Jacob Markstrom and Marc-Andre Fleury protect the nets. Florida got going in the second period on a Mike Weaver goal, with a lone assist from Brian Campbell. Pittsburgh tied it as Chris Kunitz scored his seventh of the year, a power play goal powered by James Neal and Evgeni Malkin. The Penguins took the lead in the third period on a Matt Niskanen goal, his third of the season, courtesy of Kris Letang. Pittsburgh added on as Dustin Jeffrey scored, via Matt Cooke and Tyler Kennedy. This made it 3-1, a final, with the three stars being Niskanen, Fleury (22 for 23 in saves), and Markstrom (37 for 40 in saves).
Southwest to Nashville, as the Predators host the Vancouver Canucks. Roberto Luongo and Pekka Rinne tend the twines. Vancouver finally began in the third period as Dale Weise scored, with assists provided by Maxim Lapierre and Dan Hamhuis. This was the only goal in the game, making the final 1-0. The three stars went to Luongo (23 save shutout), Weise, and Rinne (23 for 24 in saves).
Finally, we end in Chicago as the Blackhawks bring in the San Jose Sharks. Antti Niemi and Ray Emery are given the starting nods. San Jose led off in the first period as Patrick Marleau scored his eleventh of the season, with the help of Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski. Chicago tied it in the second period on the fourth of the year by Viktor Stalberg, coming off of Patrick Kane and Johnny Oduya. The Blackhawks took the lead in the third period on a shorthanded goal by Brandon Saad, set up by Michal Rozsival and Duncan Keith. They held on for the 2-1 win, with the three stars awarded to Saad, Emery (26 for 27 in saves), and Stalberg. This also marks their seventeenth game in a row without a regulation loss, a new NHL record.
