NHL Day 189 2013-2014

Only three games to begin the last week of the season. We start in...

New Jersey, as the Devils host the Calgary Flames. Karri Ramo is mismatched with Cory Schneider in goal. Calgary dented the scoreboard in the third period on a Mark Giordano goal, his fourteenth of the season, a power play goal powered by Jiri Hudler and Michael Cammalleri. This was all they needed for a 1-0 win, with the three stars being Ramo (31 save shutout), Giordano, and Schneider (21 for 22 in saves).

Northwest to Winnipeg, where the Jets welcome the Minnesota Wild. Ilya Bryzgalov and Michael Hutchinson are in goal. Minnesota got going in the second period on a Charlie Coyle goal, his twelfth of the year, via Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu. They went on to a 1-0 win, with the three stars going to Bryzgalov (24 save shutout), Coyle, and Hutchinson (16 for 17 in saves).

Finally, over in Vancouver, the Canucks bring in the Anaheim Ducks. John Gibson and Eddie Lack are the young goalies. Anaheim began in the first period with a shorthanded Daniel Winnik goal, his sixth of the season, going in unassisted. The Ducks added on in the second period with a Kyle Palmieri goal, his fourteenth of the year, guided in by Ben Lovejoy and Bryan Allen. Anaheim extended the lead in the third period on a Matt Beleskey goal, his seventh of the season, assisted by Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf. This was good for a 3-0 win, with the three stars going to Gibson (18 save shutout), Winnik, and Palmieri.
