The Dynamo took two yellow cards in the eighty-second minute, for a foul by Davis and a handball by Deric, followed by an eighty-fifth minute foul putting a yellow card to A.J. Cochran's name. The Fire took the lead in stoppage time with a goal by Florent Sinama-Pongolle. This made it 2-1, the final, with the man of the match being Johnson for his eight-save performance.
Saturday's first game was also the weekend's most important, as the Seattle Sounders FC welcomed the Los Angeles Galaxy to a battle for the Supporters' Shield.
