2015/16 KHL Season - Day 59

Just four games on today, beginning with...

Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk hosting Spartak Moscow. Atte Engren and Georgy Gelashvili man the nets. Moscow led off in the first period on a Konstantin Glazachev power play goal, powered by Charles Genoway and Lukas Radil. Spartak added on with a Sergei Shmelyov goal, passed from Evgeny Bodrov and Nikita Li. Khanty-Mansiysk got on the board with a second period power play goal by Igor Bortnikov, via Kirill Rasskazov and Andrei Antonov. Moscow shot back on a Radil goal, fueled by Glazachev. Spartak extended the lead as Igor Levitsky scored a power play goal in the third period, thanks to Bodrov and Shmelyov. Moscow padded the lead on an Andrei Yermakov power play goal, made possible by Dmitry Korobov and Shmelyov. Yugra got one back with a power play goal by Pavel Varfolomeyev, with a lone assist by Andrei Ivanov. This made it 5-2, the final, with the three stars being Shmelyov, Radil, and Glazachev, while Bodrov gets an honorable mention.

Along to Salavat Yulaev Ufa welcoming Dinamo Riga. Jakub Sedlacek and Vladimir Sokhatsky are the backups in goal. Ufa struck first in the second period with a Nikolai Prokhorkin power play goal, powered by Sami Lepisto and Igor Grigorenko. Salavat Yulaev added on in the third period as Grigorenko scored, thanks to Lepisto and Prokhorkin. Ufa extended the lead with a power play goal from Alexander Loginov, assisted by Teemu Hartikainen and Dmitry Makarov. Riga got on the board with an Andris Dzerins goal, passed from Kristaps Sotnieks and Gints Meija. The final held at 3-1, with the three stars given to Grigorenko, Prokhorkin, and Sokhatsky (23 for 24 in saves), while Lepisto gets an honorable mention.

Down to Magnitogorsk, where Metallurg brings in Jokerit Helsinki. Henrik Karlsson and Vasily Koshechkin protect the nets. Magnitogorsk began in the first period with an Artyom Zhelezkov goal, via Dmitry Arsenyuk. Helsinki tied it on a Juhamatti Aaltonen goal, coming off of Arturs Kulda and Mathis Olimb in the second period. Jokerit took the lead with a Tommi Huhtala goal, courtesy of Topi Jaakola and Olimb on the power play. Helsinki added on with an unassisted Olimb power play goal in the third period. Metallurg got one back with a Jan Kovar goal, assisted by Yaroslav Khabarov and Bogdan Potekhin. The final remained at 3-2, with the three stars given to Olimb, Huhtala, and Aaltonen.

Finally, Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg hosts SKA St. Petersburg. Mikko Koskinen and Igor Ustinsky man the nets. Yekaterinburg was first to score in the first period on an Eero Elo goal, via Alexei Simakov and Dmitry Megalinsky on the power play. Avtomobilist added on with a Simakov goal, with a lone assist by Anatoly Golyshev. St. Petersburg got on the board with an Andrei Kuteikin power play goal, powered by Ilya Kovalchuk and Nikita Gusev. SKA tied it on a Vadim Shipachyov power play goal, guided in by Evgeny Dadonov and Gusev. Yekaterinburg retook the lead on a second period goal from Nikolai Timashov, passed from Petr Koukal and Yegor Dubrovsky on the power play. Avtomobilist iced it at 4-2 in the third period with a Simakov empty net power play goal, set up by Yegor Zhuravlyov and Koukal. The three stars belonged to Simakov, Koukal, and Gusev.
