KHL 2016/17 - Day 145

Only five games on today, beginning with...

Admiral Vladivostok hosting Slovan Bratislava. Barry Brust and Igor Bobkov man the nets. Vladivostok opened in the first period with an Andrei Sigaryov goal, guided in by James Wright and Shaone Morrisonn. Admiral added on with a Dmitry Sayustov goal, via Mikhail Fisenko and Ivan Gavrilenko. Bratislava got on the board with an Andrej Stastny goal, assisted by Ziga Jeglic and Kyle Chipchura in the second period. This only made it 2-1, the final, with the three stars given to Sayustov, Bobkov (22 for 23 in saves), and Sigaryov.

In China, Kunlun Red Star Beijing welcomes Medvescak Zagreb. Michael Garnett and Tomi Karhunen are given the starting nods in goal. Beijing started in the first period with a Linus Videll goal, made possible by Sean Collins. Kunlun Red Star added on with a Max Warn power play goal, powered by Alexei Ponikarovsky and Brett Bellemore. Beijing extended the lead as Ponikarovsky scored, thanks to Videll. Kunlun Red Star padded the lead in the third period on a Tomi Sallinen power play goal, with assists provided by Martin Bakos and Janne Jalasvaara. Beijing iced it at 5-0 with a Collins goal, coming off of Videll and Zach Yuen. The three stars went to Videll, Ponikarovsky, and Collins, while Karhunen (24 save shutout) receives an honorable mention.

Out west, Dinamo Minsk hosts Barys Astana. Henrik Karlsson and Ben Scrivens are the former NHL goalies in net today. Minsk led off in the first period with an Alexander Pavlovich goal, passed from Alexander Materukhin and Andrei Stepanov. Dinamo added on in the second period with a Nikita Mitskevich goal, assisted by Stepanov and Evgeny Kovyrshin. Astana got on the board with a Brandon Bochenski power play goal, powered by Nigel Dawes and Kevin Dallman. This made it 2-1, the final, with the three stars being Stepanov, Mitskevich, and Scrivens (24 for 25 in saves).

Up in Helsinki, Jokerit brings in Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk. Georgy Boyarshinov and Ryan Zapolski draw the starts in goal. Khanty-Mansiysk got on the board in the first period with a Nikita Dvurechensky goal, fueled by Alexander Akmaldinov and Yegor Ivanov. Helsinki tied it on a Peter Regin goal, made possible by Charles Genoway and Brian O'Neill. Ugra took the lead on an Andrei Ankudinov goal, via Kirill Belyayev and Oleg Pogorishny. Jokerit tied it again with an unassisted Pekka Jormakka goal. Helsinki took the lead with a Masi Marjamaki goal, helped along by Roope Talaja and Oliver Lauridsen. Jokerit added on with a Jormakka power play goal, powered by Jesse Joensuu and O'Neill. Vladislav Fokin replaced Boyarshinov in goal. Khanty-Mansiysk replied with a Pavel Varfolomeyev goal, courtesy of Sergei Kuptsov and Evgeny Lapenkov. Helsinki shot back with a Ville Lajunen power play goal, assisted by Topi Jaakola and Regin. Ugra pulled back with an Akmaldinov goal, made possible by Anton Kuryanov. Khanty-Mansiysk tied it with a Lapenkov power play goal, guided in by Varfolomeyev. Jokerit won 6-5 with Jormakka finishing his hat trick, with the help of Jesper Jensen and O'Neill, who got a sock trick, on a power play goal. The three stars were Jormakka, O'Neill, and Regin, while Varfolomeyev, Lapenkov, and Akmaldinov get the honorable mentions.

Finally, Dinamo Riga hosts Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg. Vladimir Sokhatsky and Jakub Sedlacek are in the blue paint. Riga began with a Maris Bicevskis goal, assisted by Miks Indrasis. Dinamo added on with an Edgars Kulda goal, courtesy of Georgs Golovkovs. Yekaterinburg got on the board with a Michal Cajkovsky power play goal in the second period, powered by Alexei Vasilevsky. Riga replied with a Filipp Toluzakov goal in the third period, via Indrasis and Guntis Galvins. Avtomobilist answered with a Rok Ticar goal, coming off of Anatoly Golyshev and Cajkovsky. Yekaterinburg tied it with a Petr Koukal goal, with a lone assist by Evgeny Chesalin. Dinamo win 4-3 in overtime with an Indrasis goal, made possible by Galvins and Lauris Darzins. The three stars belonged to Indrasis, Galvins, and Cajkovsky.
