NWSL Midweek - July 24, 2019

Two Wednesday night games begin on the east coast with...

Sky Blue FC hosting the Washington Spirit. Aubrey Bledsoe and Kailen Sheridan are the young keepers. In the 50th minute, Julie James Doyle of Sky Blue took a yellow card for a foul. Washington got going in the 54th minute with an Ashley Hatch goal. The Spirit's Tori Huster received a yellow card for time wasting in stoppage time. The final was 1-0, with the woman of the match being Hatch.

Out west, the Portland Thorns FC host the Houston Dash. Jane Campbell and Adrianna Franch protect the nets. Portland led off in the 7th minute with a Lindsey Horan goal, assisted by Tobin Heath. The Thorns added on in the 12th minute with a Hayley Raso goal, coming off of Heath. Portland extended the lead as Christine Sinclair converted a penalty kick goal in the 18th minute. The Thorns padded the lead in the 23rd minute as Raso scored again, thanks to Midge Purce. In the 70th minute, Allysha Chapman of Houston took a yellow card for a foul. Portland continued in the 71st minute on an own goal by Dash keeper Campbell. The final remained at 5-0, with Heath as the woman of the match.
