The Washington Capitals hosting the Buffalo Sabres. Linus Ullmark and Braden Holtby are in goal. Washington began with a Jakub Vrana goal, his fifth of the season, with a lone assist by Tom Wilson. The Capitals added on with a Chandler Stephenson goal, his second of the year, guided in by Travis Boyd and Brendan Leipsic. Washington extended the lead as Vrana scored his second of the game and sixth of the season, thanks to Michal Kempny and Wilson. The Capitals padded the lead on a Leipsic goal, helped along by Boyd and Radko Gudas. Buffalo got on the board with a Henri Jokiharju goal, courtesy of Rasmus Dahlin and Evan Rodrigues. Washington replied with a Wilson goal, his fifth of the year, passed from Kempny. The Capitals struck again with a T.J. Oshie goal in the third period, his eighth of the campaign, fueled by Kempny and Alex Ovechkin. This made it 6-1, te final, with the three stars going to Vrana, Wilson, and Kempny, while Boyd and Leipsic get the honorable mentions.
Along to New York, as the Islanders welcome the Tampa Bay Lightning. Andrei Vasilevskiy and Thomas Greiss are the masked men. New York got going in the second period with a Mathew Barzal goal, his sixth of the season, assisted by Nick Leddy. Tampa Bay tied it with a Yanni Gourde goal, his second of the year, made possible by Kevin Shattenkirk. The Islanders retook the lead with a Ryan Pulock goal, his second of the season, coming off of Derick Brassard and Anthony Beauvillier. New York added on in the third period with a Josh Bailey goal, his fifth of the year, passed from Barzal and Anders Lee. The Islanders extended the lead as Lee scored his fifth of the season, thanks to Johnny Boychuk. The Lightning got one back with a Ryan McDonagh goal, courtesy of Steven Stamkos and Ondrej Palat. New York iced it at 5-2 with a Brassard empty net goal, his fourth of the year, set up by Lee and Bailey. The three stars were Lee, Bailey, and Barzal, while Brassard gets an honorable mention.
Nearby, the New Jersey Devils host the Philadelphia Flyers. Carter Hart and MacKenzie Blackwood are the young goalies. New Jersey led off in the first period with a Wayne Simmonds power play goal, powered by Jack Hughes and Kyle Palmieri. Philadelphia tied it on an Oskar Lindblom goal, his seventh of the season, via Sean Couturier and Travis Konecny. The Flyers took the lead in the second period on a Couturier goal, his third of the year, guided in by Konecny and Lindblom. The Devils retied it on a Sami Vatanen power play goal, his fourth of the season, with assists provided by Nico Hischier and Taylor Hall. New Jersey took the lead in the third period with a Hall goal, his second of the year, passed from Andy Greene and Palmieri. Philadelphia retied it on a Joel Farabee goal, courtesy of Michael Raffl and Ivan Provorov. The tie went to a shootout, where Couturier had the lone tally for a 4-3 Flyers win. The three stars were Couturier, Hall, and Lindblom, while Palmieri gets an honorable mention.
Down in Raleigh, the Carolina Hurricanes bring in the Detroit Red Wings. Jimmy Howard and Petr Mrazek patrol the creases. Carolina started in the first period with an Andrei Svechnikov goal, his sixth of the season, coming off of Jaccob Slavin and Dougie Hamilton. Detroit tied it on an Anthony Mantha goal, his eighth of the year, via Andreas Athanasiou and Joe Hicketts. The Hurricanes retook the lead with a Sebastian Aho goal in the second period, his fourth of the season, assisted by Warren Foegele and Slavin. Carolina added on with a Nino Niederreiter power play goal, his second of the year, powered by Aho and Jake Gardiner. The Red Wings got one back with a Mantha power play goal, his second of the game and ninth of the season, with assists provided by Athanasiou and Valtteri Filppula. The Hurricanes shot back on a Martin Necas goal, his third of the year, passed from Ryan Dzingel. Carolina extended the lead as Aho scored again, his second of the game and fifth of the year, thanks to Hamilton. Jonathan Bernier replaced Howard in goal. Detroit pulled one back with a Tyler Bertuzzi goal, his sixth of the season, helped along by Dylan Larkin and Patrik Nemeth. Carolina countered in the third period with a shorthanded Brock McGinn goal, set up by Hamilton. The Hurricanes iced it at 7-3 with a Teuvo Teravainen empty net goal, his third of the year, with a lone assist by Slavin. The three stars were handed to Aho, Svechnikov, and Hamilton, while Slavin, Mantha, and Athanasiou get the honorable mentions.
West to St. Louis, as the Blues host the Columbus Blue Jackets. Elvis Merzlikins is mismatched with Jordan Binnington in goal. St. Louis opened in the first period on a Robert Thomas goal, his second of the season, fueled by Tyler Bozak and Zach Sanford. Columbus tied it with a Pierre-Luc Dubois goal, his sixth of the year, assisted by Gustav Nyquist and Cam Atkinson. The Blue Jackets took the lead with a Sonny Milano goal in the second period, his third of the season, guided in by Scott Harrington and Oliver Bjorkstrand. Columbus added on with a Bjorkstrand power play goal, his third of the year, powered by Dubois and Alexander Wennberg. The Blues got one back with a Brayden Schenn power play goal, his tenth of the season, helped along by David Perron and Jaden Schwartz. St. Louis tied it on an Oskar Sundqvist goal, his third of the year, with helpers from Ivan Barbashev and MacKenzie MacEachern. The Blues won 4-3 in overtime with a Perron power play goal, his seventh of the campaign, with assists provided by Alex Pietrangelo and Ryan O'Reilly. The three stars were Perron, Sundqvist, and Dubois, while Bjorkstrand gets an honorable mention.
Further to the west, the Colorado Avalanche welcome the Dallas Stars. Anton Khudobin and Philipp Grubauer are in the blue paint. Dallas struck first in the first period with a Roope Hintz goal, his eighth of the season, via Denis Gurianov and Joe Pavelski. The Stars added on in the second period with a Hintz shorthanded goal, his second of the game and ninth of the year, set up by Mattias Janmark. Colorado got on the board with a Nathan MacKinnon power play goal, his eighth of the season, powered by Cale Makar and Nazem Kadri. The final stayed at 2-1, with the three stars awarded to Hintz, Khudobin (38 for 39 in saves), and MacKinnon.
In California, the Anaheim Ducks host the Vancouver Canucks. Jacob Markstrom and John Gibson protect the nets. Anaheim kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Jakob Silfverberg shorthanded goal, his seventh of the season, set up by Rickard Rakell and Korbinian Holzer. Vancouver tied it in the third period on an Adam Gaudette goal, via Brandon Sutter and Tanner Pearson. The Ducks won 2-1 in overtime with a Ryan Getzlaf goal, his seventh of the year, assisted by Troy Terry and the goalie Gibson. The three stars were Gibson (39 for 40 in saves), Getzlaf, and Silfverberg.
Finally, the San Jose Sharks bring in the Winnipeg Jets. Connor Hellebuyck and Martin Jones are between the pipes. Winnipeg drew first blood in the first period with a Gabriel Bourque goal, coming off of Kyle Connor. San Jose tied it in the second period with a Barclay Goodrow goal, his fourth of the season, assisted by Jonny Brodzinski and Marc-Edouard Vlasic. The Jets retook the lead with a Blake Wheeler goal, his fifth of the year, guided in by Mark Scheifele and Connor. The Sharks retied it in the third period with a Tomas Hertl goal, his fourth of the season, fueled by Evander Kane and Kevin Labanc. Winnipeg reclaimed the lead with a Nikolaj Ehlers goal, his seventh of the year, with helpers from Jack Roslovic and Bryan Little. This made it 3-2, the final, with the three stars being Hellebuyck (51 for 53 in saves), Connor, and Ehlers.
