The New Jersey Devils welcoming the Montreal Canadiens. Sam Montembeault and Nico Daws are the goalies. Montreal began in the first period with a Juraj Slafkovsky goal, his sixth of the season, made possible by Cole Caufield. The Canadiens added on in the second period with a Joshua Roy goal, via Sean Monahan and Joel Armia. New Jersey got on the board in the third period with a Luke Hughes power play goal, his eighth of the year, powered by Nico Hischier and Timo Meier. The Devils tied it on an Alexander Holtz power play goal, his eleventh of the season, with assists provided by Simon Nemec and Dawson Mercer. Montreal retook the lead with a Caufield goal, his fourteenth of the year, passed from Monahan and Jordan Harris. The final was 3-2, with the three stars going to Caufield, Monahan, and Montembeault (28 for 30 in saves).
Down in Florida, the Panthers bring in the Detroit Red Wings. Alex Lyon and Sergei Bobrovsky are the former teammates in goal. Florida got going in the second period with a Sam Reinhart shorthanded goal, his thirty-third of the season, set up by Anton Lundell and Dmitry Kulikov. Detroit tied it on a Michael Rasmussen goal, his tenth of the year, courtesy of Olli Maatta and Andrew Copp. The Panthers took the lead with a Gustav Forsling goal, his sixth of the season, coming off of Sam Bennett. The Red Wings tied it again in the third period with a Robby Fabbri goal, his thirteenth of the year, guided in by Rasmussen and Maatta. Detroit won 3-2 in overtime with a Dylan Larkin power play goal, his eighteenth of the campaign, fueled by Shayne Gostisbehere and David Perron. The three stars were Rasmussen, Maatta, and Larkin.
