Only a handful of days left, and today there are just seven games on as one Chicago team made their game up while the other suffered a long rain delay. The first is the makeup game in...
Chicago, as the White Sox host the Detroit Tigers. Doug Fister and Jose Quintana are the inconsistent pitchers. Detroit got going in the third inning as Austin Jacksin singled in Avisail Garcia and Delmon Young singled both Gerald Laird and Jackson across the dish. Chicago pulled back in the fourth inning when Gordon Beckham was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in Alex Rios, followed by a 2-RBI Dewayne Wise single, scoring both A.J. Pierzynski and Dayan Viciedo. The Tigers took the lead back in the fifth inning as Young singled to knock in Miguel Cabrera. The White Sox edged ahead in the bottom of the fifth as Viciedo grounded into a fielder's choice that allowed Adam Dunn to come home, and also Paul Konerko after an error. The scoring stopped here at 5-4. Nate Jones was in line for the win, Addison Reed shut the door for a save, and Fister was handed the loss.
Down in Florida, the Tampa Bay Rays host the Boston Red Sox. Aaron Cook and Alex Cobb draw the starts. Tampa Bay began in the fifth inning with Ryan Roberts reaching on a fielder's choice to get Luke Scott home. Boston took the lead in the sixth inning with a two-run Jacoby Ellsbury home run, also scoring Jose Iglesias. The Red Sox added on in the seventh inning as Mauro Gomez singled both James Loney and Jarrod Saltalamacchia in, followed by Ellsbury doing the same for Ryan Lavarnway. The Rays tried a ninth inning rally on a Ben Zobrist groundout that allowed B.J. Upton to score, but they got no closer and fell 5-2. Cook picked up the win and Cobb was stuck with the loss.
Staying in the state, the Miami Marlins host the Atlanta Braves. Tim Hudson and Wade LeBlanc are sent out to pitch. Atlanta opened in the first inning with Martin Prado singling to knock in Jason Heyward, followed by a three-run home run by Dan Uggla, sweeping in Freddie Freeman and Prado. The Braves added on in the fourth inning as Jeff Baker singled to plate Uggla and Hudson grounded out to provide time for David Ross to dash home. Miami got on the board in the bottom of the fourth as Rob Brantly singled to drive in Justin Ruggiano, followed by Bryan Petersen tripling to force in both Donovan Solano and Brantly before being pushing in by a Gorkys Hernandez triple. The Marlins pulled closer in the seventh inning as Carlos Lee singled home Jose Reyes. Atlanta extended the lead in the eighth inning when Prado singled, scoring Heyward. This made it 7-5, the final, with Hudson picking up the win, Craig Kimbrel tossing the save, and LeBlanc was dealt the loss.

Philadelphia started in the first inning as Chase Utley hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Jimmy Rollins. The Phillies added on in the fifth inning as Rollins hit a solo home run. New York got on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Daniel Murphy singled to plate Mike Nickeas. Philadelphia replied in the seventh inning as Domonic Brown hit a solo shot. This was it for the scoring, with the final being 3-1, giving the win to Lee, the save was turned by Jonathan Papelbon as his thirty-fifth of the year, and Dickey was pinned with the loss.

San Francisco began in the third inning as Brandon Crawford scored on a passed ball. Colorado tied it in the fifth inning as Josh Rutledge tripled to force in the pitcher Chacin. The Giants took the lead back in the sixth inning on a Hunter Pence single to drive in Pablo Sandoval. This stood for a 2-1 final, with the win belonging to Bumgarner, the save iced off by Sergio Romo, and Guillermo Moscoso was dealt the loss.

Monday Night Game Week 2 2012
Tonight's game comes from Atlanta, as the Falcons host the Denver Broncos. Atlanta started in the first quarter as Michael Turner ran 1 yard for a touchdown and Matt Bryant made the extra point. The Falcons added on as Bryant made a field goal of 37 yards. Atlanta extended the lead in the second quarter when Bryant nailed a 42 yard field goal. The Falcons kept going as Matt Ryan tossed a 1 yard touchdown pass to Tony Gonzalez, and Bryant was there with the PAT. Denver got on the board when Peyton Manning found Demaryius Thomas for a 17 yard touchdown connection, allowing Matt Prater to make the extra point. Atlanta shot back in the third quarter as Ryan hooked up with Roddy White on a 4 yard touchdown pass, and Bryant supplied the extra point. The Broncos answered in the fourth quarter as Willis McGehee ran 2 yards for a touchdown, and Prater converted the extra point. Denver pulled closer on another 2 yard touchdown rush by McGehee, and Prater again booted the extra point. They couldn't tie it, losing 27-21, leaving Atlanta at 2-0 while the Broncos fell to 1-1.

NFL Week 2 Afternoon/Night Games 2012

The St. Louis Rams hosting the Washington Redskins. Washington led off in the first quarter as Josh Wilson recovered a fumble and took it 30 yards for a touchdown, with Billy Cundiff supplying the extra point. St. Louis got on the board as Greg Zuerlein kicked a 39 yard field goal. The Redskins added on as Robert Griffin III ran 5 yards for a touchdown, and Cundiff made another extra point. The Rams shot back in the second quarter as Zuerlein kicked a 33 yard field goal. Washington padded the lead as Griffin tossed a 68 yard touchdown to Leonard Hankerson, and Cundiff kicked another extra point. St. Louis chipped away as Sam Bradford tossed a 1 yard touchdown pass to Danny Amendola, and Zuerlein made the extra point. The Rams got closer as Zuerlein kicked a 42 yard field goal. St. Louis took the lead in the third quarter on a Bradford touchdown pass of 34 yards to Brandon Gibson, and Zuerlein knocked in the PAT. The 49ers shot back with a 48 yard field goal by Akers in the fourth quarter. The Lions matched with Hanson kicking a field goal of 48 yards. San Francisco padded the lead as Smith and Davis hooked up for another touchdown, this time a 23 yard connection, and Akers finished it off with an extra point. New York got going in the third inning as Derek Jeter singled home Eduardo Nunez, before scoring on a single by Alex Rodriguez, and then Russell Martin hit a three-run home run, sweeping in Rodriguez and Robinson Cano. Tampa Bay got on the board in the fourth inning on a Ben Zobrist solo home run. The Yankees shot back in their half of the inning on a Rodriguez sacrifice fly to knock in Nunez. The Rays clawed back in the sixth inning when Evan Longoria singled both Jose Lobaton and Desmond Jennings across the dish, followed by Matt Joyce grounding into a double play that got Zobrist home safely. They got no closer, losing 6-4, with the win going to Kuroda, the save tossed by Rafael Soriano as his fortieth of the season, and Moore was on the hook for the loss.
Up in Toronto, the Blue Jays host the Boston Red Sox. Jon Lester and Brandon Morrow are the inconsistent pitchers.
