KHL 2016/17 - Day 57

Five games for today, beginning with...

Sibir Novosibirsk hosting SKA St. Petersburg. Mikko Koskinen and Alexei Krasikov are the goalies. Novosibirsk got going in the second period on a Joonas Kemppainen goal, assisted by Adam Polasek. St. Petersburg tied it on a Nikolai Prokhorkin shorthanded goal, set up by Yegor Yakovlev and Alexander Barabanov. SKA won 2-1 in overtime on a Barabanov goal, passed from Patrik Hersley and Yakovlev. The three stars went to Barabanov, Yakovlev, and Koskinen (27 for 28 in saves).

Over in Novokuznetsk, Metallurg welcomes Severstal Cherepovets. Jakub Kovar and Andrei Kareyev draw the starts in goal. Cherepovets opened in the first period with a Ruslan Karlin goal, via Evgeny Mons. Novokuznetsk tied it on an Evgeny Solovyov power play goal, powered by Ignat Zemchenko and Alexander Komaristy. Severstal took the lead back on a second period own goal from Metallurg, credited as an empty net goal for Alexander Avtsin, who went to the penalty box like Troy Brouwer did over the weekend in a similar NHL event. This proved to be the winner for Severstal by a 2-1 score, with the three stars going to Kovar (33 for 34 in saves), Karlin, and Kareyev (17 for 18 in saves).

West to Yekaterinburg, where Avtomobilist hosts Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Alexander Sudnitsin and Igor Ustinsky are in the creases. Yekaterinburg started in the first period on an Alexander Torchenyuk power play goal, powered by Evgeny Chesalin. Yaroslavl tied it on a Maxime Talbot power play goal, coming off of Pavel Koledov and Staffan Kronwall. Lokomotiv took the lead with a Brandon Kozun power play goal, with a lone assist by Koledov. Avtomobilist retied it on a Jan Buchtele power play goal in the second period, made possible by Torchenyuk and Pavel Turbin. Yaroslavl regained the lead with a Stanislav Chistov goal, helped along by Pavel Kraskovsky and Yegor Korshkov. Lokomotiv added on in the third period with an Andrei Loktionov goal, assisted by Chistov. Yaroslavl extended the lead as Loktionov scored again, thanks to Chistov and Rushan Rafikov. Yekaterinburg got one back on a Rok Ticar goal, passed from Yegor Zhuravlyov and Alexei Simakov. Lokomotiv iced it at 6-3 with a Kozun empty net goal, set up by Talbot. The three stars went to Loktionov, Chistov, and Kozun, while Talbot, Koledov, and Torchenyuk get the honorable mentions.

Down in Kazakhstan, Barys Astana brings in Dynamo Moscow. Alexander Lazushin and Henrik Karlsson man the nets. Astana led off in the first period with a Kevin Dallman goal, fueled by Nigel Dawes. This held up for the rest of the game for a 1-0 Barys win, with the three stars awarded to Karlsson (35 save shutout), Dallman, and Lazushin (26 for 27 in saves).

Finally, Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk hosts Vityaz Podolsk. Harri Sateri and Alexander Sharychenkov are the masked men. Podolsk dented the scoreboard in the second period on a Jakub Jerabek power play goal, powered by Miro Aaltonen. Khanty-Mansiysk tied it on a Pavel Varfolomeyev power play goal, helped along by Evgeny Lapenkov. Vityaz took the lead back on a Nikita Vyglazov goal, courtesy of Maxim Afinogenov and Roman Horak. This stood for a 2-1 win, with the three stars given to Vyglazov, Sateri (24 for 25 in saves), and Jerabek.

NHL 2016/17 - Day 6

Four games on for today, beginning with...

The New York Rangers hosting the San Jose Sharks. Martin Jones and Antti Raanta man the nets. New York led off in the first period with a Marc Staal goal, assisted by Derek Stepan and Mats Zuccarello. San Jose tied it on a Logan Couture power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton. The Rangers took the lead back in the second period with a Rick Nash goal, guided in by Ryan McDonagh and Chris Kreider. New York added on with a Kreider power play goal, his third of the year, with assists provided by McDonagh and the goalie Raanta. The Sharks answered in the third period with a Brent Burns goal, his second of the season, coming off of Pavelski and Paul Martin. The Rangers shot back with a Kevin Hayes goal, courtesy of Jesper Fast and J.T. Miller. New York extended the lead as Jimmy Vesey scored, thanks to Stepan and Zuccarello. San Jose replied with Burns' second of the game and third of the year, with a lone helper by Pavelski, who earned a sock trick. The Sharks got closer with a Pavelski goal, made possible by Burns and Tomas Hertl. The Rangers countered on a Zuccarello empty net goal, his second of the season, going in unassisted. New York iced it at 7-4 with a Michael Grabner empty net goal, his second of the year, an unassisted goal. The three stars went to Zuccarello, Burns, and Pavelski, while Kreider, Stepan, and McDonagh get the honorable mentions.

In Pittsburgh, the Penguins welcome the Colorado Avalanche. Calvin Pickard is mismatched with Marc-Andre Fleury in goal. Pittsburgh began in the first period with a Phil Kessel goal, his second of the season, a power play goal made possible by Kris Letang and Nick Bonino. The Penguins added on with a Matt Cullen goal, guided in by Chris Kunitz and Conor Sheary. Colorado got on the board with a Jarome Iginla power play goal, powered by Nathan MacKinnon and Tyson Barrie. The Avalanche tied it on a Patrick Wiercioch goal, passed from Rene Bourque and Fedor Tyutin. Pittsburgh retook the lead in the third period with a Trevor Daley power play goal, assisted by Cullen and Justin Schultz. Colorado tied it again as Gabriel Landeskog scored a power play goal, with the help of Mikhail Grigorenko and Erik Johnson. The Avalanche won 4-3 in overtime with a Landeskog goal, his second of the game, with a lone assist from MacKinnon. The three stars belonged to Landeskog, MacKinnon, and Cullen.

Northwest to Detroit, where the Red Wings bring in the Ottawa Senators. Andrew Hammond and Petr Mrazek make the starts in goal. Detroit opened in the first period with a Mike Green goal, assisted by Thomas Vanek and Gustav Nyquist. The Red Wings added on with a Darren Helm goal, his second of the season, fueled by Henrik Zetterberg and Xavier Ouellet. Detroit extended the lead on Green's second goal of the game, a power play goal powered by Tomas Tatar and Vanek. Ottawa got on the board with a shorthanded Ryan Dzingel goal in the second period, his second of the season, set up by Erik Karlsson. The Red Wings answered in the third period when Green finished his hat trick, guided in by Luke Glendening and Riley Sheahan. Detroit iced it at 5-1 with a Helm goal, his second of the game and third of the year, passed from Vanek, who got a sock trick. The three stars were awarded to Green, Helm, and Vanek.

Finally, the Winnipeg Jets host the Boston Bruins. Tuukka Rask and Connor Hellebuyck are in the blue paint. Winnipeg started in the first period with a Blake Wheeler goal, his third of the season, coming off of Alexander Burmistrov. Boston tied it on a Dominic Moore goal, via Tim Schaller and Noel Acciari. The Bruins took the lead with a David Pastrnak goal in the second period, his fourth of the year, assisted by Brad Marchand and Rask. Boston added on in the third period on a Brandon Carlo goal, going in unassisted. The Bruins iced it at 4-1 with a Zdeno Chara empty net goal, set up by Rask. The three stars were Rask (34 for 35 in saves), Carlo, and Pastrnak.

KHL 2016/17 - Day 56

Seven games on throughout the Russian league today. We begin in the Far East with...

Amur Khabarovsk hosting Salavat Yulaev Ufa. Niklas Svedberg and Juha Metsola are in goal. Khabarovsk started in the first period on a Tomas Zohorna goal, going in unassisted. Ufa tied it on a Sami Lepisto goal, passed from Linus Omark and Teemu Hartikainen. Amur took the lead back on a Vyacheslav Ushenin goal, via Vladislav Ushenin and Oleg Li. Khabarovsk added on in the second period on a Jan Kolar power play goal, powered by Teemu Ramstedt and Zohorna. Salavat Yulaev got one back with a Kirill Kaprizov goal, fueled by Stepan Khripunov and Zakhar Arzamastsev. Ufa tied it on an unassisted Igor Makarov goal. Salavat Yulaev took the lead in the third period on an Evgeny Bodrov goal, with a lone assist by Enver Lisin. Amur retied it as Vyacheslav Litovchenko scored a power play goal, with the help of Artyom Zub and Alexei Byvaltsev. The tie went to a shootout, where Ufa won 5-4 with tallies by Lisin and Maxim Mayorov. The three stars were Lisin, Mayorov, and Zohorna.

Over in Omsk, Avangard welcomes CSKA Moscow. Ilya Sorokin and Dominik Furch tend the twines. Moscow opened in the first period with a Valery Nichushkin goal, assisted by Sorokin and Konstantin Alexeyev. Omsk tied it on a Derek Roy power play goal, powered by Vladimir Sobotka and Yegor Martynov. CSKA took the lead on an Alexander Popov goal, guided in by Ivan Telegin and Bogdan Kiselevich in the second period. Avangard tied it again with a Valentin Pyanov goal, made possible by Alexander Kucheryavenko and Maxim Pestushko. Moscow retook the lead in the third period with a Sergei Andronov goal, coming off of Nichushkin and Nikita Pivtsakin. This stood for a 3-2 win, with the three stars going to Nichushkin, Andronov, and Popov.

Out in Bratislava, Slovan brings in Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. Ville Kolppanen and Justin Pogge make the starts in goal. Nizhnekamsk led off in the first period with a Gilbert Brule power play goal, powered by Richard Gynge and Dan Sexton. Neftekhimik added on with a Gynge goal, made possible by Sexton and Brule. Nizhnekamsk extended the lead in the second period as Sexton scored, thanks to Brule. Bratislava got on the board with an unassisted power play goal by Tomas Zigo. Neftekhimik replied on an Evgeny Grigorenko goal, passed from Dmitry Makarov and Evgeny Ryasensky. Nizhnekamsk padded the lead in the third period on a Sergei Konkov goal, via Bogdan Yakimov. Slovan got one back with a Jonathan Cheechoo goal, fueled by Ivan Svarny and Michal Hlinka. This only made it 5-2, the final, with the three stars going to Sexton, Brule, and Gynge.

Up in Finland, Jokerit Helsinki hosts Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. Ilya Proskuryakov and Ryan Zapolski are in the blue paint. Helsinki began in the first period with a Sakari Salminen goal, coming off of Antti Pihlstrom and Oliver Lauridsen. Nizhny Novgorod tied it on a Daniil Ilyin goal, courtesy of Fredrik Pettersson and Ivan Vishnevsky. Jokerit retook the lead in the second period on a Tomi Maki goal, assisted by Marko Anttila and Michael Keranen. Helsinki added on with a Brian O'Neill goal, via Peter Regin. Jokerit extended the lead as Jesse Joensuu scored, thanks to Charles Genoway and O'Neill. This stood for a 4-1 win, with the three stars being O'Neill, Zapolski (22 for 23 in saves), and Maki.

Back in Russia, the Sochi Leopards welcome Dinamo Minsk. Ben Scrivens and Konstantin Barulin protect the nets. Sochi struck first in the first period with an Eric O'Dell power play goal, powered by Mikhail Mamkin and Oscar Fantenberg. Minsk tied it on an Alexander Pavlovich goal, guided in by Andrei Stas in the second period. The Leopards won 2-1 in overtime on a Yury Alexandrov goal, assisted by Ilya Krikunov and Igor Ignatushkin. The three stars went to Barulin (16 for 17 in saves), Alexandrov, and O'Dell.

Riga tied it on a Patrick Mullen goal, via Vitalijs Pavlovs and Maris Bicevskis. In the shootout, Spartak won 2-1 with tallies by Konstantin Glazachev and Vadim Berdnikov to top Dinamo's Lauris Darzins. The three stars went to Kalnins (25 for 26 in saves), Bespalov (28 for 29 in saves), and Berdnikov.

Finally, Medvescak Zagreb hosts Ak Bars Kazan. Stanislav Galimov and Danny Taylor man the nets. Zagreb was first to score in the first period with a Brandon McMillan goal, fueled by Francis Pare and Goran Bezina. Kazan tied it on a Fyodor Malykhin power play goal, powered by Andrei Popov and Anton Glinkin. Medvescak retook the lead in the third period on a Tomas Mertl goal, assisted by Blake Parlett and Shaone Morrisonn. There's so few games on today, we'll put them all in one post. We begin with a single Russian game, as...

SKA St. Petersburg hosts Vityaz Podolsk. Igor Saprykin and Mikko Koskinen are in the creases. St. Petersburg began in the first period with an Ilya Kovalchuk goal, fueled by Vyacheslav Voynov and Pavel Datsyuk. SKA added on with an Jarno Koskiranta goal, guided in by Steve Moses. St. Petersburg extended the lead as Sergei Plotnikov scored, thanks to Kovalchuk and Datsyuk. Podolsk got on the board in the second period on an Alexei Makeyev goal, passed from Maxim Afinogenov and Alexei Semenov. SKA shot back with a Koskiranta goal, assisted by Alexander Dergachyov and Moses. St. Petersburg padded the lead with a Kovalchuk goal, with a lone assist by Voynov. The game ended at 5-1, with the three stars being Kovalchuk, Koskiranta, and Moses, while Voynov and Datsyuk get the honorable mentions.

In the United States, the New York Islanders welcome the Anaheim Ducks. John Gibson and Jaroslav Halak are the goalies. Buffalo started in the first period with a Kyle Okposo goal, fueled by Sam Reinhart and Ryan O'Reilly. The Sabres added on with an O'Reilly power play goal, powered by Okposo and Rasmus Ristolainen. Edmonton got on the board with a Benoit Pouliot goal, helped along by Zack Kassian and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. The Oilers tied it on a Milan Lucic goal, via Leon Draisaitl and Jordan Eberle. Buffalo took the lead back in the second on O'Reilly's second goal of the game, assisted by Ristolainen and Cody Franson. The Sabres extended the lead as Brian Gionta scored, thanks to Jake McCabe and Marcus Foligno. Major League Soccer 2016 - Week 33

All games this weekend and next weekend are on Sunday with Conference-based universal kickoffs as the last few playoff spots get decided. We begin with the Eastern Conference today, with the first game being...

The Chicago Fire hosting the New England Revolution. Brad Knighton and Sean Johnson are in goal. Chicago began in the ninth minute with a Michael de Leeuw goal, assisted by Brandon Vincent and David Accam. New England had a yellow card given to Kei Kamara for a twenty-ninth minute foul. The Revolution tied it on a forty-third minute Diego Fagundez goal. The Fire's Khaly Thiam took a yellow card in the forty-fourth minute. In the fifty-first minute, London Woodberry of New England took a yellow card for a foul. Chicago went down to ten men in the fifty-fourth minute when Luis Solignac took a red card for violent conduct. Things went level again as Revolution keeper Knighton took a straight red card for denying a goal scoring opportunity in the seventy-third minute. Chicago took the lead on an Accam goal in the eightieth minute, set up by Jonathan Campbell. The Fire's Matt Polster took a yellow card in stoppage time for time wasting. The game ended 2-1, with the man of the match being Accam for the winning goal.

East to DC, where United welcomes New York City FC. Josh Saunders and Bill Hamid are the goalies. DC opened in the twenty-seventh minute on a Patrick Mullins goal, assisted by Lloyd Sam and Luciano Acosta. United added on in the thirty-first minute with a Bobby Boswell goal, guided in by Sam. DC extended the lead in the forty-fifth minute as Rob Vincent scored, thanks to Mullins. New York City had a yellow card in the fifty-third minute given to Andrea Pirlo for a foul. To the Western Conference, with FC Dallas bringing in the Seattle Sounders FC. Stefan Frei and Chris Seitz are in the six-yard boxes. Thirteen games on the busiest day of the early part of the year. We begin with...

The Ottawa Senators hosting the Montreal Canadiens. Al Montoya and Craig Anderson are in goal. Ottawa led off in the first period with a Dzingel goal, passed from Chris Wideman and Erik Karlsson. The Senators added on with a Zack Smith goal, made possible by Wideman and Bobby Ryan. Montreal got on the board in the second period with a Jeff Petry power play goal, powered by Nathan Beaulieu and Tomas Plekanec. The Canadiens tied it in the third period on a Artturi Lehkonen goal, coming off of Phillip Danault and Shea Weber. Stateside, the Pittsburgh Penguins welcome the Anaheim Ducks. Jonathan Bernier and Marc-Andre Fleury are the goalies. Pittsburgh began in the first period with an Ian Cole goal, assisted by Trevor Daley and Evgeni Malkin. Anaheim tied it on a Cam Fowler power play goal, powered by Ryan Getzlaf and Ryan Kesler. The Penguins took the lead in the second period on a Conor Sheary goal, made possible by Chris Kunitz and Matt Cullen. New Jersey opened in the first period with a Kyle Palmieri goal, with a lone assist by John Moore. The Devils added on with a Travis Zajac goal, made possible by P.A. Parenteau. Tampa Bay got on the board in the second period with a Steven Stamkos goal, via Ondrej Palat and Jonathan Drouin. The Lightning tied it on an Alex Killorn goal, his second of the season, coming off of Nikita Kucherov and Tyler Johnson. Tampa Bay took the lead in the third period as Valtteri Filppula scored his second of the year, thanks to Jason Garrison and Brayden Point. The final held from here at 3-2, with the three stars handed to Filppula, Killorn, and Vasilevskiy (32 for 34 in saves).

Back north, the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Boston Bruins. Anton Khudobin and Frederik Andersen are set to start in goal. Toronto started in the first period with a Connor Brown goal, via Matt Hunwick and Peter Holland. The Maple Leafs added on with a Mitchell Marner goal, courtesy of Tyler Bozak and Nikita Zaitsev. Toronto extended the lead as James van Riemsdyk scored, thanks to Bozak and Jake Gardiner. Boston got on the board with a David Pastrnak power play goal, his third of the season, powered by John-Michael Liles and Brad Marchand. The Maple Leafs answered in the third period with a Milan Michalek goal, assisted by Morgan Rielly and Martin Marincin. This stood for a 4-1 win, with the three stars given to Andersen (24 for 25 in saves), Marner, and Brown.

Down in DC, the Washington Capitals welcome the New York Islanders. Thomas Greiss is mismatched with Braden Holtby in goal. Washington struck first in the first period on a Daniel Winnik goal, assisted by John Carlson and Jay Beagle. New York tied it on a Ryan Strome power play goal, powered by Brock Nelson and Johnny Boychuk. Florida shot back with an Aleksander Barkov goal in the third period, his second of the season, via Marchessault and Jaromir Jagr. Northward to Columbus, with the Blue Jackets hosting the San Jose Sharks. Martin Jones and Sergei Bobrovsky are the masked men. Columbus got on the board in the third period with a Zach Werenski power play goal, powered by Alexander Wennberg and Cam Atkinson. San Jose shot back on a Patrick Marleau power play goal into an empty net, set up by Burns and Marc-Edouard Vlasic. The Blue Jackets got one back on a Josh Anderson goal, with a lone helper by Scott Hartnell. Northwest to Minnesota, with the Wild welcoming the Winnipeg Jets. Michael Hutchinson and Devan Dubnyk receive the starting nods. Winnipeg began in the first period with an unassisted goal by Nikolaj Ehlers. The Jets added on with a Blake Wheeler goal, his second of the season, made possible by Dustin Byfuglien and Mark Scheifele. Minnesota got on the board in the second period with a Chris Stewart goal, assisted by Jared Spurgeon and Ryan Suter. The Wild tied it with a Matt Dumba power play goal, powered by Stewart and Mikko Koivu. Minnesota took the lead on an Eric Staal goal, via Charlie Coyle and Zach Parise. Backtracking to St. Louis, where the Blues bring in the New York Rangers. Henrik Lundqvist faces a lesser foe in Carter Hutton in goal. St. Louis opened in the first period with a Vladimir Tarasenko goal, his third of the season, coming off of Colton Parayko. New York tied it on a Chris Kreider goal, his second of the year, made possible by Mika Zibanejad and Dan Girardi. The Blues retook the lead with a Paul Stastny goal, his second of the season, fueled by Robby Fabbri and Alexander Steen. St. Louis added on with an Alex Pietrangelo power play goal, powered by Stastny and Tarasenko. The Rangers got one back on a Zibanejad goal, helped along by Kreider and Nick Holden. This produced the 3-2 final, with the three stars being Stastny, Tarasenko, and Zibanejad, while Kreider gets an honorable mention.

Along to Chicago, where the Blackhawks host the Nashville Predators. Marek Mazanec and Scott Darling are the backups in goal. Chicago started in the first period with a Nick Schmaltz goal, assisted by Tyler Motte. The Blackhawks added on with a Brent Seabrook power play goal, via Duncan Keith and Patrick Kane. Chicago extended the lead as Richard Panik scored his second of the season, thanks to Niklas Hjalmarsson and Keith. Nashville got on the board with a Colin Wilson goal, with a lone assist by James Neal. The Predators got closer in the second period on a Craig Smith power play goal, powered by P.K. Subban and Mike Ribeiro. The Blackhawks answered in the third period on a Panik goal, his second of the game and third of the year, helped along by Marian Hossa and Artem Anisimov. Nashville replied with a Viktor Arvidsson goal, fueled by Mattias Ekholm. Chicago countered with Panik finishing his hat trick, with helpers from Kane and Seabrook. The Stars added on with a Devin Shore goal, passed from Brett Ritchie and Jordie Benn. Colorado got on the board with a Joe Colborne power play goal, powered by Mikhail Grigorenko and Nathan MacKinnon. The Avalanche tied it on another Colborne power play goal, made possible by Erik Johnson and Francois Beauchemin. Colorado took the lead in the second period on a Carl Soderberg goal, guided in by Tyson Barrie and Beauchemin. The Avalanche extended the lead as MacKinnon scored, with the help of Gabriel Landeskog and Patrick Wiercioch. Colorado padded the lead with Colborne finishing his hat trick, with assists provided by Nikita Zadorov and Blake Comeau. Dallas got one back with a Jamie Benn power play goal, set up by Seguin and John Klingberg. The Stars chipped closer on a Seguin goal, his second of the game, fueled by Eaves and Dan Hamhuis. Arizona added on in the second period with a shorthanded goal by Brad Richardson, set up by Jordan Martinook. The Flyers got one back with a Wayne Simmonds goal, helped along by Claude Giroux. Philadelphia tied it in the third period on a Matt Read goal, coming off of Travis Konecny and Manning. The Coyotes won 4-3 in overtime on an Oliver Ekman-Larsson goal, assisted by Hanzal and Radim Vrbata. The three stars went to Hanzal, Manning, and Richardson.

Finally, the Vancouver Canucks host the Calgary Flames. Chad Johnson and Ryan Miller are the goalies. Calgary dented the scoreboard first as Vancouver committed an own goal, officially credited as an empty net goal by Troy Brouwer, his second of the season going in unassisted in the first period. Vancouver tied it in the third period on a Daniel Sedin goal, made possible by Loui Eriksson and Henrik Sedin. The Canucks won with a Brandon Sutter shootout goal for the 2-1 result. The three stars went to Miller (25 for 25 in saves), Johnson (30 for 31 in saves), and Daniel Sedin.

Ten games on today for a busy set of games. We begin with...

Traktor Chelyabinsk hosting Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg. Igor Ustinsky and Vasily Demchenko are the goalies. Yekaterinburg opened in the first period with a Rok Ticar goal, passed from Alexei Simakov and Alexander Shchemerov. Chelyabinsk got on the board with a Kirill Koltsov goal, coming off of Artyom Borodkin and Yury Petrov. Traktor took the lead in the second period with an Alexander Chernikov goal, assisted by Koltsov. Chelyabinsk added on with another Chernikov goal in the third period, made possible by Petrov and Alexander Pankov. Avtomobilist got one back on a Simakov power play goal, powered by Nikolai Timashov and Ticar. The game ended at 3-2, with the three stars going to Chernikov, Koltsov, and Simakov, while Ticar and Petrov get the honorable mentions.

In Magnitogorsk, Metallurg welcomes Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk. Alexander Sharychenkov and Vasily Koshechkin are in the blue paint. Magnitogorsk got going in the second period on a Jan Kovar goal, guided in by Chris Lee and Sergei Mozyakin. Khanty-Mansiysk tied it on a Konstantin Mayorov goal, going in unassisted. Metallurg retook the lead on another Kovar goal in the third period, a power play goal coming off of Danis Zaripov and Alexander Semin. Ugra tied it again with a Mayorov goal, with a lone assist by Pavel Varfolomeyev. Khanty-Mansiysk won 3-2 in overtime with an Anton Kuryanov goal, helped along by Evgeny Lapenkov. Dinamo tied on a shorthanded goal by Alexander Pavlovich, going in unassisted. Cherepovets took the lead with a Dmitry Kagarlitsky power play goal in the third period, powered by Polak. The tie went to a shootout, where Spartak prevailed 2-1 on Ryan Stoa and Alexander Vasilyev tallies to top Konstantin Okulov of Sibir. Backtracking to Nizhny Novgorod, with Torpedo hosting Metallurg Novokuznetsk. Mikhail Biryukov and Ilya Proskuryakov are between the posts. Nizhny Novgorod tied it on a Dmitry Shulenin goal, assisted by Kaspars Daugavins and Nikolai Zherdev. Torpedo took the lead on a Sam Lofquist power play goal, powered by Daugavins and Dmitry Semin.
