NHL 2021-22 - Day 11

Four games on for a Friday night, beginning with...

The Toronto Maple Leafs hosting the San Jose Sharks. Adin Hill and Michael Hutchinson are the lesser-known goalies. San Jose got going in the second period with a Logan Couture goal, his second of the season, helped along by Marc-Edouard Vlasic. Toronto tied it on a Jason Spezza goal, his second of the year, via Pierre Engvall and Wayne Simmonds. The Sharks retook the lead with a Timo Meier goal, his second of the season, going in unassisted. The Maple Leafs tied it again with an Ondrej Kase goal, an unassisted tally. San Jose regained the lead with an Erik Karlsson goal, his second of the year, fueled by Jacob Middleton. The Sharks added on in the third period with a Jonathan Dahlen goal, his third of the season, guided in by Couture and Meier. Toronto shot back with a John Tavares goal, courtesy of William Nylander and Jake Muzzin. San Jose iced it at 5-3 with a Couture empty net goal, his second of the game and third of the year, set up by Andrew Cogliano. The three stars were Couture, Meier, and Karlsson. 

In Buffalo, the Sabres welcome the Boston Bruins. Linus Ullmark and Craig Anderson are the goalies. Boston led off in the first period with a David Pastrnak goal, assisted by Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron. The Bruins added on with a Tomas Nosek goal, fueled by Charlie Coyle and Taylor Hall, Boston extended the lead in the second period on a Coyle power play goal, powered by Marchand and Mike Reilly. Buffalo got on the board in the third period with a Victor Olofsson goal, his second of the season, made possible by Rasmus Asplund and Colin Miller. The Bruins iced it at 4-1 with a Hall empty net goal, set up by Coyle. The three stars went to Coyle, Ullmark (35 for 36 in saves), and Hall, while Marchand gets an honorable mention. 

Down in Dallas, the Stars bring in the Los Angeles Kings. Jonathan Quick and Braden Holtby are the veteran goalies. Los Angeles began in the first period with an Anze Kopitar goal, his sixth of the season, coming off of Viktor Arvidsson and Dustin Brown. Dallas tied it on a Tyler Seguin power play goal, powered by Ryan Suter and Miro Heiskanen. The Kings replied in the second period with a Gabriel Vilardi power play goal, with assists provided by Arthur Kaliyev and Sean Walker. The Stars tied it again in the third period with a Heiskanen power play goal, helped along by Joe Pavelski and Seguin. Dallas won 3-2 in overtime with a Denis Gurianov goal, set up by Heiskanen and Roope Hintz. The three stars were Heiskanen, Seguin, and Gurianov.

Finally, the Vegas Golden Knights host the Edmonton Oilers. Mikko Koskinen and Robin Lehner protect the nets. Vegas struck first in the first period with a Nicolas Roy goal, via Zach Whitecloud. Edmonton tied it on a Zach Hyman power play goal, his fourth of the season, powered by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. The Golden Knights answered in the second period with a Nolan Patrick goal, assisted by Dylan Coghlan and Brayden McNabb. The Oilers replied with a Hyman goal, his second of the game and fifth of the year, coming off of McDavid and Jesse Puljujarvi. Edmonton took the lead with a Draisaitl goal, his third of the season, guided in by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Kris Russell. Vegas tied it in the third period with a Nicolas Hague goal, fueled by Roy and Chandler Stephenson. The Oilers took the lead back with a Zack Kassian goal, his third of the year, with a lone helper from Duncan Keith. Edmonton iced it at 5-3 with a Draisaitl empty net goal, his second of the game and fourth of the campaign, going in unassisted. The three stars were Hyman, Draisaitl, and McDavid, while Roy gets an honorable mention.

NHL 2021-22 - Day 10

We've got ten games on tonight, beginning with...

The Montreal Canadiens hosting the Carolina Hurricanes. Frederik Andersen and Jake Allen will protect the nets. Carolina got going in the second period with a Sebastian Aho power play goal, powered by Teuvo Teravainen and Tony DeAngelo. The Hurricanes added on with an Andrei Svechnikov goal, his fourth of the season, coming off of Martin Necas and Vincent Trocheck. Montreal got on the board with a Tyler Toffoli power play goal, with assists provided by Nick Suzuki and Jonathan Drouin. Carolina replied in the third period with a Jesperi Kotkaniemi goal, made possible by Brady Skjei and Aho. The Hurricanes iced it at 4-1 with an Aho empty net goal, his second of the game, set up by Teravainen and Trocheck. The three stars were Aho, Andersen (27 for 28 in saves), and Teravainen, while Trocheck gets an honorable mention.

Over in Ottawa, the Senators welcome the San Jose Sharks. James Reimer and Matt Murray are the veteran goalies. Ottawa began in the first period with a Drake Batherson goal, assisted by Brady Tkachuk and Artem Zub. San Jose tied it in the second period with a Logan Couture goal, guided in by Brent Burns and Timo Meier. The Sharks took the lead with a Kevin Labanc power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Erik Karlsson and William Eklund. This stood for a 2-1 win, with the three stars belonging to Reimer (30 for 31 in saves), Labanc, and Couture.

Down in Florida, the Panthers bring in the Colorado Avalanche. Jonas Johansson is mismatched with Sergei Bobrovsky in goal. Florida started in the first period with a Sam Reinhart goal, fueled by Mason Marchment and Anton Lundell. Colorado tied it with a Mikko Rantanen goal, his second of the season, coming off of Samuel Girard and Nathan MacKinnon. The Panthers took the lead back with a Sam Bennett power play goal in the second period, his fourth of the year, powered by Aaron Ekblad and Jonathan Huberdeau. Florida added on with a Carter Verhaeghe goal, his third of the season, going in unassisted. The Panthers iced it at 4-1 with a Lundell empty net goal, his second of the year, set up by Marchment and Radko Gudas. The three stars belonged to Lundell, Bobrovsky (30 for 31 in saves), and Marchment.

Back north, the New Jersey Devils host the Washington Capitals. Vitek Vanecek and Scott Wedgewood are set to start in goal. Washington led off in the first period with an Anthony Mantha goal, his second of the season, coming off of Daniel Sprong and Trevor van Riemsdyk. The Capitals added on with a Dmitry Orlov goal, assisted by Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov. Washington extended the lead as Sprong scored in the second period, going in unassisted. The Capitals padded the lead in the third period with a Kuznetsov goal, his third of the year, made possible by Tom Wilson and Ovechkin. New Jersey got on the board with a Janne Kuokkaken power play goal, powered by Damon Severson and Yegor Sharangovich. This only made it 4-1, the final, with the three stars given to Sprong, Kuznetsov, and Vanecek (24 for 25 in saves), while Ovechkin gets an honorable mention.

Along to Columbus, as the Blue Jackets welcome the New York Islanders. Ilya Sorokin and Elvis Merzlikins are between the pipes. New York dented the scoreboard in the second period with a Scott Mayfield goal, going in unassisted. Columbus tied it on a Boone Jenner power play goal, his third of the season, powered by Oliver Bjorkstrand and Jakub Voracek. The Blue Jackets took the lead with a Cole Sillinger goal, made possible by Vladislav Gavrikov and Bjorkstrand. The Islanders retied it on a Mathew Barzal goal, his second of the year, assisted by Noah Dobson and Matt Martin. Columbus won 3-2 in overtime with a Patrik Laine goal, his second of the campaign, passed from Zach Werenski and Bjorkstrand. The three stars were Bjorkstrand, Laine, and Sillinger.

Up in Detroit, the Red Wings bring in the Calgary Flames. Jacob Markstrom and Alex Nedeljkovic are in the blue paint. Calgary opened in the first period with an Elias Lindholm goal, his third of the season, courtesy of Johnny Gaudreau and Erik Gudbranson. The Flames added on with an Andrew Mangiapane goal, his second of the year, fueled by Gudbranson and Dillon Dube. Calgary iced it at 3-0 with a Matthew Tkachuk empty net goal, going in unassisted. The three stars belonged to Markstrom (33 save shutout), Lindholm, and Gudbranson.

South to Nashville, as the Jets host the New York Rangers. Igor Shesterkin and Juuse Saros patrol the creases. New York struck first in the first period with a Filip Chytil goal, via Sammy Blais and Alexis Lafreniere. Nashville tied it in the second period with a Philip Tomasino goal, assisted by Ryan Johansen and Dante Fabbro. The Rangers took the lead back in the third period with a Lafreniere goal, his second of the season, coming off of Blais and Adam Fox. New York iced it at 3-1 with an empty net goal by Barclay Goodrow, going in unassisted. The three stars were Lafreniere, Shesterkin (28 for 29 in saves), and Blais.

In Canada again, the Winnipeg Jets welcome the Anaheim Ducks. John Gibson and Connor Hellebuyck tend the twines. Anaheim kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Troy Terry power play goal, powered by Cam Fowler and Kevin Shattenkirk. Winnipeg tied it on a Pierre-Luc Dubois goal, his third of the season, made possible by Kyle Connor and Evgeny Svechnikov. The Jets took the lead in the second period with an Andrew Copp goal, his third of the year, guided in by Nate Schmidt and Paul Stastny. Winnipeg added on in the third period with a Josh Morrissey power play goal, his second of the season, with assists provided by Schmidt and Dubois. The Jets extended the lead on a Kyle Connor empty net goal, his fourth of the year, going in unassisted. Winnipeg iced it at 5-1 with another unassisted Connor goal, his second of the game and fifth of the campaign. The three stars were Connor, Dubois, and Schmidt.

Stateside in Chicago, the Blackhawks bring in the Vancouver Canucks. Thatcher Demko and Kevin Lankinen draw the starts in goal. Vancouver drew first blood in the first period with a Jason Dickinson goal, helped along by Matthew Highmore and Nils Hoglander. Chicago tied it on an Alex DeBrincat power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Patrick Kane and Seth Jones. The Canucks took the lead back in the second period with a Tanner Pearson goal, fueled by Quinn Hughes and Conor Garland. Vancouver added on with a Brock Boeser power play goal, with assists provided by J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson. The Canucks iced it at 4-1 with a Garland empty net goal, his second of the year, set up by Tucker Poolman and Tyler Myers. The three stars were handed to Garland, Demko (29 for 30 in saves), and Pearson.

Finally, the Arizona Coyotes host the Edmonton Oilers. Mikko Koskinen and Karel Vejmelka receive the starting nods in goal. Edmonton cracked the scoresheet in the first period with a Warren Foegele goal, made possible by Zack Kassian and Evan Bouchard. The Oilers added on in the second period with a shorthanded Zach Hyman goal, his second of the season, set up by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Edmonton extended the lead as Connor McDavid scored his fifth of the year, thanks to Jesse Puljujarvi and Tyson Barrie. Arizona got on the board with a Dysin Mayo goal, fueled by Ryan Dzingel and Andrew Ladd. The Oilers shot back with a Hyman power play goal, his second of the game and third of the season, powered by McDavid and Nugent-Hopkins. Edmonton padded the lead on a McDavid power play goal, his second of the game and sixth of the year, with assists provided by Nugent-Hopkins and Barrie. This made it 5-1, the final, with the three stars given to McDavid, Hyman, and Nugent-Hopkins, while Barrie gets an honorable mention.

Just two games on tonight, beginning with...

The Philadelphia Flyers welcoming the Boston Bruins. Jeremy Swayman and Martin Jones are the goalies. Philadelphia led off in the first period with a Cam Atkinson goal, his second of the season, assisted by Derick Brassard and Justin Braun. Boston tied it on a Karson Kuhlman goal, via Trent Frederic and Tomas Nosek. The Flyers took the lead back with Joel Farabee power play goal, his third of the year, powered by Brassard and Ryan Ellis. Philadelphia added on in the second period with a Scott Laughton goal, coming off of James van Riemsdyk and Keith Yandle. The Bruins got one back with a Taylor Hall goal, courtesy of Charlie McAvoy. Boston tied it on a Brad Marchand goal, his third of the season, guided in by David Pastrnak and McAvoy. The Flyers restored the lead on an Atkinson goal, his second of the game and third of the year, fueled by Farabee in the third period. Vegas began in the first period with a William Karlsson goal, assisted by Reilly Smith and Alec Martinez. St. Louis tied it on a Brandon Saad goal in the second period, courtesy of David Perron and Ryan O'Reilly. The Blues took the lead in the third period with a Vladimir Tarasenko goal, passed from Jordan Kyrou and Brayden Schenn. St. Louis iced it at 3-1 with an Ivan Barbashev empty net goal, his second of the season, set up by Robert Thomas and Colton Parayko. The three stars were Binnington (42 for 43 in saves), Tarasenko, and Lehner (35 for 37 in saves).

The Buffalo Sabres hosting the Vancouver Canucks. Thatcher Demko and Craig Anderson are set to start in goal. Vancouver led off in the first period with a Bo Horvat goal, assisted by Tanner Pearson. Buffalo tied it on a Kyle Okposo goal, his second of the season, made possible by Zemgus Girgensons and Rasmus Dahlin. The Canucks took the lead with a Justin Dowling goal, helped along by Luke Schenn and J.T. Miller. The Sabres tied it in the second period with a Girgensons goal, his second of the year, via Okposo and Dylan Cozens. Buffalo took the lead with a Jeff Skinner goal, courtesy of Colin Miller and Cozens. The Sabres added on with a Tage Thompson goal, fueled by Will Butcher and Victor Olofsson. Back north, the New Jersey Devils host the Seattle Kraken. Joey Daccord and Jonathan Bernier are in the blue paint. Seattle got on the board in the second period with a Riley Sheahan goal, via Adam Larsson and Vince Dunn. New Jersey replied with a Jimmy Vesey goal, assisted by Andreas Johnsson and Colton White. The Kraken got one back on a Jared McCann power play goal in the third period, his third of the season, powered by Mark Giordano and Yanni Gourde. The Devils iced it at 4-2 with a Pavel Zacha empty net goal, set up by Michael McLeod and Nico Hischier. The three stars were Graves, Vesey, and Severson.

Over in Pittsburgh, the Penguins welcome the Dallas Stars. Braden Holtby and Tristan Jarry guard the cages. Dallas struck first in the first period with a Michael Raffl goal, his second of the season, passed from Radek Faksa and Miro Heiskanen. Pittsburgh tied it in the second period with a John Marino goal, courtesy of Brock McGinn and Marcus Pettersson. The tie lasted to a shootout, where Joe Pavelski and Alexander Radulov tallied for a 2-1 Stars win over Jeff Carter and the Penguins. The three stars were Holtby (27 for 28 in saves), Jarry (28 for 29 in saves), and Raffl.

Washington started in the first period with an Evgeny Kuznetsov goal, helped along by John Carlson. Colorado tied it on a shorthanded J.T. Compher goal, his second of the season, going in unassisted. The Capitals took the lead back with a Nick Jensen goal, assisted by Dmitry Orlov and Tom Wilson. The Avalanche tied it in the second period with a Darren Helm goal, via Logan O'Connor and Bowen Byram. Washington took the lead again with an Anthony Mantha goal, made possible by Lars Eller. The Capitals added on with a Kuznetsov goal, his second of the game, passed from Wilson and Orlov. Washington extended the lead as Nic Dowd scored in the third period, thanks to Jensen and Carl Hagelin. Colorado got one back with a Mikko Rantanen power play goal, powered by Nathan MacKinnon and Compher. The Capitals answered with an Alex Ovechkin empty net goal, his fourth of the year, set up by Wilson and Kuznetsov to make it a 6-3 final. The Islanders padded the lead on a Cal Clutterbuck goal, going in unassisted. Chicago got on the board with a MacKenzie Entwistle goal, via Kirby Dach and Erik Gustafsson. The three stars of the 4-1 game were Sorokin (39 for 40 in saves), Wahlstrom, and Beauvillier.

The Wild pulled one back with a Marcus Foligno power play goal, his second of the season, guided in by Goligoski and Frederick Gaudreau. Four games on to complete the first week of NHL play. First up...

The Philadelphia Flyers host the Seattle Kraken. Philipp Grubauer and Carter Hart are the masked men. Philadelphia opened in the first period with a Claude Giroux goal, his second of the season, assisted by Travis Konecny. The Flyers added on with a Konecny goal, his second of the year, courtesy of Keith Yandle. Philadelphia extended the lead as Derick Brassard scored, thanks to Justin Braun and Travis Sanheim. The Flyers padded the lead in the second period with a Ryan Ellis goal, via Brassard and Joel Farabee. Philadelphia chased Grubauer with a Braun goal, coming off of James van Riemsdyk and Oskar Lindblom. Chris Driedger replaced Grubauer in goal. Seattle got on the board with a Carson Soucy goal, passed from Jared McCann and Joonas Donskoi. The Flyers responded in the third period with a Farabee goal, his second of the season, guided in by Cam Atkinson and Brassard. The final held at 6-1, with the three stars handed to Brassard, Konecny, and Braun, while Farabee gets an honorable mention.

New York started in the first period with a Mika Zibanejad goal, going in unassisted. Toronto tied it in the second period with a Michael Bunting goal, his second of the season, via Morgan Rielly and John Tavares. The Rangers won 2-1 in overtime with an Artemi Panarin goal, set up by Zibanejad. The three stars were awarded to Zibanejad, Shesterkin (40 for 41 in saves), and Panarin.

Westward to Calgary, as the Flames bring in the Anaheim Ducks. John Gibson and Jacob Markstrom guard the cages. Calgary led off in the first period with a Blake Coleman goal, fueled by Johnny Gaudreau. Anaheim tied it on a Cam Fowler power play goal, powered by Kevin Shattenkirk and Troy Terry. The Flames retook the lead in the second period with an Elias Lindholm goal, his second of the season, coming off of Gaudreau and Rasmus Andersson. The Ducks tied it in the third period with a Rickard Rakell goal, helped along by Adam Henrique and Josh Mahura. Anaheim won 3-2 in overtime with a Jamie Drysdale goal, courtesy of Terry. The three stars were Terry, Drysdale, and Gaudreau.

Finally, the Arizona Coyotes host the St. Louis Blues. Jordan Binnington and Carter Hutton are the goalies. Arizona began in the first period with a Clayton Keller power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Phil Kessel and Shayne Gostisbehere. St. Louis tied it on a Pavel Buchnevich goal, passed from Jordan Kyrou and Torey Krug. The Coyotes retook the lead in the second period with a Lawson Crouse goal, coming off of Kessel and Gostisbehere. The Blues answered with a Justin Faulk power play goal, his second of the year, with assists provided by Kyrou and Tyler Bozak. St. Louis took the lead on an unassisted Kyrou goal. The Blues added on with a Klim Kostin goal, fueled by Robert Thomas and Faulk. St. Louis extended the lead as Kostin scored again, thanks to Jake Neighbours and Robert Bortuzzo. The Blues padded the lead on another Kyrou goal, his second of the game, with helpers from Ryan O'Reilly and Jake Walman. Karel Vejmelka replaced Hutton in goal. Arizona got one back in the third period with a Christian Fischer goal, guided in by Keller and Gostisbehere. The Coyotes got closer with an Ilya Lyubushkin goal, helped along by Travis Boyd and Kessel. St. Louis finished it at 7-4 with an Ivan Barbashev goal, made possible by Thomas and Vladimir Tarasenko. The three stars were Kyrou, Faulk, and Kostin, while Thomas, Keller, Gostisbehere and Kessel get the honorable mentions.

NHL 2021-22 - Day 6

Just one game on for today, as the Ottawa Senators host the Dallas Stars. Anton Khudobin and Filip Gustavsson receive the starting nods in goal. Dallas led off in the first period with a Michael Raffl goal, via Alexander Radulov and Radek Faksa. Ottawa tied it with a Nick Paul goal, courtesy of Connor Brown and Artem Zub. The Senators took the lead in the second period with a Chris Tierney power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Shane Pinto and Brown. Ottawa added on with another Tierney power play goal, his second of the game and third of the year, with assists provided by Zach Sanford and Brown. The Stars got one back in the third period with a Joe Pavelski goal, fueled by Faksa and Andrej Sekera. This only made it 3-2, the final, with the three stars going to Tierney, Brown, and Faksa.

NHL 2021-22 - Day 5

A huge day with 14 games is on, beginning with one matinee in...

Buffalo, as the Sabres host the Arizona Coyotes. Karel Vejmelka and Dustin Tokarski draw the starts in goal. Arizona led off in the first period with an Andrew Ladd goal, via Ryan Dzingel and Johan Larsson. Buffalo tied it on a Cody Eakin power play goal in the second period, powered by Drake Caggiula and Rasmus Dahlin. The Sabres won 2-1 in a shootout with tallies by Tage Thompson and Arttu Ruotsalainen overpowering the Coyotes' lone marker from Nick Schmaltz. The three stars were Tokarski (20 for 21 in saves), Eakin, and Vejmelka (32 for 33 in saves). 

Down in Florida, the Panthers welcome the New York Islanders. Ilya Sorokin and Sergei Bobrovsky are the Russian goalies. Florida began in the first period with a Sam Bennett goal, fueled by Radko Gudas and Gustav Forsling. The Panthers added on in the second period with another Bennett goal, his second of the game, via Jonathan Huberdeau and Aaron Ekblad. Florida extended the lead as Anthony Duclair scored his second of the season, thanks to MacKenzie Weegar. New York got on the board in the third period with an Oliver Wahlstrom power play goal, going in unassisted. The Panthers answered with a Bennett goal to complete his hat trick, with helpers from Matt Kiersted. Florida padded the lead with an Aleksander Barkov goal, made possible by Carter Verhaeghe and Forsling. The final stood at 5-1, with the three stars awarded to Bennett, Forsling, and Bobrovsky (29 for 30 in saves).

Back north, the Boston Bruins bring in the Dallas Stars. Braden Holtby and Jeremy Swayman are set to start in goal. Boston was first to score in the first period with a Brad Marchand penalty shot goal. Dallas tied it in the second period with a Luke Glendening goal, assisted by Tanner Kero. The Bruins retook the lead in the third period with a Jake DeBrusk goal, courtesy of Erik Haula and Nick Foligno. Boston added on with a Marchand empty net goal, his second of the game, set up by David Pastrnak. The final held at 3-1, with the three stars handed to Marchand, DeBrusk, and Swayman (27 for 28 in saves).

Along to Toronto, as the Maple Leafs host the Ottawa Senators. Anton Forsberg and Jack Campbell are the masked men. Toronto started in the first period with a Wayne Simmonds goal, courtesy of Rasmus Sandin and Travis Dermott. The Maple Leafs added on with an Alexander Kerfoot goal, made possible by William Nylander and Michael Bunting. Ottawa got on the board in the second period with a Josh Norris power play goal, powered by Drake Batherson and Tyler Ennis. Toronto answered in the third period with a Bunting goal, helped along by Kerfoot and Timothy Liljegren. This made it 3-1, the final, with the three stars belonging to Kerfoot, Bunting, and Campbell (20 for 21 in saves).

Staying in Canada, the Montreal Canadiens welcome the New York Rangers. Igor Shesterkin and Jake Allen are the goalies. New York dented the scoreboard in the second period with a Chris Kreider power play goal, his third of the season, powered by Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin. Montreal tied it in the third period with a Jonathan Drouin goal, his second of the year, courtesy of Christian Dvorak and Brett Kulak. The Rangers retook the lead on an Alexis Lafreniere goal, made possible by Zibanejad and Adam Fox. New York iced it at 3-1 with a Kevin Rooney empty net goal, going in unassisted. The three stars belonged to Shesterkin (31 for 32 in saves), Zibanejad, and Lafreniere. 

Back stateside, the Detroit Red Wings bring in the Vancouver Canucks. Jaroslav Halak and Thomas Greiss are in the blue paint. Detroit struck first in the first period with a Robby Fabbri goal, courtesy of Marc Staal and Gustav Lindstrom. Vancouver tied it in the second period on a Conor Garland goal, via Bo Horvat and Tanner Pearson. The Red Wings retook the lead with a Filip Zadina power play goal, powered by Mortiz Seider and Filip Hronek. Detroit iced it at 3-1 with a Sam Gagner empty net goal, set up by Tyler Bertuzzi. The three stars went to Greiss (40 for 41 in saves), Zadina, and Fabbri.

Next up, the Pittsburgh Penguins host the Chicago Blackhawks. Marc-Andre Fleury and Tristan Jarry guard the cages. Pittsburgh opened in the first period with a Teddy Blueger goal, his second of the season, passed from Brock McGinn and John Marino. The Penguins added on with a Drew O'Connor goal, via Dominik Simon. Pittsburgh extended the lead as McGinn goal, helped along by O'Connor. The Penguins padded the lead as Danton Heinen scored his third of the year, thanks to Jake Guentzel and Jeff Carter. Kevin Lankinen relieved Fleury. Chicago got on the board in the second period with a Patrick Kane power play goal, powered by Seth Jones and Alex DeBrincat. Pittsburgh replied with a Jason Zucker goal, set up by Kasperi Kapanen and Evan Rodrigues. The Blackhawks pulled one back with a Kirby Dach goal, his second of the season, coming off of Brandon Hagel and Kane. This only made it 5-2, the final, with the three stars being O'Connor, McGinn, and Kane.

To DC, as the Washington Capitals welcome the Tampa Bay Lightning. Andrei Vasilevskiy and Vitek Vanecek receive the starting nods in goal. Washington cracked the scoresheet in the second period with an Alex Ovechkin goal, his third of the season, made possible by Trevor van Riemsdyk and Tom Wilson. Tampa Bay tied it in the third period with a Mikhail Sergachev goal, assisted by Steven Stamkos and Erik Cernak. The Lightning won 2-1 in overtime with a Stamkos goal, his third of the year, coming off of Pierre-Edouard Bellemare. The three stars were Stamkos, Vasilevskiy (32 for 33 in saves), and Sergachev. 

Over in Columbus, the Blue Jackets bring in the Seattle Kraken. Philipp Grubauer and Elvis Merzlikins man the nets. Seattle got going in the second period with a Brandon Tanev goal, his third of the season, assisted by Ryan Donato. Columbus tied it in the third period with an Eric Robinson goal, courtesy of Gregory Hofmann and Scott Harrington. The Blue Jackets won 2-1 in overtime with a Patrik Laine goal, made possible by helped along by Zach Werenski and Max Domi.The three stars were Laine, Robinson, and Merzlikins (19 for 20 in saves).

South to Nashville, as the Predators host the Carolina Hurricanes. Frederik Andersen and Juuse Saros tend the twines. Carolina drew first blood in the first period with a Jesper Fast goal, his second of the season, coming off of Jordan Staal and Jaccob Slavin. Nashville tied it in the second period with a Ryan Johansen goal, going in unassisted. The Hurricanes took the lead in the third period with an Andrei Svechnikov goal, his third of the year, via Martin Necas and Brett Pesce. Carolina added on with a Teuvo Teravainen empty net goal, his second of the season, set up by Pesce and Sebastian Aho. The Predators shot back with a Filip Forsberg goal, made possible by Mattias Ekholm and Johansen. This only made it 3-2, the final, with the three stars given to Pesce, Andersen (38 for 40 in saves), and Johansen.

Out west, the Colorado Avalanche welcome the St. Louis Blues. Jordan Binnington and Darcy Kuemper patrol the creases. St. Louis kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Justin Faulk goal, via Jordan Kyrou and Tyler Bozak. The Blues added on in the second period with a Brayden Schenn goal, made possible by Kyrou and Pavel Buchnevich. St. Louis extended the lead as David Perron scored, thanks to Brandon Saad and Colton Parayko. Colorado got on the board with an Andre Burakovsky goal, helped along by Nazem Kadri and Samuel Girard. The Blues responded in the third period with a Perron power play goal, his second of the game, powered by Ivan Barbashev and Faulk. The Avalanche got one back with a Tyson Jost goal, coming off of J.T. Compher and Mikko Rantanen. Colorado pulled closer on a Compher goal, passed from Kadri and Cale Makar. St. Louis iced it at 5-3 with a Ryan O'Reilly empty net goal, going in unassisted. The three stars were Perron, Faulk, and Kyrou, while Compher and Kadri get the honorable mentions.

Up in Edmonton, the Oilers bring in the Calgary Flames. Jacob Markstrom and Mike Smith protect the nets. Edmonton started in the first period with a Derek Ryan goal, passed from Warren Foegele and Zack Kassian. The Oilers added on with a power play goal by Connor McDavid, powered by Jesse Puljujarvi and Leon Draisaitl. Edmonton extended the lead as McDavid scored another power play goal in the second period, with the help of Darnell Nurse and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Calgary got on the board with an Andrew Mangiapane goal, helped along by Dillon Dube and Juuso Valimaki. The Flames got closer with an Elias Lindholm goal in the third period, assisted by Matthew Tkachuk and Rasmus Andersson on the power play. The Oilers fired back with a Puljujarvi goal, his second of the season, guided in by Cody Ceci and Draisaitl. Edmonton iced it at 5-2 with a McDavid empty net goal to complete his hat trick, set up by Puljujarvi and Draisaitl. The three stars were handed to McDavid, Puljujarvi, and Draisaitl.

To California, as the San Jose Sharks welcome the Winnipeg Jets. Connor Hellebuyck and Adin Hill have the green light to start in goal. Winnipeg opened in the first period with a Pierre-Luc Dubois goal, made possible by Brenden Dillon and Neal Pionk. The Jets added on in the second period with an Andrew Copp shorthanded goal, set up by Adam Lowry. San Jose got on the board with an Andrew Cogliano shorthanded goal, with helpers from Logan Couture and Brent Burns. The Sharks tied it with a Jasper Weatherby power play goal, powered by Erik Karlsson and Kevin Labanc. San Jose pulled ahead with a Tomas Hertl power play goal, with assists by Weatherby and William Eklund. The Sharks extended the lead as Rudolfs Balcers scored, with the help of Timo Meier and Hertl. Winnipeg got one back with a Jansen Harkins goal, courtesy of Logan Stanley and Josh Morrissey. This only made it 4-3, the final, with the three stars going to Weatherby, Hertl, and Balcers.

Finally, the Los Angeles Kings bring in the Minnesota Wild. Cam Talbot and Jonathan Quick are the veterans in goal. Los Angeles got going in the second period with a Viktor Arvidsson power play goal, powered by Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty. Minnesota tied it on a Frederick Gaudreau goal, via Kevin Fiala and Dmitry Kulikov. The Wild took the lead with a Victor Rask goal, helped along by Kirill Kaprizov. Minnesota added on with a Ryan Hartman goal, assisted by Marcus Foligno and Jordan Greenway. The Kings got one back with a Kopitar goal, his fourth of the season, guided in by Doughty and the goalie Quick. This only made it 3-2, the final, with the three stars given to Kopitar, Doughty, and Hartman.
