NHL 2021-22 - Day 14

Seven games on for a Monday slate. First up...

The Buffalo Sabres host the Tampa Bay Lightning. Brian Elliott and Craig Anderson are the veterans in goal. Buffalo led off in the first period with a Victor Olofsson goal, his third of the season, made possible by Tage Thompson and Robert Hagg. Tampa Bay tied it on an Alex Killorn goal, his third of the year, guided in by Ryan McDonagh and Mathieu Joseph. The Sabres took the lead in the second period with a Drake Caggiula goal, going in unassisted. Buffalo added on in the third period with an unassisted Vinnie Hinostroza goal. The Sabres extended the lead as Hagg scored an empty net goal, thanks to Zemgus Girgensons. Buffalo iced it at 5-1 with an Olofsson empty net goal, his second of the game and fourth of the campaign, set up by Rasmus Asplund and Thompson. The three stars were Olofsson, Anderson (35 for 36 in saves), and Hagg, while Thompson gets an honorable mention. 

Down in Raleigh, the Carolina Hurricanes welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jack Campbell and Frederik Andersen are the former teammates in goal. Toronto began in the first period with an Auston Matthews goal, via Michael Bunting. Carolina tied it on a Sebastian Aho goal, his fourth of the season, made possible by Ethan Bear and Andrei Svechnikov. The Hurricanes took the lead with a Steven Lorentz goal, coming off of Jordan Martinook. Carolina added on with a Nino Niederreiter goal, his second of the year, guided in by Jaccob Slavin. The Hurricanes finished it at 4-1 with a Svechnikov empty net goal in the third period, his fifth of the campaign, set up by Slavin. The three stars went to Andersen (24 for 25 in saves), Svechnikov, and Slavin.

Back north, the New York Rangers bring in the Calgary Flames. Jacob Markstrom and Igor Shesterkin guard the cages. Calgary opened in the first period with a Christopher Tanev goal, assisted by Johnny Gaudreau and Elias Lindholm. The Flames added on in the second period with an Andrew Mangiapane goal, his fourth of the season, going in unassisted. New York got on the board in the third period with a Dryden Hunt goal, via Jacob Trouba and K'Andre Miller. Calgary shot back with a Blake Coleman goal, his second of the year, helped along by Mikael Backlund and Tyler Pitlick. The Flames extended the lead as Backlund scored, thanks to Coleman and Noah Hanifin. Calgary iced it at 5-1 with a Mangiapane power play goal, his second of the game and fifth of the campaign, powered by Rasmus Andersson and Dillon Dube. The three stars belonged to Mangiapane, Coleman, and Backlund.

In Canada, the Ottawa Senators host the Washington Capitals. Ilya Samsonov and Anton Forsberg receive the starting nods in goal. Ottawa started in the first period with an unassisted Drake Batherson goal, his second of the season. Washington tied it on a T.J. Oshie goal, his second of the year, guided in by Trevor van Riemsdyk. The Capitals took the lead on another Oshie goal, his second of the game and third of the season, fueled by Anthony Mantha and Connor McMichael. Washington added on with a Nick Jensen goal, his second of the year, coming off of Dmitry Orlov and Conor Sheary. The Capitals extended the lead as John Carlson scored, thanks to Lars Eller and Martin Fehervary. Filip Gustavsson replaced Forsberg in goal. The Senators got one back in the second period with a Josh Norris goal, his third of the season, helped along by Artem Zub and Batherson. Ottawa got closer with a Chris Tierney power play goal, his fourth of the year, powered by Tyler Ennis and Thomas Chabot. The Senators tied it on another Batherson goal, his second of the game and third of the season, courtesy of Brady Tkachuk. Washington retook the lead with an Alex Ovechkin goal, his sixth of the year, going in unassisted. The Capitals padded the lead when Oshie completed his hat trick on his fourth of the season, with a helper from McMichael. Ottawa pulled one back in the third period when Batherson completed his hat trick on his fourth of the year, with the help of Norris and Chabot. Washington capped it at 7-5 with another Ovechkin goal, his second of the game and seventh of the campaign, with a lone assist by Tom Wilson. The three stars went to Oshie, Batherson, and Ovechkin, while Norris, McMichael, and Chabot get the honorable mentions.

Way south to Florida, as the Panthers welcome the Arizona Coyotes. Carter Hutton is mismatched with Spencer Knight in goal. Arizona struck first in the first period with a Clayton Keller goal, his third of the season, made possible by Nick Schmaltz. Florida tied it on a Joe Thornton power play goal, powered by Sam Reinhart and Brandon Montour. Karel Vejmelka relieved an injured Hutton in the second period. The Panthers took the lead in the second period with a Frank Vatrano goal, via Montour and Patric Hornqvist. Florida added on with an Aaron Ekblad power play goal, his third of the year, assisted by Jonathan Huberdeau and Sam Bennett. The Panthers extended the lead in the third period as Huberdeau scored his third of the season, thanks to Bennett and Owen Tippett. The Coyotes got one back with a Liam O'Brien goal, passed from Christian Fischer and Anton Stralman. Arizona got closer with a Phil Kessel goal, coming off of Ilya Lyubushkin and Johan Larsson. Florida iced it at 5-3 with an Anthony Duclair empty net goal, his fourth of the year, set up by MacKenzie Weegar and Aleksander Barkov. The three stars were Huberdeau, Bennett, and Montour.

Along to Columbus, as the Blue Jackets bring in the Dallas Stars. Braden Holtby and Elvis Merzlikins man the nets. Columbus kicked off the scoring in the first period with an Oliver Bjorkstrand goal, his third of the season, helped along by Jack Roslovic and Gregory Hofmann. The Blue Jackets added on in the second period with a Hofmann goal, fueled by Bjorkstrand. Columbus extended the lead in the third period as Zach Werenski scored his second of the year, thanks to Sean Kuraly and Eric Robinson. Dallas got on the board with a Tyler Seguin goal, his second of the season, via Esa Lindell and Ryan Suter. The Blue Jackets iced it at 4-1 with an Alexandre Texier empty net goal, his second of the year, set up by Werenski. The three stars were handed to Bjorkstrand, Hofmann, and Werenski.

Finally, the St. Louis Blues host the Los Angeles Kings. Jonathan Quick and Ville Husso are the backups in goal. St. Louis dented the scoreboard in the third period with a Vladimir Tarasenko goal, his second of the season, assisted by Torey Krug and Robert Thomas. The Blues added on with another Tarasenko goal, his second of the game and third of the year, with a lone helper by Ivan Barbashev. St. Louis iced it at 3-0 with a David Perron empty net goal, his sixth of the campaign, set up by Ryan O'Reilly and Marco Scandella. The three stars were awarded to Husso (34 save shutout), Tarasenko, and Perron.

NHL 2021-22 - Day 13

There's four games spread throughout Sunday. First up...

The Boston Bruins host the San Jose Sharks. Adin Hill and Linus Ullmark are the goalies. Boston led off in the first period with a Brad Marchand goal, his fourth of the season, coming off of Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak. The Bruins added on with a Derek Forbort goal, via Marchand and Connor Clifton. Boston extended the lead on a Pastrnak power play goal, his second of the year, powered by Bergeron. San Jose got on the board with a Jasper Weatherby goal, his second of the season, courtesy of Jonah Gadjovich and Andrew Cogliano. The Bruins replied in the second period with a Jake DeBrusk goal, his second of the year, assisted by Oskar Steen and Forbort. James Reimer replaced Hill in goal. The Sharks got one back in the third period with a Tomas Hertl goal, his second of the season, made possible by Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Alexander Barabanov. San Jose got closer with a Timo Meier goal, his third of the year, guided in by Logan Couture and Brent Burns. This only made it 4-3, the final, with the three stars going to Marchand, Pastrnak, and Forbort, while Bergeron gets an honorable mention. 

Over in Minnesota, the Wild welcome the Nashville Predators. Connor Ingram and Kaapo Kahkonen are the backups in goal. Nashville began in the first period with a Roman Josi power play goal, his third of the season, powered by Matt Duchene and Mikael Granlund. The Predators added on with a Ryan Johansen power play goal, his second of the year, with assists provided by Filip Forsberg and Josi. Nashville extended the lead as Johansen scored his second of the game and third of the season, thanks to Josi and Duchene. Minnesota got on the board in the second period with a Nick Bjugstad goal, via Jon Merrill. The Predators replied with a Forsberg goal, his second of the year, assisted by Josi and Duchene. Nashville padded the lead on a Tanner Jeannot goal, his second of the season, coming off of Yakov Trenin and Colton Sissons. The Wild pulled one back on a Nico Sturm goal, helped along by Brandon Duhaime. That was it for the scoring in the 5-2 game, with the three stars given to Josi, Johansen, and Duchene, while Forsberg gets an honorable mention.

In Chicago, the Blackhawks bring in the Detroit Red Wings. Alex Nedeljkovic and Marc-Andre Fleury are in the blue paint. Detroit started in the first period with a Lucas Raymond goal, his second of the season, assisted by Tyler Bertuzzi. Chicago tied it on a Tyler Johnson goal, fueled by Jonathan Toews and Jake McCabe. The Red Wings retook the lead in the second period with a Carter Rowney goal, coming off of Michael Rasmussen and Mitchell Stephens. Detroit added on with a Vladislav Namestnikov goal, his third of the year, helped along by Stephens and Filip Zadina. The Red Wings extended the lead as Bertuzzi scored his sixth of the season, thanks to Dylan Larkin and Raymond. The Blackhawks got one back with a Dominik Kubalik power play goal, his third of the year, powered by Seth Jones and Toews. Detroit answered on a Raymond goal, his second of the game and third of the season, made possible by Larkin and Bertuzzi. Chicago shot back in the third period with a Henrik Borgstrom goal, courtesy of Dylan Strome and Adam Gaudette. The Red Wings countered on a Raymond power play goal to complete his hat trick on his fourth of the year, with helpers from Larkin and Moritz Seider. This stood for a 6-3 win, with the three stars going to Raymond, Bertuzzi, and Larkin, while Stephens and Toews receive the honorable mentions. 

Finally, the Vegas Golden Knights host the New York Islanders. Ilya Sorokin and Robin Lehner are the masked men. New York opened in the first period with a Josh Bailey goal, via Jean-Gabriel Pageau. The Islanders added on in the third period with a Mathew Barzal goal, his third of the season, courtesy of Bailey. This held for a 2-0 win, with the three stars going to Sorokin (42 save shutout), Bailey, and Barzal.

NHL 2021-22 - Day 12

There's 13 games on today, including a pair of matinees. The action begins with...

The Ottawa Senators hosting the New York Rangers. Alexandar Georgiev and Matt Murray make the starts in goal. Ottawa started in the first period with a Nick Paul goal, his second of the season, assisted by Tim Stutzle and Connor Brown. The Senators added on in the third period with a Josh Norris goal, his second of the year, going in unassisted. New York got on the board with a Chris Kreider power play goal, his fourth of the season, powered by Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad. Anton Forsberg replaced Murray in goal. The Rangers tied it with a Ryan Lindgren goal, via Adam Fox and Kreider. New York won 3-2 with a Barclay Goodrow goal, his second of the year, passed from Sammy Blais and Jacob Trouba. The three stars were Kreider, Goodrow, and Lindgren.

Along to Washington, as the Capitals welcome the Calgary Flames. Dan Vladar and Vitek Vanecek draw the starts in goal. Calgary opened in the first period with an Andrew Mangiapane power play goal, his third of the season, powered by Milan Lucic and Noah Hanifin. The Flames added on with an Elias Lindholm goal, his fourth of the year, guided in by Johnny Gaudreau. Calgary extended the lead as Lindholm scored a shorthanded and unassisted goal, his second of the game and fifth of the season. Ilya Samsonov replaced Vanecek in goal for the second period. Washington got on the board with an Evgeny Kuznetsov shorthanded goal, his fourth of the year, going in unassisted. The Capitals got closer with a Martin Fehervary goal, coming off of Tom Wilson and Alex Ovechkin. Washington tied it with an unassisted Ovechkin goal, his fifth of the season. The Flames won 4-3 in overtime with a Lindholm goal to complete his hat trick on his sixth of the year, set up by Gaudreau and the goalie Vladar. The three stars were Lindholm, Gaudreau, and Ovechkin. 

Westward to Minnesota, as the Wild bring in the Anaheim Ducks. John Gibson and Cam Talbot protect the nets. Anaheim led off in the first period with a Rickard Rakell goal, his third of the season, coming off of Hampus Lindholm and Adam Henrique. Minnesota tied it on a Brandon Duhaime goal, assisted by Nico Sturm and Matt Dumba. The Wild took the lead with a Jared Spurgeon goal, guided in by Alex Goligoski and Jordan Greenway. The Ducks retied it on a Troy Terry goal, his second of the year, via Lindholm and Ryan Getzlaf. Anaheim took the lead in the second period with a Rakell power play goal, his second of the game and fourth of the season, powered by Jamie Drysdale and Getzlaf. Minnesota retied it on a Jon Merrill goal, helped along by Marcus Foligno. The Wild won 4-3 in overtime with a Ryan Hartman goal, his second of the year, fueled by Mats Zuccarello and Jonas Brodin. The three stars were Hartman, Rakell, and Lindholm, while Getzlaf gets an honorable mention.

Back east, the Montreal Canadiens host the Detroit Red Wings. Thomas Greiss and Jake Allen are in the blue paint. Detroit was first to score in the first period with a Dylan Larkin power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Moritz Seider. Montreal tied it on a Ben Chiarot goal, fueled by Jonathan Drouin and David Savard. The Canadiens took the lead with a Mike Hoffman power play goal, coming off of Sami Niku and Christian Dvorak. Montreal added on with a Dvorak goal, courtesy of Niku and Drouin. The Canadiens extended the lead as Mathieu Perreault scored an unassisted goal. Montreal padded the lead on another Perreault goal, his second of the game, made possible by Tyler Toffoli and Cole Caufield. Alex Nedeljkovic replaced Greiss in goal. The Canadiens continued in the third period with Perreault finishing his hat trick, with the help of Chiarot into an empty net. The final was 6-1, and the three stars went to Perreault, Dvorak, and Niku, while Drouin gets an honorable mention.

Down south, the Tampa Bay Lightning welcome the Colorado Avalanche. Darcy Kuemper and Andrei Vasilevskiy tend the twines. Colorado kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Gabriel Landeskog goal, his second of the season, made possible by Nathan MacKinnon and Bowen Byram. Tampa Bay tied it in the second period with a Mathieu Joseph goal, via Anthony Cirelli and Alex Killorn. The Avalanche took the lead back with a Mikko Rantanen goal, his third of the year, assisted by MacKinnon and Cale Makar. The Lightning tied it in the third period with a Steven Stamkos goal, his fourth of the season, coming off of Ondrej Palat and Ryan McDonagh. Colorado retook the lead with a MacKinnon power play goal, powered by Makar and Landeskog. Tampa Bay tied it again on a Brayden Point goal, his second of the year, courtesy of Victor Hedman and Stamkos. The tie lasted to a shootout, where Rantanen, Landeskog and Makar lifted the Avalanche 4-3 over Hedman, Stamkos, and the Lightning. The three stars went to MacKinnon, Landeskog, and Makar, while Stamkos gets an honorable mention.

North again to New Jersey, where the Devils bring in the Buffalo Sabres. Dustin Tokarski and Nico Daws are the backups in goal. Buffalo began in the first period with a Dylan Cozens power play goal, powered by Jacob Bryson and Kyle Okposo. New Jersey tied it on a Nico Hischier power play goal, with assists provided by Dougie Hamilton and Tomas Tatar. The Devils won 2-1 in overtime with a Pavel Zacha goal, his second of the season, via Damon Severson. The three stars were awarded to Daws (24 for 25 in saves), Zacha, and Hischier.

In Philadelphia, the Flyers host the Florida Panthers. Sergei Bobrovsky and Carter Hart are the masked men. Florida dented the scoreboard in the first period with a Jonathan Huberdeau power play goal, powered by Aaron Ekblad and Patric Hornqvist. Philadelphia tied it in the second period with a Claude Giroux power play goal, his third of the season, with assists provided by Sean Couturier. The Flyers took the lead with a shorthanded Cam Atkinson goal, his fourth of the year, going in unassisted. The Panthers tied it on an Owen Tippett goal, guided in by MacKenzie Weegar and Huberdeau. Florida took the lead in the third period with a Huberdeau shorthanded goal, his second of the game, set up by Sam Bennett. The Panthers iced it at 4-2 with an empty net goal by Sam Reinhart, his  of the campaign, with helpers from Anton Lundell and Mason Marchment. The Penguins took the lead in the second period with a Mike Matheson goal, coming off of Kasperi Kapanen. Pittsburgh added on with a Jason Zucker goal, his second of the season, made possible by Danton Heinen. The Penguins extended the lead as O'Connor scored his second of the game and third of the year, helped along by Heinen and Pettersson. Pittsburgh padded the lead on a Pettersson goal, via Evan Rodrigues and Jake Guentzel. Michael Hutchinson replaced Campbell in goal for the third period. The Penguins continued in the third period with a Brian Boyle goal, his second of the season, fueled by Dominik Simon. Pittsburgh kept going with a Rodrigues power play goal, his third of the year, powered by Matheson and Kapanen. This made it 7-1, the final, with the three stars awarded to Pettersson, O'Connor, and Matheson, while Rodrigues, Heinen, and Kapanen get the honorable mentions.

Carolina replied with a Staal power play goal, courtesy of Brett Pesce and Jesperi Kotkaniemi. The Hurricanes extended the lead in the third period as Sebastian Aho scored his third of the season on the power play, thanks to Trocheck and Teuvo Teravainen. Carolina padded the lead with a Trocheck goal, his second of the game, with helpers from Svechnikov and Jaccob Slavin. This stood for a 5-1 win, with the three stars handed to Trocheck, Staal, and Svechnikov.

In Canada again, the Winnipeg Jets host the Nashville Predators. Juuse Saros and Connor Hellebuyck guard the cages. Nashville struck first in the first period with a Colton Sissons goal, assisted by Tanner Jeannot and Nick Cousins. Winnipeg tied it on an Adam Lowry goal, fueled by Dylan DeMelo and Jansen Harkins. The Jets took the lead in the second period with a Pierre-Luc Dubois goal, his fourth of the season, coming off of Nate Schmidt and Evgeny Svechnikov. Winnipeg added on with a Paul Stastny power play goal, powered by Kyle Connor and Neal Pionk. The Predators got one back with a Cousins power play goal, with assists provided by Thomas Novak and Philip Tomasino. The Jets answered with a Kristian Vesalainen goal, passed from Schmidt and Dubois. Nashville pulled one back with a Roman Josi goal in the third period, his second of the season made possible by Dante Fabbro and Novak. Winnipeg answered with a Stastny goal, his second of the game, helped along by Pionk and Brenden Dillon. The Jets extended the lead as Connor scored on the power play, his sixth of the year, thanks to Schmidt and Nikolaj Ehlers. The Predators responded with a Tomasino power play goal, his second of the campaign, with helpers from Cousins and Novak. This made it 6-4, the final, with the three stars given to Stastny, Connor, and Dubois, while Schmidt, Pionk, Cousins, Novak, and Tomasino get the honorable mentions.

Stateside, the St. Louis Blues welcome the Los Angeles Kings. Cal Petersen and Jordan Binnington are the steady netminders. Los Angeles got going in the first period with an Alex Iafallo goal, helped along by Alexander Edler. St. Louis tied it on a David Perron power play goal, his third of the season, powered by Torey Krug and Vladimir Tarasenko. The Blues took the lead with an Ivan Barbashev shorthanded goal, his third of the year, set up by Marco Scandella. St. Louis added on in the second period with another Perron goal, his second of the game and fourth of the season, assisted by Krug and Klim Kostin. The Blues extended the lead as Jake Neighbours scored, thanks to Brayden Schenn and Kyle Clifford. St. Louis padded the lead on a Ryan O'Reilly power play goal, his second of the year, with assists provided by Schenn and Perron. The Blues continued in the third period with a James Neal power play goal, coming off of Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou. The Kings got one back with a Dustin Brown goal, his second of the season, via Sean Walker and Viktor Arvidsson. Southwest to Arizona, as the Coyotes bring in the New York Islanders. Ilya Sorokin and Karel Vejmelka are in the creases. New York opened in the first period with a Cal Clutterbuck goal, his second of the season, with a lone helper from Adam Pelech. The Islanders added on in the second period with a Brock Nelson power play goal, his second of the year, powered by Josh Bailey and Noah Dobson. New York extended the lead as Anthony Beauvillier scored his second of the season in the third period, thanks to Nelson and Kyle Palmieri. This stood for a 3-0 win, with the three stars awarded to Sorokin (26 save shutout), Nelson, and Clutterbuck.

Finally, the Seattle Kraken host the Vancouver Canucks. Thatcher Demko and Philipp Grubauer will be in goal. Seattle started in the first period with a Vince Dunn goal, assisted by Adam Larsson and Joonas Donskoi. Vancouver tied it in the second period with a Bo Horvat goal, his second of the season, made possible by Conor Garland. The Kraken took the lead back in the third period with a Mark Giordano goal, via Jared McCann and Alex Wennberg. The Canucks tied it again on a Horvat power play goal, his second of the game and third of the year, powered by Quinn Hughes and J.T. Miller. Vancouver pulled ahead with a Garland goal, his third of the season, going in unassisted. The Canucks iced it at 4-2 with a Justin Dowling empty net goal, his second of the year, set up by Brock Boeser and Miller. The three stars were Horvat, Garland, and Miller.

NHL 2021-22 - Day 11

Four games on for a Friday night, beginning with...

The Toronto Maple Leafs hosting the San Jose Sharks. Adin Hill and Michael Hutchinson are the lesser-known goalies. San Jose got going in the second period with a Logan Couture goal, his second of the season, helped along by Marc-Edouard Vlasic. Toronto tied it on a Jason Spezza goal, his second of the year, via Pierre Engvall and Wayne Simmonds. The Sharks retook the lead with a Timo Meier goal, his second of the season, going in unassisted. The Maple Leafs tied it again with an Ondrej Kase goal, an unassisted tally. San Jose regained the lead with an Erik Karlsson goal, his second of the year, fueled by Jacob Middleton. The Sharks added on in the third period with a Jonathan Dahlen goal, his third of the season, guided in by Couture and Meier. Toronto shot back with a John Tavares goal, courtesy of William Nylander and Jake Muzzin. San Jose iced it at 5-3 with a Couture empty net goal, his second of the game and third of the year, set up by Andrew Cogliano. The three stars were Couture, Meier, and Karlsson.

Down in Dallas, the Stars bring in the Los Angeles Kings. Jonathan Quick and Braden Holtby are the veteran goalies. Los Angeles began in the first period with an Anze Kopitar goal, his sixth of the season, coming off of Viktor Arvidsson and Dustin Brown. Dallas tied it on a Tyler Seguin power play goal, powered by Ryan Suter and Miro Heiskanen. The Kings replied in the second period with a Gabriel Vilardi power play goal, with assists provided by Arthur Kaliyev and Sean Walker. The Stars tied it again in the third period with a Heiskanen power play goal, helped along by Joe Pavelski and Seguin. Dallas won 3-2 in overtime with a Denis Gurianov goal, set up by Heiskanen and Roope Hintz. The three stars were Heiskanen, Seguin, and Gurianov.

Finally, the Vegas Golden Knights host the Edmonton Oilers. Mikko Koskinen and Robin Lehner protect the nets. Vegas struck first in the first period with a Nicolas Roy goal, via Zach Whitecloud. Edmonton tied it on a Zach Hyman power play goal, his fourth of the season, powered by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. The Golden Knights answered in the second period with a Nolan Patrick goal, assisted by Dylan Coghlan and Brayden McNabb. The Oilers replied with a Hyman goal, his second of the game and fifth of the year, coming off of McDavid and Jesse Puljujarvi. Edmonton took the lead with a Draisaitl goal, his third of the season, guided in by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Kris Russell. Vegas tied it in the third period with a Nicolas Hague goal, fueled by Roy and Chandler Stephenson. The Oilers took the lead back with a Zack Kassian goal, his third of the year, with a lone helper from Duncan Keith. Edmonton iced it at 5-3 with a Draisaitl empty net goal, his second of the game and fourth of the campaign, going in unassisted. The three stars were Hyman, Draisaitl, and McDavid, while Roy gets an honorable mention.

NHL 2021-22 - Day 10

We've got ten games on tonight, beginning with...

The Montreal Canadiens hosting the Carolina Hurricanes. Frederik Andersen and Jake Allen will protect the nets. Carolina got going in the second period with a Sebastian Aho power play goal, powered by Teuvo Teravainen and Tony DeAngelo. The Hurricanes added on with an Andrei Svechnikov goal, his fourth of the season, coming off of Martin Necas and Vincent Trocheck. Montreal got on the board with a Tyler Toffoli power play goal, with assists provided by Nick Suzuki and Jonathan Drouin. Carolina replied in the third period with a Jesperi Kotkaniemi goal, made possible by Brady Skjei and Aho. The Hurricanes iced it at 4-1 with an Aho empty net goal, his second of the game, set up by Teravainen and Trocheck. The three stars were Aho, Andersen (27 for 28 in saves), and Teravainen, while Trocheck gets an honorable mention.

Over in Ottawa, the Senators welcome the San Jose Sharks. James Reimer and Matt Murray are the veteran goalies. Ottawa began in the first period with a Drake Batherson goal, assisted by Brady Tkachuk and Artem Zub. San Jose tied it in the second period with a Logan Couture goal, guided in by Brent Burns and Timo Meier. The Sharks took the lead with a Kevin Labanc power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Erik Karlsson and William Eklund. This stood for a 2-1 win, with the three stars belonging to Reimer (30 for 31 in saves), Labanc, and Couture.

Down in Florida, the Panthers bring in the Colorado Avalanche. Jonas Johansson is mismatched with Sergei Bobrovsky in goal. Florida started in the first period with a Sam Reinhart goal, fueled by Mason Marchment and Anton Lundell. Colorado tied it with a Mikko Rantanen goal, his second of the season, coming off of Samuel Girard and Nathan MacKinnon. The Panthers took the lead back with a Sam Bennett power play goal in the second period, his fourth of the year, powered by Aaron Ekblad and Jonathan Huberdeau. Florida added on with a Carter Verhaeghe goal, his third of the season, going in unassisted. The Panthers iced it at 4-1 with a Lundell empty net goal, his second of the year, set up by Marchment and Radko Gudas. The three stars belonged to Lundell, Bobrovsky (30 for 31 in saves), and Marchment.

Back north, the New Jersey Devils host the Washington Capitals. Vitek Vanecek and Scott Wedgewood are set to start in goal. Washington led off in the first period with an Anthony Mantha goal, his second of the season, coming off of Daniel Sprong and Trevor van Riemsdyk. The Capitals added on with a Dmitry Orlov goal, assisted by Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov. Washington extended the lead as Sprong scored in the second period, going in unassisted. The Capitals padded the lead in the third period with a Kuznetsov goal, his third of the year, made possible by Tom Wilson and Ovechkin. New Jersey got on the board with a Janne Kuokkaken power play goal, powered by Damon Severson and Yegor Sharangovich. This only made it 4-1, the final, with the three stars given to Sprong, Kuznetsov, and Vanecek (24 for 25 in saves), while Ovechkin gets an honorable mention.

Along to Columbus, as the Blue Jackets welcome the New York Islanders. Ilya Sorokin and Elvis Merzlikins are between the pipes. New York dented the scoreboard in the second period with a Scott Mayfield goal, going in unassisted. Columbus tied it on a Boone Jenner power play goal, his third of the season, powered by Oliver Bjorkstrand and Jakub Voracek. The Blue Jackets took the lead with a Cole Sillinger goal, made possible by Vladislav Gavrikov and Bjorkstrand. The Islanders retied it on a Mathew Barzal goal, his second of the year, assisted by Noah Dobson and Matt Martin. Columbus won 3-2 in overtime with a Patrik Laine goal, his second of the campaign, passed from Zach Werenski and Bjorkstrand. The three stars were Bjorkstrand, Laine, and Sillinger.

Up in Detroit, the Red Wings bring in the Calgary Flames. Jacob Markstrom and Alex Nedeljkovic are in the blue paint. Calgary opened in the first period with an Elias Lindholm goal, his third of the season, courtesy of Johnny Gaudreau and Erik Gudbranson. The Flames added on with an Andrew Mangiapane goal, his second of the year, fueled by Gudbranson and Dillon Dube. Calgary iced it at 3-0 with a Matthew Tkachuk empty net goal, going in unassisted. The three stars belonged to Markstrom (33 save shutout), Lindholm, and Gudbranson.

South to Nashville, as the Jets host the New York Rangers. Igor Shesterkin and Juuse Saros patrol the creases. New York struck first in the first period with a Filip Chytil goal, via Sammy Blais and Alexis Lafreniere. Nashville tied it in the second period with a Philip Tomasino goal, assisted by Ryan Johansen and Dante Fabbro. The Rangers took the lead back in the third period with a Lafreniere goal, his second of the season, coming off of Blais and Adam Fox. New York iced it at 3-1 with an empty net goal by Barclay Goodrow, going in unassisted. The three stars were Lafreniere, Shesterkin (28 for 29 in saves), and Blais.

In Canada again, the Winnipeg Jets welcome the Anaheim Ducks. John Gibson and Connor Hellebuyck tend the twines. Anaheim kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Troy Terry power play goal, powered by Cam Fowler and Kevin Shattenkirk. Winnipeg tied it on a Pierre-Luc Dubois goal, his third of the season, made possible by Kyle Connor and Evgeny Svechnikov. The Jets took the lead in the second period with an Andrew Copp goal, his third of the year, guided in by Nate Schmidt and Paul Stastny. Winnipeg added on in the third period with a Josh Morrissey power play goal, his second of the season, with assists provided by Schmidt and Dubois. The Jets extended the lead on a Kyle Connor empty net goal, his fourth of the year, going in unassisted. Winnipeg iced it at 5-1 with another unassisted Connor goal, his second of the game and fifth of the campaign. The three stars were Connor, Dubois, and Schmidt.

Stateside in Chicago, the Blackhawks bring in the Vancouver Canucks. Thatcher Demko and Kevin Lankinen draw the starts in goal. Vancouver drew first blood in the first period with a Jason Dickinson goal, helped along by Matthew Highmore and Nils Hoglander. Chicago tied it on an Alex DeBrincat power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Patrick Kane and Seth Jones. The Canucks took the lead back in the second period with a Tanner Pearson goal, fueled by Quinn Hughes and Conor Garland. Vancouver added on with a Brock Boeser power play goal, with assists provided by J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson. The Canucks iced it at 4-1 with a Garland empty net goal, his second of the year, set up by Tucker Poolman and Tyler Myers. The three stars were handed to Garland, Demko (29 for 30 in saves), and Pearson.

Finally, the Arizona Coyotes host the Edmonton Oilers. Mikko Koskinen and Karel Vejmelka receive the starting nods in goal. Edmonton cracked the scoresheet in the first period with a Warren Foegele goal, made possible by Zack Kassian and Evan Bouchard. The Oilers added on in the second period with a shorthanded Zach Hyman goal, his second of the season, set up by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Edmonton extended the lead as Connor McDavid scored his fifth of the year, thanks to Jesse Puljujarvi and Tyson Barrie. Arizona got on the board with a Dysin Mayo goal, fueled by Ryan Dzingel and Andrew Ladd. The Oilers shot back with a Hyman power play goal, his second of the game and third of the season, powered by McDavid and Nugent-Hopkins. Edmonton padded the lead on a McDavid power play goal, his second of the game and sixth of the year, with assists provided by Nugent-Hopkins and Barrie. This made it 5-1, the final, with the three stars given to McDavid, Hyman, and Nugent-Hopkins, while Barrie gets an honorable mention.

The Philadelphia Flyers welcoming the Boston Bruins. Jeremy Swayman and Martin Jones are the goalies. Philadelphia led off in the first period with a Cam Atkinson goal, his second of the season, assisted by Derick Brassard and Justin Braun. Boston tied it on a Karson Kuhlman goal, via Trent Frederic and Tomas Nosek. The Flyers took the lead back with Joel Farabee power play goal, his third of the year, powered by Brassard and Ryan Ellis. Philadelphia added on in the second period with a Scott Laughton goal, coming off of James van Riemsdyk and Keith Yandle. The Bruins got one back with a Taylor Hall goal, courtesy of Charlie McAvoy. Boston tied it on a Brad Marchand goal, his third of the season, guided in by David Pastrnak and McAvoy. The Flyers restored the lead on an Atkinson goal, his second of the game and third of the year, fueled by Farabee in the third period. The Blues took the lead in the third period with a Vladimir Tarasenko goal, passed from Jordan Kyrou and Brayden Schenn. St. Louis iced it at 3-1 with an Ivan Barbashev empty net goal, his second of the season, set up by Robert Thomas and Colton Parayko. The Buffalo Sabres hosting the Vancouver Canucks. Thatcher Demko and Craig Anderson are set to start in goal. Vancouver led off in the first period with a Bo Horvat goal, assisted by Tanner Pearson. Buffalo tied it on a Kyle Okposo goal, his second of the season, made possible by Zemgus Girgensons and Rasmus Dahlin. The Canucks took the lead with a Justin Dowling goal, helped along by Luke Schenn and J.T. Miller. The Sabres tied it in the second period with a Girgensons goal, his second of the year, via Okposo and Dylan Cozens. Buffalo took the lead with a Jeff Skinner goal, courtesy of Colin Miller and Cozens. The Sabres added on with a Tage Thompson goal, fueled by Will Butcher and Victor Olofsson. Buffalo iced it at 5-2 with a Rasmus Asplund empty net goal, going in unassisted. The three stars were Okposo, Girgensons, and Cozens.

The Panthers iced it at 4-1 with an Anthony Duclair empty net goal, his third of the year, set up by Barkov and Gustav Forsling. The three stars were Lundell, Reinhart, and Barkov.

Back north, the New Jersey Devils host the Seattle Kraken. Joey Daccord and Jonathan Bernier are in the blue paint. New Jersey opened in the first period with a Dawson Mercer goal, fueled by Tomas Tatar and Ryan Graves. The Devils added on with a Damon Severson goal, guided in by Jack Hughes and Graves. Seattle got on the board in the second period with a Riley Sheahan goal, via Adam Larsson and Vince Dunn. New Jersey replied with a Jimmy Vesey goal, assisted by Andreas Johnsson and Colton White. The Kraken got one back on a Jared McCann power play goal in the third period, his third of the season, powered by Mark Giordano and Yanni Gourde. The Devils iced it at 4-2 with a Pavel Zacha empty net goal, set up by Michael McLeod and Nico Hischier. The three stars were Graves, Vesey, and Severson.

Over in Pittsburgh, the Penguins welcome the Dallas Stars. Braden Holtby and Tristan Jarry guard the cages. Dallas struck first in the first period with a Michael Raffl goal, his second of the season, passed from Radek Faksa and Miro Heiskanen. Pittsburgh tied it in the second period with a John Marino goal, courtesy of Brock McGinn and Marcus Pettersson. The tie lasted to a shootout, where Joe Pavelski and Alexander Radulov tallied for a 2-1 Stars win over Jeff Carter and the Penguins. The three stars were Holtby (27 for 28 in saves), Jarry (28 for 29 in saves), and Raffl.

Washington started in the first period with an Evgeny Kuznetsov goal, helped along by John Carlson. Colorado tied it on a shorthanded J.T. Compher goal, his second of the season, going in unassisted. The Capitals took the lead back with a Nick Jensen goal, assisted by Dmitry Orlov and Tom Wilson. The Avalanche tied it in the second period with a Darren Helm goal, via Logan O'Connor and Bowen Byram. Washington took the lead again with an Anthony Mantha goal, made possible by Lars Eller. The Capitals added on with a Kuznetsov goal, his second of the game, passed from Wilson and Orlov. Washington extended the lead as Nic Dowd scored in the third period, thanks to Jensen and Carl Hagelin. Colorado got one back with a Mikko Rantanen power play goal, powered by Nathan MacKinnon and Compher. The Capitals answered with an Alex Ovechkin empty net goal, his fourth of the year, set up by Wilson and Kuznetsov to make it a 6-3 final.
