NHL 2022-23 - Day 23

It's a hefty Tuesday with 12 games on. First up...

The Tampa Bay Lightning host the Ottawa Senators. Anton Forsberg is mismatched with Andrei Vasilevskiy in goal. Ottawa started in the first period with a Dylan Gambrell goal, going in unassisted. Tampa Bay tied it on a Mikhail Sergachev power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov in the second period. The Senators retook the lead with a Mathieu Joseph shorthanded goal, going in unassisted. The Lightning retied it in the third period with an Alex Killorn goal, his third of the year, helped along by Stamkos and Nick Paul. Ottawa retook the lead on a Claude Giroux goal, his third of the season, made possible by Brady Tkachuk. Tampa Bay tied it again with a Brayden Point goal, his fifth of the year, guided in by Kucherov and Ian Cole. The Lightning pulled ahead on a Kucherov goal, his fourth of the season, via Sergachev and Point. The final held at 4-3, with the three stars being Kucherov, Point, and Sergachev, while Stamkos gets an honorable mention.

Up in New York, the Rangers welcome the Philadelphia Flyers. Carter Hart and Igor Shesterkin protect the nets. New York won 1-0 in overtime with a Chris Kreider goal, his fourth of the season, via Mika Zibanejad. The three stars were Shesterkin (19 save shutout), Kreider, and Hart (35 for 36 in saves).

To DC, as the Washington Capitals bring in the Vegas Golden Knights. Logan Thompson and Charlie Lindgren make the starts in goal. Washington opened in the first period with a Marcus Johansson power play goal, his third of the season, powered by Dylan Strome and Alex Ovechkin. Vegas tied it on a Jack Eichel power play goal, his fifth of the year, with assists provided by Chandler Stephenson and Alex Pietrangelo. The Capitals took the lead with a Trevor van Riemsdyk goal in the second period, via Strome. The Golden Knights tied it on a William Carrier goal, his second of the season, made possible by William Karlsson and Pietrangelo. Vegas won 3-2 in overtime with a Shea Theodore goal, his third of the year, helped along by Eichel and Pietrangelo. The three stars were Eichel, Pietrangelo, and Strome.

Along to Pittsburgh, as the Penguins host the Boston Bruins. Linus Ullmark and Tristan Jarry tend the twines. Pittsburgh led off in the first period with a Sidney Crosby goal, his fifth of the season, going in unassisted. Boston tied it on a Charlie Coyle goal, his fourth of the year, coming off of Trent Frederic and A.J. Greer. The Bruins took the lead with a Jakub Lauko goal, assisted by Nick Foligno. The Penguins retied it in the second period with an Evgeni Malkin goal, his fifth of the season, via Pierre-Olivier Joseph and Brock McGinn. Pittsburgh took the lead with a Josh Archibald goal, his second of the year, courtesy of McGinn and Jan Rutta. The Penguins added on with a Bryan Rust goal, his fourth of the season, fueled by Brian Dumoulin and Jake Guentzel. Pittsburgh extended the lead as Rickard Rakell scored his fifth of the year, thanks to Jason Zucker and Malkin. Jeremy Swayman replaced Ullmark in goal. Boston got one back with a Brad Marchand power play goal, his third of the season, with assists provided by Hampus Lindholm and Jake DeBrusk. Swayman exited the game hurt and Ullmark returned in the third period. The Bruins got closer with a Pavel Zacha goal, his second of the year, guided in by Lindholm and Brandon Carlo. Boston tied it on a Taylor Hall goal, his fifth of the season, passed from David Pastrnak and Lindholm. The Bruins won 6-5 in overtime with a Lindholm goal, his third of the year, made possible by Patrice Bergeron. The three stars were Lindholm, Malkin, and McGinn.

Westward to Minnesota, with the Wild welcoming the Montreal Canadiens. Jake Allen and Marc-Andre Fleury are the veteran goalies. Minnesota got going in the second period with a Mason Shaw goal, his second of the season, passed from Joel Eriksson Ek. The Wild added on with a Kirill Kaprizov power play goal, his seventh of the year, powered by Matt Boldy and Eriksson Ek. Minnesota extended the lead as Kaprizov scored his second of the game and eighth of the season, thanks to Marco Rossi and Tyson Jost. Montreal got on the board in the third period with a Nick Suzuki power play goal, his fifth of the year, with assists provided by Kirby Dach and Chris Wideman. The Wild iced it at 4-1 with a Boldy empty net goal, his sixth of the campaign, set up by Connor Dewar and Jared Spurgeon. The three stars belonged to Kaprizov, Boldy, and Eriksson Ek.

Down in Chicago, the Blackhawks bring in the New York Islanders. Ilya Sorokin and Alex Stalock receive the starts in goal, but Stalock left with an injury and was replaced by Arvid Soderblom early in the first period. New York kicked off the scoring in the first period with an Anders Lee power play goal, his fifth of the season, powered by Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri. The Islanders added on in the third period with a Nelson goal, his fourth of the year, via Ross Johnston. Chicago got on the board with a Jonathan Toews power play goal, his sixth of the season, with assists provided by Caleb Jones and Patrick Kane. New York iced it at 3-1 with a Zach Parise empty net goal, his fourth of the year, set up by Josh Bailey. The three stars were Nelson, Sorokin (21 for 22 in saves), and Lee.

Further south, the Dallas Stars host the Los Angeles Kings. Cal Petersen and Scott Wedgewood are the backups in goal. Dallas began in the first period with a Roope Hintz power play goal, his fourth of the season, powered by Jamie Benn and Jason Robertson. Los Angeles tied it in the second period with a Kevin Fiala goal, his third of the year, via Carl Grundstrom and Drew Doughty. The Stars retook the lead with a Robertson power play goal, his fifth of the season, with assists provided by Miro Heiskanen and Hintz. Dallas added on with a Tyler Seguin goal, his third of the year, courtesy of Denis Gurianov and Heiskanen. The Stars extended the lead as Hintz scored his second of the game and fifth of the season, going in unassisted. The Kings got one back with an Arthur Kaliyev power play goal, his fourth of the year, with helpers from Viktor Arvidsson and Phillip Danault. Dallas responded with a Joe Pavelski power play goal, his fifth of the season, guided in by Benn and Robertson. This made it 5-2, the final, with the three stars going to Hintz, Robertson, and Heiskanen, while Benn gets an honorable mention.

Northwest to Calgary, as the Flames welcome the Seattle Kraken. Joey Daccord and Dan Vladar are set to start in goal. Seattle drew first blood in the first period with a Carson Soucy goal, via Andre Burakovsky and Oliver Bjorkstrand. Calgary tied it in the second period with a Nikita Zadorov goal, his second of the season, courtesy of Tyler Toffoli and Elias Lindholm. The Flames took the lead with a Nazem Kadri goal, his fifth of the year, passed from Mackenzie Weegar and Chris Tanev. The Kraken tied it again with a Morgan Geekie goal, his third of the season, assisted by Jamie Oleksiak. Calgary retook the lead in the third period with a Toffoli goal, his fourth of the year, guided in by Lindholm. The Flames added on with a Trevor Lewis goal, his second of the season, made possible by Brett Ritchie. Seattle got one back with a Daniel Sprong power play goal, his second of the year, powered by Alex Wennberg and Bjorkstrand. The Kraken tied it on a shorthanded and unassisted Yanni Gourde goal. Seattle took the lead with a Matty Beniers goal, his fifth of the season, fueled by Jordan Eberle. The final stood from here at 5-4, with the three stars being Bjorkstrand, Toffoli, and Lindholm.

Also in Alberta, the Edmonton Oilers bring in the Nashville Predators. Juuse Saros and Jack Campbell guard the cages. Nashville struck first in the first period with a Mattias Ekholm goal, via Matt Duchene and Mikael Granlund. Edmonton tied it on an Evander Kane goal, his third of the season, coming off of Leon Draisaitl and Darnell Nurse. The Oilers took the lead on another Kane goal, his second of the game and fourth of the year, passed from Draisaitl and Kailer Yamamoto. Edmonton added on with a Connor McDavid goal, his tenth of the season, made possible by Zach Hyman and Evan Bouchard. The Oilers extended the lead as Derek Ryan scored, thanks to Tyson Barrie and Devin Shore. Edmonton padded the lead on another McDavid goal, his second of the game and eleventh of the year, helped along by Draisaitl on the power play. The Predators got one back with a Ryan Johansen power play goal, his fourth of the season, powered by Roman Josi and Filip Forsberg. Nashville got closer in the third period with a Forsberg goal, his third of the year, assisted by Duchene and Granlund. The Oilers fired back with a Draisaitl power play goal, his fifth of the season, with helpers from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and McDavid. The Predators pulled one back with a Nino Niederreiter power play goal, his fifth of the year, dished from Granlund and Forsberg. Edmonton fired back with an empty net goal by Kane, completing his hat trick on his fifth of the season, set up by Draisaitl and McDavid. The final remained at 7-4, with the three stars awarded to Draisaitl, McDavid, and Kane, while Forsberg, Granlund, and Duchene get the honorable mentions.

Over in Vancouver, the Canucks host the New Jersey Devils. MacKenzie Blackwood and Thatcher Demko are the goalies. New Jersey was first to score in the first period with a Nico Hischier power play goal, his fifth of the season, powered by Jesper Bratt and Jack Hughes. The Devils added on with a Michael McLeod goal, via Nathan Bastian and Miles Wood. New Jersey extended the lead in the second period as Dawson Mercer scored his fourth of the year shorthanded, thanks to Yegor Sharangovich. The Devils padded the lead on a Sharangovich goal, his third of the season, passed from Jesper Boqvist and John Marino. Vancouver got on the board with a Bo Horvat power play goal, his seventh of the year, with assists provided by J.T. Miller and Quinn Hughes. The Canucks got closer with a Horvat power play goal in the third period, his second of the game and eighth of the season, helped along by Miller and Elias Pettersson. New Jersey iced it at 5-2 with a Jack Hughes empty net goal, his fourth of the year, set up by Tomas Tatar. The three stars were handed to Sharangovich, Horvat, and Jack Hughes, while Miller gets an honorable mention.

Way south to Arizona, where the Coyotes welcome the Florida Panthers. Spencer Knight takes on Karel Vejmelka in goal. Florida dented the scoreboard in the second period with a Colin White goal, his third of the season, via Josh Mahura and Sam Bennett. Arizona tied it on a Lawson Crouse power play goal, his fourth of the year, powered by Matias Maccelli and Dylan Guenther. The Coyotes took the lead in the third period with a Nick Ritchie power play goal, his fourth of the season, with assists provided by Clayton Keller and J.J. Moser. Arizona added on with a Keller empty net goal, his third of the year, set up by Christian Fischer and Patrik Nemeth. The three stars of the 3-1 game were Keller, Ritchie, and Crouse.

Finally, the San Jose Sharks bring in the Anaheim Ducks. Anthony Stolarz and Kaapo Kahkonen are in the blue paint. Anaheim cracked the scoresheet in the first period with an Adam Henrique goal, via Kevin Shattenkirk. San Jose tied it on an Erik Karlsson goal, his seventh of the season, assisted by Evgeny Svechnikov and Tomas Hertl. The Sharks took the lead with another Karlsson goal, his second of the game and eighth of the year, with helpers from Jaycob Megna and Nico Sturm. The Ducks tied it on a Frank Vatrano goal, his fourth of the season, made possible by Isac Lundestrom and Jakob Siflverberg. Anaheim retook the lead with a Henrique goal, his second of the game, fueled by Trevor Zegras and Shattenkirk. San Jose tied it in the second period with a Timo Meier power play goal, his second of the year, powered by Alexander Barabanov and Karlsson. The Ducks retook the lead with a Ryan Strome goal, his second of the season, coming off of John Klingberg and Troy Terry. The Sharks tied it again with a Meier goal, his second of the game and third of the year, going in unassisted. Anaheim regained the lead on a Max Comtois goal, his second of the season, helped along by Terry and Nathan Beaulieu. San Jose evened it with a Karlsson goal to complete his hat trick on his ninth of the year, thanks to Barabanov and Hertl. The tie went to a shootout, where Zegras and Terry lifted the Ducks to a 6-5 win over Logan Couture and the Sharks. The three stars were Karlsson, Henrique, and Meier, while Terry, Shattenkirk, Hertl, and Barabanov receive the honorable mentions.

NHL 2022-23 - Day 22

There's three games on Halloween this year, beginning with...

The Buffalo Sabres hosting the Detroit Red Wings. Alex Nedeljkovic and Eric Comrie receive the starts in goal. Buffalo led off in the first period with a Tage Thompson goal, his fourth of the season, via Jeff Skinner and Casey Ftizgerald. Detroit tied it in the second period with an Olli Maatta goal, his second of the year, fueled by Andrew Copp and Filip Hronek. The Sabres retook the lead with a Jack Quinn goal, helped along by Thompson and Kyle Okposo. Buffalo added on with a Skinner goal, his second of the season, with a lone assist by Thompson. The Sabres extended the lead as Thompson scored his second of the game and fifth of the year on the power play, thanks to Alex Tuch and Okposo. The Red Wings got one back with a David Perron goal, his fifth of the season, guided in by Joe Veleno and Moritz Seider. Detroit got closer in the third period shorthanded and unassisted Dylan Larkin goal, his fifth of the year. Buffalo fired back on a Rasmus Dahlin power play goal, his sixth of the season, powered by Casey Mittelstadt and Thompson. The Sabres padded the lead on a Dylan Cozens goal, his fourth of the year, with helpers from Owen Power and JJ Peterka. Buffalo continued as Thompson finished his hat trick on his sixth of the season, with the help of Skinner and Dahlin. The Sabres iced it at 8-3 with a Rasmus Asplund goal, courtesy of Peyton Krebs and Zemgus Girgensons.

Down in Raleigh, the Carolina Hurricanes welcome the Washington Capitals. Darcy Kuemper and Frederik Andersen guard the cages. Carolina began in the first period with a Stefan Noesen power play goal, powered by Brent Burns and Martin Necas. Washington tied it in the second period with a Dylan Strome goal, his second of the season, coming off of Nick Jensen and Conor Sheary. The Capitals took the lead on an Alex Ovechkin power play goal, his fifth of the year, assisted by Erik Gustafsson and Evgeny Kuznetsov. The Hurricanes retied it on an Andrei Svechnikov goal, his eighth of the campaign, helped along by Paul Stastny and Necas. The tie lasted to a shootout, where Burns and Svechnikov scored for the Hurricanes to give them a 3-2 win over Kuznetsov's lone tally for the Capitals. The three stars were Svechnikov, Burns, and Necas.

Finally, the St. Louis Blues bring in the Los Angeles Kings. Jonathan Quick and Jordan Binnington protect the nets. Los Angeles kicked off the scoring in the first period with a Gabriel Vilardi goal, his eighth of the season, assisted by Kevin Fiala and Adrian Kempe. The Kings added on in the second period with a Carl Grundstrom goal, his second of the year, via Rasmus Kupari and Fiala. Los Angeles extended the lead as Anze Kopitar scored his second of the season, thanks to Vilardi and Drew Doughty. The Kings padded the lead on an Arthur Kaliyev power play goal, his third of the year, powered by Trevor Moore and Viktor Arvidsson. Los Angeles chased Binnington with another Grundstrom goal, his second of the game and third of the season, guided in by Fiala and Matt Roy. St. Louis got on the board with an Alexey Toropchenko goal, made possible by Ivan Barbashev and Noel Acciari. The final held from here at 5-1, with the three stars given to Grundstrom, Fiala, and Vilardi.

The New Jersey Devils hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets. Elvis Merzlikins and Vitek Vanecek are the goalies. New Jersey opened in the first period with a Fabian Zetterlund goal, via Nico Hischier. The Devils added on in the second period with an unassisted Hischier goal, his fourth of the season. New Jersey extended the lead as Ryan Graves scored, thanks to Jesper Bratt and Jack Hughes. Columbus got on the board with a Yegor Chinakhov goal, his second of the year, helped along by Cole Sillinger. The Devils shot back on a John Marino goal, going in unassisted. New Jersey padded the lead in the third period with a Jonas Siegenthaler power play goal, powered by Dawson Mercer and Erik Haula. The Devils continued with a Bratt goal, his fourth of the season, made possible by Hughes and Tomas Tatar. New Jersey finished it at 7-1 with a Miles Wood goal, his second of the year, coming off of Nathan Bastian and Michael McLeod. The three stars were Bratt, Hischier, and Hughes.

Minnesota retied it on a Boldy goal, his second of the game and fifth of the year, helped along by Joel Eriksson Ek and Mason Shaw. Anaheim tied it on a Jakob Silfverberg goal, his third of the year, via Derek Grant and Isac Lundestrom. The Maple Leafs gained the lead with a Denis Malgin goal, his second of the season, made possible by Nylander and Nick Robertson. Toronto added on in the third period with a shorthanded Calle Jarnkrok goal, his second of the year, set up by Alexander Kerfoot and T.J. Brodie. The Ducks got one back with a Trevor Zegras goal, his fifth of the season, assisted by Troy Terry. Anaheim tied it on a Dmitry Kulikov goal, guided in by Frank Vatrano and Kevin Shattenkirk. The Ducks won 4-3 in overtime with a Zegras goal, his second of the game and sixth of the year, set up by Ryan Strome. The three stars were Zegras, Nylander, and Kulikov.

This stood for a 3-2 win, with the three stars given to Panarin, Guenther, and Zibanejad. 

Finally, the Vegas Golden Knights host the Winnipeg Jets. Connor Hellebuyck faces a lesser foe in Adin Hill in goal. Winnipeg dented the scoreboard in the third period with an Adam Lowry goal, his second of the season, assisted by Neal Pionk and Morgan Barron. Vegas tied it on a Mark Stone goal, his third of the year, passed from Jack Eichel. Dallas led off in the first period with a Mason Marchment goal, his fourth of the season, guided in by Tyler Seguin. New York tied it on a Chris Kreider goal, his third of the year, fueled by Kaapo Kakko and Braden Schneider. The Rangers pulled ahead in the second period with a Vincent Trocheck power play goal, his third of the season, powered by Mika Zibanejad and Adam Fox. The Stars retied it on a Roope Hintz goal, his third of the year, helped along by Joe Pavelski and Jason Robertson. Oettinger left the game hurt and was replaced by Scott Wedgewood in goal. New York reclaimed the lead with a Zibanejad power play goal, his fifth of the season, with assists provided by Artemi Panarin and Kreider. Dallas tied it again with a Robertson goal, his fourth of the year, going in unassisted. The Rangers retook the lead in the third period with a Zac Jones goal, assisted by Trocheck and Julien Gauthier. New York added on with a Gauthier goal, made possible by Sammy Blais and Jones. The Lightning regained the lead with a Killorn goal, his second of the year, coming off of Nick Paul and Erik Cernak. San Jose tied it once more with a Karlsson power play goal, his second of the game and sixth of the season, powered by Timo Meier and Hertl. The Lightning gained the lead with a Nikita Kucherov goal, his third of the year, with helpers from Hagel and Point. Over in Philadelphia, the Flyers bring in the Carolina Hurricanes. Antti Raanta and Carter Hart are the masked men. Carolina struck first in the first period with a Jordan Staal goal, via Brett Pesce and Brady Skjei. The Hurricanes added on with a Jordan Martinook goal, his second of the season, passed from Jesper Fast and Staal. Philadelphia got on the board with a Nicolas Deslauriers goal, coming off of Lukas Sedlak and Wade Allison in the second period. The Flyers tied it on an Owen Tippett power play goal, powered by Travis Konecny and Tony DeAngelo. Philadelphia took the lead in the third period with an Allison goal, his second of the year, assisted by Sedlak and Deslauriers. Carolina tied it on a Martin Necas goal, his fifth of the season, going in unassisted. The Hurricanes won 4-3 in overtime with a Brent Burns goal, his second of the year, with helpers from Sebastian Aho and Necas. The three stars were Necas, Staal, and Allison, while Deslauriers and Sedlak get the honorable mentions.

Southwest to St. Louis, as the Blues host the Montreal Canadiens. Jake Allen and Jordan Binnington are the former teammates in goal. St. Louis drew first blood in the first period with a Jordan Kyrou goal, his second of the season, via Brayden Schenn and Justin Faulk. Montreal tied it with a Nick Suzuki goal, his fourth of the year, made possible by Jordan Harris and Cole Caufield. The Blues took the lead in the second period with a Noel Acciari goal, passed from Tyler Pitlick and Torey Krug. St. Louis added on with another Kyrou goal, his second of the game and third of the season, assisted by Faulk and Schenn on the power play. The Canadiens got one back on a Caufield goal, his sixth of the year, coming off of Suzuki and Kirby Dach. Montreal tied it on a Juraj Slafkovsky power play goal, his second of the season, powered by Chris Wideman and Brendan Gallagher. The Canadiens gained the lead on a Caufield power play goal, his second of the game and seventh of the year, with assists provided by Suzuki and Dach. Montreal extended the lead as Christian Dvorak scored, going in unassisted. The Canadiens padded the lead as Dvorak scored again, thanks to Josh Anderson and Harris. The Blues pulled one back with a Vladimir Tarasenko goal, his third of the season, fueled by Robert Thomas. Montreal iced it at 7-4 with a Dvorak empty net goal to finish his hat trick, set up by Sean Monahan and Allen. To California again, as the Los Angeles Kings welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs. Ilya Samsonov and Cal Petersen are the veteran goalies. Los Angeles tied it in the second period with an Adrian Kempe power play goal, his sixth of the year, with assists provided by Kevin Fiala and Anze Kopitar. The Kings took the lead with a power play goal by Viktor Arvidsson, his second of the season, helped along by Phillip Danault. Los Angeles added on with a Gabriel Vilardi goal, his seventh of the year, made possible by Kopitar and Sean Durzi. The Maple Leafs got one back with a Pierre Engvall goal, fueled by David Kampf and Mark Giordano. The Kings fired back in the third period with a Fiala goal, his second of the season, going in unassisted. The final stood from here at 4-2, with the three stars being Fiala, Kopitar, and Petersen (26 for 28 in saves). 

Cross-country to New York, as the Islanders bring in the Colorado Avalanche. Alexandar Georgiev and Semyon Varlamov are in the blue paint. Colorado got going in the second period with an Evan Rodrigues power play goal, his third of the season, powered by Mikko Rantanen and Artturi Lehkonen. The Avalanche added on with a Rantanen goal, his fourth of the year, guided in by Josh Manson. Colorado extended the lead as Rodrigues scored his second of the game and fourth of the season, thanks to Nathan MacKinnon and Devon Toews. New York got on the board with a Noah Dobson goal, his third of the year, made possible by Alexander Romanov and Oliver Wahlstrom. The Islanders got closer in the third period with a Zach Parise goal, his third of the season, fueled by Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Ryan Pulock. The Islanders pulled ahead as Anthony Beauvillier scored his third of the season, with the help of Anders Lee. New York continued with a Brock Nelson empty net goal, his third of the year, going in unassisted. The Avalanche got one back with an Alex Newhook goal, helped along by Rodrigues and Cale Makar. The three stars were of the 5-4 game were Rodrigues, Rantanen, and Nelson.

Down in Nashville, the Predators host the Washington Capitals. Darcy Kuemper and Juuse Saros guard the cages. Washington dented the scoreboard in the second period with a Beck Malenstyn goal, courtesy of Nic Dowd. The Capitals added on in the third period with an Aliaksei Protas goal, his second of the season, via Conor Sheary and Nick Jensen. Washington iced it at 3-0 with an Alex Ovechkin empty net goal, his fourth of the year, set up by Dmitry Orlov. The three stars belonged to Kuemper (34 save shutout), Malenstyn, and Protas.

Out in Calgary, the Flames welcome the Edmonton Oilers. Stuart Skinner is mismatched with Jacob Markstrom in goal. Calgary cracked the scoresheet in the second period with a Mikael Backlund shorthanded goal, his third of the season, set up by Elias Lindholm. Edmonton tied it on a Zach Hyman power play goal, his fifth of the year, powered by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. The Flames pulled ahead with a Brett Ritchie goal, his third of the season, via Trevor Lewis and Milan Lucic. The Oilers tied it in the third period with a McDavid goal, his ninth of the year, guided in by Cody Ceci and Dylan Holloway. Edmonton took the lead with another Hyman goal, his second of the game and sixth of the season, made possible by McDavid. The final held from here at 3-2, with the three stars going to McDavid, Hyman, and Skinner (40 for 42 in saves).

Finally, the Seattle Kraken bring in the Pittsburgh Penguins. Casey DeSmith and Martin Jones will handle the goaltending duties. Pittsburgh tallied first in the second period on a Jake Guentzel goal, his fourth of the season, going in unassisted. Seattle tied it on a Jordan Eberle goal, coming off of Matty Beniers and Jaden Schwartz. The Kraken pulled ahead with a Morgan Geekie goal, his second of the year, assisted by Daniel Sprong and Vince Dunn. Seattle iced it at 3-1 with a Schwartz empty net goal, his fifth of the campaign, set up by Brandon Tanev and Dunn. The three stars were Jones (31 for 32 in saves), Schwartz, and Dunn.

There's six games on this Friday, beginning with...

The Vegas Golden Knights hosting the Anaheim Ducks. John Gibson and Logan Thompson are set to start in goal. Vegas opened in the first period with a Chandler Stephenson power play goal, his fourth of the season, powered by Jack Eichel and Alex Pietrangelo. The Golden Knights added on in the second period with a Reilly Smith shorthanded goal, his second of the year, set up by William Karlsson and Brayden McNabb. Vegas extended the lead as Karlsson scored his fourth of the season, thanks to Jonathan Marchessault and Smith. The Golden Knights padded the lead on a Nicolas Roy goal, his second of the year, guided in by Nicolas Hague and Zach Whitecloud. Anthony Stolarz relieved Gibson for the third period. The final held at 4-0, with the three stars awarded to Thompson (29 save shutout), Smith, and Karlsson. 

Back east, the New Jersey Devils welcome the Colorado Avalanche. Pavel Francouz and Vitek Vanecek are in the blue paint. The Hurricanes tied it again on a Brent Burns goal, guided in by Jordan Martinook and Brett Pesce. New York regained the lead with a Josh Bailey goal, his second of the year, assisted by Barzal and Alexander Romanov. The Islanders added on in the third period with a Brock Nelson goal, made possible by Anthony Beauvillier and Anders Lee. New York extended the lead as Nelson scored his second of the game, with the help of Beauvillier and Ryan Pulock. The Islanders padded the lead as Zach Parise scored a shorthanded empty net goal, his second of the campaign, going in unassisted. The Canucks added on in the second period with a Bo Horvat power play goal, his fifth of the season, powered by Andrei Kuzmenko. Pittsburgh got on the board with a Rickard Rakell power play goal, his fourth of the year, with assists provided by Bryan Rust and Evgeni Malkin. Vancouver fired back in the third period with a Kuzmenko goal, his third of the season, via Luke Schenn and Mikheyev. The Canucks extended on an Oliver Ekman-Larsson power play goal, helped along by Horvat. Vancouver padded the lead on a J.T. Boston opened in the first period with a Charlie Coyle goal, his second of the season, fueled by Derek Forbort and Brad Marchand. The Bruins added on in the second period with a Marchand power play goal, assisted by Hampus Lindholm and David Pastrnak. Detroit got on the board with an Adam Erne goal, his second of the year, coming off of Filip Hronek. Boston replied in the third period with a Marchand power play goal, his second of the game, with assists provided by Jake DeBrusk and Pastrnak. The Bruins extended the lead as Craig Smith scored, thanks to Tomas Nosek and Forbort. Boston padded the lead as Pastrnak scored his sixth of the season, thanks to Patrice Bergeron and Lindholm on the power play. The final stayed at 5-1, with the three stars awarded to Marchand, Pastrnak, and Lindholm, while Forbort gets an honorable mention.

Along to Buffalo, as the Sabres welcome the Montreal Canadiens. Sam Montembeault and Eric Comrie are set to start in goal. The Sabres retied it on a Dylan Cozens goal, his third of the year, coming off of Jacob Bryson and Lawrence Pilut. Philadelphia pulled ahead in the second period with a Zack MacEwen goal, his second of the season, courtesy of Nick Seeler and Nicolas Deslauriers. The Flyers added on with a Farabee goal, his  of the year, made possible by Hayes and Owen Tippett. Florida got one back in the third period with a Brandon Montour power play goal, his second of the season, with assists provided by Sam Reinhart and Matthew Tkachuk. The Predators added on in the third period with a Ryan Johansen goal, his third of the season, coming off of Forsberg and Matt Duchene. Nashville extended the lead on a power play goal by Josi, with assists provided by Forsberg and Duchene. The final was 3-0, with the three stars awarded to Sorokin (41 save shutout), Palmieri, and Pelech, while Pageau gets an honorable mention.
